HP Pavilion G4-1310au :: Control Of Brightness And Contrast
Oct 15, 2014
I just got a new HP Pavilion G4-1310au. My problem is that it did not have any OS installed and so no system drivers were installed either. In the box I only got a CD that has HP manual in it and nothing else and the notebook of course, the power cord, bag, and some printed manual. I was expecting to see a System Disk CD so I could install the system drivers, but I didn't find one.
So I installed the OS and then installed the network driver which I downloaded from another computer and also the audio. My problem is that I cannot find a launcher that would control the brightness and contrast of the screen. I tried FN key plus F3 or F2 keys but it didn't work.
How I can control the brightness and contrast or better yet if there is a Launcher software where I can control all the features of this notebook? By the way, I don't know how to enable the bluetooth either.
I can't change my laptop brightness neither with F2 and F3 keys nor in the settings. I have already updated all my drivers but still have no response when adjusting brightness. I have an hp pavilion sleekbook 15-b102sp
I have a Pavilion dv6-6173cl laptop. It's been working fine until recently, when I left it on overnight to finish downloading a huge file. When I tried to adjust the brightness the next morning, I couldn't (though it was still at full brightness like I always keep it). So I thought, "why not reboot it?" I rebooted and now the display is the dimmest it can get with no way of adjusting the brightness using the brightness keys, control panel, or otherwise.
This has happened before. When it did, I did a factory reset on it and it fixed the problem. However, although there is no absolutely critical data on there and I can always make a backup, I prefer to not have to go through all that if it's avoidable. I have an external display that HP asked me to connect it to to see if it was a hardware or software issue. The external display was at full brightness, so when they asked me to ship it in I did a factory reset and that solved the problem. And now it's back.
I can't seem to find any installed utility where I can set the webcam brightness and contrast for the built in webcam. The default setting are much too bright.
I am using a webcam software which doesn't offer any option for the webcam (bright , contrast , pixel ...etc) so i want to set the webcam default settings
My laptop : Dell inspiron 5520 win7 64bit
I tried dell webcam central , but i set its setting only but not a global default setting....
Was this ever resolved? I am having the same issue on the same computer that I cannot manually adjust the screen brightness using the function + F2 or function + F3 screen brightness keys.
I cannot adjust the brightness of my display using the Fn keys or the Control Panel... I have already had to replace my battery once... I need to be able to adjust the brightness in order save my battery life!
I don't know what has happened or if someone changed something but every single time I change the brightness control to 100% 2 seconds later it goes back to 0%. This is even when it is plugged in or has a full batter.
Even when i switch to that has brightness set to like 80% nothing happens. I went to maxium preformace profile and for some reason it is set to 0% when I change it to 100% and hit apply 2 seconds later it changes back to 0%.
Out side of windows(ie the login screen) I can change my brightness to 100% and it will stay there it's when I login it reverts to 0%.
I have the acer aspire 5100 laptop. Is there anyway someone could have changed something that makes this happen?

I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my Sony VPCF115FM laptop, and I was wondering what I need to install to get the brightness control to work. I already tried the video drivers, shared library, and notebook utilities from this site:

But nothing seems to affect the brightness, even though I do see the brightness bar now when I press the appropriate keys.

