I just got a new Z410 last week and yesterday the touchpad no longer shows up in device manager but has been replaced with an unknown device. Reinstalling the driver or restarting has had no effect.

The IEEE 1394 device is now completely missing from device manager. It seems like hardware failure. BIOS reset and factory restore did not resolve the matter.
I have contacted a local service depot so the machine will go in for warranty service next week (after labour day weekend) if not resolved beforehand.
I have been using this for 4-6 months this happened before and i bought it to the service center i bought it there twice, and now today it still shuting down while playing not overheating but this pop up shows up when i start it again, whats wrong and Under my laptop is a air condition running under it so not overheating.

Also there is a second "unknown device" with location "on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller" are these related or is this a second issue ?
My lenovo z410 runs games (also new "Watch Dogs") realy good only with ac power plugged in.
When I try to play (not only WD also "americas army proving grounds" but its not the point) without ac [lugged in the game is super slow!
Another point:
ac plugged in -> fan works fast.
ac not plugged in -> fan works a lot slower
How can i change settings so i can play without AC plugged in?
My Ideapoad P500 is approximately 16 months old (so the warranty period is out, obviously!) A couple of nights after a reboot I got the message "Repairing Hard Disk errors. This could take an hour or longer."... or something very similar. The laptop hung up at that message for more than 18 hours.
I did a hard reboot and now get the message "Checking media" followed by the error "Boot failed." This leads to the message, "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed."No I don't have any recovery media.Yes I have pretty recent backups so that is not a problem.I've got an enclosure that I can use to hook my laptop hard drive up to so I can see if the drive is even readable.
Now here is the 64 thousand dollar question... how do I get the hard drive out of the laptop? I have taken the five screws out of the back. At that point, I think the DVD drive should slide out, but it does not.how to get the hard drive out?
I have a y500 Lenovo gaming laptop with Windows 8, and for the past couple of days, each time my laptop is put in hibernation or powered down, whenever I turn it back on it gives me this message:
"Default Boot Device Missing or boot failed Insert recovery media and hit any key Then select boot manager to choose a new boot device to boot or recovery media."
Then it brings me to a page with 3 boot options, and only the Windows Boot Manager works. I'm doing scans and hardware scans but so far nothing is being found. This laptop is less than 2 months old so I really don't think it's a hardware problem, and I haven't downloaded anything recently that may have messed this up. I would contact Lenovo but I'm unsure if this is an issue with the laptop, or Windows 8.
I get the error in the Title after i tried to flash the latest BIOS update for the Z510. I can press ok and then get into the boot manager but i cant choose anything there. Also I cant boot from a Disk with e.g. XP on it.
I also tried the Inside BIOS crisis mode (fn+r) with the BIOS file on my USB drive but it doesn't work and tries to access the file on the USB drive but boots normally instead to the error again. (Couldn't try it with removed battery as I have to remove the whole back to remove the battery on the Z510).
Yoga 13 bought in 2012. Was working fine with 128 GB / 4 GB. Tried adding another SSD and 8 GB RAM (Crucible), and now I get the message "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. Insert recovery media and select any key."
I went through the bios and Information says "Hard Disk: Not Detected". Have tried F9 factory reset. No response. What else can I do?
I'm using the W540 with an ultradock and external monitors. After upgrading my W540 to win8.1 64 bit, device manager is showing an unknown device. I'm not quite sure what it is, but almost everything seems to be working fine and Lenovo solution center isn't finding any driver updates.
I did notice that the solution center hardware scan did not test the video card memory and listed that test as N/A. Video and monitors seem to be working fine though and both nvidia and intel graphics show up in device manager.

Faced with the problem. No sound after the laptop. When you try to check the sound device, a window pops up "the device is already in use by another application." But no program is not running. After rebooting the laptop sound occurs. Drivers are all set.

UEFI boot mode, not Legacy.Drivers for sound downloaded from realtek.com.tw. With standard windows drivers sound is always there. Tried the previous version of the drivers - ineffectually. Could it be that the problem is due to the UEFI boot mode? I do not want to reinstall the OS mode Legacy just to check it out.
I just bought a B590, model 20208, with, i3-3110m, 500GB HDD, GeForce 720M.I installed Win 7 64bits, but in Device Manager, before installing all the drivers appeared Other Devices an Unknown Device with thise details: code 28, Device type: Other devices; Location: on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controllert . After installing drivers, the problem persists.Another problem was with PCI express but resolved with Intel Management Engine Interface drivers.Other problem resolved was with the GeForce 720 M videocard; wasn't recognized but resolved with the last driver from GeForce site. the last problem remained it's The Unknown Devices.

