I have a problem with my Lenovo. The problem is that whenever I plug or unplug my pc adapter, the screen goes black for a second or so. I didnt experience this problem before, it started to occur a week or 2 ago.URL....
View 1 RepliesMonth ago x200 works well. I leave it on table for a mont and do not use it at all. But now, x200 turns on only with inserted AC adapter charger. It does not turn on with only inserted battery (without AC adapter charger), just nothing happend when I press power button.
But battery charges and program "Thinkpad Power Manager" detects battery and it's charge. Battery is ok (tested on another X200 and works well).
I just bought a new laptop :HP Pavilion g6-2389ca Notebook PC and my problem is that when I unplug my laptop it turns off after a few seconds and it restarts. but it doesn't turn on it just keeps restarting. and there aren't any errors the battery is new and I checked it with the HP battery check and that said it was OK. I have this laptop now for just a few days. And when I try to turn on the laptop while unplugged the laptop freezes at the log-in screen.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a problem with my 2 year old vaio sz. Since some weeks, screen turns black in irrregular intervals. The system is still available, but i can't see anything on the screen. The only solution is to push the power button an switch to standby mode. Afer pushing the power button again, the system comes up again and the screen turns on! The problem only occured in battery mode.
I tried nearly everything to fix the problem. I reinstalled Windows XP, tried different power management settings... nothing worked.
I have repaired a few laptop in my time so when a friend said his screen was black but he could read it with a flashlight I guessed right away it was an inverter problem.
I got a new inverter off of *bay, carefully removed the display bezel, swapped in the new inverter and powered it up. Successfully boots into Windows ! Shut it down, screwed the inverter down, put the bezel back on and now the display comes on for 1 second, just long enough to see that "Acer" splash screen, and then goes black. Yes you can still read the screen with a flashlight.
Checked the power in and out wires, they look good. Re-seated both connectors. unscrewed the inverter board from the display so that it is :floating". Nothing. Swapped in the old inverter and it acts the same ?
When I turn on my Acer Aspire 4750, the screen just turns black, and I can't do anything but to Force it turn OFF?

EDIT: I run Win 8 (64 bit) - absolutely everything is up to date, including BIOS.
My hp Pavilion dv7-4157cl turns on but has no display. monitor is completely black. I connected an external monitor and still no display.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a acer aspire 3000 i got from some relatives but when i turn it on it turns on i can here the fan kick on an the dvd drive go click click and stuff but then fan stops and it goes dead silent and the screen never shows anything from the beggining by any chance do those little switches that shut off the screen when u close it ... .do they ever brake ...? ive tried hooking it up to another monitor but it doesnt show a screen of anything but it must send some type of a signal cause its just a plain blank screen and once i unplug it it sais no signal no signal all over
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got an E520 here that doesn't seem to want to display anything on the built-in screen, unless I've hooked the device up to an external monitor. I've attempted the following:
1.) Windows Key + P to change the display. (No good)
2.) Updated drivers. (No good)
3.) Changed primary monitor. (No good)
4.) Changed to Extended display, duplicate, single. (No good)
I'm not quite sure what else to do.
My XPS 17 laptop sometimes beeps continuously with the sound of something being unplugged or plugged into the USB ports, but this happens when nothing is connected. Occasionally, a message comes up saying that USB device is not recognised - which makes least sense when nothing is plugged in. What is causing this - perhaps a setting on the computer - or perhaps a solution?

So I usually have to turn it off and let the battery charge all the way which it does and that works fine. So then I can start it up on the battery working fine but as soon as I go to charge it while its on the screen goes blank...

Issue: I get a black screen permanently now. When connected to wall battery indicator is blue, I touch the power button, power indicator turns blue for 7 seconds then turns off. Nothing happens. Screen doesn't power, can't hear any fans, etc. Same issue when not connected to wall.
There was a BIOS update version 2.04 which fixed a problem "2. Revise system can't boot when "Exit Discarding Changes" was selected in BIOS menu." I believe that's my issue.
Is there any recovery method that can be done at home to get it out of this state?

Another user suggested sending in the laptop to have the EPROM replaced but never said why or if it fixed it.

The 720p webcam in my new Edge E430 (I just got it last Thursday) is not working properly. When I use the Communications Utility or Skype, the green light next to the webcam turns on, but the image window only shows a completely black image. Also, when I increase the brightness or contrast settings of the webcam, the image becomes completely gray or completely white.
The Device Manager shows two devices - the "Integrated Camera" and the "Virtual Camera." I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling the webcam drivers, but that hasn't worked. What else can I do?
My Dell XPS M1530 just shut down on me. When I plug the charger into the laptop, the green light on the charger turns off, just like it wasn't plugged into the wall outlet.
I tried a second charger, and the light on that one just blinks in rapid succession. I've tried booting it up without the battery and with a replacement battery with the same results.
So now my laptop can't start up and I'm not sure what's going on.
I did customize the bios, but Wake on Ac is not enabled.
What is occurring is if we leave the laptop not plugged into an AC adapter overnight, the next time the laptop is connected to the ac adapter it will turn itself on. This occurs even with the lid closed.
I suspect the problem is coming from the Auto on Time in the bios. We have the Auto on time set to 12:01am (local). My suspicion is that if the auto on timer is missed, it is turned on at the next possible moment.
Is there a way to set the machine not to auto on if it misses the auto on time?
We are using the A09 bios version, and below is the ini file taken of bios settings from the cctk. (minus the service tag.)

I recently bought a Lenovo G50-70 and the only main issue i'm facing is that it won't shut down. When I press shut down, the shutting down icon shows up and then the screen turns off but the laptop remains on (the lights below the touchpad remain on and i can still hear the fans running)...
I decided once to leave it like this and see if it'll shut down later. I came back to find it still on and it was hot and the fans were making more noise than they usually do.
To shut it down all i can do is forcefully shut it down by pressing the power button which i would like to avoid doing...
My Acer aspire switch 10 automatically turns itself off if it is charging and the lid is closed, when i tru to use it i find it hard to turn on and 99% or th time i need to hold the poer button for 10-15 seconds once or twice for it to power on. Never used to do this when i got it but not sure if it is windows being buggy or hardware...

Everything else works perfectly though. I have to shake the laptop (lol, seriously...) and the screen comes back on! It's been getting more and more frequent. What gives? Is this a known issue? Is there some loose connection somewhere inside? What should I check?

If I leave the screen in this position, the keyboard lights will turn off too. Once I tilt the screen forward and click or hit a key, I'm greeted by the lock screen, and have to enter my password again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo last night my laptop was running fine on battery power, but then it was running low, so I plugged in the power cord. Nothing happened. Since the adapter at the laptop end was falling apart and duct-taped anyways, I figured it was just conking out, but then I saw the indicator light on the power brick was off.
With some experimentation, I found that if I moved it to a different outlet, the light would come back on, but if I plugged it into my laptop, the light would die, and I would have to again move it to a different outlet (the same one as first would work fine) to get the indicator light back on. It works in other Dell laptops. Other adapters do the exact same thing.
So I'm guessing there's a problem with my laptop wiring that's causing a short or something. (Apologies for my shallow electrical knowledge.) But it was working last night on battery power. Until the battery died completely this morning, it would power up. So it's not an electrical problem that kills the laptop.
I have a Thinkpad Edge E520. The volume and brightness keys are working, but the on screen display I used to have is gone. I tried everything I could find on the web, still not working.
