View 8 RepliesWhen I try to remove it, I can't. There are 4 mini holder on the top of the keyboard, after I push them, the keyboard lifts up a bit, but at the upper angles it is still stick to the chassis. No video disassembly guide is available...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've an Aspire 5720-602G16Mi which has no installed bluetooth module, but has the button fitted in the keyboard (comes up with "NO BLUETOOTH DEVICE"). I've seen all the threads on this and obtained the correct module (and driver if required) and know where on the motherboard to fit it - near the front of the laptop - probably socket BT1, so here's the problem!
I can't get the bottom off the case to access the right spot! :-(
I've taken out the battery, removed the 2 access plates - (I know how to remove the keyboard and the hard drive if neccessary) -BUT even when I've then taken out ALL of the visible screws I can't get the bottom of the case off.
AM I MISSING SOMETHING?
I realise there are "clips" all round the base but I also know that it's a fragile plastic so I don't want to force anything.
A step by step guide or a link to an existing one would be useful ( there may be one here but I can't find it)
how to replace the keyboard? My daughter spilled spaghetti on the keyboard and some of the keys doesn't work anymore . If anybody knows how to replace it with photos and instructions I would appreciate it a lot.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Vaio Z11 laptop came with a German keyboard layout (QWERTZ), as I purchased it from Austria. I'm using English as the input language and I sometimes have trouble remembering where some punctuation marks are.
Can I replace the keyboard? If yes, how doable is that by me? If so, how? Where can I buy the replacement English Q keyboard? (Actually, where can I find spare parts for Vaio Z series?)
I have the 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p) and the outside glass has couple marks on it. I would like to replace this.
Where can I find brand new replacement parts?
Also, I need to replace the keyboard, chrome keyboard bezel and outer chrome cover (on the left hand side of the laptop, around the VGA port). Where can I find brand new replacement parts?
Is it possible to have both ssd and hdd? Ok there is not enough room for both, but, beside that, could it be possible to use at the same time ssd and hdd?
Like ssd for os, and hdd for boot? Doesn't the mobo have 2 sata channel?
Btw could be a nice idea to use the pcie expansion slot where to put a 1.8 sized drive...
I recently bought a N-wireless gigabit router. It is DLink DIR-655. It is reporting the connect to my 1810T AGN wireless is using G. I'm wondering why if my computer supports N and the router supports N, why am I not getting N?
When I checked properties of my wireless card in my 1810T it tells me it is a Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN. If I check the properties and it shows N is enabled. However, under Wireless Mode it is set to 802.11a/b/g. Also, while there are several options that include a, b, and g, there is no option for N.
I actually have a Gateway EC1815U and heard it is identical to the acer 1810t.
In the Gateway bios (insyde) I see an option for a device on IDE1. IDE0 is used for the internal hard drive.
I am wondering if there is either
1- a way to expose the 2nd IDE externally to use like a eSATA device with it
or
2 - Be able to install a 2nd IDE device like a SSD to use that interface
I'm wondering out loud and checking here to see if anyone can offer some advice.
I just bought an 1810T two days ago. It is suppose to have an 8+ hour battery. However, with the setting on Power Saver it is the BatteryBar utility is telling me 6 1/2 hours after a full charge.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've found out that the webcam is a Suyin, I installed drivers from acer website.. and the result is still terrible.
The webcam is so slow, like 1 fps. Even when not in videocall and using acer crystal eye webcam to set it, it's slow, pixelated and sloow.. I don't mind about the colour, yellowish but adjustable, but I do mind about the fps and quality.
I guess it's a driver matter, because the driver installed is the microsoft's standard one. But I couldn't manage to get better results, also some of the settings like auto and white balance or camera control are not selectable.
After a few days of happy 1810T ownership, the computer has begun to have a problem where the screen locks up tight. Nothing revives the computer except holding the power button down to force a powerdown. It reboots OK but shows the screen to optionally boot into Safe Mode.
