I bought my S210 about 6 months ago. ever since ive bought it, an annoying flashing circle pops up now and then in the botton left corner...its causing the page to change if im reading something on kindle. it opens any tab that is under it...whilst im typing it will open any other program...it keeps causing the cursor to go in to the bottom left corner as well.

What I did so far:
- instal all windows 8 updates - still not working,
- update to 8.1 and update - still not working.
Check my hardware in control panel - everything seems to be ok - but maybe I dont know where to look ?
Maybe same drivers are needed ?
I have a brand new IdeaPad S210 (model 20257) with a UK keyboard. Basically, the backslash ('') and hash ('#') keys don't work. I tried switching to US keyboard layout as a test, but they don't work there either. Everything else seems fine.
Is this fixable by updating the drivers or something? Or do I have to return the whole machine as faulty?...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Lenovo Ideapad S210 a couple of month ago. When I start using the touchscreen everything works for a couple of seconds and then randomly bubbles with about a half inch diameter start popping up, usually in a horizontal fashion across my screen. These bubbles that I am referering to are the visual effect when a finger touches the screen. So far these rogue bubbles seem to spawn whenever I start using the touchscreen, and keep me from controlling my cursor with my track pad, touch screen, or an external mouse once they appear. The only thing that works then is to shutdown the laptop, which is a big annoyance.
It is running on Win 8 default settings.
It was working fine a few minutes ago, i closed the laptop for a few moment, but when i came back the screen was black at first. so i did a hard shutdown cause i though the computer crashed or something. but when i turned it back on, it was suddenly white. if i tilt it a bit, it sometimes goes black. I don't know what to do, i used my friends monitor and it worked so it not the computer...

Ran norton antivirus didn't catch anything. checked register disks everything ok. the computer is working fine except it just keeps flashing off and on again.
I tried rebooting removing battery nothing works. the only msg i received was a box that said wireless configuration OLE initialization failed, make sure that the OLE libraries the correct version. I am running windows home premiun 7.
My S210 continuously is loading thumbnails when I turn it on. Just started yesterday. How to reset it? It doesn't respond to any commands and only can shutdown or restart by going to task mgr.

I tried updating the bios, but the only version I could find [URL]... is an .exe file, so I can't flash it from usb.
By mistake during resizing I deleted OEM partiton which stored One Key Recovery and want it back now. I googled a lot and read about setting partition id but since the partition is entirely deleted it doesnt even work after setting partiton id. I have s210 Touch and One kEy Recovery 8..

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter the latest set of updates, my touchpad took to displaying a stationary gray circle/swirl half the time when I tried to move the cursor. Seemed to happen less if I moved very slowly. I turned off scrolling (again), and it's mostly gone away. Is this related to scrolling?

Faced with the problem. No sound after the laptop. When you try to check the sound device, a window pops up "the device is already in use by another application." But no program is not running. After rebooting the laptop sound occurs. Drivers are all set.

