I got my new Sony Vaio NW 275 with blu ray and the ati 4570. I formatted the HD and installed a new copy of Windows 7 64 bit. I also have Powerdvd and Arcsoft total media theater. When I launch one of these programs it will start fine. But when I click the play button to play either a DVD or Blu-Ray the apps both crash everytime. And they are all patched up to the latest version. Am I missing something here? Did I not install something after I formatted?
I will be needing a new laptop and was thinking about the Z. I kept wondering if the screen is too small for doing some typing on MS office, and general work on the laptop
i have an xps m1530 and my ac adapter died out recently. i looked at the ac adapters listed for my laptop at dell.com and they only had two options available, which i did not like.
so i looked at other ac adapters from the website and the ones i like say "product description for dell inspiron, stuido, and latitude laptops" or something similar in that line.
i didnt see any for xps, just for inspirons, studio, studio xps, and others. im looking to buy a 90W 3 prong ac adapter and would any 90W 3 prong ac adapter from dell.com work with my xps m1530?..
My laptop fell off a table whilst the disk tray was open and jammed the disk tray shut.
It didn't damage the laptop at all, just made a whirring noise every time I turned it on and off because there was a CD still in there (been like that for a few months). However, today the tray opened a little and so I pulled it right out. I know enough about computers to know that I haven't damaged anything else, just removed the tray.
Now my laptop won't turn on, and even the charging light doesn't come on. A piece of plastic ribbon/connector that was attached to the tray is loose - could it be that?
I have had the HP 620 laptop for about a year now , Recently upgraded it to windows 8 . So... as soon as i open my laptop , everything is fine and the wifi works and everything is basically normal , but when i use the laptop for like 10 min , the wifi randomly shuts off and tells me that i need to connect via an Ethernet cable, and when i do connect to ethernet cable it works . I am on windows 8.Â
I have a HP PAVILLION DM1 laptop and in not sure why is my battery wont work with my laptop. Â Everytie i put it back in the laptop shutsdown. im using the AC Adapter power plug always .... but i want to bring my laptop outdoor ..
I have a Dell Vostro 1500, and I recently re-installed Windows Vista on it. I installed the drivers from the Dell CD that came with my laptop, along with the utilities.
But my wireless won't work, it says the driver isn't installed =[ But I installed all the drivers that CD told me to.
I have upgraded my 5315 laptop to a T7300 cpu and iit s working fine. Is it possible to drop in a Q6600 quad cpu instead of the T7300 ? I have a extra cpu I would like to use.
If it will not work, is there a quad cpu that will work ? I am doing video editing and would like a powerhouse cpu.
I will have after Oct 22, two license copies of Windows 7. Will Windows 7 work better with the T7300 cpu ? Could my laptop be upgraded to 4 gbs if I run Windows 7 ?
I have been having problem with Atheros ar5009 on dv5 for the last two weeks. I did clean install and it didnt help. I tried almost everything on the web to solve the problem but no luck. I just called Hp tech support today but they want me to do the system recovery but I couldnt do it because I did the clean install.
I am thinking of replacing it with different wireless card. I don't know what is compatible with my system. I have amd turion x2 2.1 ghz. the wireless uses pci-e slot. can anyone recommend me a wireless card that will work with my laptop beside atheros?
Sometimes when I boot up my Dell XPS 12 laptop the keyboard doesn't work correctly. Â Certain keys don't type letters, sorta like the CTRL key or Windows key is stuck down. Â I have tried a lot of different things (pressing various keys, checking system logs, check keyboard status, etc.) and the only thing that works is to reboot the laptop. Â Most of the time this fixes the problem, but it is annoying to have to reboot when this happens. Â I have upgraded the drivers to the latest versions available on the Dell website. Â
a problem i've been having, for some reason, the touch pad and keypad on my laptop won't work...i've been stuck using a wireless USB mouse and keyboard set for about 4 days
My laptop is Dell N5110 (Inspiron 15R), it suddenly shutdown when I try to type on the keyboard. Then I tried more and more to open it again, but it didn't work. After a while, I opened it, and when I tried to write something again, it suddenly shutdown, and so on.
I have a HP Pavilion g7-1205ev laptop with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. I bought a new hard drive so I had to install Windows again. After the installation the laptop can't connect to the internet either by wifi either by Ethernet. After trying troubleshooting it says that windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter.
At the device Manager I can see that there is an exclamation mark to these exact components:  Standard VGA Graphics Adapter BCM20702AO Ethernet Controller Network Controller PCI Device PCI Simple Communications Controller SM Bus Controller  Can I download all these from somewhere ? And of course I will download them to another PC as my laptop doesn't go online at all. I also tried to run Ubuntu from a flash drive on my laptop and the Ubuntu uses the Internet just fine.
