View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just acquired this Lenovo G40-70, it came with Linux so I installed Windows 7 Professional 64bits and downloaded all the drivers from the support page for my computer, I've got everything working except for this three buttons: Brightness+/- , and the Airplane button.I've reinstalled all the drivers from your website, and also the last graphics software from intel ... nothing works ...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought my laptop. Installed Windows 7 clean 64bit on it.This is the laptop's product page. I can't change the brightness of my laptop's screen. I can't do via the [Fn+Up/Down] combo nor by the Windows Power Options interface.
I tried all combos of installing and uninstalling the Lenovo Energy Management. (I got v7.0.4.1 on my laptop).I tried un and installing Intel HD 4000 (Driver v8.15.10.2696). I get Lenovo ACPIVPC v7.1.0.1 (12/15/2011) when installing the energy management thing.I've tried to install as least as possible other Lenovo crapware.
I can't adjust or change my brightness with the hotkey (F11 and F12) or even with the slider in settings. option brightness of my laptop doesn"t change it is stationary.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new z500 that I've downgraded to Windows 7 64bit. For the most part I have everything working. I accidentally hit the brightness + (yes, +) and it instantly dimmed the screen to where it is barely viewable. It seems that hitting that one key decreased the brightness to the minimum amount. I've rebooted, looked for a setting in the BIOS, hit the Brightness +/- and can't increase the brightness. It is interesting because the other hot keys work correctly. I've even upped the brightness in the Control Panel, but nothing seems to work. The screen is extremely dim whenever the machine is powered on (including the BIOS), not just in Windows. I tried a lot of intel chipset drivers, the available Intel HD 4000 drivers in Win8 and win7 too, but nothing working. How to up the brightness?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have had this computer for about 9 months and just recently have been unable to adjust the screen brightness. I have had this problem for a couple weeks and have installed all available updates and restarted the computer. I could not find any relevant information on this issue. My product is in warranty until December ....
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had lenovo g500s recently with windows8 64bit preloaded. I got bored from windows8 and downgraded to windows7 home premium 64bit (a difficult procedure by the way)....
Windows 7 worked very fine after installing the device drivers, except for the LCD brightness that doesnt respond to any fine adjustments...
In the main page of windows power management, as well as the keyboard hotkeys, the slider either goes to the maximum or minimum brightness (no stages in between though in windows 8 there were > 6 stages)....
In the advanced settings screen, as far as i adjust brightness (for example to 50% on battery, 70% plugged in) this doesnt lead to any change in the brightness practically....
I have a W500, ATI Mobility FireGL V5700, Windows 7.
When I press FN+Home and FN+END to regulate brightness up or down, the brightness symbols turn on and goes up/down, but the screen brightness is not regulated up or down but stays constant somewhere in between.
What can I do to get "brighness" working?
It has never worked, the computer is 2 months old. I have upgraded from Windows 7, 32 bit to 64, but brightness is still not working.
I used my brightness down button once and now it won't go back up. I can't adjust the settings at all, despite the graphic on the screen showing me the meter going up and down. I've checked all drivers, tried uninstalling and reinstalling lenovo energy management, and I've still got nothing. I've stopped short of a factory reset because that's super annoying having set everything up and then a couple weeks after purchase have to do it again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I can't change my screen brightness anymore. I've already tried a HD 4000 driver rollback to version 9.17.10.3223 and I also disabled "adaptive screen brightness" at the power management. For some reason I can change the brightness by using the "microsoft basic display adapter" driver instead of the HD 4000 but that isn't a real solution.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy lenovo G505 recently had to be reformated because there was a blue screen that came up one day that said there was problem with my PC and the error was critical_service_error, something like that. So my dad had to reinstall windows 8 for me using a cd he had that didn't come with the computer I don't believe. So now for some reason my screen brightness isn't adjusting and it's driving me crazy! It's staying on full brightness which I hate! I tried changing it from the personalization screen and nothing happens.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen plugged into the adapter my Levovo Z570 screen flickers between bright and dark when on certain webpages or doing certain tasks. I have changed the battery and this makes no difference. This doesnt happen when on battery power.
Note that the brightness is flicking between the battery brightness setting and plugged in brightness setting. So if there is a large difference between the two the flickering is very noticable and distracting. If I make the battery brightness the same as the plugged in brightness the flickering doesnt happen.

