I have been lurking the forums for a bit and finally decided to register. If there's a place that can answer my questions I'm quite certain it's here.
I am looking at getting a Sony BZ series here in the USA. I can't help but notice most of the pictures of the computer have a weird looking keyboard with two extra keys next to the enter key
The Sony Vaio F series was released in sonystyle retail stores across Australia just yesterday, and i have noticed that it does not include a backlit keyboard.
I was actually in the store today and was almost about to purchase one..
until i found out there was no backlit keyboard from the sales staff..... that was the deal breaker for me
I bought a Lenovo B590 model a couple of months ago, and since yesterday when the computer turn on, show me the message "Keyboard not Detected". Obviously when starting the keyboard and touchpad do not work.The machine has not suffered any blow or fall or anything like that.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Lenovo G500s -20245. My keyboard does not work as it used to. All the short-cuts can not be performend. I mean the F-function do work with fn, but when I just click F4 it should close the programe, or F7 it should go to airmode, or f9 with should close just the monitor. But these things do not happen. I really love theme and made my life easier.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with My Lenovo y510p. I was working for some time on Windows 7 with no errors. I decided to upgrade my system to Windows 8.1. I did a clean install and installed all drivers from Lenovo website as well. I have a problem that after waking up laptop from sleep mode sometimes (not always) built-in keybord is not working. Solution is to turn compter sleep again and wake it up again or logoff from windows and login again.
Have any of you had such problem with Windows 8.1? I tried power management options changes that used to be a solution for other brands but with no success...
After I went on One Key Recovery and went on Windows 7, I couldn't use my keyboard, right now I'm using a USB keyboard to type this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got my new x1 carbon, and I like it alot, trackpad isn't as bad as everyone is complaining about. However one big issue is that I want to keep the Function row on by default, and only switch to the default one with volume controls if I press the FN button to do so. Right now no matter even if I chose not to show the default keys, with volume and cloud and all that, it still comes back anytime I switch to a different app.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter entering the initial request for password (successfully), the keyboard is non-functional. With the exception of the windows scroll key, no other keys work. Logic suggests that this is a driver problem. The question is which driver?
BTW, looking at the driver manager, it says that the keyboard driver is a standard PS2 keyboard from Microsoft, dated 6/21/2006, version 6.2.9200.16548. Can this be?
I installed some Corsair Ram in slot 1 and 2 underneath the keyboard and after reinstalling the keyboard Ive noticed theres a gap at the top of the keyboard where it slots into the computer the whole way across specifically in the middle where theres alot of flex. The plastic which has the power and volume buttons seems to move around when pressed. This seems to be letting in dust and would especially allow a spill to enter the machine. This doesn't seem normal for a well built machine and have I installed the keyboard wrong?

I have tested with the drivers for Windows 8.1 and Windows 8, listed here: [URL] ....
I then even tried with installing the driver for Windows 8 from: [URL] ....
But when I got through the installation process the "installation program" says the driver couldn´t be installed.
I tried with the advice in this thread: [URL] ....
but I have synaptics 7.5 and not 7.4. I also tried fixing with the register but didn´t find the entry PalmKms. I did do find other entries with Palm.
I see this as a major problem since it makes me completely unable to use any program that require simultaneously use of the keyboard and mouse. Therefore I guess that must be a solution for this?
I was wondering if it is even possible to turn off the keyboad backlight of lenovo Y510p?

All, I am having a major problem with VMWare and the W530 "Num Lock". When I move the cursor into the VMWare window a message comes on say "NUM LOCK: ON" when I move it out of the VMWare window I see message "NUM LOCK: OFF". I do not have any key on the keyboard to disable Num Lock. There are utilities I can run in the SUSE VMWare image to capture the key binding and remap, but I do not have anyway of turning Num Lock on or off to capture the key binding.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe numbers 1-4 on my Y580 keyboard don't work anymore. I only realized this recently as I had been using a separate USB keyboard for some time. I've tried all sorts of things - uninstalling and uninstalling the keyboard drivers in Device Manager, reinstalling the BIOS, unchecking all the boxes under the accessbility options, scanned the computer for malware...but nothing seems to work.
I've also installed Windows 8.1 and replaced my HDD with an SSD...
The keyboard of my laptop doesn't work properly anymore. I can just use a few keys and delete and space don't work at all. this is after I installed the driver again. Before that it was like I'm pressing one key and getting two or more different letters. Maybe it is of some interest that a few weeks ago I installed win8.1 new.

