Dell :: Would Any Ac Adapter From Work With My Laptop?
Jan 29, 2010
i have an xps m1530 and my ac adapter died out recently. i looked at the ac adapters listed for my laptop at dell.com and they only had two options available, which i did not like.
so i looked at other ac adapters from the website and the ones i like say "product description for dell inspiron, stuido, and latitude laptops" or something similar in that line.
i didnt see any for xps, just for inspirons, studio, studio xps, and others. im looking to buy a 90W 3 prong ac adapter and would any 90W 3 prong ac adapter from dell.com work with my xps m1530?..
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and my friend has a Latitude D820.
Tonight she accidentally plugged my power adapter into her laptop. A few hours later, she noticed that her laptop indicated that it wasn't plugged in, and that's when we realized that she had accidentally used my adapter instead of hers.
Now my adapter doesn't work at all. We've tried the adapter with both our laptops with different outlets with the same problem, so we know it's the adapter. The green light also doesn't come on when it's plugged in anymore.
Did plugging my adapter into her laptop somehow screw up my adapter, or could this just be a coincidence? Is there any way to fix the adapter or at least figure out what the problem is? And if I have to purchase a new adapter, do the universal ones they sell at retail electronics stores work OK? I would order one from Dell but I'm working on a project now and I don't have time to wait for it to ship.
My Dell Vostro 1500 is not charging while plugged in. I get the following error message- The AC power adapter type cannot be determined.
Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 90W AC adapter or higher for best system operation.
I have the Dell 90W adapter. On googling this problem I found out that the problem is with a circuit in the adapter that breaks and the adapter doesn't recognize
it as an original Dell. the only solution seems to be to replace the adapter. However I don't want to spend $70+ if its going to happen again in a few months. So I am thinking of buying a generic one on eBay
I Just had my Alienware m17x R4 for 2 days and the AC adapter doesn't works. Yesterday it was ok, but today it's dead. It's not passing electricity to the laptop, in fact the light in the cable is off.
What could it be? Why a new adapter of a new computer simply stops working after only two days of use?
I have a dell inspiron m5030, which is out of warranty, and unfortunately it wont charge the battery, or boot from the ac adapter and since the battery is dead I can no longer turn on the laptop. I already sent this laptop back to dell 2 prior times when my warrenty was still active due to the 7 beeps and I think that the mother board is going bad for the 3rd time.
We are running more than200 dell computers in our company. lately we purchased E7240 for some users but it looks like the AC adapter does not work with the Dell E-Port docking station we have and that cause the USB hubs not to function at all.
Currently the workaround is to plug the AC adapter to the laptop instead of the docking station.
Our BIOS is updated to the latest version. also a message comes up when the ac adapter connected to the docking station before the windows boot up saying the ac adapter won't charge.....
I have an Acer Aspire 4720z notebook and decided to hook it up to my tv. So I got my 7-pin to composite adapter which came with my video card for my desktop and plugged it in to give it a shot to see if it would work and no go, it just won't detect being connected to the tv. I read the manual and searched online to see if this perticular notebook allowed for s-video to composite or if Acer made one for it themselves, again no go. So I was wondering if anyone has this notebook, or the 4710 or 4720 which I think are identical hardware wise, are able to connect one to it and actually get it working?
it uses a mobile intel 965 express graphics chipset.
I recently had to open up my HP G7 laptop to blow the dust of my fan and under the keyboard. When I put they keyboard back together, my wifi didn't work. I'm now on a ethernet connection. Opening network connection, there's no wifi adapter icon. I've tried installing the driver, but mid install I get this message "The driver files you wish to remove will not be removed as the corresponding card is not installed". I don't know what this means, but when I finish the install, the wireless connection is still not shown in network connections, and the driver doesnt show on device manager. What else can I try?
i was watching family guy in the kitchen today and when i plugged the laptop back into the AC adapter it just shut down,
i attempted to restart but it will not boot up at all ive attempted to take the battery out and then try with that however nothing happens at all any ideas on what ive done and how to fix it?
I just purchased a Latitude E6430 to replace my aging Latitude D630. I like to keep a second AC adaptor in my laptop case just for travel. When talking with the telephone sales agent at Dell, she told me the two adaptors are not compatible, yet both are PA-12, 65W, 19.5v, 3.34A. the only difference, is the old one is 2-pin and the new one is 3-pin. Is she blowing smoke at me?
I also have an off-brand "universal" audo/air/AC adaptor for the old computer that's, 90W, 19v, 2.7A that was listed as compatible with the D630. Are these all compatible with each other?
i have a dell B130 and the AC adapter will not work .... the light will light up but as soon as i plug it into the laptop the light shuts off and i get no power
now either this could be the AC adapter got to hot and blew something or it could be a sign for the mobo. I just need yall to help me out so i kno
My concern with this is the fact that with the battery removed, there's going to be a big space underneath the laptop where the battery used to be that's just asking for a bunch of dust and dirt to come in. Is that an issue? Or am I mistaken in believing that removing the battery sounds like a bad idea?
Also, is it necessary to remove the battery if I intend on using the AC adapter most of the time, since the only time I'd be away from a wall jack would be when I travel. When I'm at home, I can easily just plug it into the wall rather than use up the battery.
I just gave my wife a new HP Envy 15t touchscreen laptop. She plugged in the ac adapter to charge up the battery and the adaptor got very hot. Is this normal?
