Acer Aspire 7739, Win7, 64-bit.
Microsoft Update returns an error that the update service is not running. I check the services, and see that it is running.
I downloaded the SATA drivers (Rapid Storage Technology, I think). The setup returns an error not found in the ini file??
How can I get the Microsoft Update running again?

Every time I add my Microsoft account I get a message saying please wait that doesn't go away after putting my password in. I end up having to delete my account and create a new one without an email attached. I've tried to link them multiple times, but the same thing keeps happening.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on Windows 7 64 bit and the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery device is causing my Aspire E5-551 to freeze. If I enable the device and I try to run my laptop on battery it freezes, but when it's disabled I can run on battery perfectly fine.
Now I don't mind having it disabled since it fixes the problem but when I disable it then I have no way of telling how much is left of my battery.
This is a brand new laptop, a little over a month old so I haven't done any damage to it. I sent it in to get fixed but when I received it back from the Acer repair center all they did was re-install windows which did actually fix the problem for about a week but the problem came back.
I did have 10 updates that failed to install for some reason. The error code for all of these is the same (80240054) but I don't get any results on the MS site for that code.

I don't use IE and it's obviously not a Surface Pro... Why Bluetooth would go away?? My computer also ended up in Airplane Mode for some reason, but I turned that off. On the Network Window under Wireless Devices, Bluetooth shows as Off and is grayed out...
Today, I turned on my laptop to discover that the audio was not working. I have tried updating the drivers, restarting the computer, and trying the default repair tool, but nothing has worked so far.
I have the Lenovo Z50
I signed into my laptop as usual and realized the sound had stopped working for me and i believe i didn't change any settings.
It is saying that the audio service isn't running and then when i right click and then click onto playback to devices it says i don't have any.
I've tried most of the adive on the internet such as device manager (says i have them and they're fine), uninstalling the driver and reinstalling and using a system restore point to before my most recent update. These have resulted in no change to the situation.
I also tried starting the windows audio service on the services and it failed and came up with error 1068.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to know how to get the memory cover off. Even after removing the four screws it acts like one corner near the indent by the RAM icon is snapped into it or glued down. The cover is huge, over half the bottom of the case.
I'm also interested in upgrading the 1.73 Ghz Celeron M 530 if it's possible. Eventually I plan to upgrade the DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive to a DVD burner, so the manual will be handy for that too.

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5515 Laptop. Has a built in Wireless card. It detects the hotspots with no problem. It connects to the available networks with no problem. But it will not connect to any internet service. Strange, but that is also what trouble shooter says. Connects to network, but not to internet, thus browser cannot resolve to any URL.
I even disabled firewall to see if it would help, but it will not.
Even has issues trying to network at home using ethernet cards. Detects, but will not connect.
I have an acre aspire 5535. I cannot login and keep going round in circles with the message which says "the user profile service failed to login. User profile cannot be loaded". I have switched off and opened again but no change.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought this new acer 3680 1 month ago because i needed a laptop for my studying. basicly all i need it for is to take notes from classes, and surf the web (youtube etc).
ok so basicly the first impression with preinstalled vista was horrible. incredible lag... 3 seconds delay at all times when browsing the web. and completely unable to playback any form of media with any other windows open without the sound lagging like crazy... all that kind of stuff
but the main problem seems to be the fan. It runs at high speed (producing as much noise as my desktop computer). The fan turns on aprroximately 4 minutes after you turn on your computer, or immediately after you open an application.. and it just keeps on running untill you turn off your computer... It is so annoying that i have trouble bringing the computer to class (which is where i really need it!) because i feel embarrased about the noise, and frankly i think this is an annoyance to the other students aswell. Is this a common problem with 3680? No one of the other students pc's fans run when they just use basic applications like word, or internet explorer, and they certainly dont do it when simply idling on the desktop.
furthermore it needs to be said that i have messed around with vista alot, and tweaked it in every possible way to remove pressure of the cpu.. and ofc removed all antivirus programs etc. Furthermore i tried installing XP, and guess what.... it took 5 mins of idling on the desktop in the brand newly installed xp for the fan to start again!!! so i conclude that the problem is not caused by vista overloading the cpu!. Does anyone else have this problem with their aspire 3680? maybe im just overly sensitive about the noise, but really it isnt supposed to run at all times.
Bought this notebook on Oct.30/14. Used it this past Friday; was working fine. Plugged it in for the night and the next day, I noticed the fan was running and I wasn't able to boot it. It won't shut off using the power button on side. The only way to shut it off was by using a paper clip on the reset on the bottom of the notebook.

It originally came with Visa but I downgraded to XP and had been using it without problems for awhile. It started getting a little slow so I recently installed (and soon after uninstalled) a bunch of optimizing / driver updating programs. After playing around with those, my laptop is running super slow... I can't watch videos, the buffer causes it to just show the image while the audio plays... After running Dr. Hardware it looks like my CPU is only running at 800mhz which is a lot slower than it used to.

1. Have used "Crucial" to see what they recommend. Would an upgrade work straight off and be recognised correctly or are any BIOS changes needed. Never entered the BIOS yet!
2. What sort of gains could I reasonably expect. The biggest slowdown I have is with FSecure and certain webpages ( Forums etc ) where the system can freeze now and then.
Would more RAM help here. Resource monitor shows FSecure as the culprit hogging the HDD. Start up from cold for the desktop to fully appear is around 3+ minutes with a further 3 or 4 minutes of pretty hard HDD thrashing when things are a bit unresponsive.
