last week i tried to upgrade my wifi to 5300 from 3945 but when inserted it showed up but it said no connection availalbe with an X through the signal bars
so i just changed it back to 3945.
Today i tried to upgrade to a 4965 and for some reason the same problem occured. I thought the 5300 might of been BIOS LOCKED or something as that was suggested to me by another member on the forum but i found it odd that both cards were somehow blocked in a way, but they were still attached to the laptop and showing up as working in the device manager. nowa after giving up on installing the 4965 I reinserted my 3945 and now its showing up as no connections available . are there any settings in the advanced tab that i need to change?
I never install the Intel Wifi configuration utility so i dont know if that would help or not. i have tried switching the antennas back and forth from one and two to see if that works and taking off the 3rd antenna but no luck with the 4965. please help me out.
im in urget help of getting this problem fixed. thanks.
The 5300 was taken from a Sony as I've heard and the 4965 was bought off ebay and was being used fine in a Dell 1330 and is still working with that laptop as thats where it came from

I've been using my Sony Vaio Z-540 without a problem for about a YEAR
until recently (about a month?), my wifi has been acting up.
My wireless card is Intel 5100 AGN
The problems are:
1. Sometimes, I do not get wireless from the startup . my wireless isn't even in the Device Manager...
2. When I do get wireless (Device manager confirmed), wifi connection disappears with even the SLIGHTEST MOVEMENT!
3. When I do lose the wireless driver (no more on the device manager), I put it to sleep, wait 5 seconds, wake up, and my vaio detects it. [but this isn't the case for ALL the time, sometimes I have to restart the vaio]
I thought it was a loose wire or loose card, so I opened it. The wireless card is bolted down with 2 screws. So i put everything back and it still has the SAME issue.
Also, I've updated the Intel 5100 Driver to the latest (When I finally got my Wireless driver seen on the device manager) but still the SAME problem, so I'm back on my OLD driver. still same problem, of course.
when I do have my wifi, my wifi just disappears with the SLIGHTEST MOVEMENT on my laptop. It has to be still...
Ethernet connect, however, works 100%

I just picked up a Latitude E6500 from the outlet, and it only comes with B wireless. People on the forum have mentioned that the E6500 has 3 Mini PCIe slots. One is full length and has 3 antenna connections, one is half length with 2, and one is half length with 1 (for Bluetooth).
I'm planning on upgrading with an Intel 5300 wifi card, it's amazing how cheap they are on eBay. The 5300 comes in two configurations, full and half, but it's a 3x3 antenna, so it'll have to go in my full length slot.
However, most of the listings seem to be for half, and they cost the same. I figure I might as well get the cheaper half length card that also saves .5 ounces of weight if it'll fit in the slot, and the antenna wires will reach. Does anyone know if this would work, or do I need to find one of the full length cards?

The DV5T seemed to be working pretty well for me and no real wireless issues.
What has happened is that since I upgraded to Windows 7 and the new drivers, I get some hitching, rubberbanding in games, slow speeds at times, etc.
Now I know Windows 7 is pretty rock solid and the new drivers came from the HP site.
But when I started googling, seems TONS of people have issues with the 5100 card and maybe I was just lucky before.
At first I noticed my card speed goes from ~50 MBPS to max of 130 MBPS. After reading, it seems even though my router supports 40ghz dual channel yadda yadda, the card only goes to 2.4 so it can't really run at 40ghz is my understanding and that 130 MBPS is pretty much the cap.
That said, it was that way before the Win 7 upgrade so that shouldn't change anything.
One thing I noticed is that in my device driver before the upgrade, it was a normal 5100 but now with the drivers, I see a 5100 AGN.
I can't find how the AGN and non-AGN versions differ?
Could it be I have AGN drivers for a non-AGN card?
Lastly, is this wireless card removable and upgradable or can I use the slot (empty) that I have for another card and disable the wireless 5100 through BIOS?

I came across an intel 7260 card and installed it in my HP G72 with no problems. The notebook boots into Windows 7 64 bit with no errors. As soon as everything loads I try to connect to the internet and get "No Wireless networks found". I was using the intel wireless manual troubleshooter which stated the "radio is off" I checked the f12 key and have a blue light. Device Manager sees the adapter with no errors. The windows mobility center has the wifi network area greyed out. The Hp Wireless Assistant only shows bluetooth. I switched out that card for the old card and can access my network. if there is an fn key combo I need to press or a command I can enter in the command prompts or a regestry setting that needs to be changed.

i want to upgrade my wireless adapter to either the intel 5100 or 5300 cards. i understand that the 5300 has three antenna connections, whereas the the 5100 has two antenna connections.
currently i have the dell 1397 i believe. i know that the card has to be half-height mini, there are a bunch available on ebay.
from this thread:
E4200 + intel WIFI 5300 - can someone have a look at theirs ?
it seems this guy was succesful in upgrading the card on his e4200, the third antenna connection was available on the board itself.
anyone have success upgrading their wifi adapter to the 5300? just would like to know that it's easily done before ordering it, otherwise i guess the intel 5100 will suffice.

if the Intel Ultimate-N 5300 Wireless Wifi Link Card will work on my Dell XPS M1530 laptop?
I currently use the Intel 4965A AGN so i have the 3 antennas connected to it, But i can't find any confirmation that the 5300 will work with the M1530. I see that it says it's for the Centrino 2 but i don't know if it's for a certain motherboard or chipset.

