I have an Acer Aspire 5735 with an inbuilt Crystal Eye Webcam, I have managed to set up and talk to a contact, but my contact can see me, but I cannot see them. What do I need to do to rectify this? Or is it my contacts problem.
View 5 RepliesThis ones just a small problem. My webcam works fine, but it's missing on the menu and i can't locate it anywhere in my files so it's just a bit annoying if i want to make a video. It's not even in the manual (printed or computer version). It took three weeks before it appeared in the menu after I bought the laptop, but since I had to restore to factory default and god knows where it is, as i say it's only a minor problem, no location in services. and when i expand my Acer menus theres nothing there either.

I have been playing about with it, which ended up meaning I unstall everything (I think). I have installed loads of drivers and software for the webcam but all failed, the camera just doesnt seem to turn on...
I have taken my screen apart unplugged it, uninstalled software, plugged in and reinstall but nothing..Plus once I have installed the driver, I look in device manager and see nothing relating to my webcam.
what I need to download, how to install and how to check the driver is in place
my notebook will not off after restarting. it stays at "WINDOWS IS SHUTTING DOWN" and God knows how long it will be like that if i dun press the off button. i found out that either the BISON or SUYIN webcam software is causing the problem....
View 6 Replies View RelatedI basically used my webcam every night with Skype to talk to my friends. The very next day, it stops working. Ive literally tried everything. In the device manager, I have an "Unknown Device" listed as a USB. Im 100% sure this use to be my Camera.
I just used the Acer factory CDs to reinstall my OS + Drivers. All the drivers were successfully installed with the exception of the Camera Drivers (because the computer doesnt see a camera)
I tried to download the drivers from the Acer website but (both Chicony and Suyin) and everytime I try to install them a error comes up that says "Camera not found!" I have a laptop so I have no clue how its not finding it.
ive been working on this for hours now and its really getting frustrating. Here are the things ive tried, and if someone knows a solution or a different method I havent tried to fix it, PLEASE let me know
My methods:
1. Reformatted computer using Acer recovery discs
2. Downloaded and tried to install drivers from acer website (camera not found problem)
3. Put windows in Safe mode, uninstalled unknown device, restarted computer to let it automatically scan/update (still failed)
4. Deleted all pictures from My Pictures
5. Tried using Windows Vista drivers and setting to Vista Compatibility mode (I have windows 7), no avail
6. Uninstalled and reinstalled Unknown Device (aka camera) driver, didnt work
7. Tried the windows update software option, windows said everything was fine (pshhh).
8. Uninstalled unknown device, used the option "scan for hardware changes" still didnt work
9. Installed skype to see if the webcam would be recognized, which it wasnt.
These were not answered by Acer tech soupport [not a typo or misspelling]. Each was sent in as a separate question and returned marked "closed".
Where are the drivers for Vista-to-Win 7 upgrade?
What is the recommended procedure for 1?
Should the C/D partition be preserved after upgrade?
If 3 is "yes", which backup program should be used thereafter: Acer, MS, or both?
What is the matrix key for the 2 LEDs on the left top edge (see pic)?
(this should be 6.) Can the card reader be upgraded to read SDHC memory cards?
(this should be 7.) Where is the Acer knowledge base reference library for this notebook?
(this should be 8.) Where is the Acer-sponsored user forum for Acer computers?
I recieved the Aspire one notebook for a christmas gift not to long ago and it is an awesome little gadget. But what just happened a few moments ago is the camera decided it wasn't going to work anymore and I got a message saying. "Camera not detected." I tried doing restarts resets and even did a eRecovery only to be told that it was a usb device and that I need to "plug it in". I don't understand why it decided to randomly stop working and I'm rather annoyed by it and would like some assistance on this issue. I had to send back one notebook already because the power source was busted I really don't want to have to send this one back too.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem for a couple of weeks now. Didn't notice this until I installed Windows 7, but now my webcam does not work. I think it has to do with my laptop falling off the couch as I had problems after that getting the card reader to work (card reader is fine now). I have tried running the Crystal Eye program in XP, Vista 32-bit, Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit with no luck (it just says camera not found). Occasionally in Vista I will get a popup error message saying a usb device has malfunctioned, and when I look in device manager it says unknown device.

