The left side speaker (Only the left side) of my laptop is working intermetently. Sometimes it's working, sometimes not. When I tried to tap hard the laptop near the left speaker, sometimes it work but a crackling sound or not clear sound is coming. Should I replace the speaker or a wire inside is loose?
I have HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC. I just do not understand why my internal speakers or headphones are not working. sometimes it works and other times it don't.

I have tried troubleshooting with windows troubleshooter with no results. I have checked all the drivers for audio and they check out fine. I have tried driver software with no success. View 9 Replies View RelatedThe right speaker in my notebook is louder then the left one is. The only way to compensate for the problem is to lower the "balance" in the sound properties for the right speaker (I have it all the way down to 70 if you can believe that!) Now my audio sounds even between the left and right speaker. I think it's ashame that seems to be the only fix for the problem. Not sure if this is a driver issue or a hardware issue.
NVidia installs audio drivers to the computer when installing the video drivers (which I still don't understand why...I thought NVidia was a graphics company?) Then I install the IDT drivers/software afterwards. HP has verified that this is correct so everything on my end is up to date...minus of course offical drivers for the 320M video card that everyone is still waiting on!

All is OK, except the equalizer function in Dolby Advanced Audio V2 is no longer working. You can still move the equalizer sliders but the actual sound quality remains the same. I then tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it only to find that the drivers i found weren't compatible. Error Message: "IDT PC Audio has stopped working"
I've recently noticed a problem with my PC's speakers not working. I'm not entirely sure what causes them to stop working, but if I remember correctly, the first time I remember it happening was after I had my computer plugged into the TV via an HDMI cable. Since then, the speakers seem to come and go. I think restarting my computer usually brings them back, but I was curious if there was another way to fix them other than that and if I could do something to keep this from happening in the future. Also, I'm interested in finding out why this is happening to my PC.

There is no sound working on my HP and when I try to test it there is a window that shows up saying there is another program running even though I just started up the laptop. The icon on the computer for volume also will not "mute" when I push the button to mute it.
Within the last couple of weeks, the sound quit working on my laptop. Since purchasing, I have been able to mute the sound and turn it back on with no trouble, but now when I unmute the sound, nothing happens. The sound icon and the Volume Mixer all show that the sound is working and is set at the highest volume, but nothing comes out. Given that this laptop has beatsaudio, it's frustrating.