I have a Dell E4310, about 2 years old. When I connect the charger just to a power socket the green light on the charger comes on but when I plug the other end into the laptop the green light on the charger goes off, I have taken the battery off the laptop and it still does the same thing, and in both cases the laptop will not power up and no light appears on it.
I have an HP Compaq nx7400. I've had it for over 3 years now. I've never changed its battery ever since I bought it.

Over the past few weeks, I've been having an unusual problem. Whenever I plug the AC adapter to my laptop, the whole laptop performance - from the second I switch it on - is very slow. The moment I pull the AC adapter from the laptop, it instantly operates at a normal and fast speed again!
I figured that it must have been a problem with the AC adapter (it's had its fair share of use - being swung around and dragged to lectures...). So I ordered another one off Ebay. Today, I got the new adapter and when I plugged it in, the laptop only went on AC power. It worked fine - fast as normal. However, it was not charging - just on AC power. I am starting to question if the adapter was really as "genuine" like it was advertised on eBay. But anyway... after about 4 hours with the new adapter on AC power, it stopped recognizing the battery altogether and alerted me with a Critical Battery sign. Of course, a few minutes later, it went dead on me - the laptop switched off. It was as if I removed the AC adapter myself, only I hadn't. Now, I am trying to plug it in again (the new one), to see if it will be able to power up again and it just won't respond at all.
On the other hand, when I put the old AC adapter, the laptop switches on but doesn't charge. Again, it is extremely slow with the adapter on, and fast when I pull the wire out. Only for a minute or so until it dies on me again...
I have a Dell Vostro 1500, and I recently re-installed Windows Vista on it. I installed the drivers from the Dell CD that came with my laptop, along with the utilities.
But my wireless won't work, it says the driver isn't installed =[ But I installed all the drivers that CD told me to.
Sometimes when I boot up my Dell XPS 12 laptop the keyboard doesn't work correctly. Certain keys don't type letters, sorta like the CTRL key or Windows key is stuck down. I have tried a lot of different things (pressing various keys, checking system logs, check keyboard status, etc.) and the only thing that works is to reboot the laptop. Most of the time this fixes the problem, but it is annoying to have to reboot when this happens. I have upgraded the drivers to the latest versions available on the Dell website.
i cant Able to install wireless network adapter in my laptop..I downloaded all updated drivers from Acer website but still its missing and not able to connect WIFI.
I got my new Sony Vaio NW 275 with blu ray and the ati 4570. I formatted the HD and installed a new copy of Windows 7 64 bit. I also have Powerdvd and Arcsoft total media theater. When I launch one of these programs it will start fine. But when I click the play button to play either a DVD or Blu-Ray the apps both crash everytime. And they are all patched up to the latest version. Am I missing something here? Did I not install something after I formatted?
My laptop is Dell N5110 (Inspiron 15R), it suddenly shutdown when I try to type on the keyboard. Then I tried more and more to open it again, but it didn't work. After a while, I opened it, and when I tried to write something again, it suddenly shutdown, and so on.
I just update my aspire 4745 BIOS version from 1.04 to 1.23. After that it making a big problem. If i plug in AC adapter it geting shut down. But if i turn on it without AC supply, it works perfectly. But if i try to turn on laptop after plagged AC supply, it not respons anything,
I will be needing a new laptop and was thinking about the Z. I kept wondering if the screen is too small for doing some typing on MS office, and general work on the laptop
My laptop fell off a table whilst the disk tray was open and jammed the disk tray shut.
It didn't damage the laptop at all, just made a whirring noise every time I turned it on and off because there was a CD still in there (been like that for a few months). However, today the tray opened a little and so I pulled it right out. I know enough about computers to know that I haven't damaged anything else, just removed the tray.
Now my laptop won't turn on, and even the charging light doesn't come on. A piece of plastic ribbon/connector that was attached to the tray is loose - could it be that?
I have had the HP 620 laptop for about a year now , Recently upgraded it to windows 8 . So... as soon as i open my laptop , everything is fine and the wifi works and everything is basically normal , but when i use the laptop for like 10 min , the wifi randomly shuts off and tells me that i need to connect via an Ethernet cable, and when i do connect to ethernet cable it works . I am on windows 8.
I have a HP PAVILLION DM1 laptop and in not sure why is my battery wont work with my laptop. Everytie i put it back in the laptop shutsdown. im using the AC Adapter power plug always .... but i want to bring my laptop outdoor ..
I mentioned in the subject my laptop won't start. I checked forums here and tried the offered solutions but nothing. My AC works fine, green light turns on when I plug it, and stays the same when I plug it to laptop. Laptop doesn't make any sounds...my led for battery on laptop doesn't work when I plug it on AC.
I have upgraded my 5315 laptop to a T7300 cpu and iit s working fine. Is it possible to drop in a Q6600 quad cpu instead of the T7300 ? I have a extra cpu I would like to use.
If it will not work, is there a quad cpu that will work ? I am doing video editing and would like a powerhouse cpu.
I will have after Oct 22, two license copies of Windows 7. Will Windows 7 work better with the T7300 cpu ? Could my laptop be upgraded to 4 gbs if I run Windows 7 ?
I have been having problem with Atheros ar5009 on dv5 for the last two weeks. I did clean install and it didnt help. I tried almost everything on the web to solve the problem but no luck. I just called Hp tech support today but they want me to do the system recovery but I couldnt do it because I did the clean install.
I am thinking of replacing it with different wireless card. I don't know what is compatible with my system. I have amd turion x2 2.1 ghz. the wireless uses pci-e slot. can anyone recommend me a wireless card that will work with my laptop beside atheros?
