In the past few days, a new problem arose. Pushing the green ON button is not enough - the light doesn't come on, nothing starts.
I must remove the battery and replace it, then all is well.
What could have caused this?
(This TX is about to be replaced by a Toshiba R600 with an Intel SSD - perhaps it's embarrassment?)
if I could change the processor and GPU of the model VGN-FE48G/H.

Is it the case that by purchasing a set of Recovery DVDs from Sony, I will be able to initialize my TT without the bloatware? (Then this might save me the hassle of a semi-clean install, and something going terribly wrong during the process).
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy work computer will flicker, go blank/black and sometimes I can tap on the battery or the hard drive and it will come back. Sometimes (more times than not) it will require a total reboot. Lately it won't even load. It will load the Dell screen then it says Starting Windows the logo comes on then it goes black. It still loads and everything but I can't see anything. I've replaced the hard drive so I know it's not that. I've loaded the computer in safe mode and I have NO problems with it when it's in safe mode, only when it boots normal. I tried the FN+Power but nothing happened when I tried that the numberlock LED is the only one that stays lit, the others didn't start flashing or anything

Okay so, I got my Lenovo Ideapad Y500 a couple days ago. Liked it and all BUT when I had my mouse connected into the laptop and then turned off the touchpad, it would not turn back on. The only way I could get my touchpad to work again is by restarting the computer, which is pretty frustrating.
I searched this: [URL] .... for ANY drivers/software for the Y500 mousepad and there are none.
FN + F6 toggles the touchpad on and off and I have tried to turn it on and off, with and without the external mouse connected.
Several times a week, my bluetooth mouse will freeze. I can still use the touchpad or the red dot. Fix is to Fn+F5 and stop and start the bluetooth radio. Looking in Lenovo System Update, I can see the Bluetooth driver is a recent install and is version 6.5.1.4500 for Windows 7 [32/64].
Mouse is Targus bluetooth mouse, model: AMB09US
I understand you can run off the adapter, But with the battery installed , i cannnot. If i plug adapter in like Iam charging it (not turning power on ) the light in front lights up just briefly then nothing. I also can't power laptop on. If i run the adapter with no battery in laptop everything works fine. What causes that? Just a bad battery? motherboard is new and so is the cord.

I thought it was out of battery so I left it on charge for about an hour. I then came back to it ands tried turning it on but nothing came up. I have hard reseted but it still won't come back on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a brand new Acer R7-572-6805. When I press power button nothing happens if AC adapter is not plugged in. I would expect laptop to start/boot because the battery inside is brand new and fully charged.
Also, I'm worried that nothing happens when I press for 4-10 seconds a battery-reset button on the bottom of the laptop in a small hole in the middle (I use paperclip).
1. Update BIOS to the newest version 2.04. Note: during flashing new BIOS version the orange LED didn't blink but shined!
2. Tightened all screws on a casing.
3. Replaced a charger.
4. Pressed batter-reset button.
5. Pressed power button for more than 10 seconds while AC adapter was plugged in, was not plugged in and when battery was not plugged in too.
4. Reinserted battery many times.
5. Checked voltage of a battery. Two cells showed 3.11V and the other two cells showed 3.81V. I manually charged the first 2 to 3.78 so that all 4 cells have similar voltage. The proper voltage makes me think that the battery is fully charged.
Other observations:
1. When AC adapter is plugged in then the orange LED is blinking (it seems to indicate that the battery is low) after approximately 6 seconds from pressing power button, i.e. from start. It doesn't change if I go to BIOS or go on with Windows boot.
2. When battery detached then the orange LED does not shine at all.
3. When AC adapter is plugged in then laptop starts.
4. Windows 8.1 is installed. The first time I used the laptop I plugged AC adapter in, powered on the laptop and went on with the installation.
5. Wall AC outlet provide 230V in my country (in contrast to 110V in US, but it shouldn't matter becuase the charger is capable of working in both systems according to its specification).
I have a MacBook pro which I was using this morning on battery power, closed the lid to take a break, now it won't start up again. Tried plugging in the mains but nothing?
The small 'sleep' light at the front isn't pulsating as normal but is on all the time.
I was working on my laptop without the mains power and it completely went dead and refused to restart.
If I take the battery out and use on mains only the pc is fine.
Does this mean the battery is causing the start up fault and needs replacing?
I left my T400 on overnight running on battery (clearly not the brightest idea), and now it won't start up. The plug and battery lights do illuminate when I plug it into an outlet; when I turn it on, the num lock and caps lock lights illuminate briefly, and the power status indicator light illuminates. It makes a few whirring noises, and then just sits there. !

