View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed 64bit vista on my vaio vgn-nr21m/s because I upgraded to 4gb ram. Since then I have not been able to find a compatible driver for my SD card reader.

I am looking for the very latest drivers and utilities for my FW notebook. I have 32-bit Vista but the latest 32-bit drivers from Sony are for FW3. FW4 drivers are newer but they are for 64-bit Vista. Which of the 64-bit drivers that are 100% compatible with 32-bit Vista?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to downgrade my wife's VGN-TZ90S from its default Vista to XP. I made a separate partition and installed XP then fixed the bootloader so it would load dual boot properly. The problem I'm having is I cant get a lot of the drivers working. For instance the graphics seemed to be straight forward, but none of the seemingly suitable intel gfx drivers work and when it tries to detect the integrated gfx via their website it says it doesn't recognise it.
getting all the hardware working in XP?
I have a SONY VAIO VGN-CR140E with intel core2 duo CPU T7100 1.8Ghz (which is 64 bit capable)
It came with 2 gig RAM,i recently upgraded to 4 .
I knew 32 bit Vista won't use all 4 gig ,but what i did not know was that if i go with 64 bit Vista i'm not gonna have the drivers i need..
anyone know here i can download the vista drivers for this notebook.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed Vista Ultimate on the hard drive partition of my Sony Vaio Notebook (VGN-CR4000). The other partition has Vista Home and is working fine as it came with the original laptop.
I am not able to see any wireless networks to connect to the internet on the Vista Ultimate OS. This is because I do not have the drivers.. right?
I tried to find drivers on the Sony website, but there are none for my model. What can I do?
finding drivers (Vista 64 bit) for my Sony VAIO VGN-SZ483N. I have the original Vista x86 drivers, but as expected most of them does not like to be installed on a Vista x64 O/S.
Is there a site that someone could recommend please, or has someone with an SZ4xx attempted this "upgrade" and is willing to share his/her experiences.
I have tested my gaming machine with x64 against x86 (both Vista) and could say with reasonable confidence that the x64 installation outperforms the x86 installation without a doubt. It would really be good to change the O/S to x64 from the OEM x86.
I' got a new VGN-FW375J laptop, it was cheap, but I would like to downgrade Vista Home to XP, and need drivers.
I have an original XP Disk but that does not installing. because first I need to download somewhere a driver to Blue-Ray disk driver, to unpack my XP disk and to incorporate there that driver and burn a new boot disk.
But the first a have to be sure that there are all driver for this laptop or it will be a waist of time.
I own a vgn-SR190. I recently had HD failure, so had to buy new HD and reinstall vista. My original version of Vista was Business 32-bit. I didn't make a recovery disc. So I went out and bought vista ultimate 32-bit. Figured I wouldn't have problems, but I did.
I'm having the driver issues that someone in another thread talked about, when you get the problem with vaio mode switch and the battery issue. I downloaded the drivers for Vista Business, figured it would be the same for Ultimate. But I just read someone's post here that the home premium 32-bit drivers are the same as the ultimate 32-bit drivers. Is that true? if it is, I would just have to download the home premium drivers. I just wanted to know if anybody knows for a fact that the home premium drivers are the same as the ultimate drivers, seeing as the business drivers are obviously different.
if there was a way to do a clean install of Vista (preferably Ultimate 64-bit) on the Vaio Z and have functioning s1/s2 and speed/stamina and Wlan controls. I found the guide for 7, I was wondering if there was something like it for vista, or at least a place where i can get the drivers. My viao Z came with alot of "bloatware", and i'd like to have it snappy.
View 10 Replies View RelatedNow that I've got a F series here's a new thread with tested and working drivers and utils for a clean install. The SZ and AW drivers threads are still going strong with 1500+ and 500+ downloads respectively.
Drivers and Utilites are from US & EU VAIO Support. All drivers have been extracted to bypass the model version check.
How to Install
To install extract the archive to a folder, e.g C:drivers.Open Device Manager and right click through each device selecting "Update Driver Software". See pic Install_Step_1.jpgSelect "Browse my computer for driver software". See pic Install_Step_2.jpgBrowse to C:Drivers and make sure "Include subfolders" is checked and click Next. See pic Install_Step_3.jpg
If an updated driver is found it will be installed. Don't worry if an updated driver isn't found. Some devices don't need updates.....................
Driver and Utilites below are from VAIO FTP, US/EU VAIO Support and Intel Download Center. VAIO don't always post the same versions on their EU and US sites and new drivers aren't listed for older models even though they are compatiable. Sony are also slow to make the latest Intel drivers available. All drivers have been extracted to bypass the model version check, usually found on drivers from the US site.
How to Install
Most of the folders only contain the driver and *.inf files. I prefer to install drivers this way to prevent the installation of software I'll never use.

