As of 3 days ago I deleted the Sony Event Service from my Vaio FW and now the volume indicator doesn't show up nor does it work when I press the function button along with F5 or F6 for brightness.
I installed the Event Service again and I am thoroughly stumped.
Fixed it myself XD
I have recently updated my system and now the silver volume keys and fn+birghtness no longer display. Am running T500 with XP SP3. Have reinstalled the power manager and UtlraNav with no results.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been recovering from a virus and am trying to get things back to the way I had them and I've noticed something different about the volume meter. First off my volume indicator was missing, when I hit the volume buttons nothing showed up on screen. I realized I needed to install the energy mangement driver and did so. The issue is that I don't care for the appearance of the volume meter. It has yellowish green buttons and the volume increases and decreases by 5 with one press of the volume buttons. The volume meter that I had previously was a white white bar that increased and decreased by 1 each time I hit a volume button. I liked this design a lot better. I'm trying to figure out what version of the energy management driver I had previously that would allow my volume and brightness indicators to be the white bar instead of they yellowish green buttons. My machine type is 2359 and model is CTO with Windows 7 64 bit.

after some microsoft updates my Elitebook 8570W doesnt show me my brightness and volume bar anymore. sometimes when i restart my notebook he does show but after i plug in my BOSE portable via the headphone output he doesnt show it anymore (which he did before the updates).
i know you probably got this question alot and i searched a bit of the forum but couldnt quite get the right awnser. (and im not that familiar with HP but im quite confortable with).

Problem: I have just installed Windows 7 professional, after installing all drivers (bios, video, audio, touchpad etc - all standard drivers) there are no bar appearing when i press F9-F10 (volume bar) and F2-F3 (broghtness bar) - there were bars before for sure (volume bar with Beats icon and bar itself). Functionally it works, but no visual appearing.
Also, if you are watching a video on YouTube and pressing volume up and down on keypad (F9-F10)- the volume is changing, but the indication under video itself is freezing.
I have tried many times to reinstall audio driver but it doesnt solve the problem.
I've got HP Envy 6-1051er. I had to install fresh official Win7 x64 after my HDD totally crashed. After that I've installed all HP drivers from the official web-site: [URL]...
But now there are no screen indicators when I adjust screen brightness or volume with Fn+F key. It works fine but without screen indication and it is really uncomfortably.
I have a 3-yr old Thinkpad T500 laptop w/ XP. My on-screen volume and brightness displays have recently disappeared. Spoke with customer support and was advised to download all the machine updates....did that, but still not working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI updated the BIOS to 2.26 a while ago and ever since then there's no on-screen indication of caps lock on/off, screen brightness or volume when I change it. Since it seemed to be affected by BIOS, I updated again to 2.27 just now, but the problem persists. I needed to update the Hotkeys Feature Integration by downloading the utility thingy from this page. Probably wasn't a BIOS thing after all.

To make louder or dim the volume I have to hold the buttons. All the other hotkeys functions work . why? what I have to do?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm testing out my Blu-Ray drive and I notice that the volume on the playback in WinDVD is very low. I have to max out the volume in Win 7 just to be able to hear the audio through the notebook speakers.
The movie I'm testing is Ice Age 3. I have the DVD and the blu-ray version. The DVD plays very loud via WMP. The blu-ray volume leaves a lot to be desired.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI notice a significant difference in volume levels on my FW490. When listening to music via iTunes, or to Sirius online, the levels are adequate. However when I watch a dvd (Bluray or regular), even after turning the speaker volume as high as it will go, the volume is very weak. Is this normal? Headphone volume is fine btw. Is there a setting that boost volume when playing dvd's? Otherwise I will be buying notebook speakers.

I just could not get multimedia keys and volume keys to work (the ones above the F keys, next to the power button)
I have just upgraded my VGN-CS11S/Q to Windows 7 - 64 Bit. I have updated the FEPD driver via windows update, and installed the utilities in following order:

but no luck. Than, I have reformatted the system (actually, I have restored the image file, but is was a clean installation without any utils / drivers anyway) and installed the utilities in another order as follows:

still no luck. FN keys does work, and little OSD screen comes up as well when I use FN + volume up - volume down keys. But multimedia keys and volume keys (which is the one with lights) insisting on not working.
Is there a way to get rid of the beeping sounds that are made when you press a special button or use the volume control. Perhaps locating the wav file if there is one

I just tried out the Windows 7 beta on my SR 220J/B and everything seems to work great except for the Fn+F5/F6 brightness controls.
Win7 seemed to work well out of the box, and I've installed the Alps and Synaptics drivers, along with the Upek fingerprint software (btw, I can't log in to Windows using my fingerprint, even though the log-in screen has the fingerprint icon...). I also installed "Vaio Event Service 2 (4.2.1.12090) -- All OS" from the Drivers & Software post, and the volume/mute Fn key controls work, but not the brightness.
How can I get Fn+F5/F6 to work?
I have upgraded to W7 pro, ran the companion DVD and everything is good except the FN brightness key (also changing brightness in W7 itself) they don't work.
I have been to the sonystyle.ca website and down loaded apparently the correct utility settings driver 5.0.0.07280 for W7 Pro 32-bit (at least it says on the website its compatable) and when I try to run it, it says it's for Vista only.

I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 on my SZ5. Was surprised at how much works out of the box (fingerprint sensor, drivers etc) but the one glaring bug I found is that when I close the lid and the monitor shuts off, when I reopen it the brightness controls (FN+F5 and FN+F6) no longer work.
I also notice that the brightness controls in Windows' power options Control Panel disappears.
I need to restart my computer to resolve this (similar problems by other users: Sony Vaio SZ1XP - Windows 7 RC ). Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!
I've done a search and couldn't find anything relevant.
My FZ of 28 months old has suddenly started making a faint buzzing noise from the screen.
At first I thought it was the fan, but I realized it's the LCD. I can't change the brightness for some reason using Windows 7 but it's on Max Bright. I've seen some threads of people having this problem on lowered brightness levels but this is happening on full.
When I shut the lid, the buzzing stops. It can be heard if I stand behind the laptop or place my ear beside either rear corner of the laptop.
