Mar 28, 2009I bought my sony aw series it's working well. Just recently, I got a problem with my speaker laptop. when i try to open K-lite plaer or Window media player I sometimes get this Sizzy sound as if like the speaker is broken even i played the song at low volume but when i restart everything goes well. Sometimes this problem occurs? Is it my hardware or software driver problem?

Feb 10, 2009I just ordered the Sony Vaio FW series. The agent said the notebook don't come with any Windows Vista Home Premium x64 DVD's as back up and i need to burn the recovery disc from the OS once i receive the laptop.
1. Is this the standard practice of shipment.
2. If i am to create recovery disc from the laptop, and then at a later time format and do an install from the recovery back up disk's, does the recovery install the old factory shipped drivers & software by default. If so is there a way to get rid of this.
3. What do i do if i want to do a clean install of the OS with the new drivers from net.

May 9, 2014I was making a Windows 7 recovery disc set, usning the Lenovo Thinkvantage tools, and one of the first pop up windows that came up said "Note: DVD RAM is not supported for Disc 1 of the Product Recovery disc set". Does this meen that I cannot use a DVDs for a Recovery discs? That is all I have.

Mar 28, 2010I have a vaio cs laptop. When i start Click to Disc software, an error comes up saying
"Cannot start Click to Disc because the related programs required to create a disc cannot be found.
VAIO Content Importer will start so that you may import media files from the device to the hard disk drive."
I am not able to figure out which programs are missing for disc creation.

Jan 8, 2015I have an HP ENVY dv7 Notebook. When the computer was new I tried to make a recovery disc set. When finished I would check the discs ( DVD - R ) I would get a message saying the discs did not write correctly. Tried discs from three different packs, still the same. Called HP Support and they went through the procedure with me, still the same fail. I was told me not to worry if I ever had to have the discs because of a crash they would send them to me for free as they have a record. Now I will be using this computer mainly on the internet and think I should have the discs just in case. Called HP and was told no record, no free discs and it will cost a lot to make the discs. Is there any way to make discs or put the info on a hard drive? I do not know if the computer thinks I made a copy or not since the copies I thought I was making were defective. Â

Apr 4, 2009I am trying to replace my laptop fan in a Sony Vaio VGN-S270. I removed all the necessary screws and plugs to get to the fan, but there are three screws connecting the fan which I'm not sure how to remove. Two of them are located on the lower left of the fan and are gold in color. They appear to be spring-loaded and have a threaded center to the screw. This seems to be an extension of the fan itself and covers one of the chips.
The other screw is very small and is located up and to the left of the actual fan portion. This screw looks to have a circular head to it, but its so small I can't really tell what type of tool to use for it.

Aug 13, 2009I'd like to upgrade my laptop's hard drive, but I did not pay for the backup discs at the time of purchase. As far as I know, the only way to get my OS onto the new HDD would be through a recovery disc.
I went to Start>Recovery Manager>Recovery Disc Creation and was greeted with the screen. After pressing next, I immediately receive the 'cancel' screen telling me "Cancellation in progress... Recovery disc creation will resume where you left off the next time you start the program", but it doesn't.

Jan 16, 2010My FJ1S vaio just crashed one day and now getting blue screen of death after Win XP splash screen on boot up. It is a generic 'Windows needs to shut down to protect your machine' bla bla bla.
Here is the real problem: when trying to use the recovery disks, or recovery utility it comes up with the error 'Cannot use this utility for your computer. Confirm the model type'. I have successfully used it many times before though. Wierd.
Checking the bios, it says Machine Name and Serial Number are 'RESERVED', which leads me to believe the BIOS is somehow corrupt - shouldn't these be populated? I am not sure as I have never checked before! I assume the recovery utility checks for these details as it is OEM installed software and when it cannot won't boot.
I contacted Sony support who gave me the only option of sending it in for £399! More than the 4 yr old machine is worth!
I think my best solution is to do a clean install of XP as I have the key and could potentially borrow a CD. I would rather have the use of the recovery tool though as it is very useful and has all the pre-installed Sony software, drivers, etc.!
I was thinking of trying to 'hack' the phoenix bios with an editor - maybe too risky?

Jan 12, 2009I just last week bought an Hp G60-230US at Office Depot. Had them install Microsoft Office and clean up my computer. When I got home and tried to make a recovery disc, I keep getting a message that says "this computer does not have a drive capable of creating cd's or dvd's. Contact HP" I did this, and they tried to tell me it was the type of dvd I was trying to use (Maxell). I know Hp's can be touchy, but I don't think the type of disc would give me that type of error. Hp said they could send me a copy of the recovery discs. But my concern is with that message. Am I doing something wrong, or is my computer messed up? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I plan on calling Hp tonight, and possibly calling Office Depot to see if they did something bad to my computer when they "cleaned it up".

Mar 15, 2009When my Vaio TX770P crashed and burned recently , I removed the Toshiba 1.8" HDD1584 (80GB with ATA-100 interface and 50-pin female connector). Does anyone know how to recover the data from this disk drive?
I took a chance and tried purchasing a 1.8" ZIF LIF (iPod) HD Enclosure Case for Toshiba, Hitachi, and IBM Drives. Figured I'd take a shot for $13 + S&H since it advertised an easy USB cable interface. Clearly it was not meant to work with a 50-pin f connector though.

Today I needed to format my HD and reinstall everything, and find out that my Recovery DVD's are nor working... well, not all them, just the second one (I copy the DVD's do my HD, and there is an error when I try to copy the archive "p27.sny" in the second DVD... it was bad recorded or something, because the DVD are not scratched...).
