Sony :: New Z 256GB SSD Came With Intel Rapid Storage Vs Windows7 Backup
Mar 17, 2010
So this new Intel Rapid Storage supposedly images your Drive onto an external drive... Doesn't this accomplish the same thing as Windows7 backup utility?
I just received a refurbished Inspiron 17R SE with the HD and SSD pre-installed.  I want to use the Intel Smart Response feature to speed up the hard disk with my SSD.  When I open the Intel Rapid Storage utility I see no accelerator button.  How do I enable this feature?
I have the BIOS SATA type set to Smart Response. Â It arrived with that setting. Â I don't know of any other setting that could affect this.
I got a T430s with the nvidia nvs 5400m and when i try to update drivers etc via the lenovo system update I got a message that I should update the Intel rapid storage driver to 11.2.0.1006, and that isn't even the latest version, but anyway I mark the update and let it install and then reboot. But when I search for updates I have to update the same driver to the same version I just installed. I have tried to remove the driver via device manager, but without results.
In my HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook 15-4010nr notebook there are 1 HDD and 1 SSD (30GB). The SSD was used for acceleration in Intel Rapid Storage initially.  But I reseted it to Available  in Intel Rapid Storage and now I cannot “Enable acceleration” again, because there is no such a command in the program’s interface – it only shows disk information at “Status” and “Manage”, but no commands at all (except Acivate LED).Â
While trying to install Intel Rapid Storage Technology(IRST) Driver on my Lenovo G560 Windows 7 64bit OS it is not able to install and gives me some error regarding hardware not match or etc. error then i came to know that to install AHCI driver i have to change in BIOS Sata controller mode from 'Compatible' to 'AHCI' i tried so and then restart the system but it gives BLUE SCREEN error while windows startup logo and restart again, any solution to use Rapid Storage Technology on G560 and actually this driver was installed when i purchased the new laptop but after certain format and fresh windows installation its no more able to install, how to install it back..........
Had to replace a DVD drive in my Inspiron 15z. Its in shows up in bios but not in my computer. Seems to have something to do with Intel Rapid Storage. When I look at the Rapid Storage Info it shows the dvd in the same area as the SSD that is installed as a cache. Looks like I need to change the port for the dvd...
My Inspiron 15z was just repaired today (it got a new motherboard due to a different problem that is now fixed). But now, whenever I start up my laptop, I get an error message from Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager that says "Your system does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start Technology enabled." I have never gotten this error message before. It is only now after my motherboard has been replaced. I don't understand what Intel Rapid Start Technology is and if I should have it enabled, and if so how to enable it.
I went and put in an SD card to download pictures... Usually i would get a pop-up that asks me what program do i want to open it with.
I would always use Picasa 3. I don't get that pop up anymore nor can i access anything to open it up with a 3rd party. I have to go in and click on Computer and right click on drive F to open File from there manually..
When installing the driver from the dv3t latest driver thread ([Drivers] HP dv3, Compaq CQ35 / CQ36 (INTEL)) my computer refused to start up. I had to system restore to start up again.
I want to get this driver because of the performance advantage it states, or at least find out if there is an advantage.

Just got it working, in my earlier attempts I tried all the latest W7 drivers from the Sony FTP site, but the latest sony utils don't seem to support the SZ2 anymore.
In the end all it took was using the 'old' vista drivers from the Europe VAIO support site: http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computin...N-SZ2XP_C&os=7
Use the correct order: - Sony Utils DLL - Sony Shared Library - VAIO Event Services - Setting Utilities Services .....
i have managed to install Windows7 in my 3years old Vaio VGN-FE31M laptop. so i just need the nvidia graphics card driver now. i have tried the latest one from nvidia website, but its not compatible. my nvidia is Nvidia Geforcego 7600.
I might be heading to the US and am looking into getting a new Z11 series. There are tons of models from what
I can see- do all them have the basic stuff like back-lit keyboard and light-sensors? Also, all of them have GT330 as well with Optimus technology correct
Does the factory default., only back up the files that were originally on the drive when I first bought it, regardless of what I install afterwards? and the Custom backsup everything? I noticed that Factory Default is 10GB, but the Custom is 29GB. This is confusing because I only install two small programs on top the Factory Default. WHat is the other 19GB?
I have a Aspire 6930G that came with 3 partitions.
After I make my backup image, so I still need the recovery partitions?
Back in my Windows days and for my servers at work (just a few), I always did the following to do backup:
1) DATA Use SyncToy or copy the data folders (My Documents, etc.) to an external hard drive
2) OS and APPLICATIONS Create an image using Acronis's TrueImage, so I don't have to re-install the applications or re-configure the OS
With Time Machine, I know it backups my User folder (Documents, Music, etc.), but does it also backup the computer settings, such that in the case of re-install, I just pop-in the original OSX Installation CD and restore from Time Machine without reconfiguring the OS AND re-installing the application again?
I noticed in the Time Machine hard drive there is also an Applications folder that contains the list of the same applications as installed in my MBP.
I have a Thinkpad x130e. I completed my first backup using the Lenovo Rescue and backup application. The backup completed normally but, I still have an outstanding message in the message center telling me 'you need to perform your first backup'.Â
How can I make backup bios? What programs and from their download? I tried Application - Winphlash Advanced, Version -1.03.046, but without current original bios file not possible.
I attached two pictures for reference. The first picture is about 1 month from brand new. The second picture is today, about 5 months from new.
Now I do expect eventual wear. Wear happens. However, I generally expect to get a good amount of use out of a product before the wear occurs. I had a Dell 9300 for 3-4 years. Its keyboard has less (cosmetic) wear then my HP at 1/10 the time frame. I literally have to wear down the key to make the key unreadable. With the HP, they just use a light coating of silver over the black plastic that just wears off readily easily, too easily for my taste.
I know I'm not the only one that has this, but I'm curious what everyone else is experiencing as well. As it stands now, my A, S, D, E, N, O, and space bar all have visible wear off of the silver coating.
I'm looking to buy a new laptop and really like the XPS Studio 16. Does anyone have a XPS 16 with a 256GB SSD? Does this configuration help the cooling much?
does anybody know what model of SSD hard drives apple offer on their website for macbook pros? for example is it intel, samsung etc... I just would like to know the model so I can compare it to other models out there.
I have a Y570 with Ssd and Hdd, I installed windows 7 to hdd then all drivers. My SSD was left unaloccated, when I installed rapid drive it said failed!!! And when I restarted my conputer i got the bod. I made a full backup but it says it requires a disk, I don't have one. The pdf file for rapid drive doesn't work, is their a new one?
