I have a Acer E5-511 model and I need to install win 7 on it.But when we change the mode from uefi to legacy and reboot the system ,auto no display coming .Only display came in uefi mode.
View 1 RepliesI have two aspire one running XP and one is very slow. I switched the HD and the problem remains with the notebook. I did upgrade the BIOS to the latest one, no change.
What I found is that the ATA/ATAPI controller is set to MODE PIO on the slow notebook and I cannot change it to ULTRA DMA. When I change the driver to the right one then at startup I need to get back to the previous correct configuration as oit will not load windows..
I have a HP Pavilion dv6700t and I'm looking in the bios to set the the sata controller to legacy mode so I can secure erase my SSD. Trouble is there's nothing there to do it. Question is, does anyone know how to set the controller to legacy mode?

The display doesnt wake up inspite of updating the graphic drivers and BIOS. I checked the settings on the power management still no response.
Everytime i have to wake up the laptop screen i have to long press the power button and restart the laptop.
I have Windows 8.1 updated.
Just purcased Aspire E1-510-2611 - 64 bit, Windows 8.1 - as it was set up in store as display model it appears to be in "Display Mode" - with account already entered, etc. How do I reset to factory defaults so that when I turn it on it is just like turning it on for the first time or is there a better way to get back to the "just out of the box" condition?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Acer Aspire E5-511P with bios Insydeh20. On UEFI it does boot USB-drive, even with passwords set. It boots on USB-drive with legacy set, but now my Wifi doesn't work. On older laptops no issues with UEFI, I just had to set boot order. And Wifi works just fine.

I've been having this problem since I received the notebook from Dell last March.
When the notebook goes into standby or hybernation mode, upon awaking, the screen becomes unreadable. The screen looks like a fractal image, swirling spirals and squares of colors.
When the box comes up that says 'This computer is locked' you can't type in the username or password lines and I have to push the power button and restart the notebook everytime after stand by or hybernation mode is used
Inspiron N4110 When I shut the lid it enters sleep mode. Until now when I would open lid and push the power button it wakes up. Now it does nothing and I have to hold power button down to force shutdown then restart.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my laptop from the 8920g to the 8930.
My only gripe with the 8930 is that there seems to be alot more backlight leakage in this model. Not so much around the edges (a thin line along the bottom but I guess that seems to be the case with most displays) but more streaks down the middle. Quite noticable if watching a movie on it at night.
What I am trying to do is change the brightness/contrast etc.. settings. I go in to the nvidia control panel settings and can adjust the bars up/down but nothing on the display changes. I can put everything on 0% but it still looks exactly the same. I click the apply button, even try a reboot but still no joy. Is there another way to do this or is my graphic card faulty? I've only had the laptop about a week.
Also, does anyone have any recommended display settings?
I have Aspire 7520 with xp OS. It has weird sound problem. Sound is not coming from speaker but when I plug in my headphone it does, but that too is very distorted. It was working fine previously both speaker and headphone. I dont know what went wrong? "Audio_Relatek_5.1" drivers are currently installed.
I've also checked sound setting they are perfectly fine.
Can I adjust the brightness to maximum value or any value when in stamina mode on the Z ?

The external display works and all other components seem to function properly.
I'd like to change the CPU in my Acer Aspire 5534. It has a 1.2g AMD dual core at present with 4g memory. It's a nice refurbished machine I didn't pay much for. Came with W7 64.
Video is a little jerky. Would like to change CPU if possible. I'm proficient with that type thing.

I've recently bought an HP Probook430 and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and I don't seem to be able to change the display brightness, using the fn button+f9/f10 (although volume settings are changed in the same method smoothly).
Although the brightness settings don't seem to change, this bar does appear when pressing fn+f9/f10. What should I do in order to make the display brightness settings changable?

I have a problem with my laptop, is an acer aspire 5672wmli, the model with 1gb of ram.
The drive is a Matsushita UJ-845-S, when it was new it had a firmware version 1.00 and they gave me some incompatible problems with some media, so i decided to flash with a newer version, 1.02 and after that the drive work well but I was unable to did the boot from cd.

The firmware 1.02 is for toshiba OEM and this is why it give me this problem.
So now wath I can do, I send an email to acer-support but they want only that i send to acer but i must pay because is my fault .
My question is, I see some internal dvd drivers for notebook to buy, so I can buy one and replace with my?.
All internal drives can work fine if I replace or i must see some technical caractheristics?

The problem is that I don't like Win Vista at all and I want to change it to Win XP.
But most of the drivers I found online are ONLY for Win Vista so I'm not sure if those drivers will work correctly on Win XP.
I've been losing date and time recently. I update files, then take them home on a USB flash drive and they appear to be older than what's at home. Turns out my date and time are maintaining. I have to reset date and time when I boot up now. Pretty sure I need to swap out the CMOS battery (maybe a CR2032?) how to find it once the case is opened?

I have run memory and gpu tests showing good results.
Thinking I need to change allocated share of RAM in BIOS up from 128. Cannot access that field. Cannot find internet solution to get to that field. Thinking perhaps setting it to 256 or 512. Do not game on this computer. Do not do heavy post processing of images. Do multi task.
Is this intermittent shutdown of the display a known issue?
whenever it goes into standby after about 20 minutes I can't get it out of standby. The wifi light is on and the system green light is on but nothing will wake it from its slumber. I was considering just turning off standby mode because I have to reboot the system whenever this happens. My aunts aspire one also does this so it would be helpful to get this figured out.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy brother just bought an Acer Aspire 3680.He purchased 1 gig of DDR2 Memory from Crucial. When we get to the desktop the screen is fine at first then the screen goes off and back on with 8 bit display. 512 DDR2 came in the machine. Crucial site said he could mix memory sizes. I tried it with the 1 gig stick by itself in case the mixed memory was the problem. Same thing..I've tried 2 sticks of 512...same thing. I've tried 2 sticks of 1 gig each..same problem. This laptop won't allow any upgrade at all. Will only run correctly with (1) 512 stick. I've never seen this problem before. I've installed many memory sticks in computers. This is a first for me. What could be causing this?? Any advice would be appreciated. BTW. the computer shows the upgrade amount of memory but the display color keeps changing to 8 Bit! I change it back to 32 and it reverts back after a few moments to 8 Bit. I went to Acer and installed an updated driver for the Intel Graphics card thinking the driver would help. I haven't installed a bios update yet. Called Acer and they said to return it for repair.

I did this with my Travelmate 2480-2153 and have been very please with it. I have the Vista CD that I can upgrade to when I feel that there won't be difficulites with a couple of my programs and now the better half is wondering is this can be done with the newly acquired Aspire.
I own a 3.5 years old Acer Aspire 5742G (Core i3 M380; NVIDIA540M). the heat sink or the collinig fan might have some issue as it usually gets overheated when playing games (even CS condition zero/1.6). I don't play games anymore, so its not a problem.
The problem is that I am unable to adjust the screen brightness from the keyboars shortcut (Fn+ Left/Right arrow key), neither from the control panel (Power Settings).
Although I do noticed something that, if I change my brightness settings (nothing happens) and I close the laptop lid (display screen) by folding it down and openeing it back after 3-4 seconds, the brightness is now changed.
