Sony :: Sz680 Screen Flickers After Wake Up From Sleep
Dec 2, 2009
This problem has bothered me since I have installed the windows7 rtm.
i am using integrated graphi card, everytime when the machine wakes up from sleep, and if the external power is unpluged, the screen starts to flicker, and windows 7 reports "displayer driver stopped working and have been recovered", looks like a driver problem, but i have downloaded from the driver from sony website and intel website, none of them solves this problem.

when I turn on my Z, the screen glitches two or three times upon hitting the login screen. Does this happen for anyone else?
Sometimes, (it's happened once or twice) my graphics card even failed upon logging in and had to be reloaded, and even, on one occassion, completely shut down my computer (Straight to black, green light turned red) in the middle of casual browsing.
Are these causes for concern? Should I return my laptop?

I have a Dell XPS 17 l702x 3D model. I hve been having issue on sleep mode for the past few weeks. Whenever I put it in sleep its fine, however when I press power button to wake up from sleep I get blank screen. The power button lits, the hard drive spin for a sec then stop and screen stays blank. Only way to get out of that is to force shutdown and restarting. Its same when hibernating, fails to wake up.
On a side note BIOS is upto date and my laptop is still under warranty.

My new laptop will not wake when it has gone to sleep.
Neither the keyboard, touchpad, screen or the power button will pull it from its slumber.
The fan starts, the light on the keyboard comes on, but it will never resume.
I have to turn ut off by holding "down" the power button for 10 secs, wait a bit, and then turn it on again.
I found a hint somewhere else that the bug could be related to Intel smart start. I disabled it in the bios, and now the computer resumes like expected.
However after boot up I get an error saying that "it seems smart start has been disabled" or something like that.

Lately my Acer will not wake up from sleep, has been shutting down on its own losing all my saved open windows sometimes not even leaving a history I can recover. Now it is disabling the wireless adapter so I am not able to be online until it reboots. I don't have an ethernet port so I have no other option. A Google searched revealed to update the Power Management Software but I am not able to locate how to do this.

A common issue, but here is what I know:
My 1420 with a Geforce 8400GS will not wake up from sleep. I know that it is the graphics cards fault, because everything else seems to be fine when I poen the lid.
I am using laptop2go 185.20 drivers.
Does anyone know how I can try to fix this, or what geforce 18x.xx drivers still wake up properly with an 8400 gs?
I am committed to the non-dell drivers, because Dell is horribly out of date, and the performance boost I get from the newer drivers is very worthwhile.

Suddenly, would not resume from sleep when the lid was opened - whether or not the power was plugged in. Long pressing the power button restarted windows but as expected an error message was in the event log "System did not shut down properly..." Re-installed Windows 8.1 64Bit Pro from scratch - totally clean re-install. Now - goes to sleep without any problem.
However, on opening the lid only wakes up if the power plug is not plugged in.If the power plug is plugged in the laptop does not wake up.It is extremely disappointing to have paid big bucks for an excellent laptop to be let down by this problem within a month. I suspect a hardware issue. I am seriously considering returning this to Dell and looking elsewhere. I would think that customer support for products under warranty would be available over the weekend..but that doesn't seem to be the case. I have to wait till Monday! All drivers are up to date and the latest BIOS updated (A07) is installed.

I've got a brand new HP ZBook 14 with preinstalled Windows7. The problem is that when the NB goes in sleep then can’t wakeup:
Goes to sleep successful and when wakeup it the screen in black then HDD led is blinking for 2-3 seconds and then the NB is rebooted.
I installed new clean Windows 8 64 using original HP media come with NB and then updated to Windows 8.1 64
All drivers and firmware are updated. Windows is updated too.
I supposed that the problem is in the ATI video card but I’ve tried with different drivers without result.

