I am having a Acer E1-571 windows 8 laptop. Since after a recent upgradation to windows 8.1 my wifi is showing limited connectivity. But other devices connected to this router (D-Link) is having internet. My wireless adapter is Broadcom 802.11 adapter.
I have Acer 5684WLMI laptop which comes with internal wifi card which is ABG now I want to upgrade it to 4965AGN.
Trouble I am having after installing the card is, it cannot see any access points/Wireless Routers whilst there are, after lot of troubleshooting I found out the button in front is disabled & it will not enable even though I have fiddling.
Just recieved my intel 5300 wifi card ready for the upgrade.
Upgrade physically went semi well, the 4965agn that was fitted was a devil to get out.
Seems like acer decided to get superman to tighten the two screws that hold the wifi card down. In the end the only solution was to remove the 2 pillers from the pcb(with pliers and brute force) and remove the card.
Windows xp fired up fine, no wifi connected popup. drivers were my first thought.
Checked device manager, code 10 on the device. tried new drivers, old driver sets, no progress.
Also there was a few links about the pcie 2 and pcie 1 compatiblity problems. But a pcie2 card should run at the pcie1 speeds when fitted to that slot, so that shouldnt be the problem.
Ive ordered a 2nd intel 5300, one that should be 'more' compatible..we will see. will post update on that when it arrives.
as of this point id say that the intel wifi 5300 does not play well with the acer 6920g.
The model I am looking to get is the Acer Aspire One 160gb 6 celled battery, 8.9" 1gb Ram WinXP based system.
After reading a bit about people having connectivity problems (very big deal for me in a laptop), I'm scared on whether or not I should buy it. Everything else looked great but I don't really know Acer at all, so the idea that they could have shipped out defective Wifi chips and not fix it due to costs could be a reality.
However, when looking at reviews, it seems like everyone who is having these problems have 1) the LINUX version, and 2) the NON-6 celled battery version (120gb Aspire 512 ram 349$ version) and no one seems to differentiate between these (I don't know if it actually makes a difference though).
So, are there connectivity problems on the Acer Aspire One or is this an isolated problem that could happen to all notebooks?
I bought the Aspire E5-571 yesterday and i have been trying to connect to wifi with no luck what so ever. it runs windows 8.1 x64bit. i have updated the atheros network adapter to .285 provided on the acer drivers downloads section. but still no luck. wifi connections are shown but i cannot connect to them, i have bt infinity using the bt hub 4. i get as far as typing in the pass code for the router but then says it cannot connect. my other devices can connect (iPhone, laptop running win7). the only way for me to connect is to sit on my stairs using an ethernet cable.
The Aspire One is a great machine that, for me, was mildly crippled by a finicky Wi-Fi connection. There has been some discussion about this on other parts of the web. For some people, the actual wireless module turns on and off occasionally. For other people, the wireless connects and works just fine, but then won't work for a few minutes - but doesn't disconnect from the router. After a brief wait, the internet works again.
I had the problem of the module remaining connected but not working. Fooling with various settings helped, but it was still not as good as it should be, so I decided to replace the module with an Intel 4965AGN wireless module. This is the easiest fix for those who have this problem and have been frustrated by a solution. I say "easy," because it was easy to spend $35 for the module on eBay and install it, rather than spend another 3 hours fiddling with the settings.
I followed the disassembly guide here to take the keyboard and top panel off. This guide is great, and the author did a nice job with the descriptions..............
I have both a 4730 and 4730z. The network cards are not identical but my issue is. I'm trying to connect to my 5GHz N network from the Netgear WNDR3300 router. Neither system displays this network in the available networks display. I can only see the 2.4GHz network. I have tested the router with a Toshiba wireless N and an HP g. Both of these laptops can view both networks and connect to the N 5GHz network. The Toshiba, since it is an N, can connect at the higher speed. The HP can connect to it but will only connect at the g speed. So I do not believe I have a problem with the router. I have been trying to get a response from Acer tech support for 2 days;
Before I start I know exactly what a RC version of the OS is and that it is expected to have bugs and other annoyance, as well as no official driver support etc.
But wondering if anybody has a fix to this problem:
The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5044 WLMi, 1.8ghz Turion, 1.5GB Ram, 80GB HDD. Windows 7 has installed correctly and is running. Drivers for all the hardware have been successfully installed and the laptop is running just as well as a Windows XP fresh install.
