I am having a problem when connecting my Aspire 5750G to my TV through my HDMI cable. Previously, I have always been able to go into Manage Audio Devices to choose the HDMI option but today that option has disappeared. Nothing has changed with my TV or my cable and all of my video and audio drivers are up to date.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug the computer into my Philips HDTV via the HDMI cable (a cable I know is perfectly good and undamaged), the video pops right up onto the TV. The edges are cut off but I know why that is.
The audio is another matter. The TV says it doesn't have any audio coming in, at all. So I check the Sound applet under Control Panel, to see what it's got to say. Under Sound, I see three devices:
Speakers - RealTek High Definition Audio (this is the computer's built-in speaker)
NVIDIA HDMI Out - NVIDIA High Definition Audio
Realtek Digital Output - Realtek High Definition Audio
The default is the speakers, and when I plug in the HDMI cable the computer automatically switches to the nVidia HDMI out. When I play something out (I've tried both Winamp and Windows Media Player), the VU meter next to the selected device bounces up and down as if there's sound playing. Yet, despite the volume being near maximum on the TV, there's no sound.
I've tried switching from the nVidia option to the RealTek option. I've tried restarting. I've tried updating the drivers to all the current versions. Nothing works. This is a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installation.
I'm having an issue extending my display via an external monitor (Samsung 23inch). I’m using a 5750G with GT 540M and Intel HD 3000 that uses Nvidia Optimus technology. It's the i7 2360QM version. So it's a second gen HD 3000 I believe.
I can't seem to run 2 displays at once.. like if I connect an external monitor via the VGA or the HDMI.. I can use that monitor on it's own (while the laptop screen is disabled) just fine.. but the moment I try to duplicate displays or extend my desktop across two monitors.. the intel driver crashes...
The Intel driver keeps crashing and recovering every 2 seconds until the whole PC blue screens. (VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE - igdkmd64.sys) This is when windows is trying to run both monitors at once. If I quickly press Win+P and set it to a single display, it’s fine.
I can output to the external monitor (show desktop only on 2), via both VGA and HDMI and the laptop screen is off. This works fine, even at 1080p.
I can also output to the laptop screen only (show desktop only on 1), and the external monitor is off.
If I choose "duplicate", only the laptop screen works... But it drops down to a low res (1024x768)... However, in the Multiple Displays setting dropdown... “Duplicate” is no longer selected... and it’s now set to “Show desktop only on 1”. If I try change to duplicate again… both monitors go blank.
If I try to extend these displays, the laptop screen stays on... the external monitor goes blank, and the laptop screen immediately starts to flick off and on... as the driver crashes and restarts. I see the little dialog box in the notification area saying “The display driver has stopped responding and has recovered.” While specifying the Intel driver.
So here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Windows 8.1 fully updated, with the latest Intel Drivers and NVidia Drivers.
Windows 7 x64 SP1 with latest Intel and NVidia drivers... as well as the old drivers that are listed on the Acer site. Each time I completely uninstalled and deleted the old drivers before installing new ones.
I’ve tried these Intel drivers:
8.15.10.2342 (Acer site)
8.15.10.2622 - 15.22.54.64.2622
9.17.10.3347 - 15.28.20.64.3347
9.17.10.3517 - 15.28.22.64.3517 (latest)
I updated the BIOS (1.21). I also went into the BIOS and changed the GPU setting from ‘Switchable” to “Integrated” which basically disabled the GT 540m, so windows doesn't even load the nvidia control panel etc.. Even with just the Intel graphics enabled... same issue.
I’ve tried adjusting power management settings to ensure that power is always at max.
I know it’s not an issue with the external monitor or cables, as they all work fine when the laptop screen is not running... Also, I tested with a Samsung LCD TV with the same issue. The monitor and cables work fine with my PC and other Laptop.
So for some reason, the Intel driver does not want to let 2 screens display at once. And the way the Optimus technology works, I don’t think I can bypass the Intel GPU and use the NVidia one alone.
I tested Win 8.1 with all latest drivers.. and win 7 with a few combinations.. like both the older intel driver + old nvida driver (the ones listed on the Acer site for this laptop).. then I tried new nvidia + a few old intel drivers one at a time.. but the issue remains..
Well few days ago accidentally I drop my laptop and after that it start become extremely slow.. I tried everything but few hours later I had no access to Window and the message 0x00000e9 again and again! I opened bios just to take a look and HDD had disappeared...I contact Acer and told them my problem.. After that I asked what HDD should I get because I'm not interest to get the same like the old one!I would like to buy a better one (More Rpm, .Capacity and Sata 3 ofc) but they told me that should I buy the same!!!
For sure the old one had failed :-(My laptop is Acer Aspire 5750G i7 and the hard driver was Toshiba MK7559GSXP 750G Sata 2 and Code KH.75004.001I would like to know if mobo can support Sata 3if I buy a new HDD different from what Acer suggest me to do or it will be a bad deal for me and my laptop can't support the new hardware?!
So after installing the new 185 drivers a couple of weeks ago, I turned on SLI, restarted, and forgot about it.
Now I just checked the nvidia panel and there is no option to turn on SLI. I went to device manager and only one 8800m gtx is listed there when there used to be 2... seems like the computer doesn't even see the second GPU.
tried reinstalling the drivers but still only one gpu is showing up...
I have an Aspire 5750G that started out with 1TB of disk space. Now it says I only have 100GB free of ca. 650 GB! How did 1TB turn into 650 GB?! I've been trying to use Nero Backitup 2014 to back up my drive to my NAS, and couldn't - I think the capacity shrinkage is why. (Nero tells me there isn't room on my laptop to update, even though I'm trying to update FROM the laptop to the NAS. I went through the procedure with Nero Support, and they couldn't find out why it was happening.) I've done a disk defrag, but still haven't regained the missing capacity.