I've just purshased a new Acer Aspire E5-771 (IGP, not Nvidia).
When I get into deep sleep, it can wake-up normally. I mean that after pressing power button and booting Windows, it comes back to my opened session.
But wen I get in simple sleep (close the lid or press Alt+F4), it cannot wake up. Let me be precise. Wen it is in simple sleep, the orange LED is blinking. If I open the lid, nothing happens. If I press a keystroke, the LED becomes quickly blue and then switches off (1/10 second). No noise, no image. Nothing else happen. I have to press power button to switch on the computer, but I lose my session and have to boot all of Windows.
It does this from the beginning, even with my updated drivers and with the last 1.15 BIOS.

When I put my laptop to sleep or it sits idle for a period of time and goes to sleep on it's own it stops recognizing the laptop monitor. It will still display on other monitors connected through the docking station, but not the laptop. It doesn't matter if I put it to sleep while on the dock or off the dock, it never recognizes the monitor.
I have an Intel HD Grpahics 4600, and an NVIDIA Quadro K1100M video cards. I've checked drivers for both and they both say they are up to date (9/29/14 for Intel, and 09/12/2014 for NVIDIA). I have also updated every possible thing in the Lenovo System Update.
This problem occured after switching from windows 7 to windows 8.1.I have also lost the ability to control the brightness of my laptop monitor through my computer at any point in time. The function keys don't work, and the setting is not shown on my power manager.

I'm having a wake up from sleep mode problem with my DELL VOSTRO 2521 since some months. My pc has two graphic cards: Intel 4000 and ATI AMD Radeon.I've tried many solutions but I do have this problem even today. When I shut the computer down with the sleep option or when I close the lid, sometimes the pc even refuses to sleep, when it sleeps it won't wake up unless I hard turn off it using the on/off button.
I tried the solutions proposed in the following link and many other ones:
1. Power management tab solutions: Allow this device to wake the computer...
2. Selective startup and services desabling
3. Use Powercfg command to check the issue
4. Control panel>Power options>change when computer sleeps>change advanced power settings> Sleep> ... > Multimedia
I see some people talk about the BIOS, to check its settings for sleep, to disable the BIOS setting "USB wake up" . I didn't try it cause i'm not sure about the result.
Also in Device Manager, to go to Keyboards, right click on the Keyboard device, click on properties, Click on the Power Management tab, and click the check box: "allow this device to wake the computer." Uncheck the box that say's "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
And to do the same as above for the "Mice and other pointing devices." But I can't do with my Keyboard, cause there is no Power Management tab on mine.

I got a new T440s about 2 weeks ago and sometimes it doesn't wake up after it goes into sleep mode. It gets stuck on a black screen and the mouse cursor is visible, but moving the mouse or pressing keys on the keyboard fails to wake it up. When this happens, I have to restart the computer by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and hybrid sleep is off. I'm just really confused because sometimes it wakes up perfectly and sometimes it doesn't.

I am not able to wake up my new laptop from sleep via USB mouse or keyboard. I would like to be able to do that because I usually keep my laptop lid closed, so the power button is not immediately accessible. I've searched the forums here and found similar issues with other models, and at least with the Inspiron 17R the problem was recently resolved with a BIOS update. I had no issues when using the same USB mouse and keyboard on an old XPS 8000.
Now for the details:
Model: Inspiron 15 (3521)
BIOS: A06
USB Wake Support: Enabled
Operating System: Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit
Keyboard: Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000
Software: Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center
Mouse: Logitech Performance Mouse MX
Software: Logitech SetPoint
If I go into Device Manager, and look at various devices, I see the following:
Human Interface Devices
HID-compliant consumer control device - no Power Management tab
HID-compliant device - no Power Management tab
Logitech HID-compliant Unifying device - no Power Management tab
Logitech Unifying USB receiver - no Power Management tab
Microsoft Hardware USB Keyboard - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out
USB Input device - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out
Keyboards:
HID Keyboard Device - no Power Management tab
Microsoft USB Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 - no Power Management tab
Mice and other pointing devices:
HID-compliant device - no Power Management tab
Logitech HID-compliant Unifying Mouse - no Power Management tab
Universal Serial Bus controllers:
Generic USB Hub - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out
USB Composite Device - no Power Management tab
USB Root Hub - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out
USB Root Hub (xHCI) - "Allow this device to wake the computer" grayed out
If I go into an Administrator command prompt, I get the following:
powercfg /deviceenablewake "Logitech HID-compliant Unifying device": You do not have permission to enable or disable device wake.
powercfg /deviceenablewake "USB Root Hub": You do not have permission to enable or disable device wake.
From what I've been able to find online, I should be able to enable "Allow this device to wake the computer" in the Power Management tab of various devices in Device Manager, especially the USB Root Hub devices, and possibly the Logitech USB and Microsoft keyboard devices. I assume if I can get that enabled, things might work as expected.