I'm really trying to like my new Acer 1410. Everything was working great until I tried to connect thru the wifi. Turned out the connection was really weak. This is in my house where all my other laptops have had no problem connecting.
So I try for a couple of hours trying every setting possible on my router and on my laptop settings. Finally, I open up the bottom of my laptop and find out the black wire that goes to the Intel Wireless card isn't even connected! In fact the metal connector itself is missing entirely
So me not knowing much about electronics, I cut off a 2 inch wire (with connector) from my old laptop's wireless card and taped it to the new laptop's open black wire. Plug it in and now the signal is better, but it still sucks. Any advice anyone? I really would rather fix it myself if I can. Would it work better if I solder the two wires together? Or is the Intel 5100 a POS and nothing is going to help it?

I have bought a y510p 755m SLI with intel 4700MQ and it's performance is great, but after 20min it just drops the speed from 3.3mbps to like 2kbps, I tried ALL drivers and none solved the problem (even the windows one). I have to turn airplane mode on and off in order to reconnect. If i disable wireless N it does not disconnect but I lose too much speed (around 1.2mbps) and I really don't want that.

as of 2 hours ago my high speed has been stuck at 1 Mbps, much slower then its usual 65+ that I've had over the last 6 days since I got my laptop.
I'm thinking I may have received a faulty wireless card, since when I checked my wired desktop downstairs it's still at it's usual 100Mbps, and my sisters Inspiron 1420 has its normal high speed.
Now when I restart my wireless adapter (Intel 5100) the speed fluctuates between 4-38 Mbps for about a minute before dropping- and staying at 1 Mbps once again.
I checked if there are any computers stealing my wireless connection just in case, and as I thought no one is .....

I have had the following computer for a few days after purchasing from the Dell online store, Latitude E5540. The WiFi was having trouble connecting anywhere except close to my router, but recently the laptop is saying that a driver or hardware problem is detected in the Intel Dual Band Wireless-Ac 7260, and that Windows has stopped the device due to a problem (Code 43). The drivers are up to date, and connecting using an ethernet cable and checking for new updates tell me the drivers are up to date.

I am going to chronicle my experience with this issue. I have an Acer V7-482PG-9884 with an Intel 7260 AC wireless card running Windows 8.1 which was upgraded from Windows 8. Every 20-30 minutes, and sometimes more frequently, the internet connection drops while still connected to Wifi. Upon running the auto fix within internet explorer, Microsoft identifies the issue as a "The Defaul Gateway is Not Available." The internet connection is reset, and everything works fine for another 15-30 minutes whereby the issue repeats.
I've tried everything, switching to a different Intel Card 6205, using each and every driver available from Intel, nothing seems to properly remedy the issue. This includes playing with the power settings, turning off and on bluetooth, etc.
This is a known and widespread issue with Acer, Intel, and Microsoft.

if you have an older SZ and want to add a 3rd wire, this will show you how and where to put it.
So a while back I upgraded the the 4965AGN in my SZ750N to an Intel 5200, since that day, B&G has been noisy. I managed to arrange the antenna connections in such a way as to minimize it to within tolerable limits. I also talked to some experts and they said it wasn't going to hurt anything if there was a bit of static so I left it.
I have known for a while that is was the white antenna lead that was causing the static. Unfortunately disconnecting it caused a drop in signal. While working on my Windows 7 guide I had a problem and had to open the laptop. While doing so I noticed the white lead and the antenna it attached to. I hadn't ever really noticed where it sat before. Sony couldn't have hardly chosen a worse place for it.
Sony decided the best place for it, and I assume this is because they merely upgraded the old 2 wire wireless to 3 by adding this, is almost under the power button. Right next to... a speaker. The lead runs along a Speaker wire and puts the antenna right next to it. See pics 1 & 2................

I have seen at least one thread where someone mentioned that they had swapped out the Intel 5100 wireless card in their Z for a 5300. I have a router that can take advantage of it so I think I might want to try the same thing. I downloaded the service manual that was put up on the boards and I can handle getting to the wireless card.
