ATi X1600 card with 128 dedicated and 512 (shared) total graphics mb.
This 'top' worked flawlessly for a year or so, meaning... I played fps games on high configs... but lately, i've been having some graphic issues...
The game runs fine for about 15 min and then suddenly the frame rate decreases to 1 or even 0.5...this continues for 20 seconds and then normal frame rates resume for about 5 min... and then the process repeats... the vent heats up like crazy...
Now I do own a PS3 and an XBox 360, but sometimes I do prefer classic games(meaning 2006-07) on good old faithful...
Has anybody tried to install Windows7 on this machine?

There are no Windows7 drivers on Acer driver download page, but I've been told that I could run this system, just to install it and that it will download and install needed drivers itself!
I bought my laptop last year around christmas time. Surprisingly the nvidia 7000m performed very well. I was able to run Gothic 3 on low specs, and also fallout 3 which ran well on medium specs. But about 3-5 months ago the performance deteriorated a lot. it got so bad that i cant even watch movies on it anymore. All the framerates, on games it ran fairly well before, are unplayable now. I just hope i didnt fry the gpu because it did overheat before, but i just thought it was normal. Ofcourse if i new about this forum before none of that might have happened. There many useful posts here...
I purchased an Acer Aspire 5100 using it mostly for busines and writing. Now, I'd like to watch some videos, have an webcam, and play games, however, the integrated video card handles none of this well. It's slow and will sputter on something as simple as a short 60 second video clip.
I maxed out the 4GB Ram, thinking that Vista was using too much but it did not help.

I did some research and found that I could go into the BIOS and change the memory from 128 to 512. I tried it, found the setting, changed it, and thought I'd find success. However, Vista somehow read these actions as an error and a failure to start, and would not start........................
if a 9600m gs or any other class 2 graphics card (not counting 8600m gs) can fit and work in a asphire 5520G i've been cheking soooo many sites and stuff, i can't find any thing on this! I also want 2 know if putting such a graphics card in my laptop can lessen its life time, and by how much? if this graphics card fits how much would it cost?
if it's possible to upgrade my laptop's graphics, because I'm attempting to play a few games on it, and it runs them sooo slow. I don't think the Processor or RAM are an issue, but surely the GFX card is. Another thought I had was maybe upgrading my RAM to 2 GB, which could possibly give it a boost because I think my vid card draws some memory from the system?
I've got an Acer Aspire 5315 with the Mobile Intel GMA X3100 in it as standard on the motherboard. Granted this isnt a great card for a lot of (or any) modern games, but I was wondering if it's possible to have another (better) graphics card put in it?..
Maybe a better processor too, because its got a Celeron 550, but the graphics card is priority at the mo.
I have recently become aware that my 5920G has an upgradeable graphics card. Mine is currently an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS 256MB. What cards can I upgrade to?
* Can the video be upgraded with the addition of a dedicated graphics card?
* Does it have a PCI-e slot of any kind for this?
I looked around and found some disassembly instructions, and even poked briefly inside myself but not seeing anything that specifically resembles anything like my previous Inspiron 9300 had as far as slots go.
my boyfriend's laptop, an acer aspire 5315, will turn on but the screen stays blank.. doesnt even light up.. i plugged an exterior monitor into it.. and that didnt work either.. so its eaither the mother board or the graphics card. the latpop still turns on and it looks for a CD in the tray because of the blinking light and i can hear it do so... so the mother board isnt dead... so it MUST be the graphics card... thing is, i think its integrated.. can anyone help? is it even possible to replace an integrated video card?
When i put a DVD in no picture shows up- there is still audio and i can still click options but i cannot see what i am selecting. I also tried playing a youtube video which showed up as a green screen. Ive looked around and it says i need to update my graphics driver. I already looked on the acer website for a graphics driver download and i cannot find one.
I turned on the machine today and instead of the windows login page I was presented with a black screen with many strange characters. I dont understand what happened
I have used the GParted cd on this machine so I put that in and it crashed too.
I have an Acer Aspire 5585WXMi laptop, approx. 2 yrs old purchased in Singapore. It came with Intel's standard Graphics Media Accelerator 950 and I was wondering if there was any possibility of upgrading to the NVidia GPU? When I purchased the laptop I could have paid a little bit extra for the NVidia add-on but decided against (regretting now) so as far as I can tell it should be possible to add on the GPU module?
It worked fine for a year but starting the second year, the sound card started to fail, and by that I mean that the sound sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't, but I solved this problem by buying an external sound card.
Two months ago I accidentally hit the laptop in the wall and after that incident the Graphics card can't process anything that requires high or medium graphics for example:
-When I play 720p videos the video runs very slow, it should be noted that I used to play 720p withouth any problem before the accident.
-The Windows Experience Index for Graphics went from 3.4 to 2.0 after the accident.
-Games that used to run at 30-40 FPS, now run at 2 - 3 FPS max.
- Windows AERO runs very slow now, so I if I want to use windows I have to run Windows Classic theme.
Things I've done:
1) Format my PC and tried different OSs XP, 7. 2) Flash the BIOS. 3) Change the Hard Drive with another one. 4) Change the RAM. None of these things worked.
Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?
The one component of my Acer Aspire 5002LMi notebook that defies upgrade is the SiS M760GX integrated graphics. Otherwise, I've been very happy with the unit. Processor, hard drive and ram upgrades were easy. Is anyone aware of any tweeks that can be done to get the most out of this weak integrated graphics platform? Suggestions appreciated as I intend to keep the unit in service for a long time using XP Pro since the graphic won't handle Vista. Obviously, not a gaming machine but it will handle some older games.

