The Windows startup music doesn't play on my laptop G580 (my OS is Windows 8.1). It only plays when I reboot my machine.
What's the problem? I enabled the startup music (put a tick).

My computer (the Lenovo Y510P) started acting up the first day I bought it. It runs smoothly and everything, but the speakers seem to crackle and pop whenever I play music or games (even at a low volume). I've been seeing that many Lenovo Y510P users have been having this same issue and can assume that the problem is a hardware issue because:
1) Installing different versions of sound drivers AND even downloading the recommended sound drivers from Lenovo DOES NOT WORK.
2) Changing the power options DOES NOT WORK.
3) Plugged in headphones and even bluetooth can hear the static.
I'm thinking about returning this laptop since this is the 3rd day of having it. If there's no fix for this defect, I'm returning it before the 7th day.

Having issues with connecting to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones- the devices are technically paired (all icons and prompts say "connected") but the music still comes out thru the speakers. How I can get it to work- no other laptop I've had as had this problem?!

Just purchased Z710 laptop. I am astonished at the poor performance while browsing the Internet. My 8 yr old Dell/XP outperforms this thing. I hope there is a relatively simple fix for this or I am in deep trouble. Pages slow to open, videos constantly buffering. Multi-tasking is out of the question.

When I boot up my Y50, The lenovo logo comes up and the windows 8.1 loading logo below it lags. It starts slow and then goes back to normal. The problem is, My other laptop which is also windows 8.1 it boots up 2x as fast even though my y50 has better computer specs. Both laptops have fast boot enabled.
Edit: My other windows 8.1 laptop boots in 14 seconds while my Y50 boots in 35seconds. There is noticable lag when it boots up.
Edit 2: A Video URL...
Edit 3: ALL good now!

I just did a OneKeyRecovery to reset the notebook (original Win8); after that I did an upgrade to Win8.1; now the notebook boots (reboot/shutdown) very slow, booting takes >5 min; when it's up it's quite ok.
Assume an issue with the SSD cache, SSD is not visible (device manager etc,), reinstalled smartcache, smartcache doesn't find an SSD....

I have Lenovo G505 (59-380146) (APU Quad Core A10-5750 2.5 Ghz/ 6GB Ram) Windows 7 x64. Upgraded my HDD to SSD (Sandisk SDSSDHP256G FW:X2316RL).
System become rapid speed, windows boots in 8-10secs, HD tune transfer rate is between 357.3 and 409.6 MB/sec, simply everything just went perfect except Internet speed... With old HDD it used to be around 36-40Mbps, with SSD its now only around 11-13Mbps... My wireless card is Atheros AR956x. Drivers are up to date and downloaded from Lenovo support website. Tried old HDD - wifi works perfect.
I only write here because I tried everything...

With this laptop, the CPU usage rises significantly whenever the battery is charging. If I'm on running on battery power or it's fully charged, I don't have this problem. The CPU stays at 2-3% while browsing the internet, for example. But browsing the internet while the battery is charging will send the CPU up to 90-100%. It's not just browsing the internet, but any task, such as running Sony Vegas, using Skype, watching a movie, etc.
Again, this only happens while the battery is charging. Everything runs much, much slower. All power management settings are identical whether it be running on battery or charging with the AC adapter, so it's not that. I am also using the 65w power adapter that was supplied with the computer, and the adapter becomes very hot to the touch while charging.

I just upgraded my Y530 from 2GB*2 to 4GB*2 PC3 10666. BIOS recognizes the rams. From vista 64 startup it is extremely slow. I was able to log on, after half an hour and CPU is at 100% all the time and the computer fails to respond to mouse clicks or keyboard. An hour after this I was desperate trying to turn it off and pressed hand held the power key. Now it's corrupted my user profile. I know how to fix that but everything runs in slow motion 1:100 and I can't do anything. I tried to log on with admin and the video driver keeps crashing that I was almost not clicking fast enough to close those error dialogs and yes it's just as slow otherwise. Safe mode works fine. Win vista 64 reports 8gb in safe mode. I searched for a while and found that I might need new bios so where do I get it? All lenovo has are drivers. There was one request a while back for bios but there's no update on it.
My bios version is 10CN41WW (223)...

I upgraded my brand new U410 to Windows 8, and immediately noticed that shutdown took more than 5 hours, at which point I would just kill it by holding down the power button.

My X1 Carbon started running super slow since last week. The disk C: shows I still have 49.2 GB free space to use. So I think the problem does not relate to the space size. I am wondering if there is any way to clear something in my computer and make it run as fast as before.

I bought lenovo z510 recently and liked its performance. But from last few days am facing issue when windows 8.1 boots .ie., when i power on my laptop i see "lenovo log" for more than 15 minutes and sometimes windows doesnt start at all. I have to restart few times manually with power button to see the windows screen.
Initially i thought it is due to windows update, but even after I turned off update, am facing same issue. My laptop is hardly a month old and it is very frustrating to see this happening .

I have an edge 530, i've had it about 2 weeks running windows 7 64.I have found that on default settings its fairly slow at waking up, i made one change which was to the wireless card, i unticked the allow my system to turn off wireless to save power (so it stays on). this seems to have made an instant difference and the laptop now wakes a lot faster.
The problem now is with having that option unticked, when my laptop does wake up the wireless is off when it wakes and will not turn back on, i have to manually turn it on. If i leave the power save option ticked for the wireless card it does auto connect when my laptop wakes.Seems a little odd as i thought unticking the option to allow my laptop to turn wireless off means it should just stay on but it seems to be having the opposite effect.all i wanted was for my laptop to wake faster and the wireless either stay on or auto connect after it wakes.