I've removed the battery, the cmos battery, the hard drive, and the cd-rom drive. Nothing will wake this thing!
The wifi light is orange, the caps lock is flashing. The mute button is not lit. NUM lock doesn't have a light.
Nothing, not even a mouse, is plugged into the laptop.

Can my cursed vaio (sz680) run vista or 7 under 64bit?? YES it can
Did sony provide us any 64bit drivers? NO it didnt
So is there any way that somebody has a sz680 which works 64bit and EVERYTHING is working...?
Everything is: 1-Recognition of the model sz680 to the OS
2- FN keys
3- S1,S2
4- Smart network thinge
5- HDD protection, webcam and fingerprint
The rest of the drivers are easy to find...(8400m gs for example at laptopvideo2go)
I say we try to SOLVE this issue once and for all and make it in the sticky topic....

So I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 that has all the latest drivers with BIOS A11 (Win 7 Ultimate x64)... I have all the power settings configured for correctly for sleep (no hybernate), however no matter what I try, I can't get the laptop to wake when the lid is closed via USB keyboard.
I'm using Logitech's Wave MK560 combo (unifying receiver) - both the keyboard/mouse have the wake option enabled in their hardware settings. I also have wake from USB enabled in the BIOS.
The interesting thing is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can make it sleep/wake it from the Logitech devices. With the lid closed, I can only make it sleep - the only way to wake it up is to open the lid and press the power button.
Cliffs Notes:
Lid Open : CAN sleep/wake from USB Keyboard/Mouse
Lid Closed : Can ONLY sleep - won't wake unless I open Lid&press power button

I have a Precision m6700 that I'm trying to install OS X Mountain Lion on. The biggest problem I have at the moment is that the laptop won't wake from sleep.
It goes to sleep okay. With the slowly pulsating light on the power button, but when I try and wake it up the machine goes into a loop of trying to start and then turning itself off after a few seconds. I suspect it's something to do with ASF and Intel Management Engine getting confused by OSX. Or OSX not doing something it needs to before the machine enters sleep. In the bios log I see 'ASF2 force off' events that match the time and frequency of the wake attempts. How do I find out what is generating these alerts?
Alternatively, is there any way to turn ASF or Intel Management Engine off? There is a yellow sticker in the battery bay that says 3 ME DISABLED. From what I've read elsewhere this indicates that the Intel Management Engine is permanently turned off on this laptop. Why it's generating ASF alerts at all!?
I've also trying the CCTK tool with --asfmode=off. This reports that asfmode isn't available on this laptop.

Brand new X230 here, with the Lenovo wifi. It seems like when I first got it that it would reconnect to wifi after waking, but now, after having done all my software installation, system updates, bios update, etc. - at some point it stopped doing this. After waking I've tried turning wifi on and off, disabling and re-enabling the adapter, releasing and renewing the ip (it won't renew). Basically, after coming out of sleep it seems like the adapter just won't "wake up" fully and get a new ip address. All Windows and systems updates have been performed.

It is a XPS 15 9530 and when set to sleep when the lid is closed the unit will not wake when the lid is opened. If I then press the power button it lights up and I hear a faint sound for about 20 sec (fan, disk, nothing weird) and then the sound stops. I never see anything on the screen. If I press the power button, again, then it says the PC wasn't shutdown correctly. Next, it runs some diagnostics for about 10 seconds and then it starts normally.