i just downgraded my sz680 to xp using the driver on sony website, i got everything to work except the brightness control, i can't use the FN key to save battery, it's always at max brightness, only 2.5 hours, i need at least 4 hours like i used to have using vista to survive on campus during the day,
I have had this tablet for less than one week. Under settings in windows 8.1 modern interface is a control slider for the screen brightness. it does not appear to do anything. I would like to be able to change screen brightness suit my needs, but I cannot make this work. What settings I need to change or maybe software I need to update? There is one Acer driver update which does not load properly and always says fail. I believe it has to do with screen settings. Could that be the problem?
I bought a new HP 15-r007tx notebook ,installed windows 7 62-bit. But the brightness control functions aren't working neither through display settings nor through keyboard button.
After installing new Windows7 ultimate OS.Brightness control keys are not working of my laptop. My laptop model is HP 14-D010tuI search for drivers but not find suitable and working driver for my laptop.I have hotkey driver software but this soft not installing ...
I can't adjust screen brightness using either function key or in control panel. Using the function key the little panel of brightness volume shows up on the screen but does nothing. And in control panel, through either the bottom brightness scroll or the power option won't change anything. Only time when the brightness will change is I unplug the power, but in the power settings it won't let me change/adjust the brightness.
And what is the battery function key for? I press it and it does nothing. XPS L521x
One of the most troublesome consequences of downgrading your VAIO to Windows XP is not being able to adjust the screen brightness using the F5/F6 keys.
This tutorial aims to (i) resolve that issue, and (ii) retain the ability to adjust brightness when you update to the latest LaptopVideo2Go drivers. The below methods have been tested on VAIO FZ, FW, and NS laptops with NVIDIA GeForce 8X00M cards, and they are working flawlessly with the LV2G 190.15 driver.
Part 1: Enabling Fn Brightness Control
Skip this step if your brightness control is already working
In order to be able to use the brightness control on a XP-Downgraded machine, you need:
1. VAIO Event Service Hotfix (Which updates the VESConfig.ini file for the VAIO Event Service) -> You can get this at[url]. -> If you have an FZ, you can use the VESConfig.ini I have attached
2. NVIDIA Driver with Customised nv4_disp.inf (Refer to Part 2)............
I fresh installed Windows 7 and installed all the drivers from Lenovo's website. Still I cannot adjust the brightness. It stays on MAX and drains the battery in 1h30min. All other F hotkeys work but not F7 & F8 for brightness control. Is this a BIOS/Drivers issue?

New just turned on a few hours ago. Brightness control was working before fresh install. Did fresh install to get rid of bloatware.
I've got little issues with screen brightness on my T510.
Sometimes after returning from hybernate/sleep I cannot control screen brightness at all (chaning it by Fn+Home/End or from PowerManager just dont work).

Since receiving this laptop, OSD birightness control has always failed to work, i.e. does not appear on the screen when using the Fn+F5/F6 key combination nor does it control actual screen brightness AFTER FIRST resuming from sleep mode.
Sequence of steps that demonstrates the above symptom: 1. OSD brightness works fine after reboot 2. Putting the machine to sleep (I do not use hibernate) for a duration longer than a few minutes 3. Open lid the first time, hit Fn to resume machine 4. Pressing Fn+F5/F6 key combo does not display the brightness slider nor does it control brightness 5. Closing the lid and opening it again, causes OSD brightness slider to flash briefly and is now fully functional using Fn+F5/F6 keys
Your tech department should easily be able to re-create this issue on any stock T440S/Win7pro machine, as I have seen others comment about this very issue across other T440/OS variants.
I have Inspiron 9300. Unfortunately, my geforce 6800 died and I bought as a replacement x300 which was installed by a laptop repair service (they fixed other thins too.
It was due to power surge). Everything works but when I boot up the computer or when the display is set to be turned off in the power settings in Windows instead of being actually turned off the display is on and is all white.
Also brightness regulation does not work via Fn +arrows keys and is set to maximum and the white color is so intense that I get a headache after a couple of hours staring at the screen.

My computer gets all current HP/Microsoft updates automatically. My volume control moves up and down automatically. I can choose mute and it will not stay muted. I have turned off my built-in microphone. I had to unistall my HP SmartMenu controls because the buttons wouldn't respond and the on-screen volume display would activate every time the windows volume control would move causing me not to be able to play any games. I have ran MSE and MalwareBytes and have not found any viruses or ad/spyware that is causing the trouble. I don't' know what to do..I really don't want to have to go through the process of windows re-install or game re-installing.
i have downloaded Catalyst Control Center several times but it is still not working. I have Paviliion dv6-6120se, AMD radeon hd 6490M and built-in intel GPU hd 3000 both GPUs is working fine but the problem started when i uninstalled the Catalyst Control Center in order to get a new updated one from AMD website. But the AMD site said my version of radeon hd 6490M is not supported anyway i have tried everything i uninstalled the ATI GPU driver and install it again. Somehow I downloaded Catalyst Control Center the and the installation finished and the same problem it is still not working. Now i lost the Catalyst Control Center and the switchable graphics config.
