View 10 RepliesI am about to order a Sony Vaio FW490, and I would like to know how much of a difference visually that these 2 screens are. I know that the FullHD obviously looks better, but how much better exactly? And is it worth the extra $100 or so?
I have yet to see a FullHD screen at the Best Buy near me so it is difficult for me to compare the two. I have also heard that the FullHD screen is not adequate for gaming. Is this true? I am not a hardcore gamer by any means, but I did plan on playing some of my new games like Street Fighter 4 occasionally. In addition, a 1920x1080 resolution does seem quite large for a 16.4" screen. Can anybody provide some sort of screenshot of the FullHD screen?
I dont get what the differance is.
All uk Sony vaio FW's and AW's have X black.
All US sony vaio FW'S and AW's have Xbrite.
is there any differance?
Which would you choose and why?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am thinking about getting FW390 CTO. How does regular font look like on FW390 with XBRITE-FullHD 1920x1080? If you use Word or Excel in this resolution does it look too small?
I currently use 22" with 1680x1050 resolution and font looks good to me. I cannot imagine fonts on 16" with 1920x1080 resolution.
I was asking about the difference between XBRITE-ECO and XBRITE-FullHD. To my surprise, the rep told me the XBRITE-FullHD is LED backlit (which I think it's not true). I ask her to confirm that and she came back with the same answer.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI recieved my studio 16 2 days back and so far its been treating me well. I got the deal in Canada for a whopping 1350 .
It has the standard features that are found on most dell studio xps 16's here on the forum. I wanted to get some advice from you guys. You see I went with the native WLED 1366X768p screen and I am not too happy with it. When I was customizing the system I didn't see a point in spending 300 additional bucks on the higher end screen. However now I am thinking of getting the 1090p resolution LCD. How has the experience been for people that have the RBGLED? Is there a way to get it at a lower price? and is there a way to get higher display resolution on this current screen? perhaps through a different GPU? I am just considering my options here since I really do like this laptop everything is fine. I guess I'm just looking for a more crisp resolution and the price is too high
I ordered my XPS 1640 on the 5th, it is due to be delivered to me on the 23rd. I was looking over my order and found this a bit confusing:
1 320-0997 Premium FHD WLED Display Obsidian Black, 2.0 MP Webcam
What is/are the part number(s) for the 16" 1080p RGBLED screen? My Dell order keeps getting some 1080p 15.6" WLED screen ... I'd like to use the part # and get the manager to fix it quickly. Also what is the part # for Bluetooth?
View 9 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if the Dell XPS 16 will be getting its RGBLED screen back? I find it kind of strange that they took it out after they introduced the ATI 5730.
View 10 Replies View RelatedRGBLED vs WLED, both 1920x1080. I already ordered my sxps16 on 8-4-09, I went with the WLED, I bought it when it was 25% off select laptops, couldn't pick RGBLED at that time.
I have been racking my brain about this, tried to cancel but it was to late. Should be here soon, ten days since order and still not shipped. I HATE WAITING! They told me after I recieved the laptop I could return it.
I just orderet an Dell XPS 16 with a WLED 1080P screen and i should have it on the 25. of August.
Then yesterday i went to dell's side and now they offer the same laptop at same price but with the RGBLED screen instead.
It seems its a new RGBLED screen as its not 16" but 15,6" as the WLED screen.
I dunno what to do. Would you guys return the laptop and order a new one with the RGBLED instead?
When I go on the Dell website (both Canadian and American, although I am in Canada) and I customize one of these laptops with the rgbLED display, as soon as I switch the system colour to any other colour than the default black the rgbLED switches to a WLED, but the cost stays the same.
Is this a glitch, when it says WLED does it actually mean rgbLED? (or else why does it still cost the same) I was curious because I was definitely getting interested in the rgbLED, but I would much rather have the laptop in white.
I delayed my purchase for 1 day and RGBLED is gone on the UK site for the XPS 16. same as the US as well!
Is this a shortage problem ?
They pulled Blu-Ray as well from the uK site a while ago.
Regarding WLED screens are they covered in hard plastic as well?
in the M6400 owners thread I read about the fact that the normal version of M6400 is also available with this type of panel.