The screen is a random color when this happens: sometimes green, blue or red. It is NOT the traditional "blue screen of death".
At first I thought it was due to some problems I was having with a conflict between The KM Player and Adobe Flash (as detailed here and here, for example). Luckily I had done Acronis 2010 images at each step of the way in the "new notebook" process:
- image made right out of the box by booting from Acronis disc first, before ever running Win7 on the computer (I call this the "Day 0 Image")
- image made after doing Windows Updates, Windows Security Essentials, installing apps (KM Player, IrfanView, FireFox, etc) and user data
Thinking the problem was due to the KM Player conflicts, I restored the computer back to when there was no KM Player, i.e. out-of-the-box Day 0 Image. This went fine and Acronis worked smoothly.
I did the Windows Updates but did not install any apps or user data... and the screen lockup still happens! Sometimes it happens soon after login, other times things run OK for a while first.
I am really concerned about this. If I can't rely on the computer to not lock up regularly, it is essentially useless to me. I am very surprised to see the problem even after an "out of the box" disk restore.
Any suggestions? Even if you don't have knowledge of how to deal with this problem specifically, do you know where else I can ask? What will Acer's take on this be? I am afraid they will just pass it off as "user error" and leave me stuck...
To Add:
1) I can't remember if this has happened only when on battery, or also when plugged in. I will check and see if it happens in both modes. If it only happens when on battery, at least that shows a path forward.
2) I have not tried to restore via the Acer eRecovery DVDs yet, though I don't know why this would be any better than the Acronis 2010 Day 0 image. I was in the process of burning the first Acer recovery DVD last night when... the screen locked up!
3) I have emailed Acer Support about the problem, though I suspect they won't trust Acronis 2010 and they'll tell me to restore via Acer eRecovery DVD...
I'm looking at picking up an AS1810T to replace my Samsung NC10 netbook and my HP DV8230US laptop.
I was looking at an MSI earlier due to its better warranty (3 years) and better price ($450 as opposed to $600)...but unfortunately, the lack of VT on the T6600 is a deal-breaker.
Does Acer have Virtualization enabled on the AS1810T? The SU7300 has it, but I want to make sure that there's nothing else that would prevent me from being able to use the laptop properly...as VMWare and XP Mode are requirements for what I'll be doing with it.
just got my son the 1810TZ and reinstalled with Win7 64Bit Ultimate.
I now cannot get the wifi to work no matter what. Thoughts? Is it an Atheros? I have installed the atheros package as well as all other drivers that say wifi with no luck...keep getting network cable unplugged and in system properties it identifies a network controller to which there are no drivers installed...
I thought Win 7 would pick up all poss hardware for the most part. I never had this prob on my 1810T-6188.
My Acer 1810T has Windows 7 Home Premium x64 installed and it is using a Microsoft Webcam driver version 6.1.7600.16385 dated 6/21/2006.
On Acer's site, they list 3 Camera drivers for Windows 7 Home Premium x64:
Chicony - 1.1.95.71
liteon - 0.905
Suyin - 5.2.7.1
I put on cpu-z ( I got the crappy ram like some of the others) but what I thought was odd that it said FSB was 800 and multiplier was 8 and indicated my CPU was running at 1.6Ghz. Is this an error on CPU-z?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a utility reccommended here called BatteryBar. It has a category called Battery wear. What is battery wear? Is it as it sounds, a degradation of the maximum potential of a battery over time? Is there particular actions that cause an increase in battery wear?
I have a 1 week old Acer 1810T. Up until now the battery wear has been 0.0%. However, I let the battery run down to the point that the computer shutdown. I thought this was a good thing. I know in the old days batteries would develop a memory. They recommended a occasion full run down and charge. I think I read this is not true for the Lithium battery, however.
Well, after restarting my computer I see my battery wear is now at 1.4%. Is this because I let it run down? Also, if I want to my battery to last as long as it can, is it better to take it out when using it at home on AC power? That is about 90% of my usage.