THIS IS FOR WINDOWS VISTA 64-BIT ONLY
My system is VGN-AW190.
There are already a couple of "guides" floating around that describe how to install a clean copy of Windows on Sony laptops.
The process is fairly simple and involves installing certain Sony software and drivers in particular order (according to Sony).
For FW series, the guide is here: Official Vaio FW Clean Vista Install Guide
When I first installed Windows Vista Ultimate, I had no problems getting everything to work EXCEPT for the following:
1) CompactFlash (JMicron JMB368 ExpressCard CF) driver is not available on Sony's web site. When inserting the card, it does not show up as a drive in Windows Explorer. After some time playing around, I figured the following 2 ways to make it work:
a. Insert your card, go to device manager and click on "scan for hardware changes"
b. Boot Windows while the card is inserted
2) SD card slot works but is not mapped to any drive. While Ricoh MS driver automatically creates a drive, there is no driver on Sony's web site that would do the same for SD slot.
Sony's support is useless to a point where they told me that the reason why my CF cards do not show up and there is no drive mapped to the slot is because the laptop does not support cards larger than 4GB (and I have only 8GB Sandisk cards) What a joke. I finally managed to get a 2nd tier technical guy on the phone who said that Sony does not provide CF drivers and that there is nothing they can do about it..........
I have a new XPS laptop and wish to sell on my old Inspiron laptop, however I've lost all my restore disks and OS disk for it that came with it. What I do have is my OS disk and driver disks that came with my new XPS laptop.
I know I'm not able to use the driver disks on my Inspiron because it's different hardware, but do we think the OS disk will install Vista on my Inspiron?
Both have their own Vista licences stuck to the bottom of the laptop and both are licenced for Vista Home Premium, so as far as I can make out this would be lawful.
So would the OS disk work? I can't see any reason why not and suspect that the OS disk doesn't include any specific drivers or anything. The only thing I noticed is that the installation doesn't prompt for a key, so I was concerned about that part.
I took Vista off about two months ago and would love to put it back on but Dell still has not updated their video card drivers and I am told thats what has to happen to make Vista compatible with Dells D/Dock. Does anyone have the D/Dock working with Vista or have any goo ideas how I could get he D/Dock to work with Vista?

View 9 Replies View RelatedLast week I ordered a XPS laptop from Dell with 4gb Ram. I had read that the full 4gb would not be available as the sipplied Vista would only be 32bit ?
When I was on the Dell site configuring my purchase it wouldn't allow me to upgrade to the 64bit Vista although the option was there.
When I selected the 64bit option I just kept getting a box saying there were compatibility issues with the Resource DVD .....
I have a new HP 255 G2 laptop. I instaled Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit operating system and downloaded the drivers from HP Support Center. None of the Wireless LAN drivers work. In Device Manager, the Network Controller's Hardware ID is PCIVEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_217F103C&REV_01
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an acer aspire 5630 laptop which I bought in October. Now I had to repartition and reinstall windows vista for some unavoidable circumstances. But I have lost all the softwares like NTI CD/DVD maker and drivers like modem. I do not know what the problem is but my dial up modem does not work. It shows something else in the modem list (Contexant) that is different from what was there originally ("HD audio"). Whether the telephone line is plugged or unplugged it shows the same error message. I mean the error message like no dial tone is shown while no telephone line plugged. Besides it does not produce the speaker sound even after enabling so which it used to do before.
Moreover, now as I have lost the softwares like NTI CD/DVD maker, how can I reclaim them as my warranty has not yet expired. (the driver is not in their website)
My HP G60 came with Vista. It has been upgraded to Windows 8.1 but the audio function has become non-functional. Is there a need for a new driver to solve this issue? If not, I am thinking of restoring Vista from restore disks. Can the restore disks still work now that it has Windows 8.1 in it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought Bioshock and tried to update the drivers. I read about some guys updating using these drivers, but I just have no luck.
My system:
Dell Inspiron e1705

I have tried in the past to install the files and always get the BSOD (nv4_disp error). I have tried all kinds of installation methods (driver cleaner, safe mode, etc.). Here is the most recent attempt:
1. Return clock speeds to factory original (don't know if this is necessary)
2. Start in safe mode
3. Remove drivers (driver cleaner + another program just to make sure)
4. Restart
5. Download 163.44 from here and modded inf.
6. Extract file to folder on desktop
7. Drag modded inf into folder
8. Click on the setup.exe and restart when complete
Now I either get the BSOD or my screen runs at 600x480 or whatever and 4-bit (which I can't change)
Im looking for 450 g1 drivers at yr web site. [URL]
All 450 g1 web pages don't work??
My XPS 1530 became very slow and everytime I would click on a window I got the round symbal and the screen would go white. After many reboots I saved everything of importance to an external drive and pulled out the Vista original start up disc. So I did that but for some reason only the blue tooth light comes on and the light to the left of it does not.
I click on internet and it says nothing is found. I get confused with add a network - I don't want a network I want to get back on my wireless.
I am typing from my 4 year old HP with XP and I never have these problems and it was dead easy to get onto the internet - just type in the password and I'm on.
I have had 98SE for 8 years and XP for 4 and in 4 months with Vista I can safely say that it does nothing any better than 98SE or XP did and it crashes freezes and bugs the hell out of me far more than the others combined.
Is there anyway I can load my XP start up discs for my HP onto the Dell - honestly I really want to be able to do this. Otherwise I'm going to sell the XPS 1530 - and buy a bloody Apple.
My laptop is something wrong. Bluetooth doesn't work, i have installed wireless+ bluetooth and wireless is working perfectly, but bluetooth dont work.