Suddenly, I have begun to receive a message on Start Up from HP Battery Alert. The message tells me that the level of the battery is critically low and that I may have to replace it. There is a web address offered to find out more - www2.hp.com/techcenter/startup/ (that address led me to this forum)
The battery charge monitor in the far right of the status bar tells me that there is no charge in the battery so that I can't use it without the mains lead. It also tells me that it is not charging, even though the mains lead is connected.
I boot up my Dell Inspiron 1501 with WinXP and it always gives me this error message after the Dell logo screen appears and before windows loads........

I press the start up power on button and the computer loads the Dell Intel screen and sometimes makes it to the microsoft start up screen. I end up recieving a warning of the battery cannot be identified and this system will be unable to charge this battery. strike F1 to continue, F2 to run the setup utility, Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics.
I have had the laptop and the same battery for almost 5 years. the batery life has been degrading over the last couple years and was to the point of only having 20 minutes of life. I left my laptop in the car for a couple days when it was very cold. I brought the laptop in to back it up onto my external hard drive and notced in the lower right hand corner that the laptop was charging yet their was a red X displaying near the battery. The latop shuts down if i disconnect the power supply.
I own a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series i7537T-5005sLV.A short while ago I tried to power on my laptop but it didn't come on. I thought that the battery drained and I didn't notice however when I plugged in the power cord no lights came on. I decided to open up the laptop and remove the battery and put back the battery and try to power on the laptop. It came on after doing that and I saw lights again.
I also notice that after reseating the battery, the latency between pressing the power button and the laptop actually coming on is shorter. It is almost instantaneous.Before there was about a 1.5 seconds delay. (THIS COULD BE MY IMAGINATION THOUGH)
I also noticed that I got little "pinches" or small shocks when my skin comes in contact with the edge of the laptop, especially at the end of the palm rest area. The shocking sensation could be cause the hair on my hands as my skin brush along the edges of the laptop as I type. I say this because I've never experienced a shock touching anywhere else on the laptop and I never felt a shock while using the tips of my fingers to touch the edges.
One last thing I feel I should mention. Around the SD card slot area there is a small dent protruding outwards; barely noticeable. It was a brand new laptop and the seal on the box wasn't broken or tampered with so I am assuming that this was a manufacture's defect. One I was willing to overlook since the dent wasn't that bad and added some character to the laptop. However I am beginning to worry that the unit might be damaged and that is why I had the power issue.The laptop is about two weeks old. I had to replace the first one because the display had horizontal waves running from top to bottom. Even in the BIOS. They were especially visible against gray backgrounds.
I am using Lenovo T500 laptop for last 2 years. yesterday suddenly its battery stop charging and a red light of battery start continuously blinking. i have read many forum for charging solution and found one solution, i press the power button for 30 sec and then insert battery and charger cable. With this trick battery start charging but after 2 hours battery again stop charging. Till now battery is not charging......

I picked up one of these on ebay a few weeks ago for OCing purposes and the fan on this thing is driving me nuts. It's louder then both my laptop (on high fan speed settings) and my server which has 2 120mm fans. I opened it up and saw that the little 30mm fan isnt even mounted to anything. Would it be safe to tear the little bastard out?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 5920 that is just out of warranty and want to upgrade the 160 gig HD with a 500 gig WD. The 5920 is a wonderful machine and working fine. Looked like a five minute job to remove the ram/HD cover by removing the 7 screws visible on my rear cover. But, it wouldn't come off, felt like more screws were possibly under the MS Vista label on the cover. A web search resulted in a downloaded manual for the 5920 that said "remove 9 screws". No screws shown under the label. Looking around some more, I see 2 small "indents", for lack of a better word, that could hide the 2 missing screws. Were these 2 "indents" effectively "tamper-proof" plugs? Looking at this site, I see that others were removing 9 screws but it was also noted that the cover had to be "carefully" pried off after that. No mention of plugs. From a photo someone posted, it looks like the "indents" I see are at about the same location as 2 of the HD mounting screws. So, maybe ACER changed the design so that these two screws don't come off with the back cover anymore. Maybe the 2 "indents" I see are not "plugs" but simply undrilled holes so I only need to remove 7, not 9 screws and then do the prying. Questions: Does anyone know if these two "indents" are tamper-proof plugs or just undrilled holes? Then, I would like to know more about this "prying". What is being pried upon? A picture would be good. The back cover pictures I've seen here and in the repair manual do not show what must be pried upon.

I believe I need to remove the panel above the keyboard that houses the speakers. On other models I see there are some screws to remove below the battery however on this model there isn't.
