I have problems with this configuration Aspire 5810TG (ati4330) + Win7 RTM 64bit
- i dont know how to activate ATI 4330 vga (i can see it in device manager but dont know how to activate, there is no option in intel vga control pannel)
- bios version 1.28 (default from store)
- bios set "Switchable graphic - Switchable"
only installed:
- intel GS45 chipset 64bit drivers (infinst911autol.zip)
- intel GS45 vga 4 series 64bit drivers (Win7_64_15154.zip)
- ati vga drivers (ati_9-9_beta_win7_64_dd_CC.exe)
- Acer lauch manager (LaunchManager_Dritek_2.0.03_Vistax64Vistax86_A.zip)
My specs: Notebook: Acer 5810TG, 15.6" BIOS: 1.12 OS: Vista Home Premium 32bits CPU: SU9400 GPU: ATi HD4330 512MB GDDR3 + Intel 4500HD RAM: 4GB DDR3 @ 1066 HDD: 320GB HDD @ 5400RPM
My issue: Every time the laptop tries to go into sleep mode, either automatically or manually, it reboots and the "Windows Error Recovery" screen pops-up telling me that the system was improperly shut down.
Even Shutting Down the laptop gets me this error.
Hibernate and Restart seem to work normally though...
Also, the screen sometimes goes blank when booting in Vista, though I presume this is related to the way it switches between the 2 GPUs.
I didn't install any extra apps... just what it came with.
I running a z690 with win7, and my blu ray drive isn't visibile, don't have the correct driver for the Mata bd-mlt uj232as, and the z590 driver from sony's site won't install because its not a z5-series. Any advice? or anyone have the driver from there Vista64bit?
If anyone is curious, Windows7 is really smooth and quick compared to the Vista64bit, and only running 60 processes after everything got installed.
I've got brand new Latitude E4300 and I decided to install Win7 64bit in order not to upgrade after I install all my software onto Vista. But I cannot get the LCD backlight control get to work.
In BIOS the settings work well, but in Win7 it does not. e.g. when I set in the BIOS half backlight, it works until I try to change it in Windows - it suddenly jumps to full backlight (I suppose),
but the Dell Controll Point dialog shows some 1/3 or similar. Then I'm able to change it +1 step, but it doesnt make any difference, even turning on and off the ambient light sensor doesnt make difference.
I tred to install several drivers from dell.com, but the support for Win7 64bit isnt very good. So I took some drivers from Vista 64b, and Vista 32b, but it made no difference.
SZ Series Windows 7 Clean install (32bit and 64bit)
Primarily for the SZ750, but works most other SZ models.
Yes, it's long, but it overs a lot and makes it very, very simple.
A Note about the "new" Sony utilities on their website. Don't bother, you end up with FAR less functionality than you will with this guide. Sony simply put up utilities that work with Windows7, they didn't check to see if there is a driver to allow them to work.

Status: 32bit 100% working – Use the Vista drivers and Utilities. 64bit 99.9-100% WWAN is possibly working (depends on the model, see below under “issues”)....................
I want to put Win7 on my macbook pro and plan to use it with VMWare 3 as well as for dual booting. Is it better to go with the 32bit or the 64bit version of Win7.
Im running snow leopard on the macbook now... i know Apple isnt officially supporting win7 until later this year but has anyone else had any problems running Win7 under bootcamp on snow leopard?
I bought my lenovo G460 with nvidia M310 (with hdmi) this year and have not been able to get the hdmi port to work.  I have two lcd displays one in our lab and another one at home (LG 2361V-PF) which have hdmi connections in the back.
In the beginning I was able to get my notebook to work on the display in our office. However, now both displays (work+home) are not working.  I have tried to reinstall latest nvidia drivers as of 2010-11-02 (ver. 8.16.11.8990) from lenovo, completely restore Operating system and tried different hdmi cables.  I have even tried to use original drivers and also downgrade that to a lower version all with no luck.  I have even taken my LG LCD display to the LG After Service Warranty office and have found no issues wrong with the Monitor itself.  I am sure I have taken all the trouble-shooting methods into consideration so a simple question is... Is the hdmi port defective?
I have a strange problem with Win7 (no matter if x86 or x64)...