Only problem is that although the Wireless Card (Atheros AR5005G) is showing as functioning correctly in Device manager, the laptop is not picking up the wireless network in our house even, no matter where I take the laptop to................
My laptop just wont connect to the Wifi ! ...I installed a new hard drive a few months ago due to my origional being on the blink...I managed to install all the drivers etc and everything is working fine, except that is the Wifi, it has worked since however since moving house I have really struggled with it (it would connect on very rare occasions, for brief periods - although more recently will not connect whatsoever).
(It says that there is no drive for the Ethernet Controller however i was under the impression that this wouldnt hinder the wireless connection?)
My wifi was working perfectly before the restore and then stopped working after the restore. I did the restore to get rid of my data and start fresh for next years school yeat.
my problem is that WiFi literally don't work - i can't connect to any network.I'm using Windows 8 Pro.It's a i5 + geforce gt 630M version. When i'm installing an Atheros Drivers, it says that device is disconnected and drivers cannot be installed.
Wi-Fi is totally turned off - I mean the led isn't lightning, blinking or nothing - it's dead.
I can't use Fn + F3, it don't work at all.
I've installed LaunchManager, Fast Lane, Touch Pad and Dritek Rf button.
Now, in Fn + F3 i can turn Airplane mode, nor Wi-Fi.Is there any solution to turn this on? It stopped to work from day to a day - yesterday it works, now it isn't.
Done some formats, it don't even work on Windows 7 with Acer drivers. Maybe card is dead?
I just reinstalled my Acer Aspire 5930G (844G32BN) with Vista Home Premium. Everything looks fine except the wireless connection. My computer cannot find any wireless networks (although my other notebook finds all 3 around me). It looks like as if the notebooks WiFi signal would not work.
Could anyone tell me what exact drivers the original installation have? I tried the Intel ProSet/Wireless drivers now. The WiFi led flashes, but cannot find any networks. With the original installation I had no problem regarding the WiFi.
Everything is fine, except that it can't locate my wireless adapter/hardware stuff. I've already downloaded and installed the Broadcom 802.11 Wireless Adapter setup but to no avail.
I got this laptop from TigerDirect $399 special. I only have one issue which is the wifi keeps dropping me from my own router.
Also when I turn on my laptop I have to rescan to find my router. I have a Linksys WRT54G switched from wep to wpa helped a little also change channels.
Drives,Acer Emangement software all installed. Bios up to date 1.43
On a side note anyone know if they fixed the 4gb bsod issue yet? This is my first laptop.
Intel Celeron dual-core T1400 GPU:Intel X3100 2gb DDR Ram 15.4 WXGA LCD SCREEN 120gb HD upgraded to 500gb
I have got my hard drive replaced under warranty. Now i have installed a fresh copy of windows 8.1. The drivers of wireless have been installed by windows. Its Broadcom 802.11ac version 6.30.223.102.
After using the inbuild recovery manager on my Aspire one 753 my laptop will not conect to Wireless internet. I think the problem has somthing to do with drivers but i am not sure.
I have an Aspire V5-552P and ever since a few months ago its wifi range has been really small. It has to be right next to a router for it to connect when it didn't have this problem before. All of my other devices can connect from a distance just fine so I know it is not a problem with the router. Is my wireless adapter faulty?
Wifi not showing and not connecting to internet but does with cable, Fn+F3 used and showing turning on and off on screen. When I tried installing drivers for this Atheros wifi card I get the message "the device may not be present or could be unplugged", I have fitted a replacement card but still the same. I also have an exclamation mark in the device manager against the Intel(R) 5 series/3400 series chipset family PCI Express Root Port 2 - 3B44. Are these faults somehow connected?
Just bought an Acer Aspire E15 and have been setting it up today and managed to get connected to the internet through the wi-fi however I have noticed that the wifi keeps dropping and leaves me with nothing and then I have to manually go in and select the router again. This is happening all the time, I am on the internet for no longer than 2 mins before I get the unable to access the network. There is no problem with the network it just seems to be my new laptop. I looked this up and was told to change the power management settings and did so and am still have the same problem. I also updated the driver and again am still having the problem. Also tried ipconfig /flushdns and again the problem persists!
