Just got it working, in my earlier attempts I tried all the latest W7 drivers from the Sony FTP site, but the latest sony utils don't seem to support the SZ2 anymore.
In the end all it took was using the 'old' vista drivers from the Europe VAIO support site:
http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computin...N-SZ2XP_C&os=7
Use the correct order:
- Sony Utils DLL
- Sony Shared Library
- VAIO Event Services
- Setting Utilities Services .....
i have managed to install Windows7 in my 3years old Vaio VGN-FE31M laptop. so i just need the nvidia graphics card driver now. i have tried the latest one from nvidia website, but its not compatible. my nvidia is Nvidia Geforcego 7600.
So this new Intel Rapid Storage supposedly images your Drive onto an external drive... Doesn't this accomplish the same thing as Windows7 backup utility?
i recently upgraded my acer 5536 laptop to win7 from vista via the upgrade disc i received after sending off to acer as i bought the laptop last october. i had previously made a vista recovery disc using the erecovery program built into my computer. now i've upgraded i thought i would make a win7 recovery disc but i find that the built in acer software for doing this is now not on my system.
2 questions:
1. how can i burn a recovery dvd that i can boot from and reset my system to its first day as win 7.
2. if the above is not possible, what would happen if i tried to recover using my previous vista recovery disc. would it put my system back to vista or completely muck everything up?
I was getting ready to trash my d430. It was running XP and my SSD was so slow, painfully slow boot up, outlook loads, you name it.
I decided to try w7 and now it feels like a new computer. Boots up very quickly and my SSD is now running very fast, no hangups. Maybe it just needed an annual format and reload
I couldn't get a SDHC card to work with XP, nothing over 2gb. I tried an 8gb sdhc card and it also works. I'm going to get a 32gb class 6 card, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works, and I will have 64gb of storage.
I think I'll hold onto this notebooks for awhile longer.
I loaded Windows 7 onto a Dell Inspiron 1100 and learned the hard way that I need a WDDM (Windows Display Driver Model) compatible driver to gain screen clarity. Currently, I can't navigate to a place to even select correct screen resolution for a 14" LCD (it's 1400 x 1050) I beleive.
At any rate, there's a pulldown menu to select Dell drivers here-
Sorry for overload of questions recently. I ordered an XPS16 ( ) and I am waiting for it to get delivered.
1) Where do I go exactly to apply for the upgrade for windows7? 2) Do I apply AFTER the laptop is delivered or can I apply for it now? 3) After I filled out the respective application, Dell sends me the Software whenever windows7 comes out?
4) I see some posts in threads stating that users with xps16 are using Vista and/or Windows7 and/or XP. Windows7 is not even out yet... how are people doing that
Has anybody tried to install Windows7 on this machine?
I have the following model: AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core TL-50 (1.6 Ghz,512KB L2) 15.4" WXGA wide CristalBrite ATI X1300 128mb dedicated 2 GB DDR2 - 667Mhz 80 GB 5400rpm SATA HDD
There are no Windows7 drivers on Acer driver download page, but I've been told that I could run this system, just to install it and that it will download and install needed drivers itself!
Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my OS to Windows7 Enterprise!! But Remote Control Card doesn't work. I've replaced some batteries but no effect. Please help....
I'm in Need of Display drivers for Dell Vostro1500, Recently I upgraded my laptop to Windows7, let me know where should I get the drivers or send me the link I'm going to download the same from that link.
I has a rudimentary Linux installed, which I want to delete and then install a Windows7 Prof SP1 64bit from DVD.
After changing the order of the boot devices and putting the USB-DVD drive first the Travelmate tries to boot from the DVD but then tells me 'Security Boot Error'. I tried it more than 10 times, same error each time. The external USB-DVD drive is working fine on another computer.  I also prepared a bootable USB stick, but this one doesn't even get noticed by the Travelmate.
I'm about to receive my very first MacBook, and I will be using BootCamp in order to have both Mac OSX and Windows7 on it at once.
I've always been one of the first one to jump right upon new driver releases etc.. I always keep my eyes open, watch Station-drivers.com every day and things like that.
Now there is one thing nagging me, where do I actually get Windows drivers for the MacBook Pro? Do I need to get Windows7 on it in order to run something like Everest to identify the hardware specifics?
Wont really be any problems with either the graphics card, CPU (turbo boost) or chipset as the MacBook uses the same HM55 (or PM55) chipset like every other i5 / i7 based notebook out there, same goes for the graphics card and the turbo boost feature of the CPU.
What I don't know is where to figure what drivers to use for the iSight webcam, nor the touchpad? I don't even know what company who have manufactured them?
Is there some sort of drivers list for the MacBook Pro? Or do everyone just relay on the standard Windows7 drivers? (tend to hate those drivers, also like some up-to-date dedicated drivers right from the manufacture of the different pieces of hardware in the machine!)
I'm unable to play the MP3 songs thru windows media player in Windows7 and I'm using Dell Vostro 1500, while trying to play the songs its giving error message as "server execution is failed"

I saw this on the Sony site and wondered if anyone has this or knows of a bag similar? I would like to find one that is as slim as a carrying sleeve but with handles
I've been looking at the VGN-FW460J/T at Fry's Electronics and I would to know if this is a good notebook? I really don't care about the new i7's that are coming out, because I planning to get one sometime next year when they reach at a least 2.0GHz and at an affordable cost.
I am thinking about buying the Sony FW with 1080p. I was wondering if it is possible to hook up the FW to my PS3 via HDMI and play my PS3 games at 1080p on it
I lose about 5~10% of my battery life in a 12 hour period after shutting down my computer and unplugging it from the wall.
Anyone else experiencing something similar? No one else has brought it up for this new Z so I was wondering if I'm just a minority (granted the laptop is new and not many people have it yet)
I am in Shanghai and went to demo a new Vaio Z at a local SonyStyle store with a 3.06GHz CPU and Dual SSDs raided. The unit had Vista 64bit and 8GB of RAM... surprisingly though, no BluRay just a DVD Burner... go figure...
I tried to have someone explain to me if the design of the Z was changed because on my Z (model VGG-Z27GN) internally there is only space for one 2.5" drive (and nothing else really).
If the new Z's can accommodate 2 HDs inside, some major internal redesign had to be made. Does anyone know if this is the case or if maybe Sony is using some sort of two 1.8" Drives instead that they RAID together
I just got mine in the mail today. It says online that it's built in but I don't know how to access or find it (I got CTO without WWAN, and pro w/fresh start)?
