I've just recently upgraded my system from XP to Win 7 and I've been unable to find drivers for two "base system devices". I'm on a Compaq Presario V3440TU and my CPU is a Core 2 Duo T5300, and chipset is Intel 945GM.
The missing drivers are most probably for the Ricoh Card reader in my laptop, since I remember facing the same problem while re-installing XP once...

I have a HP Elitebook 8440p Notebook PC with Windows 7, 64 bit. I had to reinstall Windows 7 and all the necessary drivers. My remaining issue is the Missing Base System Driver. The message I get from Device Manager is:

I have this as an "other device" in device manager. I had to do a full reinstall a month ago but thought all the things were installed.
Also there is a second "unknown device" with location "on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller" are these related or is this a second issue ?
I bought my Elitebook 8560p a few weeks back off of a friend. Wiped the entire laptop clean and installed a new OS (Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit). I thought I installed all the drivers, but the device manager says im still missing a "Base System Device" driver.

I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1183cl that has been upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) and I have some issues.I have four errors showing up in my device manager, three Base System Device and one Unknown Device, and I don't know what they are or where to get the drivers (since I don't know what they are). Additionally, the battery will not charge (there does not appear to be anything wrong with it physically). I am wondering if the below errors are related to the battery issue. Have done a clean install of VISTA HP. Keep being prompted to install driver for "Mass storage controller". Device manager shows it with yellow exclamation mark. Windows cannot locate a driver. Looked on the Acer site but unsure what to install for this one.
Device manager just calls it "other device" Acer Aspire 9301awsmi.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded to Windows XP and reinstalled all the drivers I need from the Acer website. Wireless networking is fine.
The problem is, when I slide the Bluetooth switch on the front of my computer while a device (Nintendo Wiimote) is waiting to connect to the computer, "No Device" in green text shows up on the bottom of my screen. I think this shows the driver is somewhat working and the hardware is detected.
The LED indicator beside the switch does not light up.
I go to my control panel and double click the "Bluetooth Configuration" icon, nothing happens for a while, then a single dialog shows up saying "Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on." showing only an OK button.
Inside the computer management window, under device manager, a group called "Bluetooth Devices" exists, and inside is something named "Bluetooth Bus Enumerator". I have right clicked on both and tried "Scan for Hardware Changes" and nothing happened. The properties show that "This device is working properly"

All of the above actions were performed four, once with my finger holding the switch and once without, then again with the Wiimote in a waiting-for-connector mode.
My Wii is turned off with the power supply unplugged, there are no other devices with Bluetooth in my house.
how to get Bluetooth working.
There are other problems with this laptop, the card reader only supports SD cards, not Memory Sticks or xD cards. That's a problem for another day. However I would never recommend this laptop and this brand to anyone, but it was pretty cheap.
This is my 3rd day since i bought this new HP probook 4540s [Product No. B9A39PA#UUF] and i like it, i made a clean install for windows 7 ultimate x64 and i've just realised that the hp drivers support page dose not has any drivers for the ultimate version, so i downloaded the proffesional drivers, now i have all devices are installed except two devices named unknown device

I just got a new Z410 last week and yesterday the touchpad no longer shows up in device manager but has been replaced with an unknown device. Reinstalling the driver or restarting has had no effect.

Yoga 13 bought in 2012. Was working fine with 128 GB / 4 GB. Tried adding another SSD and 8 GB RAM (Crucible), and now I get the message "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. Insert recovery media and select any key."
I went through the bios and Information says "Hard Disk: Not Detected". Have tried F9 factory reset. No response. What else can I do?
I had recently performed a clean install on my notebook PC and when I rebooted it, the drivers for the PCI device and the SM BUS Controller were missing. When I go to Device Manager and try to reinstall them or check for hardware changes, my computer is unable to install them. I was also missing my Ethernet and Wireless network drivers but I installed the appropriate drivers via the HP support website. However, I am still missing these two drivers. I have already tried to install the AMD chipset on my laptop but that just creates more problems because after the program asks me to reboot the computer it stays stuck at the Windows loading screen (rotating colours around the Windows logo).

The IEEE 1394 device is now completely missing from device manager. It seems like hardware failure. BIOS reset and factory restore did not resolve the matter.
I have contacted a local service depot so the machine will go in for warranty service next week (after labour day weekend) if not resolved beforehand.

There was a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium- 64bit.
After searching around online, got a hint of what to do.

Along with finding the proper downloads, I'm not sure in which order I should be installing them (if there is a specific order at all), and if I need to reboot every time I install something new.
I have just reinstalled my laptop with Vista for the 2nd time since I purchased it.
Today had an endless BSOD of 0x0000000A and nothing I could do would get rid of it.