Problem: My 1TB capacity (not usage) appears to have shrunk to 650 GB.
Program troubles: Nero Backitup 2014 can't deal with the missing capacity, even when I try clearing out my NAS and doing a repeat backup. The exact error message is: It is not possible to sync because the space is full at this location: (My C: drive) Check the space and try again.
Tried: Defragging, no luck.

After 5 minuts without additional cooler it goes overheat to 100 degree and turn off instantly.
When i turn my laptop on, the cooler starting work very good, like it should work all the time when it overheating. But after few secounds its turn into passive/silent mode and doesn't work properly till overheat and turn off again.
My problem is that when you turn on the laptop. My monitor shows no signs nor there is activity on the hard disk. I tried to remove the ram,hdd,bios battery,connect it to a tv with hdmi and still no sign of life.
I think it may be corrupt bios. Steps?

I got a thinkpad w530 with Windowd 8 from the factory and its ultrabay worked really well. I use a few SSDs in the ultrabay and used to swap through them by just ejecting the one currently in use and plugging in another one. However, since Wondows 8.1 update I haven.t been able to do so, as I have to turn off the machine and change the drives.
I believe it has something to do with the OS set up. How to enable the hot swapping capability of the ultrabay?
I'm currently having problems with my Y510p's webcam. It stopped functioning recently.... But I've already performed a OneKey Recovery and it is still disabled. When I start the YouCam software they said that there was no webcam detected and if there was I have to turn on the integrated webcam. I have also checked in Device Manager and still.... No result. The webcam isn't appearing in my Imaging Devices option.

