Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: After Latest Update Touchpad Display Grey Circle Icon On X201s
Jun 30, 2009After the latest set of updates, my touchpad took to displaying a stationary gray circle/swirl half the time when I tried to move the cursor. Seemed to happen less if I moved very slowly. I turned off scrolling (again), and it's mostly gone away. Is this related to scrolling?

May 2, 2009Yesterday, after just a month of ownership, the display panel on my ThinkPad Yoga S1 became defective. All of a sudden, when I undocked it (after shutting down normally), the only thing that appeared on the display was a whitish image containing a dark grey vertical band (left), which happens to be the Lenovo splash screen background! The laptop runs perfectly fine when docked because it attaches to an external monitor. I tried fiddling with the Yoga's display panel, rotating through its various configurations and, after a while, a partial windows screen did appear although it flickered and, even still, nothing displayed properly in that left most vertical strip! Undocked, the laptop was and is completely unusable...

Apr 1, 2013I have an inspiron laptop. been working fine now all of a sudden the circle icon keeps flashing in the background it doesn't go out. Ran norton antivirus didn't catch anything. checked register disks everything ok. the computer is working fine except it just keeps flashing off and on again.
I tried rebooting removing battery nothing works. the only msg i received was a box that said wireless configuration OLE initialization failed, make sure that the OLE libraries the correct version. I am running windows home premiun 7.

Sep 20, 2012Is there the ability to disable the touchpad on the W530? I don't see it as an option in the function keys. I am using a mouse and it's a bit annoying brushing my hand against it and having it mess something up.

Jan 15, 2015I mostly use a mouse and I am getting annoying mouse pointer jumps when I inadvertantly touch the touchpad while typing. It seems like just pressure on the area outside of the touchpad is enough to make the pointer jump. I would like the touchpad to be disabled when a mouse is present on the system and be enabed when no mouse is present. I would not want to be caught having to find my way to the Control Panel using keystrokes.It does not seem like this is possible so I am hoping that Lenovo is monitoring these posts.

Sep 18, 2014I bought my S210 about 6 months ago. ever since ive bought it, an annoying flashing circle pops up now and then in the botton left corner...its causing the page to change if im reading something on kindle. it opens any tab that is under it...whilst im typing it will open any other program...it keeps causing the cursor to go in to the bottom left corner as well.

Synaptics driver 16.2.19.14
My problem is that even though I set the PalmCheck settings to minimum, I have a delay before I can use the left button under the touchpad. The PalmCheck seems to work only on the touchpad functionnalities, not on the buttons below.
How to use those left/right physical buttons below the touchpad while hitting keys on the keyboard ?

Jul 31, 2014Is there any way to completely disable the touchpad and trackpoint on the X1 Carbon without going into bios?
I am able to disable touchpad OR trackpoint by going into mouse properties in control panel but it won't let me do both. I would like to turn it back on relatively easily if possible.
I am trying to do this on a work computer and I have no administrative rights and I am using Windows 7 Professional.
Can this be done or did Lenovo completely overlook such a simple feature?

Aug 2, 2008When I've got my ThinkPad w530, there was (as usually at every ThinkPad laptop) UltaNav enhanced setting dialog (if I remember correctly, these settings resided at the last tab of OS mouse settings dialog - Control Panel -> Mouse). I have spent a lot of time to configure touchpad according to my needs.
But than I've updated my Windows 7 x64, as Microsoft recommended, and installed some hardware drivers and user applications... And at some moment I've suddenly discovered, that the touchpad and the stickpoint do not work anymore the way I've configured them. Yes, they work, but in the most basic default mode.
Furthermore, when I tried to look at the configuration dialog I had used before to configure them, I found, that this settings dialog is totally gone.
Now my Windows Control Panel mouse setting menu looks as the following screenshot: [URL] ....
Is there any way to restore (re-activate) manually Lenovo UltraNav settings dialog for the touchpad and the stickpoint?
Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: Spiral Symbol When Move Finger On Ultranav Touchpad?
Jun 24, 2014I get this spiral symbol (see above image) in place of my mouse indicator when I move my fingers a certain way on the ultranav mousepad.
One way it occurs is if I move my finger from left to right or right to left across the bottom of the ultranav mousepad.
It interferes with me being able to move the mouse. I suspect it is to prevent inadvertant movement of the mouse when your finger just brushed the ultranav mousepad. I would like to turn it off if possible.

Feb 27, 2013I bought 2 of these in oct 2011 for my twins going to college. My daughters has had no problems. The other one died in may 2012 and was repaired under warranty. It died again in November 2012. I was able to get it running by removing the battery and disconnecting the cmos battery and letting it sit for a while.
It happened again, and this time I can't revive it. I want to add that I think there was something wrong when we got it back from repair. The battery icon for the Lenovo power management did not work, but the windows one did. In hindsight I think this had something to do with nvram problem I have since heard so much about.