View 6 Replies View RelatedToday i have cleaned my lenovo G560 Keyboard with a soft napkin and medical alcohol (ethanol).
Only the touchable volume and power buttons are working ....
I was able to launch the adaptive keyboard settings by pressing the 'wheel' button on the bar.
I updated the newest version of the keyboard settings (Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad).
After installation. I could not use the functionality to switch through the different functions. I learned on this forum it had to do with the power management software. So I downloaded this.
De-installed the adaptive keyboard settings. Installed it again with latest version.
Now it works again, but now I can not launch the settings anymore. Not via the wheel button on the adaptive keyboard (most right button with the F1, F1 functions). Also not able to launch it directly from the control panel. Link is there, but there is no reaction.
So now I am not able to customize the settings anymore.
I pressed the power button and the light came up for about 5 seconds. Then it's gone. Nothing came up on the screen. Cpu fan did not work and keyboard light did not turn on. I tried holding the power button for seconds. I tried turning on with ac adaptor only. I tried taking the RAM out and then turned it on. Nothing works...
I am a Thai student studying in Okinawa, Japan. So now I am just so nervous because I wont have a computer to work on.
My wife just updated her G580 with the Windows 8.1 update. Afterwards, the keyboard does not function - no keys respond when trying to sign into the computer, the touch pad does not work (USB mouse does), even the Onekey Rescue System button does not work. The only thing that seems to work is the power button.
I restarted the computer and held down the F2 key and was able to get into the Setup Utility where the keys did function (arrow keys, F1, F2, esc, enter). I didn't see anything obvious to me that might work. Exiting the utility and back at the sign on screen the keys don't function again.
what might be the cause or a way to recover the keyboard?
Assuming there is a setting to change this. At least I hope so. Synaptics. y510p

I use Visual Studio and Remote Desktop quite a bit and have some concerns regarding the screen and keyboard. I don't want to get a Hi DPI screen and have to workaround the limitations of the OS. Are there issues with the RDP client and the Hi DPI screen?
How has the keyboard been for someone who uses the function keys 10% of the time? I usually rely on memory to know where to press the F3, F5 keys. I'm concerned it will be hard to find the right location without physical keys.
Few keys in my laptop G560 keyboard is not working. I have done system restore, uninstalled and reinstalled driver nothing worked. I fear that it is a hardware problem.
Few number keys and space bar is not working. Other keys are working fine.
For some reason, I cannot get the backlit keyboard to work on my new X1 Carbon Touch. It lights up upon powering up and then will not turn on no matter how many times I hit the space bar. I don't see an option to enable/disable anywhere either. Am I missing a driver?

It came with Windows 8.1 Pro but I flahsed my company image (Windows 7 x64 Enterprise) onto it.
Everything works fine and I installed all drivers but the adaptive keyboard strip stays at F1 F2 .. keys and does not change no matter what. Pressing the Fn key does not switch it. I installed the On screen display and have the Adaptive Keyboard show in Control Panel and Dynamic Mode is also on.
The camera icon only flashes the screen once and does nothing. The Wifi icon does nothing and the Gear icon does nothing as well. Only the keyboard light icon and the regular F1 F2 keys work fine..
While starting up or before logging into Windows (at Windows lock screen) I'm able to switch the adaptive keyboard strip... But once I'm logged into Windows it suddenly stops working. if I lock the screen again I'm able to switch the adaptive keyboard strips again... What's going on?
I bought a Lenovo G580 laptop this march and now I have some problem with my keyboard. It is behaving strangley. Some keys are not responding and some keys are giving me two charecters. For example, when I press T, it writes R and 5 and the key I is not responding. I did system restore, last known good configuration, repair etc, but the problem is still there.
