I can't seem to get rid of the "switch between aps" popup on theLH side of desktop. It just seems to be stuck there, ovbscuring anything underneath it. How do I disable this very unuseful app?

I have a Pavilion G6 - 1261sa running on windows 7, 64-bit. I cannot switch on my wifi and change the orange light. ive searched solutions for this, and most seem to be solved by installing drivers for the wifi card. and most seem to be solved by going into Device Manager / network adapters... and so on. But as I get to this stage my laptops device manager does not recognise a wifi card as being there!? I can only connect using ethernet....

My laptop is new today, my WiFi network is open however I can not access the internet. My Proxy server automatically switches on, I turn it off and I get back on the internet, when I surf my next page the proxy server is back on. My software installs todate have been, Office 2013 (online install), Cavs Karaoke Player (online install), VLC media player (online install) and You Tube Downloader (online install). All programs were on my previous Win 7 laptop without any dramas.
How to turn this proxy server off, HP phone support will be my next call.
I own this laptop for 2 years and still never had my dedicated videocard working. It didn't even work when I bought it off the store o.O so basically i got quite sick of it and tried to get it all fixed up, so I went through everything I could think of, just everything that "Might" fix the problem.
I tried all of this in Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. I've set the videocard options in the bios to both fixed and dynamic. Neither works. All of the drivers have been installed, including the latest AMD Apu driver. (I tried the official one from amd.com and the one from the HP support centre) The graphics settings for both my Intel HD Graphics and my AMD Radeon HD gpu are set to maximum performance. Disabling the HD Graphics 3000 driver so it could only run on the AMD gpu didn't work either. (Actually, everything stopped working in an instance;p) Installing an older driver didn't work either. AC/DC has been plugged in the whole time (This should have effect when settings in bios are set on "Fixed". This was not the case)
I've tried a few more things but it's getting a little bit too long to read;p
i'm typing from my friends mac, I'm installing some useful temp apps and such.. are there any specific programs or add ons that are must haves...

I read a lot about Mac and Win support, ways and so on, but you are users, and maybe someone is tried a lot...so :
The important questions are:
Is there real Windows XP/Vista/7 support for the new Macs 13.3" or 15.4", for example: Is it possible to run Win 7 through BootCamp without problems, and is everything working good - Wifi, Lan, sound, touchpad, bluetooth, camera, etc.
Also what about the Applications: I'm interested in (windows versions) Photoshop, MS Office, MS Visual Studio(or some other packages for programming in C/C++ also on PHP and etc.)
What about playing movies in HiDef but in Windows, also Games?
Are there good video/audio drivers, codec packs, everything?

I just got a vaio ns with a pentium dual core t3200 @ 2ghz. I just did a fresh install of windows 7 so theres no SONY apps in there. I'm having trouble with notebook hardware control. It doesn't detect the voltage, it's basically showing ... and so I can't undervolt it and I really want to. Also when I installed NHC, it seems to take over the original settings somehow and always dims the screen to 0% when I start up the PC.
I'd also like to know if vaio's have a way to enter the bios during boot?
What are some recommended apps/drivers for me to download for this laptop? It comes with a gma4500mhd. Do I have to download drivers or does it pretty much come or auto download with the windows 7 updates?

I don't think it is possible to write Ipod Touch apps with it. I'd like to get into this just to try it. I'd like to know if macbook or macbook pro would work for this or if I should be looking at a mac mini or imac for this kind of thing. If I am wrong about Mac necessity for this type of programming I'd like some advice on that too.

