I have been looking into purchasing a desktop replacement laptop and the 8930g seemed to be exactly what i was after.
However due to the fact that the laptop has been out for quite some time now i was concerned a successor would come out within the next 1-2 months for a similar amount of money.
I tried searching for an 8940, as the 8920 was first and then the 8930, i have found no 40 but i have found a press release for a recently announced 8935:

There is very little information available in english about this model atm on google but obviously i would like to know if this is going to be the successor for the 8930 and whether it is worth waiting for this model to come out with what i presume to be superior specifications.
What i am actually holding out for though is a graphics card option that would be higher than then 9700 option found within the 8930.
Anyway, i was hoping other people might know something about this 8935 and if it was indeed the follow-up to the 8930 or that perhaps it is unrelated to it and i may as well just proceed with the 8930 purchase now.
I have an Aspire 8930 with Bluray Player.
Using the Acer Arcade software I can play DVD perfectly, however when I play BD the playback is jerky.
I have just updated the software to the latest version.
Has anyone else experienced this, or know how I can improve the playback?
i am having some issues with the performance of my game. I have heard issues with the Epower causing slow downs with the frame rate and thought i would ask here if people had some suggestions.
Running the settings at full and only getting about 15fps tops. I have only seen it at 24fps once and it wasn't after playing with settings.
I know i am not giving much info at the moment but will post any extra info needed. heck if there is another thread i could not find that would be quite helpful too.
Just did a windows experience check and graphics seems to be the lowest at 4.3 if that means much....
Newest update if anyone is paying attention. I am plugged in and i swap it to balance power plan and now i am getting 32fps. why would it do that...
Had my Acer Aspire 8930 for 11 months now and I've always assumed it displayed images at 1920 x 1080 because of the blu ray drive and the fact it has a sticker on the front of the laptop which says 'FULL HD 1080 PLAYBACK'.
I've just gone into my display settings and it says 1680 x 945!
That is on the highest setting possible.
The sticker on the side of the box it came in says;
Aspire 8930G - 584G32Bn which according to [url] states at the top in the summary it boasts 1920 x 1080.
How can the sticker on my laptop claim full HD at 1080? Do I have the wrong screen on my laptop or am I missing something?
I bought my Aspire notebook a few weeks ago and after messing around with Vista I decided to replace Vista with XP. But since then I can't get the sound working the way it did before I formated. I tryed everything including driver replacement, update, and even installing the Vista HD 889 sound drivers but still nothing. Everytime I ran a sound file only the left front and back speakers are working 100% the rest work roughly around 20%.

While filling out the information for my operating system, it randomly decided to BSOD on me, loading the dump information then going to a black screen. Now when I turn it off and try to turn it on, the hard drive doesnt click on or even blink the little display, neither does the screen flicker on.
This ones just a small problem. My webcam works fine, but it's missing on the menu and i can't locate it anywhere in my files so it's just a bit annoying if i want to make a video. It's not even in the manual (printed or computer version). It took three weeks before it appeared in the menu after I bought the laptop, but since I had to restore to factory default and god knows where it is, as i say it's only a minor problem, no location in services. and when i expand my Acer menus theres nothing there either.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a new OTB acer aspire 5520, and on initial booting everything worked sweetly but when i am trying to access my crystal eye cam on YM or any IM programs it says the webcam is not connected, Now I checked device manager and there is no webcam, so i installed the driver from the erecovery management tool I tried first the BISON driver and utility without success upon installation the program says the computer should display a "found new hardware" message, but nothing showed up. then when it restarted my machine and when i checked on device manager still no cam... next i uninstalled the BISON driver and installed the 2nd one (SUYIN) with the same results. I searched the support and download section of ACER online and tried a third driver the CHICONY and still the same results.. Finally i re installed my system to full factory default and re tried everything still the same problems...

I tried downloading multiple drivers but none of them work (no webcam detected). Another thing is that i dont have an "Imaging Devices" section in my device manager. I've recently formatted my laptop so maybe the driver was deleted or something... I hadn't used my webcam before so i don't know if it had worked back then.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Aser Aspire 5610 - 2328. The model is 5610z. I have the same issue with my webcam and it is orbicam with logitech software. I also here the unplugging sound and also get BSOD's. My laptop is under warranty and it has been sent in to be checked. They could not find any issues also when I click the orbicam icon first try it shows it disconnected. I try again it works. They still claim its working and nothing they can do they have also seen what it doese when clicking on the icon and still claim its working.
Not sure if they really checked the connections I will look into it. It is under warranty thru Wal-Mart and was sent to a place called Cyber Test in Longwood Florida.
I bought an Acer Aspire 4720, installed Windows XP and Linux Ubuntu. On XP, I can see the webcam working as a USB device, but I don't have any software to make it "do" something other than showing my ugly face.
I need to record, shoot some still images, and being able to video chatting (i.e. msn messenger).

I've got problem with my webcam. She worked well when I had got linux Fedora 9 and preinstalled MS Windows Vista. Later I changed Vista 32 bit on Vista 64 bit and I long didn't used the webcam. Later I updated my bios under MS Windows Vista x64 (to v1.19 earlier I had got v1.15). One day I wanted to make a foto with webcam but with no success because Suyin application say Camera not found. Webcam "Vendor ID" is 0c45 and "Product ID" is 63e0. These values indicate on Sonix Webcam but I'am sure that I've got Suyin Webcam and that before I had corect Vendor ID and Product ID for Suyin Webcam. I want to add that i have tried to downgrade to older bios but it makes no difference. I want my Webcam back.

I recently bought an acer v3 371 and was looking forward to using the webcam. For the first few days it was fine quality but then suddenly, possibly after an update of some sort, the quality went down and now it looks really terrible. I tried many things such as refreshing the computer back to default settings, installing various camera programs (I was using the standard camera that came with windows 8.1) such as Acer Crystal Eye but changing the resolution in these makes no difference at all to the terrible quality.
I look in device manager and it just seems to be a generic device 'HD Webcam' and the driver is from 2006, this seems to be the default one that windows selects but there must be a better one, I can't find it anywhere though. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device several times but again no effect. I don't know exactly what the webcam is, because if you go to Acer's actual website to look for driver updates they list all of them EXCEPT the webcam drivers.

I can run Call Of Duty 5 smooth in 5 minutes, but then it begins to slow down for some reason. I have tried different graphic-settings and Resouloution with no luck. I have heard in some other threads that Vista 64-bit would help?

In the Acer Power-Management I have set it to High Performance, and Maximum CPU and Graphics Settings. I have also set the NVIDIA graphics driver to Performance.
I have also tried to set it on balanced.
It lags most of the games that I play. (Left 4 Dead, CoD5, GRID etc.)
Anyone seen files for this yet. Want to use it for my 8920 to enable the new wifi link cards since they have locked the bios.

Isn't that a bit low? I thought the points should be somewhere 5500-6500. My NVIDIA drivers are currently 180.70, maybe i should change those? What about Vista 32bit? Never had a vista before, is there something i should turn off/disable/remove in order to make my computer faster? For now i've only removed some of the useless software that came with the computer and changed the firewall McAfee to Comodo.
That battery usage was on "best performance"
I can watch blue ray on my 8930g with no probs using latest version of arcade deluxe.
But when i connect it to a Samsung LCD tv via HDMI it says the display driver is incompatible despite the fact that the desktop show on the tv fine as does any other app.
I have been using this for a few months, no problems.
Suddenly today every time I select to play a movie the screen displays a white page with a message saying it cannot connect to the Internet.