Except apparently i have to update my Drivers for the Intel(R) GMA Driver for Mobile. So i look at the Intel website no drivers found, or ones that needed updates..
So Ive been told that in some cases for laptops you must go to the computer manufacturers website and find the drivers there, this website being Acer. But it seems there is no trace for Aspire 5735-4624 Drivers ANYWHERE. I think the laptop is fairly new but there has to be SOME drivers somewhere right? I am not sure if this is a problem for any other people out there, or i am just not looking hard enough?
I've recently posted a question here Total Memory in task manager incorrect after upgrade to 4gb Aspire 5735 where I received some great help. However I've done a bit more research and I'm starting to fear my notebook may be limited to 3gb by the bios/chipset for some reason. I have just upgraded it from 3gb to 4gb. The bios shows 4gb as the installed amount but memtest in dos mode only shows 3000mb total as does windows task manager.
So it appears the notebook detects the 4gb installed ram but only allocated 3gb.
My question is does anyone know if acer has limited this notebook to 3gb total and if there are any suggestions on getting around this limit?
I have just bought an Aspire 5735 a few weeks ago and, to be fair, it's fantastic for the money; however, i've noticed that in spite of the screen being sharp it appears slightly grainy when i physically scan across the screen with my eyes?!! I have checked this against my 7 year old Sony Vaio but it doesn't have the same problem, it's a mystery...
I was kind of wondering if because the pixels where so closely produced (it is quite a compact 15.4" widescreen display) that it was a trick of the mind? The grainy effect is symetrical like a chequerboard pattern or herringbone!
If i stare at the screen without any physical movement the picture/graphics are pin sharp, it's only if I alter my viewing angle or scan the screen quickly with my peepers; maybe my brain just isn't sharp enough any more to de-code the data!
My exact model details are:- Aspire 5735, 4gb ram, 6400 intel core2duo, vista premium home edition.
I just updated my Acer Aspire 5735 notebook from 3gb DDR2 to 4gb DDR2. The bios now detects 4gb total as does Vista's System Page (Control Panel/System in Ultimate 64bit)
However when i go to task manager/performance my total physical memory shows up as 3000MB and the Physical Memory Usage graph seems to reflect this 3gb total.
Is there something I need to do to get vista to detect and utilise the 4gb total?
been working fine for about 2wks now.. and today she fired it up and it has a black screen.. she can get into bios but has no idea what she is doing ..she claims that she did nothing different and was working fine when she shut it down yesterday..

I havent used it (but it was working originally)and when I did want to use it I received the message "camera not found". In Device Manager there is no heading for Imaging Devices. I have downloaded updated drivers but the problem seems to be recognising the hardware.
As with all things it is just out of warranty!
I have an Acer 5735 laptop that I have used to access the internet wirelessly in the past on other networks without issue. I recently bought a TRENDnet TEW-637AP and plugged it into the back of my wireless router. I am getting a good signal and I am connecting to the network according to Vista but I cannot get it to load a web page to save my life. This hasn't been an issue in the past on other networks.

Acer call it to be a new laptop but the specs are identical, I've checked the acer site and its all the same other than the bio-security. Can anyone else explain the differences? Is the 5738 a better chassis etc because I can't tell why the 5738 is more expensive other than blu-ray etc, which my model won't have.
Both are Centrino 2 laptops as well.
Should I just go with the 5735. Anyone have any good experiences of using the 5735 laptop? Strong, quick and reliable?
I've got an offer to buy a 5738 with a 250HD for £419 and a 5735 with a 500HD for £440.
Other than the hard drive and the fact that the 5738 is newer, which would you go for?
I recently bought an Acer Aspire 5720-4516 and started having some problems with it. I just fixed the Wireless connection problem thanks to a fellow member's suggestion ( the card was out of place), so now I'm going to address the camera problem.
Calling the Acer company, they gave me a bunch of useless information, albeit very politely, and led me in a wild goose chase. Not only that, but the drivers they had in their US page were slightly all over the place. But I digress, the camera was working fine for a few weeks after I bought the laptop, then just as easily, it wasn't opening up as it should. I downloaded drivers like crazy, and still nothing happens. The Acer Crystal Eye program opens and the 'booth' like setup is fine just as it was originally, but the space where the image is doesn't show up. After a few more tries of trying to access the program, it would just not load and it would tell me to search for the latest drivers once more. I would download the latest ones and still nothing.
I wonder if other people have had the same complications as me. Anyone have any suggestions? How can I check if the device is actually active in my computer, because I've tried looking for a way to tell and nothing comes up.
I just bought a new Acer 5735-4624 aspire model. It comes with Vista and of course I'm looking to move back to Xp. Only thing is I cant find any support drivers anywhere. Even on the Acer site--the friggin model is not even listed. I know it's new and all---but!
I have an e-mail in to Acer support but I already know about their famous support woes.
Anyone have an idea so I can move to little ol' XP?