Took delivery of my brand new y510p yesterday and the last 24 hours have been hell. The PC is incredibly slow, much slower than my three year old XPS 15 from dell.
The laptop won't shut down/restart.. It just goes through shutdown screen then black screen with keyboard monitor fan etc still on.I have done a system recovery back to initial state and am now running windows updates as first port of call but its been stuck on 13 out of 32 update (whilst shutting down) for the past hour and half.

I have replaced my old sata disk with a ssd disk . Intel 520 240 gb. on my T520. I have a Windows 7 and a minor Linux partition. Dual boot. I have moved the old image with Arconis True HD.
However, there is a HUGE difference in boot times between Windows and Linux.
Windows is 1 min and 35 sec with windows logo until login screen appears. Then additional 20 seconds.
Linux is 7-10 seconds from Lenovo sign in bios until I'm ready to go. Off course I did not expect Windows to boot as fast as Linux, but things has worsened after the change.
When Windows is up and running the SSD disk is preforming in the same speedy way as under Linux. It is just the boot situation which is terrible. AHCI is enabled .

2 customers complained of very slow boot times 2-5minutes on these machines.
Removal of the Msata 24GB fixed it. I have asked them to check if express cache is installed but seems to be an ongoing problem.
What can lenovo do about this? Will replacement of the Msata drives fix the problem or is there a bios update coming which can remedy this.

This is terrible, by using CPUz i can see that, whilst the laptop is charging, the clock speed drops down to 900mhz and fluctautes between that and 1400mhz, this is shocking, i can hardly watch youtube videos or even post this thread, the lag and slowness is unbearable. When running on battery power the CPU speed shoots up to 2500mhz and stays there,it never seems to go to its turbo speed either. Whilst charging, the laptop is unusabe, i cannot do anything on it.

Does "Bios Update" solve the problem??

I have a T430 that is a couple of months old. I've had this problem from the very beginning. Decents specs (have a Dell laptop with same specs and it never has this issue).
Processor: Intel Core i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60 GHz
RAM: 4GB
Basically, after every time the laptop is in sleep mode for more than 30 minutes, once I open up the laptop and log in, there is a period of 3-4 minutes where it is EXTREMELY slow. The computer lags ridiculously...

I don't wanna mention if i wanna play assasins creed without being plugged in... is very laggy. I'm running windows 8.1 and all drivers are downloaded from lenovo website driver support... I've tried to change the profile.
On battery mode to run everything on maximum performance... but it doesn't work. same problem. I don't care if the battery runs out faster. i just want it to run fast when is on battery mode.

I have the thinkpad helix for two months. The front facing camera works fine, but rear facing camera is very slow: focus slow, and if move the camera a little, picture refreshes very very slow.
I thought this was the problem of driver, so I updated to the latest driver yesterday. However, the problem is still there.
This makes the camera useless.

I have multiple T430's at my company that are slow to shutdown. It takes approximately 10 minutes to shutdown. It is also consistant, as soon as you login and shut down it will take that long. These are all installed using an image. Running windows 7 64 bit. Looked in event log, but no indication of abnormal errors. Using Kaspersky, Office 2010, Mozy. Checked some registery settings on microsofts website but that didn't fix the issue either. Not sure if this is a lenovo problem, or a windows problem or a conflict with other software.

Had a w540 for a few days and so far it'd be fine. At the weekend i used the laptop on battery for a long time and thus set the power-management low to conserve power.
However, today having switched back to power supply and setting power scheme to max performance the CPU is still concerving power.
Its running (according to resource manager) at 29% and no matter how much i do it sticks at that percentage. The laptop does feel like its running at that clock speed too ... everything is super slow ... can watch programs drawing in the display...

I have an Ideapad Z580 with a 30mbps cable internet connection (running Win8.1). I've tested the cable modem with a number of laptops in my house, and the Ideapad is the only one that regularly times out on loading webpages.
What I've tried:
1. Updated Realtek Ethernet driver to newest version
2. Changed to Google Pub DNS servers (no difference from cable providers)
3. Changed power settings to High Performance (rather than balance or the battery setting)
4. Turned off IPV6 on the ethernet adapter
The problem seems to be random. Pages will load quickly and then suddenly they all time out (such as google and lenovo.com). When I ping both the url and the ip address they time out during these periods.
The problem is definitely with the laptop and not the cable connection as such. The modem does not need to be reset, as other laptops in the house load webpages normally.

I was just wondering what the average time was for a totally dead y510p to charge while using it for some light browsing on the internet. It seems to charge really slow especially after it reaches about 80 percent or so. I was curious to see what other owners have had in terms of charge time. I seem to have narrowed it down to about 5 percent every 10 minutes while my cousins HP charges way faster. Not too upset about it but a bit curious. For example as I am typing this out it's been at 99% for the past 20 minutes or so, and HW monitor shows it charging really slowly but when its at like 50 percent it charges at a decent rate maybe about 10 mwh every 5 seconds or so.

I have an X230T running Windows 8 and working quite well with it.
I face a Problem with using Windows 8, the scroll speed after swiping (f. e. in Internet Explorer or start menu) is pretty slow. For example: you have loaded a web page in IE 10 which has lots of text and you scroll down using a swipe - the page starts to scroll but soon the movement is de-accelerated and the scroll movement stops very soon with little gain of area.