Aug 17, 2014I have a T440s and have an issue with the camera. It seems to turn on (little green light comes on) when I access the Windows 8 camera app or any other app (like skype), but I do not see anything out of the camera except for a gray screen with a camera icon that has a bar through it. It looks like the camera needs to be activated somewhere but where to look. I have checked the driver and it seems to be fine (no yellow warning icon), I even unistalled and reinstalled the latest camera driver from the support website but that does not change anything.

Oct 12, 2008I have been looking to make my alps pad better and with some info i found on here i was able to do just that. now i have "back/forward" slide gestures and circle scrolling, in firefox! this will also enables alot more things.
first of all thanks to fonduekid for letting us know of the new drivers.
and to SpotMe for the regedit info.
to start off go HERE, and download that driver.
Install, restart.
after windows restarts run regedit
look for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREAlpsAPoint"
with in that folder look for "UseCustomGUI"
double click and change the value data to "0"
close regedit
open mouse properties and you will have all the features unlocked. circle scrolling are within the dell tab and the back/forward is under gestures tab.
Unfortunately Alps still will not recognize Firefox. To be able to use the "back and forward" slide gesture you will have to go here and download a firefox addon called nightly tester tools.
once installed, with in firefox go to tools>addons and click on options for Nightly tester tools.
Lenovo P500 P/Y/Z Series :: Don't Get Icon In System Tray
May 5, 2014I have a Lenovo Ideapad p500 Touch. I recently upgraded my router to an AC1900 Router, and with it i wanted to update the internal wifi on the Lenovo. I purchased an Intel 7260 AC Dual Band with Bluetooth seen HERE . Install was pretty straight forward, seeing how im a IT Tech. Where I had an issue is with the drivers and getting bluetooth properly set up. The wifi part works without an issue. I can't seem to get bluetooth to work at all. When i go to device manager I see bluetooth but only if I select to view "hidden Devices". Im running Win 8.1 64x, Ive tried installing the drivers from intel, but it never seems to actually install the bluetooth driver. I don't get the icon in the system tray.

Jul 26, 2012I received my G570, and have had internet issues since. It can connect to my WiFi network, however after using the internet for a few minutes, it consistently gets the yellow "!" over the wifi icon in the task bar and says no internet connection and I loose my connection. I know it is an issue with THIS laptop since my old and decrepit HP laptop which sits next to it works perfectly fine using the same network, as well as my smartphone and room mate's devices.
I have downloaded the Lenovo update software and attempted to use it. I get a message saying something along the lines of no available packages, assuming that means everything is up to date in terms of drivers.
I have done some research with the terms "lenovo, g570, wifi, internet, problems, connection" and yield many pages, however none have seem to provide a solution that works for me.

Fresh format and reinstall of dual boot system - problems remaining ... Since the behavious is the same with Win7 and Ubuntu and also remains after a fresh installation of both OS, I assume it is a hardware defect!?

Jan 3, 2012Just got a Thinkpad SL510 2847 D2U, Windows 7 Prof.(64 bit).
Often when I touch the Touchpad I see the arrow on screen change to a "button" being displayed. And the button is not like using the arrow. Very difficult to work with it. So I keep moving around Touchpad to get rid of the "button" and return to arrow.
How to rid of this "button" action? Or what am I doing to cause it? I believe I have changed the sensitivity of the touchpad. I'll check again.

Until it close and open the display, it’s don’t move. In addition, this method does not always work. I have gone to options and I've turned off touchpad options "two fingers" mode, but nothing change. I have still in function an old notebook pc (from 2007, not Lenovo!), and has never had this kind of problem. I need my computer for travel work but this problem becomes very difficult my job.

Mar 13, 2014The touchpad on/off function does not persist through system lock/unlock. For instance, with the touchpad disabled, locking my computer will re-enable the touchpad (as will signing back in to my computer account if I take the trouble to disable the touchpad before entering my password).
I permenantly use an external mouse, want to leave my touchpad disabled as it interferes with typing. Thus, I see this as a bug. Is there any way to change this behavior short of a bug report? Perhaps some buried setting?
Running Win 8.1, user is account password protected, but not linked to a Windows live account.
Edit: Laptop has a Synaptics touchpad.
Solution: Solved by going into Control Panel -> Mouse Settings -> Change Mouse settings -> Device Settings -> Settings (Device needs to be enabled for this to be accessible) -> Advance Tab -> Touchpad Status
Under touchpad status, setting was changed to 'keep previous enable/disable status'.

Jan 24, 2014If she slides her finger on the touchpad suddenly jumps over with 2 - 3 cm or across the screen, or if she wanna click on something jumps over or just simply she cant move on a button because it's "shakes" around ... Sometimes I feel like "somebody" controls her laptop with an another mouse.
To find out that's the windows 8 's problem or the touchpad's problem we bought a microsoft wireless mouse and it worked without any problem...
I uninstalled the touchpad driver , tried to disable and enable but nothing worked for me....

Sep 3, 2014The touchpad shows only as a mouse, and scrolling & the fn+f6 option do not worked, I had it on win 8&7, worked on neither of them. I couldn't find a dedicated driver for it, and I couldn't find a post that states whether this touch pad should have those options working or it was never intended to.
