Where are the drivers for Vista-to-Win 7 upgrade?
What is the recommended procedure for 1?
Should the C/D partition be preserved after upgrade?
If 3 is "yes", which backup program should be used thereafter: Acer, MS, or both?
What is the matrix key for the 2 LEDs on the left top edge (see pic)?
(this should be 6.) Can the card reader be upgraded to read SDHC memory cards?

(this should be 8.) Where is the Acer-sponsored user forum for Acer computers?

Acer :: Aspire 5735-4624 Drivers
i just got this notebook listed on the title right? Mostly everything works perfectly.
Except apparently i have to update my Drivers for the Intel(R) GMA Driver for Mobile. So i look at the Intel website no drivers found, or ones that needed updates..
So Ive been told that in some cases for laptops you must go to the computer manufacturers website and find the drivers there, this website being Acer. But it seems there is no trace for Aspire 5735-4624 Drivers ANYWHERE. I think the laptop is fairly new but there has to be SOME drivers somewhere right? I am not sure if this is a problem for any other people out there, or i am just not looking hard enough?
Acer :: Aspire 5735 - Mystery Screen Pixelation
I have just bought an Aspire 5735 a few weeks ago and, to be fair, it's fantastic for the money; however, i've noticed that in spite of the screen being sharp it appears slightly grainy when i physically scan across the screen with my eyes?!! I have checked this against my 7 year old Sony Vaio but it doesn't have the same problem, it's a mystery...
I was kind of wondering if because the pixels where so closely produced (it is quite a compact 15.4" widescreen display) that it was a trick of the mind? The grainy effect is symetrical like a chequerboard pattern or herringbone!
If i stare at the screen without any physical movement the picture/graphics are pin sharp, it's only if I alter my viewing angle or scan the screen quickly with my peepers; maybe my brain just isn't sharp enough any more to de-code the data!
My exact model details are:- Aspire 5735, 4gb ram, 6400 intel core2duo, vista premium home edition.
Acer :: Does The Aspire 5735-733G32Mn Have A 3gb Limit
I've recently posted a question here Total Memory in task manager incorrect after upgrade to 4gb Aspire 5735 where I received some great help. However I've done a bit more research and I'm starting to fear my notebook may be limited to 3gb by the bios/chipset for some reason. I have just upgraded it from 3gb to 4gb. The bios shows 4gb as the installed amount but memtest in dos mode only shows 3000mb total as does windows task manager.
So it appears the notebook detects the 4gb installed ram but only allocated 3gb.
My question is does anyone know if acer has limited this notebook to 3gb total and if there are any suggestions on getting around this limit?

Acer :: 5735 Internet
I have an Acer 5735 laptop that I have used to access the internet wirelessly in the past on other networks without issue. I recently bought a TRENDnet TEW-637AP and plugged it into the back of my wireless router. I am getting a good signal and I am connecting to the network according to Vista but I cannot get it to load a web page to save my life. This hasn't been an issue in the past on other networks.
Acer :: Which To Go For 5738 Or 5735
I was about to purchase a 5735 before the 5738 came out. Acer call it to be a new laptop but the specs are identical, I've checked the acer site and its all the same other than the bio-security. Can anyone else explain the differences? Is the 5738 a better chassis etc because I can't tell why the 5738 is more expensive other than blu-ray etc, which my model won't have.
Both are Centrino 2 laptops as well.
Should I just go with the 5735. Anyone have any good experiences of using the 5735 laptop? Strong, quick and reliable?
I've got an offer to buy a 5738 with a 250HD for £419 and a 5735 with a 500HD for £440.
Other than the hard drive and the fact that the 5738 is newer, which would you go for?
Acer :: Just Bought An 5735-4624 And Want To Put XP On It
I just bought a new Acer 5735-4624 aspire model. It comes with Vista and of course I'm looking to move back to Xp. Only thing is I cant find any support drivers anywhere. Even on the Acer site--the friggin model is not even listed. I know it's new and all---but!
I have an e-mail in to Acer support but I already know about their famous support woes.
Anyone have an idea so I can move to little ol' XP?
Any drivers perhaps from other models that might be compatiable?
Acer :: 5735 Wont Run Games
I just bought an acer 5735z and with the intel 4500mhd and it wont even start any games at all, it always goes to a black screen.
I've updated the graphics drivers and still the same black screen, I've tried call of duty 4 and 3dmark 05 and they both do exactly the same thing it just won't run them
here's the specs;
Acer :: 5735-4774 Recovery Disk
One of the OEM memory modules took a hike, so I replaced both modules with a Corsair 2x2gb DDR2 800MHz kit.
Did the Alt-F10 and got Vista back.
While deleting all the bloat-ware I was prompted to make the Recovery Disk.
