Mar 14, 2009Is there any way I could get a replacement screen with a better contrast ratio?

View 4 RepliesI just reinstalled the ati driver and now the screen has low contrast
View 3 Replies View Relatedthe contrast on my screen somehow got messed up and I can't find out how to adjust it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI don't know what happened but now when I tilt my display past a certain point, the screen display gets garbled. It does look like one of the joins at the back has come undone too, probably related. Must be a loose connection.
Best to send it back to Acer? It shipped with a faulty mic connection too to be honest.
What would be the best way of getting it back to Acer? I'm in Ireland I ordered it off laptopsdirect.ie. It's still a few months within warranty as far as I'm aware. I don't want to strain my neck too much so I will need to get it fixed soon enough.
I have the same problem as the user in another thread Acer Aspire 6930 screen replacement
but since the layout of 6920 and 6930 are different, I stuck at the part when I have to pull out two video cables beneath speaker cover, cause there is only one cable (that I am aware of) in 6920. So I hope someone could explain to me what to do next after removing speaker cover, cause I don't want to brick my laptop
I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks 720p just isn't enough.. I've been shopping for a new LCD panel for my 6920G, but was wondering a few things:
Brief background on my box:
T5750, 4GB, BD (Optiarc), PM965, 9500M GS, 1366x768.
Ideal:
T9300, 4GB, BD (Optiarc), PM965, 9600M GT, 1920x1080.
I'm going to start with the LCD panel first. The benefit from CPU upgrades seems nominal, and GPU upgrades seem expensive and a PITA.
a) Is there a guide/howto regarding how to change panels yet?
b) Is there any issues going from 1366x768 -> 1920x1080? Is it even possible?
c) I can't seem to find reliable places that sell the SAMSUNG, is a place like this reputable: [url]
I have a 6920G which somehow got a hair behind the screen some time ago.
My warrant ended some time ago so I guess I need to remove it myself, if I want it removed (and I do).
The hair is in the middle, not too far from the bottom so it sure is annoying. It looks like a very, very thin strain of hair, most likely from one of our cats.
I have googled for many hours for ways to disassemble my laptop and even tried it myself without a guide and I came pretty far until I gave up in fear of breaking the screen.
Do anyone have a guide or something on how I can remove the LCD to clean it off? Far as I understand service manuals are not to be asked for (for legal reasons?) so a guide or detailed instructions is what I desperately need.
Been trolling around here for a while for great advice for my laptop but it seems that I've got a problem now.
While just doing everyday work my screen started showing a grainy/ red tint all over with slight adjustments of the screen angle, it's progressively gotten worse as now no angle at all will give the clear normal picture.
The machine itself is working fine and when I plug it into an external monitor the picture is perfect, it just seems to be occuring on the screen.
I was wondering if there was anything I could personally do to fix the problem as I don't really want to be shipping it to Acer at the moment as I'm out of the country for a while.
My acer 6920g restarts itself frequently after showing blue screen. The error in the blue screen is "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" each time. I tried updating my driver to the new one but still the same problem.

Laptop:Acer 6920g, Nvidia 9500M GS, Vista 32-bit
Problem:
Whenever I upgrade to the latest NVIDIA version drivers on laptopvideo2go, I have a problem with my screen brightness and vista power plan.
Currently I have the nvidia driver 8.17.11.9581 installed (195.81).
If I unistall any other higher version driver from acer's default driver than the power plan and screen brightness work, however if I use the latest driver then the problem happens.
I have tried to install XP Home on my Acer 6920g but with no success.
I made an XP disk with the sata drivers via Nlite which was recognised, installed the OS but on first boot the laptop gives me the BSOD but as it is so quick I am unable to get any error code. The laptop will not boot on safe mode either which makes me think there is a physical (hardware) issue that doesn't like XP.
I have an Aspire 6930 and would like to modify the screen contrast and brightness for watching a Netflix movie on-line.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an Acer Switch 11. Â I noticed that I wasn't able to adjust the display contrast, using the left/right arrows and "FN" key. Â Through a chat session, an Acer technician recommended that I reinstall the Intel VGA Driver through Acer Recovery Management. Â I followed his instruction, and it worked. Â However, later I noticed that I could not longer adjust the contrast. Â I could see the indicator move up and down in the upper left-hand corner of the screen, but the contrast wouldn't changed. Â I once again reinstalled the Intel VGA Driver, and it corrected the problem.
Â
After re-installing the driver a second time, I decided I would leave the tablet plugged into the keyboard. Â Every fifteen minutes or so, I would unplug the display to see if the contrast changed. Â Based on my settings, it did change as desired. Â I did this for several hours. Â Later, I decided to remove the display from the keyboard. Â Initially, I was still able to adjust the contrast. Â However, after 10 minutes or so, I no longer could make adjustments. Â At that point, I placed the display back into the keyboard dock. Â I tried to see if it being locked into the keyboard was required in order to make contrast changes. Â It still didn't work. Â I then reinstalled the Intel VGA Driver and corrected the problem. Â I have kept it plugged into the keyboard, and I can still make adjustments.
I got my Dell Studio 15 today. Everything seems fine except for the fact that the screen hurts my eyes ....
I tried lowering the brightness levels but it really is the contrast. My older laptop (inspiron) was fine. What can I do?
Anyone know the contrast ratio(and other specs) for the LED screen of the XPS M1330?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new Dell Inspiron 1525 1.86 ghz laptop 3 days ago. I noticed that around bright lights in my room, its monitor is not displaying crisp and clear pictures. How can I adjust the monitor's picture and contrast? Many thanks.