I have an HP Pavilion g6-1d73us laptop and although my headphones work properly the speakers do not. This is a recent problem. Â I have tried troubleshooting with windows troubleshooter with no results. I have checked all the drivers for audio and they check out fine. I have tried driver software with no success. Windows Media Player does not work. I get an error message when I try to use it. What else can I try?Â
I mentioned in the subject my laptop won't start. I checked forums here and tried the offered solutions but nothing. My AC works fine, green light turns on when I plug it, and stays the same when I plug it to laptop. Laptop doesn't make any sounds...my led for battery on laptop doesn't work when I plug it on AC.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and my friend has a Latitude D820.
Tonight she accidentally plugged my power adapter into her laptop. A few hours later, she noticed that her laptop indicated that it wasn't plugged in, and that's when we realized that she had accidentally used my adapter instead of hers.
Now my adapter doesn't work at all. We've tried the adapter with both our laptops with different outlets with the same problem, so we know it's the adapter. The green light also doesn't come on when it's plugged in anymore.
Did plugging my adapter into her laptop somehow screw up my adapter, or could this just be a coincidence? Is there any way to fix the adapter or at least figure out what the problem is? And if I have to purchase a new adapter, do the universal ones they sell at retail electronics stores work OK? I would order one from Dell but I'm working on a project now and I don't have time to wait for it to ship.
I've just bought a new NW series laptop! =) But it's got Vista.. I want to install XP on it but the vaio site only seems to have Vista drivers, will they work on XP?
I'll just list the details below, kind of says it all. other than the fact that I am going crazy trying to getthe back light to work under Windows again.
Sony Vaio PCG K23 Raedeon IGP 345M video card Monitor works up until Windows loads. Monitor works when running Ubuntu. Repeated 3 times Monitor works when at C: prompt. External monitor works when plugged in to port.
If I look hard enough I can see my desk top on the screen so I know it’s there Have run System Restore 6 times from restore disc that were made on first use. Have run System Restore 3 times by pressing the F10 key. BIOS was still at default values, but I reset it anyway Windows XP Home SP2 and is completely up to date. All drivers are as current as I could find. Windows indicates all drivers are working properly. Refresh rate is at 60HZ.
I know the monitor works as it works fine with Ubuntu. However I cannot run one of the primary applications
I need to use under Ubuntu so I have to have Windows loaded.
when you put your laptop into standby, does your DVD drive still work, as in, can you press the eject button on the drive, and it will turn on and activate the ejection mechanism? Shouldn't this normally be off?
I have VGN-Z620D running Vista, and there is a problem with the touchpad. Sometimes when the laptop wakes up from sleep, the touchpad stops responding completely. It does not happen always but still often enough to be annoying. After a restart, the touchpad works properly again.
It can't read DVDs, nor CDs nor (obviously) write to either media. That's a first. And I've bought entry level laptops before (for others ) - but I've NEVER had this problem before. $2,000 sure doesn't buy what it used to.
Windows Explorer can see the drive and it definately has power, but there's some sort of defect that prevents reading or writing (I'm guessing either the optics or the laser emitter). Either way, now I have to wait about a week for someone to show up on site to replace the optical drive.
I have a VAIO SZ3 an I decided yo make a win vista clean install, I installed all drivers and everything works correctly except the FN+brightness or FN+ any combination. But misteriously FN+volume and mute works, I don't know why.
I also realized that when I switch the button of speed and stamina the window that ask you if restart does not apear.
Is there any way to enable the GPS on the Vaio Z with the Qualcomm chipset while maintaining wifi connectivity? I use Pdanet for sharing my 3g connection with my iphone and the only way to do this (other than using the cable, which isn't an option) is to use wifi.
I'd like to also have the ability to use the GPS functionality of the Z at the same time but because of a software restriction I can only use one or the other simultaneously.
I was wondering what the smartwi program actually does to enable GPS? Is it some sort of command it sends to the device?
I know on the earlier Z models with the Option chipset there was a command that you could use in hyperterminal to enable the GPS function, however it doesn't work for the Qualcomm and I'm unsure of whether terminal access is even possible with this device.
I am having problems to reduce the brightness of my screen (i cant use it full brightness)
What happens is that if i press FN + F3 or F4 (sound) it works perfectly, but when I try FN+F5 or F6 I can listen to the sound that i pressed that, I can see the little black window with the bars but it does not reduce.
how to fix it?
again, it is a VAIO VGN SZ340P. Windows XP profissional SP3
I just realized that if i change from speed to stamina on my keyboard, the FN+brightness works properly