I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1183cl that has been upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) and I have some issues.I have four errors showing up in my device manager, three Base System Device and one Unknown Device, and I don't know what they are or where to get the drivers (since I don't know what they are). Additionally, the battery will not charge (there does not appear to be anything wrong with it physically). I am wondering if the below errors are related to the battery issue. I recently put Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise on a brand new X1 Carbon Model 20A7-CTO1WW and I have a missing unknown device in device manager and when I searched for it I came across nothing for the X1 Carbon I found posts on here for X240. The little research I did I did see someone mentioned it could be the fingerprint scanner. Tried that and it did not work. Also Ran system update and that did not work....

But i cant find : Lenovo energy manager for W7 and Lenovo ATK hotkeys for W7. Hotkeys are important because i cant see how much i turning down or up music. What should i do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had two of the same Windows 8.1 OS on my Y500 (Cloned from original to SSD). Then Last night I tried to 'refresh without affecting your files' option for my OS on the HDD so I have a fresh OS to go back to incase anything happend. then on the Lenovo screen it said that the E: drive was being refreshed as well so I freaked and turned off the computer. NOw I cant access either of the OS's. What should I do? I did do a back up right before and the back up files are still there in a partition I made in the HDD. I used a USB boot of Puppy LInux to see the files on my HDD but it would not let me transfer it to an External Hard Drive. I will Try to install a better linux and try to transfer the OKR files to another Drive.
-how would I go about restoring the back up files if I were to get them on another drive?
Y510p was supposed to have Dolby Home Theater v4 and I can't find it? I looked in the program files as well as the programs and features and can't find anything about it. I reinstalled the driver from the website, and from the d:/ (LENOVO) drive, but I still do not see it. I also did not see Dobly Home Theater listed on the drivers/downloads section of the website. How I can get this?

After trying some troubleshooting, there was a suggestion to delete the drivers and reinstall it. So I go into device manager and uninstall the fingerprint reader drivers. The problem is now I can't find the fingerprint reader driver! It's not in the lenovo driver page.. I tried Windows drivers update and everything else but still not working. Where do I download the fingerprint drivers?

It looks come from the power manager driver, because in the message center, it is said, power management does not work with a compatabale problem.
On my old W520, it had a setting for making the battery last as long as possible. E.g. it didnt charge it to 100%.In my W530, which has windows 8, I can find no such option. In fact, all the Lenovo tools which came with the W520 dont seem to exist on the W530 (eiter because they dont have them for Windows 8, or they dont have them for the W530, dont know which).
The only lenovo tools I have are th "solution senter" from red icon in the task bar (which has a battery icon, but the only thing it does is say "batter is in good condition", there are no options or settings, and the thinkVantage button, which just brings up somehting like some shortcuts to control panel items - no Lenovo tools (just things like update drivers, warranty infomration, keyboard settings etc).
In the wiondows control panel itslef, are just: lenovo system healthlenovo update drivers 32bit (I never use this as I have 64 bit)Lenovo airbag protectionLenovo microphone muteIn control panel -> Power options is nothing Lenovo specific, and no lifespan mode, it only allows you to set when windows switches stuff off.
What happened to all the tools which came with windows 7, including the thing which told you how fast the processor was running, the thing to change your printer etc. with different locations?
I just bought a lenovo z50-70.. Its using Elan pointing device, the scroll is two finger scroll..however, i need the same one I am used to before in my other laptop.. if you swipe up or down one finger on the right side of the touch pad, it scrolls..
however, i cant see this option in Elan Pointing devices manager..
I have a machine (used for creating master images) with all the drivers loaded. I perform a last CloneZilla image (before doing the sysprep). When I restore the image (to the same machine) the Ricoh Card reader has status of Base System Device under Other Devices. I have tried reapply the drivers, deleting the device with drivers and rebooting so that the machine can redetect the device. No luck, just stays at Base System Device.

Its a y410p. I want to change my graphic to discrete graphic.
I have been using Lenovo g500 for about a year now but last week there was some problem with my laptop and I had to restore windows using Lenovo's restore button. The windows restores just fine and I was able to update to Windows 8.1 althought all my data in C drive got wiped. But now my laptop won't connect to any Bluetooth device. Whenever I go to PC settings, it just says "searching for bluetooth devide but it never detects my phone or any other bluetooth devide.
Also, since my data got wiped, I have to install the drivers for my printer again but this laptop won't even recognize the CD!! It won't recognize ANY CD.
And the Lenovo Veriface won't work either now.I've searched and searched for these issues. I re-installed bluetooth drivers and lenovo veriface but they still don't work. And the bluetooth drivers never got deleted from my laptop since they were installed in Drive D but they don't. laptop won't install my printers drivers.