I have 30Mbit internet connection, so I want to download some bigger files through internet during night.
I have all extra power features disabled (on CPU slowdown and screen dim and off allowed) and after few hours (sometimes 1, sometimes 4), the Windows 7 is in one of the two states:
a) when I move the mouse to wake up screen, only cursor goes up and I must restart notebook
b) when I move the mouse to wake up screen, screen goes up, but NO INTERNET CONNECTION
Must say, that it is the same with WIFI and also ETHERNET and is for sure Win7 problem, as when I install WinXP, everything is fine.
I just got an Aspire One D250 netbook. It runs Win XP SP3, but I can upgrade to Vista or Win7.
Does anybody have the Aspire One with Win7? If so, how does it behave? Should I upgrade my memory? Also, the netbook is equipped with the low end embedded Intel graphics chipset, can it hold Win7 or Vista?
I have a brand new Acer Aspire 5536. It came pre-installed with Vista which I have repalced with Windows 7. I did a clean install, first formatting the hard drive.
The boot process takes 7-10 minutes before the login screen appears. Once logged in the sysrtem appears to be working fine. I have re-instaslled multiple times (using different disks) but no matter what I try it takes an age to boot.
Could my laptop be faulty - does anyone else have Win7 running on one these?
I have a big issue with my Acer Aspire 5739G laptop that I recently purchased through Ebay. Actually, I bought it from Newegg dba Fred's Fresh Deals. (Newegg sells their returned items and cosmetically damaged goods under this name on Ebay). The laptop was advertised as a possible hard drive issue (it couldn't load windows and the error code looked like a boot sector virus, so I purchased it thinking a simple reformat will fix it).
Specs:
CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2G Screen 15.6" Memory Size 4GB DDR3 7200RPM Hard Disk 320GB Optical Drive DVD Super Multi Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M Video Memory 1GB Communication Modem, Gigabit LAN and WLAN CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo CPU Speed T6600(2.20GHz) CPU FSB 800MHz CPU L2 Cache 2MB Chipset Chipset Intel PM45 Display Screen Size 15.6" Wide Screen Support Yes Resolution 1366 x 768 LCD Features LED backlight & Acer CineCrystal Technology Operating Systems Operating System Windows 7
Anyways...
After I did a fresh reformat of the hard drive and a fresh install of Windows 7, the laptop freezes/locks up after 10-30mins on the desktop. I cannot move the mouse or anything, so I have to do a hard reboot. I don't understand how it is happening.
I updated the mobo's Phoenix driver to the latest one, and tried older VGA Nvidia drivers because I thought it might be a video card driver issue; It is still locking up. I went as far as to purchase a brand new laptop hard drive and the problem still arises. There is no BSOD. As noted earlier, the computer just simply freezes. I cleared CMOS....240M GT VGA is running factory settings....I tried leaving only 1 ram stick in the laptop. I never ran through a problem like this before.
I ran it on Safe Mode and the computer seems to be working fine as long as I do simple tasks or remain idle. I did the SFC /SCANNOW in safe mode and it locks up. I attached my event view file to this email. (I tried to install RivaTuner to underclock factory settings, but the program could not load).
I have an Aspire 6930G and I used Vista 32bit for some time without any problems but I decided to try Windows 7 64bit and everything went fine except the sound. I downloaded the drivers for this version of windows straight from the Acer site (Realtek version 6.0.1.5888) and the sound is fine almost every time but sometimes it goes all weird and starts making a lot of noise. I've tried to delete all the sound drivers from device manager and installing them again and it happens just the same thing after a while.
I have Windows Vista 64bit on my Acer Aspire 7520-5311, I thought I had upgraded all my drivers, but I NEVER use my dvdrom drive...
Well I have ordered a dvd that I really need to use on my computer and it won't work at all... I looked in Device Manager and it shows "HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA DEVICE" and "YPY EN81IZS SCSI CdRom Device" and they both say "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be currupted or missing."
I went to the Acer Europe website for 7520 [url] and I dont see DVDROM drivers under the 64bit column.