I went ahead and made the Recovery Disk after deleting all the game stuff.
After all that business I went ahead and finished deleting the NTI back up 5 and a couple other things.
Now I am in the process of installing the downloaded .exe SP2 for Vista and will jump online and do some other Microsoft updates (Defender, Explorer 8) the usual stuff.
Can I make another set of restore disk that will have all the updates and all that buiness? Or is the restore disk option just for when you first start using the system?
Acer :: The Aspire Or The Aspire Timeline
I'm planning on getting either both of these computers, Aspire AS5538-1096 or Aspire Timeline 5810-4784. Everything else is understandable except the part of the processor.
The Aspire as5538 comes with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-core Processor L310 1.2GHz, 1 MB L2 cache. While the Aspire Timeline comes with an Intel Pentium Processor DU4199 1.3GHz, 2MB L2 cache. I mean, are intel making pentiums with dual core? Can it beat the Athlon 64 x2 1.2 dual core? Even if it costs more with the Aspire Timeline?
Here are links I found with some detailed information about these two products:
Aspire Timeline 5810-4784
My main concern is, dual core, portability, and solid design. In better words, which is the best one?
Acer :: Aspire 8930G-644G32MN Or The Aspire 8930G-584G32BN
Seeing as I pretty much made up my mind and want to buy a Acer Aspire 8930G, I hope somebody here can give me some specific advice. Maybe someone who owns one of the laptops (I hope there aren't any differences, depending on the country you live in)
I am looking at the Acer Aspire 8930G-644G32MN or the ACER Aspire 8930G-584G32BN. The first one is 300 Euro's cheaper than the last one. Besides that big difference I can't seem to find any. Did I miss some specific diffence, like do they both have Surround Sound and a BluRay drive and a full HD screen? Does any of the two support DVB-T? Do they both have a 9600 GT graphics card?
The reason why I ask is because I looked through, I don't know how many internetsites with specs and it's amazing how they all differ, obviously mainly copied and pasted from other internetsites. And I really want to get the right one and not regret my purchase after a while.
Acer :: Aspire 6935g3333333333333333
I am tkinking about getting a better CPU and GPU for my Laptop. I am thinking about upgrading my T6400 to T9400 and get rid of my 9600GS and upgrade it to something more powerful. I don't have a problem with CPU upgrade but I have never done the GPU. Since it is a MXM-II graphic card how difficult can it be to install something different? Are you able to swap between NVIDIA and ATI cards?Z
Acer :: Aspire 1501LMi
I have an Acer Aspire 1501LMi laptop. I recently purchased 2gb ram for it (2x1gb sticks) through crucial UK, using their tool to help determine the ram that you need.
For some reason, I have been unable to use both sticks together though? It appeared to crash windows on boot up, and thinking there may be some sort of weird configuration with windows which is causing this, I have attempted to reinstall but have found it crashes during the install too. (I am running windows XP Pro with SP3). Strangely though, it DOES work fine if I use either of the 1gb sticks along with a 512mb stick of ram? Plus each Ram stick has been tested individually and found to be functioning correctly!
I have contacted Crucial about this, and they have also replaced both of the sticks of ram. Unfortunately, the same thing continues to happens?
My Acer bios version is 1.06. My Phoenix Bios version is "PhoenixBios 4.0 release 6.0", however, going onto Phoenix's website, the newest version is "PhoenixBios 4.0 release 6.1". Whilst on the Phoenix website, I noticed that they link to a website offering an update service called eSupport.com. I ran there tool, and it suggested i can get the newer PhoenixBios version for my laptop but you have to pay for it? Acers website only has my current version 1.06 of the acer 1500 bios.
Does anyone have any experience of this problem, or does anyone have any experience of running PhoenixBios 4.0 release 6.1 on an Aspire 1501LMi laptop?
Acer :: Aspire Shutting Off
i have an acer aspire 5100 series everything is great on it except i have this weird problem, when i connect to my wireless network after is says connected i open the iexplorer and then the laptop shuts off. Thats the only time it does that, if i dont connect to the internet it works fine and never turns off. First i thought it was overheating but i bought those fans that go under the laptops and still shuts off when i connect to my wireless network. Anyone have any idead of what could be causing this?
Acer :: Aspire 8920
I am fairly certain I will be getting the Acer Aspire 8920 once I can sell my old laptop (14") for a fairly decent price.
But I am struggling of which version of 8920 I should get. Two caught my attention though...
1) Price: $1649: 2.5GHz CPU; 4 GB memory; 320GB; Nvidia 9500M GS
2) Price: $1170: 2.0GHz CPU; 4 GB memory; 320GB; Radeon HD 3650
As far as I am concerned; the two graphic cards are not hugely different in performance. Is that $480 difference solely for CPU worth it?