I have setup this brand new laptop, pre-installed with Windows 8.1, for my sister-in-law who bought it. The installation went well BUT the 16GB USB device which I purchased as advised by the Acer literature to store the recovery partition was not big enough, the physical capacity being 14.4GB. The Acer book says use a 16GB device or larger so I did. I naively thought that a USB drive which was labelled 16GB would be appropriate. Not so. I have had to buy a larger one but am still awaiting delivery.
I therefore decided to image the whole HDD to save the work I had done but found that the Acronis Backup and Recovery DVD would not boot. I went into the setup utility and adjusted the Boot settings to legacy and changed device priority. Acronis would not run so I did not continue. I went back into the setup utility, used F9 to restore the default and found to my astonishment that the DUAL boot option had now disappeared and the Windows Boot option had also vanished.
This means that this £800 laptop is now unusable. The setup utility self-reconfigured without warning. Nowhere is there any advice or warning not to use the setup utility in case it erases features which cannot be recovered by using F9 to recover the default configuration. If this is not a serious design fault, I don't know what is.
I am deeply worried because the idea of a BIOS setup utility behaving this way seems so improbable. How is it that the setup utility has been designed to self-harm like this?

I have an older HP Pavilion dv 9000, with Windows 7. I was attempting to watch a video and noticed that the sound was muted. So, initially, I tried to turn it up, but it seemed locked. It had never done that before, so after several failed attempts, the mute sign disappeared and now it's just a red x, and when I go in to check it, it tells me that there is no sound hardware installed. I tried to install a new driver from your website but it is still not working.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5950G laptop and 2 weeks ago I purchased a new Asus DSL-ac68U modem router. After spending an hour on the phone with Asus getting the wretched thing set up, we are finally up and running. Last week I was asked to reboot the modem and ever since then the laptop has not been able to see any wireless devices, or if it does, they aren't the right things.
For example it may display a NAS drive but it's actually showing a playlist on the main pc, it sees a pvr but the files can't be accessed.
If I try and input the IP of the NAS it claims the user can't be authenticated, however sharing is turned on on the NAS.
I can connect to the internet wirelessly and browse to pages on the laptop with no problem but it just refuses to see the recognise the correct thing as the NAS drive and permit access to the files on the PVR.
The laptop is running Windows 7.

Just finished installing all drivers in Win XP but I can't get the HDMI audio to work.
When I go to "Control Panel" then "Sounds and Audio" and change to "NVIDIA HDMI Audio" the volumebar is down at its lowest and the entire bar is "greyed out". Also if I play some music I hear a "thumping" sound from my TV:s speakers.
The driver I am using is 1.0.0.30 taken directly from the drivercd that I burned out together with recoverydiscs so its an "orginal" Acer (although Vista) driver.
I have also tried 1.0.0.26 to no luck.
My graphic driver is 180.70 with the modded .inf from Laptopvideo2go.
The other device is "Realtek HD Audio output" and it works fine, that driver ought to be me primary audio driver if I'm not misstaken.
Acer usb ports not working anymore, but this USB port (the only one on the device) will connect the external drive but then disconnect a few minutes later (pretty much at random). It makes accessing games and my iTunes library very frustrating.

In device manager, I have NO yellow triangles with exclamation marks, when I search automatically for updates, windows says everything is up to date (see picture below) so everything seems fine and running. Bluetooth is on but after searching does not find devices (even if the phone is also on bluetooth).

I cannot get certain types of audio output through either my headphones or my onboard speakers, even though all of my speakers are functioning correctly.
My headphones are connected through a USB device and my speakers are built into the laptop. Things that will play are System Sounds, Audio Configuration Tests, and the occasional youtube video for a reason I cannot identify.
Beyond that, there is no sound output. However, I have confirmed that both my onboard speakers and my headphones are working correctly.
I have performed a reboot, am in the middle of a malware scan, and checked all of my volume controls to make sure nothing has been accidentally muted. I still have yet to try uninstalling the driver and a system restore.
The only thing that changed on my PC before the problem occurred was connecting it to a TV via HDMI cable. In that instance, all audio was correctly rerouted to the TV speakers.
I was wondering how to tell what type of memory to get for my laptop. I have an Acer Aspire 3680.

Even at 1366*768, it has problems playing downloaded HD movies so I know it will be a dog at 1920*1080, but I mostly use the laptop for real work.