I'm strugling since 2 weeks with my brand new Acer Aspire E5-471-52B6 which has touchpad issues... Â Symptoms: some times (this is very erratic) the touchpad freezes. Â I'm not trying to run a different OS on the machine: I use the Windows 8.1 64-bit that comes with the machine. Â I've downloaded and reinstalled the drivers (Intel Chipset, Intel serial IO, Synaptics Touchpad, Elantech Touchpad) from Support & Service web site... Â And finally I've done a full system restore. Â The touchpad responds is still erratic. What is weird is that the touchpad is shown as an HID mouse in the Windows Device Management (and not as a Synaptic or Elantech touchpad). Â An external USB mouse works fine. What should I try now?
I am using the Acer eRecovery discs (Windows 7 64 bit) on my Aspire V3-571. On multiple attempts at a recovery the process hangs at Step 41 of 60 when trying to load the OOBE (Out Of Box Experience) file. A second set of discs provided by Acer produces the same results. I have an extra 1TB WD SATA HD that I have swapped into the laptop for troubleshooting purposes. No joy there. The recovery process appears to run normally until it stalls at Step 41. It has hung at that point for an hour with nothing happening.
It's really annoying that I have to sign in with my password every single time my computer wakes up and/or restarts, etc. Is there a way to bypass that initial password when I'm the only one that uses the computer? It's an Aspire V5 572P 4824, Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Recently I developed this simple application that lets you easily configure CineDash and other buttons functions on Acer laptops. This application, “Acer CineDash Config”, is mainly for mine purposes.
I tested it on my Acer 6935G and Windows 7 64bit version. It probably should work on other models and systems to.
Some of the features that Acer CineDash Config supports are: •32bit and 64bit systems •Configuring applications to run and captions for buttons:oArcade DeluxeoEmpowering tech.oInternetoE-Mail•Making and restoring registry backup •Enabling media keys to work with other programs, like winamp, and restoring original key mapping file
I bought myself the acer 8930 which has 32 bit vista
I know vista doesn't use part of the ram but my question was, does it really make a performance change to reckon with?
Also a few friends of me told me that my processor would not be supported very well by 64bit What's up with that? They say I need a 64 bit processor although many people here on the forum seem to do a clean install on models which have the same processor as mine
I just got this laptop (windows vista home premium 64bit) from newegg yesterday and I was wondering why in the task manger and the processes tab, most of the problems end with "*32".
For example: firefox.exe *32 pidgin.exe *32 Steam.exe *32
I have never used Vista 64 bit before and I was wondering if something is wrong.
I was having problems keeping the IE page fully maximised each time I opened a new page.
To correct this, I would expand the borders of the page to the size I wanted by clicking and dragging them. Then not exiting the page by clicking on the "X", but by going to main menu and selecting File then "Exit". This system had worked with XP IE and also with Vista IE but did not work for Win 7 IE.
This works: Right click on Desktop IE icon, select Properties.
In the window that opens, the "Target" is highlighted. Delete that and insert "C:Program FilesInternet Exploreriexplore.exe". Insert the quotes as well.
Does the 4gb version of the 8930g come with Vista 32 or Vista 64 , as if it`s Vista 32 you will only be able to access 3gb of memory.
Now to my point, I have been looking at the free Windows 7 upgraded, but the Acer FAQ says if your notebook comes with Vista32 you will only get a Windows 7 -32bit upgrade.
For the past 5 months that ive owned m laptop, i have been running the Windows 7 RC.
However, given that i will be leaving the country for the next four months (during which time my RC license will expire) i did a clean install to an RTM (retail) copy of windows 7 ultimate 64 a few days ago. Since then, ive noticed some bothersome issues:
battery life is fluctuating heavily, and the predictions are nowhere near as high as they used to be (with the win7 RC i got 7 hours or so in practical use)
the Launch Manager software is not really working, when i unplug i dont see the battery logo come up on screen like i used to when i unplug, and instead get random changes in brightness and beep sounds when nothing seems to be happening (i think thats related to the optical drive management software) the other touch buttons, like wifi do show a logo on screen when clicked, but the battery button does not.
in the time i have spent writing this post, the battery indicator has predicted 5 hours, 5 hours 30 min, 7 hours 30 min, and 6 hours, all between 85 and 83%. i know it fluctuates some because its calculated based on usage, but this is way more than it ever did before.
in addition i cant install the VGA drivers from acer because it says my computer doesnt meet the minimum specs when i try to install.