Is it adviceable to delete the old preinstalled partition just to install w7 ultimate?
I have on HDD 12GB of recovery partition, 100MB of system , and 280 of OS.
What would you do.. erase all and proceed with new fresh W7? Is it risky?
I got my new 1810T and after opening it up, the first thing I noticed was that the touchpad buttons are not even.
By "even" I mean they're not level with each other. The left button sits a little higher on its right side and the right button sits lower on its left side.
Anyone else experience this? Is this something that has a simple fix like the double-sided tape for the mushy keyboard?
Also, I went into the device manager, opened up the monitor properties and when I choose "Hardware Ids" it shows this:
MONITORCMO1100
What type of panel do I have?
I have the Asus PVR and have a bunch of movies in H.264 format. Can anyone tell me if they play well on the 1410. I will buy the 1810T if I have to but the 1410 fits my pocket better and if it does everything I need it to I can live with the minus 2 hours on the battery.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've noticed our new 1810T's arrow and PageUp/PageDown keys often don't respond to presses, specifically when pressed higher on the key (along the upper border as someone says in one of the 1810T owner threads). This ends up happening quite a lot the way I situate my hands over the keyboard and the touchpad, and is a serious issue for me since I'm using these keys a lot in the development environment I use. As referenced above I've seen a few mentions of this issue on the forum, but no clear confirmation whether it is normal for the 1810T. Can anyone with a 1810T out there verify whether their unit exhibits this issue?
View 6 Replies View Relatedis it possible to overclock this version of 1810T?
I've read about a mode to apply, but it was for SU3500, I dunno if it's needed also for SU7300.
Second question, is: this Kingston Hyperix 2x4GB 800MHz memory at 4-4-4-12 timings compatible with this laptop?

I recently bought 1810T. It has W7 ultimate 64bit and 3303 bios installed. Unfortunately there is the issue that battery is discharging for about 5-8% per day when laptop is off (shut down).
I've disabled all "wake on" properties in network adapter driver properties but
unfortunately it does not help.
I was thinking of picking up a 1810T with an SU7300 and 4GB DDR2; I want something portable, good on battery, and for (very) light gaming.
How would the 4500MHD handle KOTOR, WarCraft III, or TorchLight? These aren't very demanding games and I was hoping to be able to play them on the go...
Honestly, the 1810T is a very nice little system!
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate, downloaded software/installed software the entire time, and browsed the internet).
Anyway, I plugged it in today, and it's been charging for just over 4 hours now and it's only at 78%...is this unusually slow to charge? Should I send mine back? I've never had a proper working battery take this long to charge, even 9 cells.
I add wwan option gtm 382 mo40x in my acer 1810tz dual core.
I solderin mini-pci-e connector 3.9mm hight and sim slot.
wwan modem is unloced.
Why my acer + gtm382 working only bios v0.3108 not 3113 3115 3117 "not boot, display is boot is nothin and tilt " but 3108 working nice.
I need new bios.

Update: It works now after applying these useful instructions:
Quote:
Firefox 3.5.5 users have to follow a separate set of instructions:
Before running a YouTube HD clip, please go to Firefox menus and select Tools/Clear Recent History. Ensure the Cookies checkbox is checked, and do the clear. Next, go to Tools/Options/Privacy and select “Never Remember History”.
The above procedure will ensure an HD clip is first loaded in SD mode with 640x horizontal resolution, and then you select the HD button and get GPU- accelerated playback at 1280x HD mode. If you do not first delete Cookies and then turn off history, you may enter an 854x SD horizontal resolution upon starting up an HD clip which is not GPU-accelerated today. If starting in 854x SD mode, when you switch to the HD version, it will still be non-GPU accelerated.
This is the follow-up thread to Phil's great Timeline Tweaks thread.
I've decided to leave out 13"+ timelines for now and focus on the 11.6" models.
3810T, 4810T, 5810T and Travelmate users are welcome to create dedicated tweaks threads.
Some tweaks in this thread work for other timelines too, though.
