I have a Dell XPS13 purchased a couple of months ago, this morning the when I started the latop the display is not working. I can see the backlight comming up when I boot it but nothing else.
The external display works and all other components seem to function properly.
I have a Acer E5-511 model and I need to install win 7 on it.But when we change the mode from uefi to legacy and reboot the system ,auto no display coming .Only display came in uefi mode.

But suddenly its setting got changed and the picture is coming like any image without contrast (very Greeny). I trued several time to install and uninstall. View 3 Replies View Relatedi just replaced the previously matte chi mei display on my hp compaq 8510p gb967ea (WSXGA+), with a brand new lg-philips glossy one (both certified for my notebook, of course) and for the first time ever on that notebook (ie. first time since its acquisition summer 2008) i experience backlight issues now.
just like on my very old nx9030 (which happened twice while under warranty, so its been repaired for free, and then once after the warranty period), the backlight keeps turning off by itself or when touching the lid or typing a bit heavier. so i have to close the lid and open it again to make it turn on again!
i watched out for all the cables within the frame and the one going into the inverter board, so none should be squeezed or so.
shall i open it again and look for a specific cable, jack or something like that, whether something is being squeezed?
my laptop screen backlight goes off, when I rest my hand on the left side of the touchpad. The darkening of the screen can be also reproduced when a small pressure is applied on the case just above the ethernet port or above the headphones port.
When the screen goes dark, I can see that everything is running normal, if I shine on it with a lamp or strong light. The resulting effect seems to be the same as if I would have lowered the brightness to minimum.

When I don't press the area described above, the screen is just fine. I am sure this problem is not software or OS related. I googled it a lot and my guess is lose connection on the inverter?

One last thing - idk if related - sometimes, when I boot up the laptop, the backlight is turned off and I have to adjust it by pressing F3.
I tried to turn it on again by pressing Fn + right arrow key on my keyboard to turn it on but the lights on my touchpad light up as well as caps lock when I turn it on but not the rest.

i have had a lot of problems with my display since august. although i didn't notice at the time, it happened soon after i installed the Win 7 RC.
when i start the laptop up the screen looks all distorted and the colours arent correct:

i assumed the screen was knackered, but i installed a game a few weeks ago and it brought the display back to life, only for it to look crap again when i restarted. this also happened when i did a clean install of vista, only for the display to go bad when the updates installed.
i have tried many times, but have been unable to replicate this...............

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am pretty positive that my laptop does have a backlight. However, I didn't need it at the time and I shut it off. But now I can't turn it on. I originally remembered adjusting it through the power options and that there was a little slider to adjust the brightness of either the screen or the keyboard. I could have been wrong though, since I no longer see the second slider for the keyboard brightness. I have tried everything I could find to get the light to turn on. I used the mobility center but there is no keyboard option. I have tried the fn + spaacebar, fn +f5, and my keyboard does not have a specialized key to adjust the keyboard backlight either. How to turn on the backlight?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy current problem is that when switching from the mobile power-saving GPU I lose the backlight on my screen when the high performance GPU kicks in. The HDMI output is displaying video when in High Performance, but the screen of the laptop will only show a picture with no backlight, and can only be seen by shining a light on the screen.Â
Just started happening the last few days, I've tried a system restore (didn't allow it), tried uninstalling all of the AMD drivers and software then reinstalling with their updated drivers, as well as the same process but with the HP drivers that came with the laptop, still the same result.Is it possible for the high performance GPU to be failing some how or is this a software issue?
At this point I've already replaced the inverter, screen, and LCD cable. I'm guessing the problem has to be with the motherboard.

This is third time the same thing is happening to me. After i install some updates, display dimms, and background light became darker. When i restart computer, and enter BIOS, or if i am just looking at the screen before i log on to windows, backlight is normal.
my backlight and touchpad are not working since i replaced my DV3000's motherboard with one meant for a DV3500 (wrongly listed as DV3000). I think that it has something to do with the lid sensor.

I have Thinkpad Edge E330 bought this July, with win8 downgraded to win7. It recently started a problem where the laptop's own display doesn't display anything (just blank) if I don't have external display connected. The external display doesn't have be in use, just connected, and E330's own display works fine. If I disconnect the external display, the E330's own display goes blank also. It doesn't matter what display setting I have.Currently I'm not able to use my E330 as a laptop at all.

There are  Intel HD Graphics 3000 and ATM Radeon HD 7450M two graphic cards as the device manager window. Recently I am getting blue screens and later message appear saying the ATM driver stopped working. I found many problems with this driver in the past as well. When I check the relevent page for my laptop model, there is no update since 2012..
Can I update these two drivers seperately by getting updates from Intel and AMD sites?Â

The display of my laptop isn't working, like it's not getting any power.
A few days ago I opened my laptop for cleaning using service manual and after carefully putting it back together the display wouldn't turn on.
Using external monitor I ran diagnostics and everything was fine. I double checked cables and such but it didn't work.
When i connect vga cable to external monitor or TV, iam unable to project in 2nd display, tried with multiple cables, tired projector,tv,monitor - still no go....

The last 2 days I have wasted my time trying to fix my laptop. I have tried many things en read many advices all over the internet, but unfortunately every post is a little outdated and not similar to mine.
So recently after my computer screen crashed: my screen froze and all over the screen green stripes were visible. After a forced shutdown and restart, my computer screen started up with the screen flickering red-green-blue-white-black all over again. To see if it had anything to do with my LCD
I connected my laptop to an external screen. (I'm currently writing this on my TV-screen with input from my laptop, but all over the screen there are vertical green bars, 5 of them. If I set my resolution lower, the screen bars seem to spread out over the screen as if my screen was weaven together with green cloth. I have tried another input with a different cable(DVI), but the same problem occurs.
I have attached the images in which the error message is shown. For my graphics card I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers available. It might also be a problem that my graphic cards aren't used for the output of my display.
The drivers for the PCI device on Dell are outdated and not compatible with windows 8, which I run my computer with now.
G60 laptop is working fine with all the latest driver updates...all windows updates... running windows 7, except that when i plug in the hdmi ..... to my toshiba tv... or any other tv for that matter.... the image of the desktop will not display on the tv.... yes its all hooked up right..... but what does happen is that the display adapter recognizes the tv... it will show it  { TOSHIBA TV } on the drop down menu...Â
When the cable is connected... you hear the default windows " yes im connected" sound & when removing the cable... the default "disconnect" sound is heard....
So the pc is recognizing it....but still no image at all on the tv .... cant identify... I've tried 2 different cables & 3 different tv's.... all the same results.....
I've discovered my display driver has stopped working and frequently crashes.

I'v gotten this laptop awhile back and i think this the first i've used bluray and it's not working. Updates are shown as updated. When I place the bluray disc in it states "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD. The disc was created in a manner that the Player does not support." What do i need to do? I am still learning how to use my laptop.