I know there has been a lot of threads questioning this and generaly speaking most people have said it is not possible, but i really dont want to believe it as its the only thing that lets my laptop down!

if i cant then what would my best option be to have the same sort of specification as my current laptop, but with a decent graphics card? or invest in getting a desktop?

I just received my new Acer Aspire 5739g and I want to get the lastest nvidia drivers but nvidia says that i can't that acer wants me to do if from there site and they aren't up to date. I can't even do it manually by downloading the updated driver from nvidia. I downloaded the newer driver and the only thing it let me update from my download was the audio driver. my geforce driver is still the same one 179.52. How do i get it up to 186.xx. i'm lost. also can i get rid of this "mywinlocker" what is that.

I have an Acer Aspire 7720G which has a Nvidia GeForce 9300M G 256MB graphics card.

I've installed a clean version of Vista Ultimate but it doesn't recognise that there's a graphics card present. I've tried to instal the drivers from the Nvidia website but it aborts because it can't find the hardware.
I've also tried installing Vista SP1 but still no avail.
The Acer M5 series..  The display doesnt wake up inspite of updating the graphic drivers and BIOS. I checked the settings on the power management still no response.  Everytime i have to wake up the laptop screen i have to long press the power button and restart the laptop.  I have Windows 8.1 updated.
I have an aspire 4745G which AMD Radeon Graphics might somehow be corrupted, and so ever since I was using the Intel dedicated VRAM, However I have accidentally changed graphics from switchable to discreet in BIOS and after restart all I get is black screen. I tried resetting the BIOS by shorting the jumpers beneath the WLAN card as per the manual but its still no good. The only thing it does after turning it on is that the HDD LED lights up for a second and then gone all black screen ...
Acer Aspire 3830TG-6494 crashes while gaming. Â Crash symptoms:
-happens anywhere from within the first 15 minutes to several hours into a game (no link to graphic quality settings). No loss in performance leading up to the crash.  -screen glitches and goes black, with a brief buzzing sound. Power remains on and fan is still running, forcing a hard reset.  -Occasionally the sceen will freeze, ~1cm horizontal green lines will appear all over and a loud buzzing sound is emitted from the speakers until a hard reset.  -Rarely I get a BSOD or the computer will shut down and restart itself. Resulting DMP files show no consistent suspected cause.  -Crash will occasionally be preceded by certain in-game sounds cutting out. But not always.  -The only link between crashes is that I'm usually thinking a solution worked right before the crash. (Frustrating!)  -System will occasionally crash while  watching videos or something, but only crashes consistently while gaming.   I have tried the following:Â
-Running games using only the integrated graphics or nVidia GeForce GT 540M GPU.  -Underclocking either the GPU(500MHz and 700MHz, from 672MHz and 900MHz), the CPU (seting max 70% power plan), and both simultaneously.  -Temperatures do not exceed 70C under heavy use, and crash does not seem to be linked to any temperature increases.  -Run both Windows 7 memory diagnostic and memtest86 (no problems found)  -Run intel CPU diagnostics and intel XTU benchmark which did not cause a crash.  -Upgrading all drivers to latest versions, as well as rolling them back to the versions recommended on acer download website. (Completely uninstalling graphics drivers before re-installing different versions) And making sure windows update was not automatically installing driver updates.  -upgrading BIOS to v1.12, it was stable for a weekend then went back to crashing.  -The system seems to be more stable in power saver or balance mode, but not  by much. I also suspected the Ac power adapter because it didn't seem to crash on battery for a brief time. But I was wrong and it did end up crashing whether plugged in or not.Â
Aand cleaning it out w/ compressed air, obviously ... I don't game often, and usually play older games on lower quality settings. I'm not overclocking or streaming at the same time.Â
I was playing Minecraft two days ago using the GeForce GT 730M graphics card not the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics card when suddenly purple squares appeared on the game screen. The purple squares didn't appear any where else. The game crashed saying I had a bad driver. Then the laptop pop a blue screen saying VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. The laptop restarted as usual. I had this message before but further problems occurred. But this time is different.
After restarting I re-launched Minecraft but the game crashed saying I had a bad driver. I uninstalled the current driver using the programs and features and reinstalled the driver for my laptop found in Acer.com. The issue still continued. I went into Device Manager and found out that the graphics card had a code 43 issue. I found a solution online that said to install the newest driver on GeForce.com.
I did that and it seemed to remove the code 43 but when I went into NVIDIA GeForce Experience it said that my laptop didn't have a NVIDIA graphics card. Thinking it could of been a option that I changed that caused this, I did a refresh, and system restore to still see that my laptop wont recognize my NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M graphics card and that NVIDIA Driver Support Service was gone. It allows me to see when the NVIDIA GPU is in use. The system was cool when I started playing Minecraft when the problem happened.

I installed Windows 7 professional (x64) successfully.
I installed all the drivers downloaded form the support section also successfully. Â The problem is that on approximately every 5~10 minutes I get the following message:
"display driver intel hd graphics drivers for windows 8(r) stopped responding and has recovered". Â This message by itself is not annoying. The problem is that during skype video call after getting this message I don't see anymore nor my own video nor the video of the called.
Not only this, restarting the call does not fix the problem.Â
The only solution is to restart skype but this also does not work everytime.  I had similar issue with youtube videos but I fixed the problem by setting NVIDIA as preferred graphics processor for the browser application, however I don;t have such option for skype.
