Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 Flex :: BIOS Update Now System Won't Boot
Dec 4, 2014I wanted to do a fresh install but my restore files are in Windows 8 and I wanted 8.1. I used my 8.1 pro disk and created a bootable media for installing using USB. I had to go into the BIOS and change it to legacy before it would see the USB drive. Went ahead and deleted all the partitions then created a single new one for windows. The installation worked flawlessly then I went ahead with the driver installs.
The very first driver was the firmware update. The system updated the firmware without any issues but once it rebooted I only receive the following message "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. Insert recovery Media or hit any key. The select 'boot manager" to chose a new boot device or to boot to recovery media. When I go hit any key it leaves me with no boot options probably due to them being legacy options. I've tried F2 on startup to get into the bios and change it back to legacy but this never works.. I have also tried F12 trying to get it to let me select the startup drive.

Dec 10, 2013I just formatted my yoga 2 pro, downloaded the drivers and ran the Bios Update. I followed the instruction on the read me, ran the .exe, clicked next/ok until the laptop restarted and if I'm not mistaken a red menu with a progress bar showed up. At that point I left and when I came back a few minutes later the laptop was turned on, the screen lighting was on but the display was black, the keyboard backlights were also turned on and everything else was off. The lights on/near the power button that signal if it's turned on and plugged to the AC are turned off.
It's been like this for over 30 minutes now, no signs of progress. I'm not very keen on turning off or unplugging the laptop while flashing the BIOS, but at this point there's not much else I can do.
Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Flex :: No Output To Micro HDMI After Update To Win 8.1
Aug 21, 2014My new Yoga 2 Pro has a secondary display connected through the micro HDMI port. This worked like a charm initially. But after upgrading to newest Windows 8.1 (this is done automatically) it no longer outputs anything to the micro HDMI port. Display and cable is fully functional. But even though the display is powered on, the computer fails to register it and apparently it cannot output anything. Seems like the micro HDMI port is non-existing.
After the windows upgrade I have tried to uninstall / reinstall the display driver. I have also upgraded the Intel drivers to Win 8.1 versions found on the Lenovo support site (including BIOS 76CN38, Intel HD 4400 display driver 15.33.18.64.3496 and chipset 9.4.0.1026). But nothing seems to work.

I reinstalled it under device managers action and the driver got installed as (2) and not working, meaning the driver 1 must be actually there but is not visible and also not working. Finally able to reacess, but system completely reset itself to factory settings. Thought it was a glitch..Its a brand new computer.. 3 days later, same problem. Finally able to get back on, through system repair, but all data is lost AGAIN. System update search states that "there has detected a serious problem loading language files and cannot continue. Please contact Lenovo Support Center" Also, touch screen no longer works.This is a brand new computer!??

Dec 11, 2014I have a severe problem (I guess) after the latest BIOS Update. Windows 7 freezes during startup.
I own a 64-bit Lenovo FLex 2 15D with AMD A6-6310 and R4, 4GB RAM and a SSHD (8GBSSH). I purchased it without OS and installed Windows 7 - which worked fine so far.
I yesterday updated the BIOS with version 9FCN23WW (for Win7 and Win8), the latest BIOS update. A mistake, it seems.
After Reboot, I first had to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS, because it would not let me boot at all. I figured out how to get into the BIOS-Setup to disable this (press Enter 2x, press Tab when in the Boot Menu to access the "Apps Menu", then "SETUP").
Now Win7 begins to start up, but freezes during the startup process (the splash screen with the win flag freezes and looks a bit strange. I used the "protected mode" Windows Startup and saw that the process always hangs when loading "amdkmpfd.sys".
That is basically it.I guess I have to find a way to re-install the previous version of the BIOS.
Now about what I did to fix this (poor, but I tried):
If I try to start from a Win7 installation CD-ROM (actually it is one for Dell PCs, but I guess that is not the problem) and press a key to boot from CD, Windows loads files, shows "Starting Windows" and at a certain point again just freezes. When I -do not- press a key, WIndows Boot Manager shows up and mentions that "Windows failed to start (etc.)" "File: EFIMicrosoftBootBCD" "An Error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data."
I can't even boot into Linux on a USB stick, because the Windows "Error Recovery" won't let me when I try (just offers to boot to Win7 in protected mode - it could be that it fails immediately and jumps back to Win Startup).

