i just ended up buying my sony laptop. however i have yet to open the box as i am weary of it...
upon bringing it home and examining i noticed that the box was taped multiple times on the outside big box and on the laptop box itself has 3 sony seals
On the right side of my HDX 18 I have a sealed cutout with a TV icon next to it. Is that where the pin plug for cable tv and external antenna is suppose to go? Does anyone have that configuration, or does everyone have to purchase the plug?

I made a restore CD when I first Purchased the Laptop. I am now not able to restore the contents of the restore DVD back onto my Laptop

View 10 Replies View RelatedI got my new Sony Vaio NW 275 with blu ray and the ati 4570. I formatted the HD and installed a new copy of Windows 7 64 bit. I also have Powerdvd and Arcsoft total media theater. When I launch one of these programs it will start fine. But when I click the play button to play either a DVD or Blu-Ray the apps both crash everytime. And they are all patched up to the latest version. Am I missing something here? Did I not install something after I formatted?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Canon Powershot G5 and I am trying to connect this to my Sony Laptop.
The camera uses a 3.5mm AV cable but I am unsure where to plug into the laptop. In the yellow female port on the back? And I do not know what cable to use. I cannot find a male to male Audio Visual cable.
I've had this laptop for a little less than 4 years. No real problems to report. It runs on Dual core processor and Windows XP SP3. For awhile it used to make a lot of noise and it got hot. The noise issue would come and go, figured it was just the processor.
Now all of the sudden the noise stopped. Got speedfan to see what temp was and my core 1 is about 87C. (i can post more temps later, but currently am at work). Now i don't know if i should worry and purchase a fan? or just get an external cooling fan since i plan on getting new computer in about a year.
Now if the problem is the fan, does it matter what fan i purchase or can it be generic. I guess what i need to know if this is common for sz320p's or if i should worry. Laptop still runs fine, never shuts off for any random reason (except for snood), Loads programs fine, and i never get a blue screen.
Today I opened (only by removing the bezel) it up and saw the connector that was making to problem. I took out the screen to have a better look at it. I did this by simply unplugging one cable. I had a look at it and put it back in. During the process I saw the power indicator flash. Then when I turned it on after reinserting the screen, the laptop did not turn on at all. Also, the power indicator doesn't light up either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Sony laptop and when I shut it down I cant turn it back on unless I take out battery and reinsert it. The LED for power stays on until the battery is taken out. I can restart the laptop with no hassle, the problem only occur s if I shut it down and come back and try to turn it on. Other than this problem the laptop seems to be working fine

I have a Sony Vaio Laptop. Its warranty ended 7th December. Phoned them to get it picked up and now they have it so any work should be covered under warranty.
There is a particle under the screen. I took a picture of it and emailed it to Sony who diagnosed it as dead pixels. They said they would repair it for free under warranty.
Now that they have the laptop they say there is a particle under the screen. They sent me a picture of it and the photo looks identical to what I sent them earlier which they diagnosed dead pixels.
Now they are saying it was accidental damage by me and want to charge to replace the screen (same price as I paid for the laptop).
I think that this is ridiculous and that they should repair it under warranty. They will not accept these two arguments:
1. If I damaged it then I would have had to have opened the screen which there should be evidence of.
2. If the particle got in some other way through a gap then it is a manufacturing flaw because there should be no way of a particle getting in there.
Ive been having a problem with my laptop since Friday. Basically i went to turn it on and it didnt turn on so i cleaned all the dust out of the charger and my battery and tried it again and it managed to turn on. However, after being on it for around 15 minutes it just cut out on me. And now every time i go on it, it cuts out after a little while of it being on. I then cant turn it on for around an hour then it manages to turn on and then cut off and im back to square one.
Its nothing to do with the charger because that works fine so its clearly something to do with the hardware. Has anyone had problems like this before and is it easy to sort out?
I just got a new Sony Z-series laptop. It is a nice laptop, but I don't why there is a very slight vibration. It is not very serious but enough to make me feel uncomfortable. I am not sure whether it is caused by the fan or the harddrive.

First off, can anybody let me know what I can upgrade on my computer, what I should, and what I MUST (if it's not that MUST!, more like ...must, count it as should) upgrade? My laptop's current hardware is below. Oh, what do you guys think about a hard disk upgrade to a 250gb Western Digital 7200 RPM m!$#$^f#$^er?
Secondly, does any other fw user (or sony user in general) have problems with their dvd drive? Mine has this... "wow" issue, where it reads and writes dvds just fine but doesn't detect cds AT ALL. It's had this problem since day 1. So for almost a year, I'm wtfing the laptop every time i put in a cd.

I just replaced the broken jack from this laptop and when I put it back together and turn it on the screen looks like this. I think it's a loose cable but I'm not quite sure.