Nvidia control panel is missing. Is there way to properly install Nvidia drivers and have Nvidia control panel
I can't seem to find any installed utility where I can set the webcam brightness and contrast for the built in webcam. The default setting are much too bright.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new HP Pavilion G4-1310au. My problem is that it did not have any OS installed and so no system drivers were installed either.  In the box I only got a CD that has HP manual in it and nothing else and the notebook of course, the power cord, bag, and some printed manual. I was expecting to see a System Disk CD so I could install the system drivers, but I didn't find one.
Â
So I installed the OS and then installed the network driver which I downloaded from another computer and also the audio. My problem is that I cannot find a launcher that would control the brightness and contrast of the screen. I tried FN key plus F3 or F2 keys but it didn't work.
Â
How I can control the brightness and contrast or better yet if there is a Launcher software where I can control all the features of this notebook? By the way, I don't know how to enable the bluetooth either.
There are function keys on my 2000-20a20NR notebook PC for brightness, but no buttons for contrast. How do I adjust the contrast? (Running Windows 7.)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have bought a 500gb SATA HDD to replace the stock 250gb one.
I would install the drivers from the website but for some reason they don't seem to detect the webcam etc. I also can not find the link for the bluray player.
Is there a version of the original restore image on the interwebs anywhere
I have noticed my 6920g's fan to go annoying loud when playing Warcraft, which indeed is a pretty graphic instensive game depending where you are in WoW.
My question is to anyone else who owns a 6920g and plays WoW, do you have the same fan problems as me? Sure I understand it isnt going to be silent but recently it has seemed to get worse and it's really doing my nut in.
Comments and thoughts, obviously welcome.
I tried doing a search for similar problems but I kept getting a black screen for some reason.
I've just bought the wife a new laptop and it's a 6920g (same as mine lol) with exactly the same spec as mine! but what im wondering is, would it be posible to somehow make a mirror image of my hd and transfer it to her new one? im thinking of using e recovery manager and send her com my user created back up image and then restore it on her side, but im not sure if this would work.

I have a 6920G with 4Gb of RAM, a C2D T9300 and the Geforce 9500GS running Vista 64-bit.
For some reason I'm only getting 3DMark03 scores around 5200-5300 but I've seen benchmarks of identical systems much much higher.
dfegtersgft
Why is this?
My brother-in-law has a 6920 with a gig less RAM, a lesser C2D T5700 but a Radeon HD3650 and his 3DMark03 score is 10500.
Should my 9500GS really suck so much ?
Any 6920G owner have their hard drive access light stuck on "on" for about 30 seconds or so and have their laptops freeze for this duration? Freeze as in as soon as I click any window, it turns white. This happens every now and then, doesn't matter what I'm doing.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy 6920G shut it'sself off, and now it won't turn on. When I press the power button, it flashes on then off. It does this repeatedly if I hold it down.
What's wrong? is there a lock on it or something?
I've found most of the drivers for xp64bit but i read that tuba speaker doesn't work well (even if you install the corrent drivers from acer) and that's very dissapointing...
View 10 Replies View RelatedSome of us know that the 6929g sometimes mostly during gaming downclocks....
But can anybody explain to me, why i can get the following temps (tested separately)
cpu, max before downclocking:
realtemp: 91°
hw monitor: 76°
gpu, stock powermizer on
gpu-z 73° (stopped myself still no downclocking)
But then when i start playing cod5 my cpu starts downclocking @ 58° (hw monitor), while GPU @ 63°....
Why does this only happen while gaming when it seems that both cpu and gpu can handle much higher temps?
Combined it should reach even higher temps but it doesn't because it downclocks?
Is there something else that can force the cpu to downclock?