UEFI boot mode, not Legacy.Drivers for sound downloaded from realtek.com.tw. With standard windows drivers sound is always there. Tried the previous version of the drivers - ineffectually. Could it be that the problem is due to the UEFI boot mode? I do not want to reinstall the OS mode Legacy just to check it out.
when I try to start my Inspiron 15 the battery light will flash and then wait for a few seconds and then flashes again. I put a post tester and it says no codes and restarts and flashes again no codes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst - temp issues: The bottom of my Y580 has been getting extrememly hot and my temp monitoring program says "GPU temp limit reached".
By hot, I mean if it comes into contact with your skin, it will give a light burn causing a red burn mark. This only occurs when I run something on my 660m like a game or other programs that make use of it. After it gets like this everything begins to freeze up perodicly and FPS drops to un usable levels.
I know the heat is to be expected with performance demanding applications, but this seems abnormally hot. I've opened the case and cleaned the fans and vents.
The fan doesn't seem to kick up very high like it does on Dust Extraction and I can't find anything to control fan speeds. I've also noticed that the AC power brick gets hot enough to melt thin plastic, like a grocery bag.
While the temps aren't a huge concern, the performance impact/FPS drops is. What can I do about this temperatures other than put a "caution contents may be hot" sticker on my laptop?
Second - black flash. Occasionally (once and hour) during a game or program running on my 660m the screen will have an all black flash for 0.5 second.
If I tab out and have a window running over a program running on the 660m the screen will begin to flicker all black for that window only. Like task manager over a 3d game. Drivers and everything are up to date and I've done clean installs.
My laptop is just over a year old, and out of the warranty. I'm particularly upset about this.
My battery, which was working just fine yesterday is now giving me a "plugged in," not charging message. The lights on the front of the computer (Dell Inspiron 14z, 2012 model) is flashing orange 3x then white.
My mom has the same laptop as me and hers is working fine. Her adapter (which works for her) would not charge my battery. Her battery worked in my laptop but would not charge. Using her battery, I updated the BIOS since I couldn't previously as it was less than 10%.
I'm currently having a problem with my Vostro 3460. Once in a while, when I plug in the AC Adapter to my laptop, it'll make 2 beeps sound and show an error about battery is unrecognized, the battery light in the front panel will flash between amber and white. I just got couple of days old Lenovo IdeaPad z50-75, running on AMD FX-7500.First I jsut now noticed that my CPU runs at 1.07 Ghz, before it was always over 2 Ghz or so which was good ... but maybe I touched something some where in powr settings or something and now it stays on 1.07 even when cpu pretty much utilised. I have set power plan to high performance and also Energy manager is set to high performance mode and Conservation mode is on. why it doesn't clock itself up ? I feel that it is slower than before.

In a few days I'll get my IdeaPad U310, and since it comes with 4GB DDR RAM, I'd like to do a upgrade to 8 GB. I understand it only has one slot for RAM, so I'll buy one stick of course, but I don't know if it's the same size as used in a desktop PC, or is it some mini-sized RAM stick?
I also need to know the voltage of it, is it 1.5V or different?
Whenever I try to install the ELAN/Synaptics driver that I download from my laptop's support page I get an error saying: no Appropriate Driver to be installed.I'm on Windows 7 64bit...I've tried tons of drivers and I'm starting to get seriously annoyed. Non of them work all of them throw error messages and I'm getting more and more irritated with the obnoxious tap to click functionality. I don't even need the driver as I need the annoying tap to click disabled and maybe some kind of scrolling functionality would be nice if it's possible.

I recently recieved a y410p ideapad I ordered off the lenova website. However, it won't start up. When I try, it brings me to a blue screen with a sad face that says I need to do an automatic repair. This flashes for about two seconds before disappearing and the screen becomes grey and says "lenovo" and "Starting Automatic Repair". From this the screen goes completly grey, and has nothing on it. The computer stays this way for hours and the fan will continue to run. I've tried the reset button on the side and resetting the laptop, but no matter what I do I end up back at that grey screen.

I purchased this Ideapad Z50-70 laptop two days back. It was DOS based so I had to install Windows 8.1 OS myself. After installing the OS, I installed all the drivers for this laptop.
The display of the laptop is set to Full HD resolution i.e. 1920*1080. However, it doesn't look as sharp and crips as a normal HD display should be. The text and other things looks blurred. Also, the contrast of the screen doesn't seem well. Though the resolution is set to Full HD, I'm not feeling the quality smoothness and sharpness of the full HD display.
I bought the Lenovo Ideapad Z500 and I'm trying to boot from a USB drive in order to install Windows on it. When I start the boot menu I only see the hard-drive, the DVD and the network. I tried to set both UEFI mode and Legacy mode in BIOS but the USB stick does not appear in the menu when I boot. I put the image of windows with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool which formats the stick in NTFS mode.
I have the latest BIOS v1.21 and I tried with 2 different USB sticks: one 16GB USB 2.0 Corsair and with a 32GB USB 3.0 ADATA both on USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the notebook. I really haven't seen anything like this in my entire career.
I even downloaded the file efiootBOOTX64.efi and replaced the one that Windows come with on the specified folder on the USB stick ....
Why is so difficult to choose the USB boot drive on the newer notebooks? How can I boot from USB?