I am not a huge gamer, but I do play some games occasionally and don't mind being blown away by the photo-realistic graphics in the future.
So the thing is, with the 2.5GHz, I may be able to swap with a much better graphics card and able able to play games with awesome graphic a few years down the road; whereas, with only 2.0GHz CPU, you can't really do much.
Acer :: New Aspire 6930G
So far I think its a great notebook for the price. I have'nt ran into any serious issues.
1. Sound - When playing music the sound is ok, However with Bluray or DVDs the sound is very low, even on 100% volume level. I tested the Bluray disc that came with it and the DVD to Twister, and in a quiet room its too low to capture all the details of the sound.
Agian music (ie.MP3s) sound fine, but movies are very low. I tried enabling the Dolby Pro IIx but that didn't help.
2. Webcam - How exactly do I turn it on/off. I found the crystal eye software that works with it automatically turning the camera on, but it has no options to do anything with it. No record button or anything.
I read that Windows Movie Maker can be used, but it does not detect the camera at all.
3. Acer Arcade Deluxe. - The album art of the music that I add does show up. I have them embedded in the idtags, They show up in Vista Media Center however.
4. This is probably more of a Vista issue, but I noticed the hard drive is constanly being access most of the time, and I can't figure out why.
I googled and learned about potential culprits like Superfetch, and Search Indexing, Auto defraging, and Malware Scanners. And after disabling all of that the drive still read/writes like crazy when its idle. In Task Manager, I've discover that a file lsass.exe and svchost.exe are the primary culprits, but I don't know if and how I should disable them.
Acer :: Aspire 8930G
Basically, the laptop can't find any wireless networks in range, normally it finds several.
I know the wireless router / internet are fine because if I plug the Ethernet cable into the laptop from the router, the laptop goes online and likewise my old laptop will connect to the internet via wireless straight away.
On my new laptop, I've tried several ways to make it find the router but all it says is it can't find anything. I've clicked diagnosis why it can't find anything and it comes up with wireless is currently OFF and needs turning on by a button normally found on the top or side of the laptop.
I've clicked the button and it's 100% on, yet it keeps telling me it's not. The orange wireless light which normally comes on when it is connected isn't coming on either.
Any ideas? I've restarted the laptop and reset the router but nothing and I haven't changed anything, it just went off last night whilst on MSN and browsing eBay.
It's running Windows Vista and using Intel(R) Wireless Wifi Link 5100.
I've tried everything I can think off but end result is always it can't find any networks.
Acer :: Aspire 7730
Acer Aspire 7730 584G16Mn System bios v0.3509
I want to run xp on this pre-installed vista home basic laptop and to cut a long story short have installed xp in Sata Mode: Ide because all the other methods tried ie:nlite slipstreaming have not worked for me
Now I have xp working I would like to enable AHCI mode in the bios but the various tutorials Ive looked at so far have been unsuccessful.
Has anyone who has this model Aspire 7730 been successful in this procedure or knows a way that has worked for others?
I repeat that this should be a procedure that is Aspire 7730 specific as I feel this is the key.
Acer :: Aspire 6930
I've just purchased an Acer Aspire 6930. It came with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD and a HDMI out port. The weird thing is that if I can't play HD-DVDs or BlueRay discs, then what's the point of having it? Can anyone tell me why they setup that way?
Acer :: Aspire One Processor
I bought an Aspire One at Costco with an 11.6" screen. I love the extra real estate, however I am concerned about the processor, which is only 1.25gig. I have the option of taking this machine back. I did not realize that this was not a 1.6gig processor when I purchased it. Anyone have any experience with this model?
Acer :: Aspire 6920Ginternet
I've been at university for 3/4 of a year now, so I know this isnt the fault of the uni's routers. My friends are also able to play internet games with ease.
However, I believe I made a stupid mistake and may have accidently deleted an important file enabling me to connect to the internet. I now have to connect to the internet on my laptop by going to:
control panel > network & internet > internet options > connections > LAN settings and then enable a proxy server in order to make the internet connect at all.
Ofcourse, this now means I cant access particular things such as itunes online, lan games with my friends on campus and connecting to applications such as Valve's "Steam" online features.
Im not sure why this has suddenly happened. I don't know what I've deleted but I know its probably something important. Or maybe it just happened randomly,
Acer :: Aspire 9410z XP
I recently downgraded to XP due to the fact that Vista is a piece of crap as everyone knows. I slipstreamed SATA and took a while to find all the drivers.... finally got everything including the Wireless working.. Alright heres were the problems start..... my computer randomly starts lagging out of no where.... crashing + BSOD.... and yeah.... When my comp is about to crash the hard drive tends to make.... abnormal noises. And when the computer starts lagging it doesnt matter how many programs I have running.
