Device manager just calls it "other device" Acer Aspire 9301awsmi.
in my device manager,i can see a yellow exclamation mark.

i don't know which driver is this. i tried many ways to figure this out. but couldn't find which driver is that. oh, my OS is Vista Ultimate
I have just reinstalled my laptop with Vista for the 2nd time since I purchased it.
Today had an endless BSOD of 0x0000000A and nothing I could do would get rid of it.
Everything tested out OK.
Anyway, after a fresh install and installing all the drivers I am left over with a 5880 in the device manager.

I can't seem to get rid of it. The best I could come up with was BT driver. I have installed the 370 driver twice. It working fine so I don't think it is that.
1. Synaptics driver doesn't work properly, will grind everything to halt, mouse disappears, external mouse will center on the middle bottom of screen all the time, touchpad will not work. This with the version posted at support.dell.com for 1640/Win7 right now, and the version downloaded direct from synaptics.com.
2. Dell QuickSet crashes at bootup time, same download as above.
3. Webcam crashes often so seriously a bootup is required, now in testing phase with Vista 64 drivers.
I don't personally use it but I noticed a new driver for the facial recognition software dated 2/4/2010 and it lists Win7 in the changes.
So for those who used to use this and upgraded to Win7 to have it not work should be happy. Also noticed a bunch of hard drive updates I never noticed before .....
I just installed Winows 7 and after installing some missing drivers (410 + UWB, etc.)
I have only 1 missing, it's : Broadcom USH w/swipe sensor, and I can not find it at the Dell web site, they have only the Firmware file, but no driver file
should i install the latest bios driver a08 from the dell site? i dunno in these things and i wanna know if it's recommended and known to not screw things up, and if i even need it

I lucked out on my exchange and ended up being given a Studio 1640 instead of an XPS M1530, I would appreciate a link to the current best driver as far as performance goes for the aforementioned card

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had to downgrade a client's CQ58 notebook from Windows 8 64 to Windows 7 64 at their request. The process has gone quite well and I have managed to find all the necessary drivers - except one, the SM Bus Controller driver, which I am having trouble sourcing. I think this is part of the AMD Catalyst package and I have downloaded and installed the recommended package from AMD's auto-detect and this has not resolved the issue. I have also tried an slight earlier version of these drivers and this too has left me with the same problem. Is it going to seriously affect my clients notebook if I cannot find a suitable driver?

I recently put Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise on a brand new X1 Carbon Model 20A7-CTO1WW and I have a missing unknown device in device manager and when I searched for it I came across nothing for the X1 Carbon I found posts on here for X240. The little research I did I did see someone mentioned it could be the fingerprint scanner. Tried that and it did not work. Also Ran system update and that did not work....

Second, a new Synaptics touchpad driver to update too. I've always wanted to double tap to access the secondary menu like mac and I found a way to it ! With this 2-finger-gesture tool, our touchpad is exactly like MAC ! (no four fingers yet though) And now, you can double tap like mac multitouch to initiate secondary menu !

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe Wifi on my a new ProBook won't turn on. Device Manager says that the device driver for Wifi won't load and may be missing or corrupted. It says the wireless device is an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC3160 with Bluetooth combo device. The HP driver support page doesn't have a driver for this wireless device.
Specs: ProBook G1 450Windows 7 Professional 64-bitWireless device: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC3160 with Bluetooth combo device
This is a new ProBook G1 450 which I am still doing basic setup on; I haven't even added my programs to it. I am setting up the preinstalled OS with the HP preinstalled programs. It does successfully connect to the internet via an ethernet cable, and I downloaded many Win 7 and HP updates that way. But it will not connect via a wireless network. It does not recognize that there are any Wifi signals in the area. My old Thinkpad and my tablet recognize a number of strong Wifs in the area, and connect easily to the one which I am authorized to use. The ProBook says there is no wireless in the area.
The ProBook's Wifi is apparently disabled. The wireless light is on (white), and when I click the appropriate icon, there is a message saying that Bluetooth is enabled, but Wifi is disabled. The light is supposed to turn on if either of Wifi or Bluetooth or both are turned on, so it is not a malfunction if it turns on when only one is enabled. But I have not tried Bluetooth yet.
Many other ProBook G1 450's apparently have a Ralink wireless device or certain other devices. Not mine. My ProBook apparently has an Intel Dual Bank Wireless-AC3160 with Bluetooth combo device. That's what Device Manager says. And this device might be excellent or perhaps even a nice improvement. However, unfortunately, Device Manager also says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)."
The HP support page for driver downloads for my ProBook does not have any driver for such an Intel wireless device. I didn't try the wireless until having installed many Win and HP updates. At the same time that I have noticed the wifi problem, I found that one HP update won't install: that was for Hotkey Support 5. Since then, I am having a little trouble with a couple of other updates. I mention this in case it is of some interest, but I don't see any connection between these updates and Wifi.
I need driver for the following device.
PCI Simple Communications Controller

Product name: HP Pavilion g6
Product number: A3A09EA#ABU
My problem goes as following:One day I realised I cannot use my built in camera anymore. Tried reinstalling original preinstalled Cyberlink Youcam software, but as you can assume if that worked - I wouldn't be here. Then I tried troubleshooting according to HP guide. The problem is there is no category called "Imaging devices" at all.
I can place two bets on what could actually happen:
a) somehow I managed to delete basic HP webcam 101 driver.
The exact name of the device is: USBVID_05C8&PID_021E&MI_00
b) internal camera itself broke down (it's not unplugged cord issue - made sure myself)
I believe I could try installing basic separate driver for the camera, the problem is I cannot find one/cannot find reliable source. Could you send me/upload it for me?
