View 9 RepliesI've upgraded my vaio z47gd to 64 bit win7. However my nvidia graphic driver messed up. It seems like screen divided to two sections with bad refresh rate. Anyone else having this problem?.
Also can anyone point me to the right place to download win7 64 bit drivers. I can't see them on the sony site.
I have installed Windows Server 2008, are there any video drivers available that will work for this machine with WS2008? I just have the default driver and its stretching left to right?

I just installed windows 7 on my sony z. The notebook has nvidia geforce 9300m gs which is a 512MB.
However, when I check the screen properties on windows 7 it show that the video card is only 256MB
I just noticed that there is no win 7 video drivers available for all those models except the new vaio z890 ones

Everything appears to be working fine in my win 7 installation with the exception of the video. If I install any video driver then the LCD display dim's down to <50% of its normal brightness compared to just vanilla VGA drivers. External monitor works fine.
I initially went with the official NVIDIA 186.03 driver, and this exhibited the dimming effect. I have since tried all manner of other video driver versions including laptop2go, etc and none of them work. Even had my first win7 BSOD when I installed Dell's latest Vista x64 driver .....
I am looking for the Windows XP video driver for a Dell latitude 2100. I can find the Vista driver on the site but it won't work. Need to be able to use multiple screen and with out the drivers I can't use the VGA output.Â

When I installed Windows 7 32 bit I seemed to have lost a few of my drivers, those being the scroll bar in my touchpad, my camera, and the computers ability to go to sleep.
I found this link ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/ but I don't know which ones I need. So if any one good help, that would be grea
I have an AR series notebook and need an 8600M GT driver because I just upgraded to Windows 7. I cannot find any 64 bit drivers for it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI clean installed the Windows 7. However, I am unable to install the Intel chipset driver. I try to install the one download from the Sony website and the one download from Intel website, but there is a error message come up to say I have a imcompatible machine (something like that). Because I can't install the newer Intel chipset driver, the SM Bus Controller is not installed properly too. It has a ! mark besides it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA lot of the drivers installed by default and using the Sony Update for Vista. But at the same time, some of them are also the
32 bit drivers where you might not see any functionality from them if they even install correctly.
the link below was found on notebook review (Vista Business 64 Bit Drivers for Vaio Z) and helped me a lot get rid
of the annoying (!) marks in Device Manager......
It is available now in the US support website:

I am downloading it and I will report if it works.....
I would like to let you know that the search is over. Sony had posted all the bios and drivers for Vaio Z Windows 7. You can go to here to get the bios:
Vaio Z Windows 7 Official driver available now!
Thanks for sh4rkt for the bios link. Everything is working now, including the brightness control in speed mode.
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS93S laptop. It is about 4-5 years old. I bought it in Thailand so I think it is a Sony Asian region model.
I installed Windows 7 on it today without any problems. It runs fine, but I am having some driver problems as expected. Even though there are a couple of red lights in the Device Manager, all my hardware is working fine except for the wireless network card. I don’t mind the errors in the Device Manager as long as everything works somehow. But I also can’t get the function keys working on the laptop, which I would like to have working too.
I called Sony in Thailand and they said the laptop is too old so Sony won’t be supporting it with new drivers for Windows 7.
Are there any Windows 7 drivers from other Vaio models which might be compatible with my laptop?
I've installed Windows 7 RC1 yesterday. So far, so good...
But I'm unable to make the camera work. I've tried to install the driver for Vista downloaded from Sony's eSupport site:

But I receive an error message and the driver isn't istalled.
Anybody knows a solution (another driver)?
I guess I have similar issues re drivers on win7 Home Premium 64bit. I recently did a clean install of the W7x64 (full retail) on my tt11wn/b (Core 2 Duo 1.2ghz, 4gb ram). Everything seems to be working fine, except for some driver problems:
- Light sensor doesn't work, even though it has been enabled in the vaio control center.
- Base System Device issue in the 'Device Manager', unrecognised device perhaps a card reader, but under 'SD host adapters' there is SDA standard compliant SD host controller recognised.
- Lastly, modem issues, recognised incorrectly - Globetrotter HSUPA Modem.
Have been surfing internet past few days for solutions, but didn't find any, also checked Sony Europen Support Portal for 64 bit drivers, which provides some but apparently not for the above. For me, the most important thing is get the light sensor working properly, otherwise I don't use the later 2 much anyway, but fixing them is good too.
where i can find driver windows vista and windows server 2008 for notebook sony vaio VGN FS640W ?

Windows® 7 installation is not recommended and Sony will not be providing Windows® 7 drivers for this model.

What is this? A laptop I bought a year ago with duo cpu p8600 @2.40GHz and 4 GB ram. Will not run windows 7 adequately? Thats funny because I have been running Windows 7 since the early betas and currently run the 64bit RC.
i just reinstalled winxp sp3 on a sony s3xp, i don't have the vaio installation cd but i did a clean reinstall of windows xp and installed essential drivers but it was quite slow, eg seconds to load a directory, or long pauses during web browsing
now i've installed all the original drivers and utilities and am running without power saving but it's still sluggish, eg the mouse pointer jumps about the screen rather than moves continuously when the cpu is under any load at all
I have an M1530 that has the 8600M video adapter in it.
Currently I am using the Dell 176.44 driver and I am wondering if that is best. I notice from time to time that my desktop display gets very slow where the window tracking is not smooth like normal.
I don't play games on this laptop, as it is purely for business use, but I do use programs like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, GIMP.. and other design applications.
I've been out of the loop for few years, as in, not paying much attention to my i9100 (w/ATI 9800...unmodded).
Now I've totally dumped and reloaded it with XP pro and I am using whatever MS uses for a v-driver when there is nothing else.
Everything else has been updated with the latest from the Dell site, and XP Pro too.
I use this rig for light to medium duty gaming, and soon, I hope, watching net TV on it....and then all the other standard computery things that don't really need anything fancy for a video driver ....
Hey guys, I did a fresh install and I think I am missing the driver for the Video-out from VGA. I'm on Win 7 64 bit

I have just received an Acer 5935 and I have already formatted and reinstalled Vista 32 Ultimate SP2.
The laptop has two video cards: a nVidia GT130 1GB and an Intel GM4500.
I downloaded the latest nVidia WHQL notebook driver (186.03) for my graphic card but i can't install it.
The installation stops and I have the following message: "hardware not recognised".
I am obliged to use the older Acer driver and you know they never update it to the latest and most performant release.
Anyway, it's not because of the two graphic cards...
I have had the same problem with a Dell Studio 1555 which has an ATi HD4570 512MB.
I tried the latest modded Catalyst (6.6) and I was obliged to install Dell's driver... but I could install the same driver on another laptop (Dell Studio 1535) with a HD3450.
