Sony :: New Vaio Ns Owner- Apps

I just got a vaio ns with a pentium dual core t3200 @ 2ghz. I just did a fresh install of windows 7 so theres no SONY apps in there. I'm having trouble with notebook hardware control. It doesn't detect the voltage, it's basically showing ... and so I can't undervolt it and I really want to. Also when I installed NHC, it seems to take over the original settings somehow and always dims the screen to 0% when I start up the PC.
I'd also like to know if vaio's have a way to enter the bios during boot?
What are some recommended apps/drivers for me to download for this laptop? It comes with a gma4500mhd. Do I have to download drivers or does it pretty much come or auto download with the windows 7 updates?

I just purchased a tt290yab with 1.4ghz blueray and all the trimmings. So I though I would post and introduce my self...
After owning a vaio P as my sole machine for a year this thing flys even with vista installed and untweaked.
I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice, things I could tweak... Best video playing software etc.. ?
Also my laptop came refurbished and has the noise cancelling capability but I don't have the headphones. Anyone know where I can get some? Or the part number for them so I could call sony? I tried the ones from my vaio P but they dont work.

I just received my new Vaio Z11 laptop a few days ago. I'm very satisfied with my purchase as it's my first ultra portable laptop. I have the i7-620M version with the 1920x1080 screen and 256GB SSD (4x64gb).
I have a few concerns though:
First, Is it safe that I make a clean install of W7? My Drive came with a single C Drive partition but I'd like to partition my drive into C and D drives. Are there specific tools to use for SSD's?
Second thing is regarding the Fingerprint Scan. I have been able to apply it on Windows Logon, and have also set it for Power On mode, but unfortunately when I turn on my laptop it doesn't ask me for the finger print it only does that at the Windows Logon screen. I have checked the bios and saw nothing that has Enable finger print or something of that sort, there was just a clear finger print option.

I have a question for the new Z owner with 128GB SSD.
I have been thinking about returning the unit in exchange for one with a larger SSD due to the drives lower capacity.
After reformatting and installing win7 Ultimate Office 2007, and some other things I deem as required Iam left with approximately 76 GB this includes BFBC2.
I have a few more games and some benchmark tools I like to install etc.
I would like to hear a few opinions on SD Capacity (SDHC) or Sony memory cards as an alternative for additional storage rather than returning it for the higher capacity SSD models and getting nailed with a 15% restock fees.
Do SD cards or the Sony mem Stocks have any short comings?

About 3 days ago my pages app disappeared from my iwork 08 folder. The next day my safari and msn messenger were gone then today my sons World of Warcraft is missing and a few documents have vanished also.

I inspired my girlfriend to buy an Apple Macbook Pro, but I have a few questions for you.
We are speaking about the new releases, which are now at the apple.com website.
I read a lot about Mac and Win support, ways and so on, but you are users, and maybe someone is tried a lot...so :
The important questions are:
Is there real Windows XP/Vista/7 support for the new Macs 13.3" or 15.4", for example: Is it possible to run Win 7 through BootCamp without problems, and is everything working good - Wifi, Lan, sound, touchpad, bluetooth, camera, etc.
Also what about the Applications: I'm interested in (windows versions) Photoshop, MS Office, MS Visual Studio(or some other packages for programming in C/C++ also on PHP and etc.)
What about playing movies in HiDef but in Windows, also Games?
Are there good video/audio drivers, codec packs, everything?
Explain as much as you can.
Also she's going to use OS X, but I'm not familiar with the programming software in OS X. She's going to do Web design, Photoshop editing, Video Editing, Programming, PHP, C++, other also.

I have the 15" Macbook Pro 2.66 with the 512mb graphics and I was wondering if there are programs out there that I can adjust the battery options more? All I can really do is go from Performance to Better Battery Life (I assume it disables the graphics?). also any must have apps would be great for my new macbook pro. (I have xupport already)

I currently run a very nice gaming laptop that does everything I want but I have one thing I don't think is possible to do. I don't think it is possible to write Ipod Touch apps with it. I'd like to get into this just to try it. I'd like to know if macbook or macbook pro would work for this or if I should be looking at a mac mini or imac for this kind of thing. If I am wrong about Mac necessity for this type of programming I'd like some advice on that too.

my Dad has this issue with his iTunes.
We just did a clean install of Leopard and authorized the computer and all that, you know sign in the account in iTunes and all...
Anyways, my Dad has this list of purchased apps in his "purchase history". However, when clicking "Check for available downloads" iTunes reports that all the apps have been downloaded.
And no, my dad doesn't have them on his iPhone anymore because it's a jailbroken one and I had to wipe out everything and make it new again.
How do I re-download all his apps (that he bought) from iTunes? and by the way, there's no "Applications" in his sidebar in iTunes, because he has none on his HDD.

When I click "download all free updates" it says that they cant not be purchased because i do not have write access to the iTunes media folder. I do because I checked out all the folders and they say read and write, plus I can add music to the library from other sources than iTunes store without a problem.