I recently installed a new hard drive and installed windows 7 pro 64 (previously on the other hard drive was Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit ( there I could change the brightness ) )
My problem is that I can not change the brightness .
I've already tried:
-Reinstalled all NVIDIA driver
-Reinstalled all Intel graphic drivers new
-Reinstalled Intel and Nvidia drivers simultaneously
-Remove Lenovo Power management
-Tried to install NVIDIA driver from the Lenovo and the Nvidia page
-Reinstalled Windows
I recently purchased a lenovo p500 ideapad from bestbuy around 3 weeks ago. just on thursday, i press the f11 key to lower the brightness and it imidiatley went very dim. i cannot bring the brightness back up even tho the button and the computer says the brightness is all the way up. the screen is at the dimmest setting possible. i am running windows 8 and i have checked the drivers to see if they are updated and they are but i cannot bring the brightness back up. this is very frustrating.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI will keep this short, I have a Lenovo ideapad y510p with Windows 8.1 (I got it with 8.1, did not upgrade from 8) . I noticed a problem yesterday, where I cannot adjust the screen brightness. If I use the keyboard commands (Fn + Up and Fn + Down) The slider appears on the top left of the screen, as always, but does not “slide” It stays static.
If I move the slider on the Setting menu, I can slide the value but the brightness does not change and the value is not reflected on the slider on the top left of the screen.
I am not sure when this happened for the first time.
Brightness on thinkpad doesn't work.
I have reinstalled my thinkpad W540. For display driver I have downloaded latest version from Nvidia. All other drivers are installed from Lenovo website.
OS: Win8.1 pro
When I push the F5 or F6, display brightness bar is shown, but nothing happens.
Already tried
- reinstall drivers after delete device in device manager
- reinstall programs after delete all drivers from nvidia and intel in program and features
I can't adjust brightness ....
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got the x120e and I already went through and fixed it auto-brightening itself. After I hit the Fn + Home and adjusted it to my preference. It was not on the charger when I did that and I was in a darker room so I had the brightness down lower. Later on in the day, I plugged it in to charge and I went to make it brighter. The brightness is not changing however. All the oher Fn + F keys are working. Just not the two for brightness. The weird thing is, I shut the computer, waited for it to enter sleep mode then opened it up again and it was really bright and I had to pretty much squint, but again the keys were not working to lower it. I closed it again and opened it and it is again dimmer. The keys still aren't working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhy neither the display brightness slider nor the F8/F8 brightness function keys cause any change to the display brightness? It used to work but for the past few weeks it's not. I thought that slider was able to override any preset power settings.

I have lenovo ideapad z510 came with windows 8.Then I have installed ubuntu 13.10 on it. But when ever I turn on my laptop in ubuntu brightness set to 0 & I have to manullay adjust it.
How could i turnoff it s.t. it stays as it is.
I open this post to report a brightness problem on Lenovo Z500 Ideapad. Yesterday I've upgraded to OS Windows 8.1 and when I adjusted the screen brightness it goes off, and brightness adjust function doesn't works. I've solved my problem reinstalling the Intel video drivers, downloaded from Lenovo Driver Support.
It seems that Windows 8.1 upgrade disables video drivers.
I just tried out the Windows 7 beta on my SR 220J/B and everything seems to work great except for the Fn+F5/F6 brightness controls.
Win7 seemed to work well out of the box, and I've installed the Alps and Synaptics drivers, along with the Upek fingerprint software (btw, I can't log in to Windows using my fingerprint, even though the log-in screen has the fingerprint icon...). I also installed "Vaio Event Service 2 (4.2.1.12090) -- All OS" from the Drivers & Software post, and the volume/mute Fn key controls work, but not the brightness.
How can I get Fn+F5/F6 to work?
I have upgraded to W7 pro, ran the companion DVD and everything is good except the FN brightness key (also changing brightness in W7 itself) they don't work.
I have been to the sonystyle.ca website and down loaded apparently the correct utility settings driver 5.0.0.07280 for W7 Pro 32-bit (at least it says on the website its compatable) and when I try to run it, it says it's for Vista only.

I've got 2 separate but really annoying issues with my W540 20BH:
- display brightness keys not working: when waking up from Hibernation mode, sometimer (really, randomly!) the display brightness keys (Fn+F5/F6) don't work.... either if the display brightness is stuck on max, min or an intermediate level...Is there a way to shut down and restart the process which commands the Fn keys?
- audio channel commutation gets stuck. Normal behaviour of the audio configuration is:
1) speaker volume disabled, mic disabled
2) when plugging in a 4-pin headset, headset's volume is on, headset's mic is switched on; speaker volume is still disables.
3) when unplugging the headset, speakers' volume is still 0
After each boot, the audio channel is at 0, but doesn't commute to the headset when plugged in! I have to open Configuration Panel, realtek properties. With this window open, unplug and re-plug the headset. Now, the volume has its normal behaviour.
Any better way to configure audio channels and evenments, which is able to bypass realtek's manager?
I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 on my SZ5. Was surprised at how much works out of the box (fingerprint sensor, drivers etc) but the one glaring bug I found is that when I close the lid and the monitor shuts off, when I reopen it the brightness controls (FN+F5 and FN+F6) no longer work.
I also notice that the brightness controls in Windows' power options Control Panel disappears.
I need to restart my computer to resolve this (similar problems by other users: Sony Vaio SZ1XP - Windows 7 RC ). Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!
I've done a search and couldn't find anything relevant.
My FZ of 28 months old has suddenly started making a faint buzzing noise from the screen.
At first I thought it was the fan, but I realized it's the LCD. I can't change the brightness for some reason using Windows 7 but it's on Max Bright. I've seen some threads of people having this problem on lowered brightness levels but this is happening on full.
When I shut the lid, the buzzing stops. It can be heard if I stand behind the laptop or place my ear beside either rear corner of the laptop.