I don't see it at the configurator, so only a mistake or did I miss something?
I'm looking for a glossy, bright, rich color screen that has really, really deep blacks. There were some comments in the RGBLED settings thread that the blacks don't get very black on this screen. Is that true?
Would a white LED screen have better blacks? I don't care about photo work, I just want the best looking screen for games and movies.
Anyone else with this laptop find that the screen has a very warm-reddish white balance, or is it just me? Compared to my MBP and other Dell laptops and screens, it has by far the most reddish whites.
I've tried the many ICM profiles posted here, and it definately made a difference. I'm now getting much more accurate colors, but the white balance itself remains quite reddish.
To make matters worse, the ATI CCC which, on my desktop computer, gives me White Temperature controls, those same controls are non-existant on the 1640 (same Catalyst 9.9 drivers).
It seems Dell does not have any RGBLED screens available for the XPS 16. What are the biggest advantage of the RGBLED instead of the other options Dell offers? Should I wait for the RGBLED? I'm not going to do any high-end photo or video editing, and I've heard that's one good reason to have that screen.
View 10 Replies View Relatedmy order is being messed up with a 15.6" WLED 1080p screen, but I asked for a 16" RGBLED 1080p screen. I read on here that sometimes Dell installs an RGBLED even though it says WLED. How would an end user tell the difference, apart from "colour", which is subjective? Like is there a way to show it in something such as Device Manager or is there a way to look at your part somehow? I'd rather not rip my screen apart, but if it's not RGBLED then Dell is going to have to send a tech and the right screen.
View 10 Replies View Relatedwhere there is maybe a video or series of pictures or something where I can test my brand new Full HD RGBLED screen.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I recieved my laptop yesterday and opened it up today. I got everything set up and messed around, yet had to go out for a little while. I left it off power yet when I went to start it up the screen didn't come on! The side light is constantly white when plugged in, and an external monitor works perfectly fine. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this issue? I there any button I could have pressed to cause this problem? Or is a call with dell my only answer?
*UPDATE* Issue resolved by buckZor: Shutdown gracefully, disconnect power. Remove battery. Wait 3 minutes. Plug battery back in & power, open and boot. Display light up?
I noticed its not an option anymore through Dell. Maybe I'm not just looking hard enough, did they get rid of it. The best option now is Edge-to-Edge FHD Widescreen 15.6 inch WLED LCD (1920x1080) W/2.0 MP?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs this machine run too hot to have on your lap?
I currently have a 5 day old m17x and am considering downgrading to a xps 1645.
if the machine runs so hot i cannot use it on my lap it could be show stopper
My 1647 came in yesterday. I was pumped to finally have it.
As soon as I pulled up IE I noticed a very distinct yellow tint to every color displayed on the screen. This is very annoying and I'm not getting used to it at all. The difference between this display and my Mac Book Pro is unbelievable. The colors on the MacBook are better in every way. I'm very disappointed in the display. I had hoped it was going to blow me away, but instead I'm very underwhelmed.
Has anyone else noticed this on their RGBLED display? I've seen it mentioned on other models on this forum, but no mention on other 1645/1647's.
Is it worth it to pay the extra $250 for the RGBLED? Or is the WLED LCD just fine for Blu-ray viewing?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just got my new system yesterday, and the screen is mighty bright, with very bright and detailed colors, which seem fake and cartoonish...
It's a beautiful screen, just bright... The colors seem like they are highlighted, and not natural.
Who has the correct setting for this monitor?
Just curious if anyone else is having this problem/glitch when I unplug the laptop from AC power and the screen brightness is turned up about more than 1 tick the screen turns really red and dark but then brightens up a second later.
It seems odd that it turns mostly red and then back up to normal in a second
Please post only setting of your screen settings, just having problems finding the right colors.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwondering how many of you RGB-screens owners who have good/normal white colour ???
if so, what setting (or software) are you using.
Has anybody ordered the RGBLED display and received the WLED one instead? I ordered the RBGLED (as shown on my receipt and Dell confirmation email) but my shipping confirmation says WLED. I am on the phone with them now, but they are only seeing WLED now (since that's what it's now showing for them). If you had this issue, how did you get it resolved?