Anyways, my Dad has this list of purchased apps in his "purchase history". However, when clicking "Check for available downloads" iTunes reports that all the apps have been downloaded.
And no, my dad doesn't have them on his iPhone anymore because it's a jailbroken one and I had to wipe out everything and make it new again.
How do I re-download all his apps (that he bought) from iTunes? and by the way, there's no "Applications" in his sidebar in iTunes, because he has none on his HDD.
When I click "download all free updates" it says that they cant not be purchased because i do not have write access to the iTunes media folder. I do because I checked out all the folders and they say read and write, plus I can add music to the library from other sources than iTunes store without a problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI own a Dell Inspiron 3521, and I'd been having an issue with apps not opening and closing when I do try. I went to fix this error. That's when I made a grave mistake. Somewhere along the line of me trying to fix it, I messed with something I shouldn't have and when I finished with my task, I was told to restart the computer to activate the settings. After I turned it back on it seemed normal up to the point after I saw the dell logo. It went black. At first I made the assumption that since I changed settings that it was still trying to configure them. But soon after, I saw my mouse and a little signal flash in the bottom left of my screen. So I checked around and found out that I needed to reinstall windows with disc or USB. But I don't have access to either of those.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my Aspire V touch, so I don't understand why the Acer applications keep crashing when I try to open them. All of my other apps open fine without crashing. (Acer apps i.e.: Acer Recovery, Acer Quick Access, etc.) Why only Acer apps are crashing? I'm trying to make my recovery files.
Also, what is AOP Framework? It always crashes when my laptop is waken up from it's sleep. Can I uninstall it?
Is there some way around this? I ended one of the process one time, I VolCtrl.exe * 32, and it made the onscreen display go away, but then I could no longer adjust the brightness (probably because the onscreen display is identical for both except for a light icon insteam of a volume icon)
With that process not running volume control still worked fine, but screen brightness changing went away, a price I can't afford to pay for that.

Preview, for example, always opens in the same not-actually-"maximized" position no matter what I do to it. I open a lot of PDF files, so I'd like to be able to specify how they open. (A plus would also be to auto-select the annotate -> comment function).
I upgraded to WIndows 8.1 a few hours ago (available in Store). However, ever since the upgrade I can no longer watch videos or hear sound in all Apps.
Netflix gives me a message that there is a problem with this system's configuration that prevents Windows from playing protected video and error code W8156-8007007E.
Xbox Music player gives me "Can't play. Make sure your computer's sound and video cards are working and have the latest drivers" error code 0x00d11d1 (0x8007007e).
All the other Apps that have video, and or audio, give various errors messages (e.g., "The video failed to play".
Now I can watch imbedded You Tube videos in Internet Exployer.
I did find KB2756872 that seems to address the problem with protected videos not playing. However, it doesn't mention if it is compatible with Windows 8.1 and when I follow the manual update method where you make changes in Regedit. I did not see the key that needs to be deleted.
Having done a lot of monitoring of my Latitude E5440 because of fan issues I spotted large CPU spikes every 9 seconds (no apps open or network traffic):
I can see it's caused by a group of "DcomLaunch" services. My old laptop with same OS, software, Anti-Virus (Avast) does not show these spikes.
Looking at similar problems reported on the net it was down to a third-party service/driver or malware but I have done a full scan and it still occurs in Safe Mode:
I have also gone through disabling as many services and drivers as possible but no luck. Seems like it must be something to do with power management?
I'm not a gamer as a 25% CPU spike every 9 seconds would be totally unacceptable.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Dell XPS 15 L502 machine bought 10 months back. I am facing a frustrating issue with touchpad.
Touchpad works ok but suddenly it freezes and stops working event the right - left click buttons. or sometimes a gentle finger on touchpad will randomly open and close the applications. The only solution to this is i restart my machine. This occurs frequently causing me to restart my machine atleast 20 times a day.
I have the issue of backlight not turning on on my NC6400. My guess is that the lid switch is faulty. But I can't figure out where the switch is located.
When I boot up, the screen flashes on for a second before the backlight turns off. With a bright light, I can still see the HP logo during boot up and the computer continue to boot into windows just fine. If I set the lid to the angle in which the computer lid is closed/open (the hdd indicator light changes color), sometimes I could get an instant of backlight.
I think the lid switch is stuck or broken, but I can't find it on the outside. Anyone know where the switch is? I'd also be happy with just letting the screen be on all the time if it comes to that.