I own a Dell Inspiron 3521, and I'd been having an issue with apps not opening and closing when I do try. I went to fix this error. That's when I made a grave mistake. Somewhere along the line of me trying to fix it, I messed with something I shouldn't have and when I finished with my task, I was told to restart the computer to activate the settings. After I turned it back on it seemed normal up to the point after I saw the dell logo. It went black. At first I made the assumption that since I changed settings that it was still trying to configure them. But soon after, Â I saw my mouse and a little signal flash in the bottom left of my screen. So I checked around and found out that I needed to reinstall windows with disc or USB. But I don't have access to either of those.

I just got my Aspire V touch, so I don't understand why the Acer applications keep crashing when I try to open them. All of my other apps open fine without crashing. (Acer apps i.e.: Acer Recovery, Acer Quick Access, etc.) Why only Acer apps are crashing? I'm trying to make my recovery files.

Also, what is AOP Framework? It always crashes when my laptop is waken up from it's sleep. Can I uninstall it?

Is there some way around this? I ended one of the process one time, I VolCtrl.exe * 32, and it made the onscreen display go away, but then I could no longer adjust the brightness (probably because the onscreen display is identical for both except for a light icon insteam of a volume icon)
With that process not running volume control still worked fine, but screen brightness changing went away, a price I can't afford to pay for that.

I posted a few times in other threads and received a lot of good advice on which laptop to buy. This led me to the e6400 which I ordered from the outlet.
Received it over the weekend and got it up and running. Though not as stylishly groundbreaking as some, it has a nice sleek, cool look.
It is a business laptop afterall. I will agree with others on the speakers, pretty poor, even for a business laptop. But, other features are nice.... backlit keyboard, screen, keyboard layout/size

After researching a portable laptop with good battery life, and fast processer speed I choose the best buys blue label 3510nr laptop. The screen was gorgeous, and I bought it to get adapted to vista. One the volume of the speakers is clear for a laptop this size inside windows looking at videos or playing music baqck but strangely enough when viewing DVD movies the volume is very quiet. When the computer first started a DVD is went from 0 to ffering several numbers for US language and it plays in US mode but I wonder what this was. Also my movies downloaded from utube and various sources throughout the years ran fine on XP and xp PRO but 50% only will play in AVI not the movie in windows media player. Also I am perplexed at how strange the new Media player is compared with earleir versions that ran under XP. Waht can I do about seeing my movies, and possibly whats up with the sound as Ive checked all settings in control panel. Im scared to even call HP as their customer service horribible.

Seems there's some sort of odd issue with only some apps running under SL where they don't retain any sort of settings as far as where the window was.
Preview, for example, always opens in the same not-actually-"maximized" position no matter what I do to it. I open a lot of PDF files, so I'd like to be able to specify how they open. (A plus would also be to auto-select the annotate -> comment function).

I upgraded to WIndows 8.1 a few hours ago (available in Store). However, ever since the upgrade I can no longer watch videos or hear sound in all Apps.

Netflix gives me a message that there is a problem with this system's configuration that prevents Windows from playing protected video and error code W8156-8007007E.

Xbox Music player gives me "Can't play. Make sure your computer's sound and video cards are working and have the latest drivers" error code 0x00d11d1 (0x8007007e).

All the other Apps that have video, and or audio, give various errors messages (e.g., "The video failed to play".

Now I can watch imbedded You Tube videos in Internet Exployer.

I did find KB2756872 that seems to address the problem with protected videos not playing. However, it doesn't mention if it is compatible with Windows 8.1 and when I follow the manual update method where you make changes in Regedit. I did not see the key that needs to be deleted.

Having done a lot of monitoring of my Latitude E5440 because of fan issues I spotted large CPU spikes every 9 seconds (no apps open or network traffic):
I can see it's caused by a group of "DcomLaunch" services. My old laptop with same OS, software, Anti-Virus (Avast) does not show these spikes.
Looking at similar problems reported on the net it was down to a third-party service/driver or malware but I have done a full scan and it still occurs in Safe Mode:
I have also gone through disabling as many services and drivers as possible but no luck. Seems like it must be something to do with power management?
I'm not a gamer as a 25% CPU spike every 9 seconds would be totally unacceptable.

Got a new E5-571P-55TL yesterday and going through the setup process I got all the way to where it says downloading apps. It displayed a message that it was processing or I forget what it said exactly. Then the words went away after about an hour. I remember reading that it said it may do this, may have a blank screen and not to turn it off. I left it on all night and still have just a green screen this morning. I know my wifi is not the fastest and figured that's what it was. Came to work today and left it sitting on the counter, still on.

I am from Belgium and since yesterday a proud owner of a m1730
After weeks of surfing the net to get the best bang for buck I got myself a brand new m1730 with sli 9800m gt, 6gb ram, a 2,5Ghz duo, blu ray, etc... for just 1839€. Believe me this is very cheap for this laptop in Belgium.
I also game on my Imac (which I bought to do mostly Lightwave and 3d coat) from 2008 with a 8800gs (in reality a 8800m gt) and 3,06 ghz core2duo .....