I would like to stay with XP but I will go back to Vista if I have to to fix these problems.... I dont know if im missing drivers or if the computer is being weird because its built for vista... or if something is wrong with the hard drive...
Acer :: 3G Built-in For Aspire One?
when 3G for the Acer Aspire One is finally offered, new models, of course, will have 3G capability built in. Does anybody have a guess as to what kind of modification or accessory we will be able to use to get 3G on existing AAOs.
I would rather not have to go the route of the ATT USB DataConnect thingy, but will if I have to.
Acer :: Aspire One Is So Very Very Slow
Last week I bought a small Aspire One 1.6 Ghtz Wind. XP with 1 gig ram and it is the slowest laptop I have ever owned.
I boot up and get on line, and then I have a 30 - 40 sec wait every single time I try to change screens.
The problem is not booting up, or even getting on line, but it takes too long to get from screen to screen once I am on line.
Before I throw this away, as I can not return it, please, what do I do with this $300 doorstop?
Acer :: Aspire 7520
I've recently bought the 7520, and at the moment everything is working hunky dory. In fact, it is quite a good machine.
I've made myself both a full bootable recovery disk, and a disk with all the drivers and applications. The only bugbear for me is the customizability that I want to do. I have never owned a laptop before, preferring my desktop pc which I have upgraded to a wonderful, powerful beast.
I bought the laptop so I could be elsewhere in my home and be connected to the net via TP-Link. Even this works great and at full speed. So, currently no problem.
Obviously the OS is Vista 32 bit, which I want to downgrade to XP. On the Acer website there are no XP drivers for the inner components of the 7520, and I am assuming that all the Acer bumpf like 'enet' and 'empowerment', etc, are part and parcel of the drivers...or are they simply Acer software which you can delete without any degredation to the operability of the system?
The truth is, I want my laptop to be a mirror microcosm of my desktop pc. Is it possible for me to downgrade to XP, but beforehand, to find and backup the proper XP drivers for the inner components of my laptop before I attempt to do so?

Acer :: Aspire 1360
I am trying to repair my daughter's notebook with XP professional that freezes on startup. It starts loading XP and then goes to a blue error screen that stays up for about 1 second. I tried getting into the repair console, but get stopped at the administrator password screen. I am hesitant at using the restore OS discs because I'm trying to save the data (mostly pictures and music). After looking around for inputs, I believe the failure to start may be due to her using "the empty half" of her 60 GB hard drive to store her music and free up space on the main partition. I was getting to the point of pulling the drive out and adding it as a slave drive on my desktop so I can copy the data and then reinstall the OS.

I was "LUCKY" enough to also purchase one of the fine pieces of quality laptop , but thx to a lot of folks here, I think I may have work thru most of the issues, like overheating, so tonight my wife is experimenting with her cleaned out and battery free Acer Aspire, I took the back off so I could personally get to the fan, it's not too hard to get to, but be careful with the little tabs, used a small screw driver slowly lift it up one tab at a time. So I have read all the post or most of them pertaining to the problems with the laptop, I want to downgrade the computer to XP and I also want to update the bios, now I am not a very dumb person, I can upgrade inside parts on CPU's, but when it comes to the BIOS and other crap, I am a little handicapped, in other words I don't wanna screw up my wifes laptop till I smash it with a baseball bat next year at tax time, so I need to know if uploading the update for the BIOS and the downgrade to XP is the right jobs for me? I think the BIOS sounds pretty easy to do, but I am not sure about the XP down grade, so any help is always appreciated, she is also havin an issue with programs not responding, is this one from the over heating or what?
Acer :: Aspire Firewall
I have an Acer Aspire 5610. every time I switch the laptop on a warning bubble appears warning me that my firewall is not turned on. I go to my control panel and the firewall icon there but when I open the firewall settings it is on. Do I need to download a new version or something?? Not seen this before.
A guy also attempted to fix my laptop when it broke last year and since then the acer orbican webcam hasn't worked. the message says to check connection and that it isnt being used by another user. Do I need to download a new driver?

Acer :: Aspire 5600
I am going to be doing a fresh install of XP on this machine.
I have downloaded all the drivers for the laptop that I think I need. I only have two questions:
1) The VGA_ATI.zip file, that will install the Catalyst Control Center and everything, right?
2) How do I install the LAN driver? I have the LanRTL.zip file downloaded, however in the folder there is no Setup.exe file. Just 3 .sys data files and a system info file. No executables at all.
Before I go ahead and do the format tomorrow morning, I'd like to get these questions answered. My internet on this computer is connected through Ethernet, so I kinda need to make sure the LAN is working.
Here is the rest of the files I have downloaded, am I missing anything?