I just bought an acer 5735z and with the intel 4500mhd and it wont even start any games at all, it always goes to a black screen.
I've updated the graphics drivers and still the same black screen, I've tried call of duty 4 and 3dmark 05 and they both do exactly the same thing it just won't run them

My Acer Aspire 6935 has a buit-in webcam (064e a_117 in device manager) which is perfectly running according to the device manager (no yellow mark), but still can't be found by the Acer Crystal eye software in Vista. Same problem in msn or vlc.
I've installed a multiboot with xp and same problem in xp.
I've tried using the latest driver, but it's a generic windows driver, so it's the latest one.
I've tried using a specific driver, I've found one in the Asus website. It's a driver for the 64e a_117 according to the *.inf file, and now the webcam is recognized as USB 2.0 UVC HD webcam. But still not found in msn or vlc. And still fully working according to the device manager.
yesterday, i've opened the lcd cover to unplug and replug the device physically. But nothing special, it keeps saying that it's not found.
So my question is :
What can i try now to fix this webcam ?
I forgot to say that the webcam was really working two weeks ago, and windows restore didn't help.
One of the OEM memory modules took a hike, so I replaced both modules with a Corsair 2x2gb DDR2 800MHz kit.
Did the Alt-F10 and got Vista back.
While deleting all the bloat-ware I was prompted to make the Recovery Disk.
I went ahead and made the Recovery Disk after deleting all the game stuff.
After all that business I went ahead and finished deleting the NTI back up 5 and a couple other things.
Now I am in the process of installing the downloaded .exe SP2 for Vista and will jump online and do some other Microsoft updates (Defender, Explorer 8) the usual stuff.
Can I make another set of restore disk that will have all the updates and all that buiness? Or is the restore disk option just for when you first start using the system?
Recently done a clean install of W7 so lost most of my acer applications (god is it hard to find them) and was having trouble finding the Crystal eye programme. Does anyone have any knowledge of where i could find a version that works with my model (6930g, W7 home prem 32) and will record video, the version i installed when i got w7 only let me take pictures?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new OTB acer aspire 5520, and on initial booting everything worked sweetly but when i am trying to access my crystal eye cam on YM or any IM programs it says the webcam is not connected, Now I checked device manager and there is no webcam, so i installed the driver from the erecovery management tool I tried first the BISON driver and utility without success upon installation the program says the computer should display a "found new hardware" message, but nothing showed up. then when it restarted my machine and when i checked on device manager still no cam... next i uninstalled the BISON driver and installed the 2nd one (SUYIN) with the same results. I searched the support and download section of ACER online and tried a third driver the CHICONY and still the same results.. Finally i re installed my system to full factory default and re tried everything still the same problems...

I tried downloading multiple drivers but none of them work (no webcam detected). Another thing is that i dont have an "Imaging Devices" section in my device manager. I've recently formatted my laptop so maybe the driver was deleted or something... I hadn't used my webcam before so i don't know if it had worked back then.

I noticed that my Crystal Eye webcam doesn't have the recording button and the HD resolution selection is missing. My only choices are 320 x 240 and 640 x 480.
I am using the latest Crystal Eye driver.
I have an Aser Aspire 5610 - 2328. The model is 5610z. I have the same issue with my webcam and it is orbicam with logitech software. I also here the unplugging sound and also get BSOD's. My laptop is under warranty and it has been sent in to be checked. They could not find any issues also when I click the orbicam icon first try it shows it disconnected. I try again it works. They still claim its working and nothing they can do they have also seen what it doese when clicking on the icon and still claim its working.
Not sure if they really checked the connections I will look into it. It is under warranty thru Wal-Mart and was sent to a place called Cyber Test in Longwood Florida.
I bought an Acer Aspire 4720, installed Windows XP and Linux Ubuntu. On XP, I can see the webcam working as a USB device, but I don't have any software to make it "do" something other than showing my ugly face.
I need to record, shoot some still images, and being able to video chatting (i.e. msn messenger).
What software can I use? Do I need something else (driver)?
The webcam is working, but has no software to handle it.