For about two months, on start up I get a loud beep and a message that says "The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge. Dec 10, 2014Today I received my brand-new E540 from Amazon. Upon inserting the battery and starting the laptop for the very first time, I was greeted by the following error message:
The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge.
Please replace the battery with the correct Lenovo battery for this system.
Press the ESC key to continue.
The message has only appeared once and hasn't been shown on subsequent reboots.
I proceeded to install Windows 7 which worked fine. Under Windows the battery symbol in the taskbar would say "66%. Plugged in. Not charging". I then shutdown the system and re-inserted the battery. Since then the battery appears to be charging normally and when I inspect the battery symbol in Windows it says something like "89% charged. Plugged in. Charging."
Seeing how this is a brand-new laptop, do you think the battery is broken and I should return the laptop, or should I keep it since it seems to be working normally now.

I tried troubleshooting my uninstalling and reinstalling the Lenovo Power Manager. I also updated the BIOS. Neither of those gave me any luck. I tried getting rid of the microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery, but that keeps coming back.

3 - LRS_ESP 1GB total 497MB used - FAT32 (LBA) Primary

6 - Lenovo 25GB total 2.46GB used (D NTFS Primary
7 - PBR_DRV 15.75GB total 12.46GB used NTFS Primary
All Yoga2 13 are like that from the factory or Macrium created some of them? If they are like that from the factory what each of the partitions have inside (other than, obvlously, the #5 Windows.)
In creating an image for restore in case one is needed which ones I should include in the image?

Jun 21, 2014I purchased a new Flex 2-15 online the past week. The model name shown on the back is "20405". Manufacture date is May 12, 2014. The User Guide refers to a "Novo Button", which is shown in diagrams as being on both the left edge and the right edge near the front. Neither location has a button of any sort. The right edge has a pinhole in the supposed button location. A curved arrow icon is next to the pinhole. I have an inkling this may be some sort of factory reset button. Lacking the Novo button, what is the procedure for accessing the features which the manual says are accessed by pressing this non-existent button?. That is, BIOS, and/or the one touch image backup/restore system?

Jun 3, 2014I paid $60 just for some recovery discs to recover my accidentally formatted Yoga 2 Pro. The discs came with no instructions whatsoever, and using them is weird. First of all, there is two disc 1's, no disc 2, yet there is a disc 3 and 4. Support confirmed this is normal. There is also no prompt between discs 1,1, and 2, so despite making my best guess at when to switch, I can't confidently say I'm not screwing things up.
After the whole process completes, the bios can't find bootable media.

Yesterday while I was working suddenly the system hangs and I had to hard reset. But after that the system didn't boot up. It shows boot device not found. I have switched it off and tried booting using restore button and opened the bios it shows that HDD not detected.
Similar kind of issue I faced two times before but if I hard boot again it worked fine.

Feb 25, 2013I just had my Yoga 13 for about two months and really liked it. Upped RAM to 8GB and added the second SSD. Sweet.
But now I managed to nearly brick my nice little Yoga by spilling juice all over it, and now I am in recovery process.
I checked the original mSATA SSD on another machine, and it looks like it still works fine, all partitions are still there.
In the very beginning after first "drying" the Yoga I got it to boot a couple of times. But now all I get is "Default Boot Device Missing".
Next thing I'll try is putting the SSD in an external USB enclosure and try and boot from there.

Aug 25, 2014I've got a Yoga 11s which is barely a few months old and hasn't seen much use. Having the same problem - it won't power on or charge (powers on only when plugged in). In Lenovo Energy Manager battery status shows "Good" and charging status shows "Battery Connected". WIndows power management icon however, shows Plugged-in, not charging. Never had that problem before either, but it came with the power-on failure so I guess they're related.

Dec 29, 2013I cannot get the Y2P to shutdown or sleep. When I try to shut down it powers off but after about 2 seconds it turns itself back on and boots up. Same thing happens when I try to sleep.I've tried pretty much everything I could find online including the following:
-Turn off wake on lan on the network adapter
-Turn off auto restart on windows errors
-Updated bios
-Updated drivers
-Disabled all non microsoft services
-Factory reset of the OS
Went through every device in device manager and turned off "Allow this device to wake the computer"powercfg /lastwake (shows nothing).Shutting down isn't a huge deal as holding down the power button will eventually turn it off. But not being able to sleep the laptop when I close the lid is a deal breaker as the battery constantly drains.
