I have an Acer 5720Z with GMA X3100. The BIOS is very basic and there is no way to change the RAM size from there. So I would like to know if there are other ways to change the video RAM size from the default 8mb to the maximum 358mb
View 4 RepliesI recently got an Aspire 5315 laptop and have been slowly getting it set up to run XP instead of Vista. However, the one problem I am having at the moment is with the Intel X3100 Graphics Accelerator. I have looked all over the internet and can't seem to find any info on how I can define the memory that is allocated to the card, it's all well and good the card using dynamic memory allocation but it's not allocating enough memory. I want to have a fixed 128MB dedicated to the graphics but I can't see any way of doing this either via the Intel software or the BIOS.
I thought I ought to be able to assign a minimum memory amount via the BIOS but graphics memory is locked on my BIOS setting. Would flashing to a later BIOS fix this?
At the moment i have 2GB of RAM running on the Turion 64 Dual Processor with Windows Vista Business (in the Control Panel > System it says the OS is 32-bit).
I have heard that with a 32-bit OS you can't go above 2GB in laptops. Is that right? It seems a little too broad of an accusation.
Will it acknowledge the extra 2GB i put in it?
I'd like to upgrade my VGN-SR190 memory from 2GB to 4GB. Can anyone recommend a good buy from Newegg (or another site)?

Would you have a combination of 2GB and 4GB? Wouldn't the ram pieces have to be of the same value and from the same manufacture?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new HP laptop and it has 3gb ddr2 memory. It says that the max memory is 4gb, but I was wondering if you can put in say 6gb or 8gb? Reason I ask is because I saw a sony laptop that was essentially the same with the memory being the exception. On the Sony, it came with 4gb and was expandable to 8gb. Oh, and my laptop is running Windows 7 64bit if that matters. If its not possible, Ill just upgrade to 4gb... If you guys could though, maybe tell me what limits a pc's ability to run a certain amount of memory? Mine has 2 slots for memory and I have seen some 4gb sticks for sale, but Im not going to spend the money on something that wont work.

I did not buy the notebook for playing games, but sometimes I just want to play. First it is all fine with World of Warcraft. Low FPS at all, but everything normal.
But when I am trying to run Warcraft with the notebook I get bluescreens. I know this have been discussed several times yet, but I can't get it running with the given hints.
First I did:
-opengl on shortcut (Bluescreen)
-swtnl on shortcut (Bluescreen)
Then I tried several drivers to run. The latest and some older drivers from the official Intel page.
Another hint is to install drivers of the version 14.33 or older. But I can't find anything like this. The links posted in some posts i found here didnt work and in the archieves of the Intel page are just newer drivers.

i having the Acer TravelMate 6493, originally it have 2GB of Memory. Recently, i have addin additional 2GB, mean that currently the system is having 4GB of Memory.
in the BIOS, showing the system is installed with 4GB of Memory, but when come into the windows, it show 4GB installed (2.90GB Usable) .....
i know theres a clear difference, but does the 9400 clearly blow the x3100 out the water? also; i heard the white macbook was being discontinued. why do the new whitebooks not have a 2.4 processor. How much difference is 2.0/2.1ghz vs a 2.4? Why isn't there a 2.4 + 9400m option? is it a heating issue?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIm running Vista 32 on a 6710b and I want to install the latest X3100 driver from the Intel site, but it tells me the driver is not made for my laptop and to get the driver from the manufacture of the laptop. Ive seen this come up with a google search, but in every instance, there is no solution. Is there a way to install the latest drivers from Intel, or do I have to wait for HP to make them available on their site?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a second hand M1330 on ebay with the intel graphics. I can't seem to get a driver installed no matter which one I use. I've tried both Vista and Windows 7 but in both cases when I'm trying to install the drivers, I get an error message saying
The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.
Setup with exit.
I've tried both drivers from the intel site as well as the dell site but no luck. Any ideas?

However, under his windows experience score - he gets 5.9 score for memory operations while I just get a 5.1. I can't believe that a couple of hundred mhz can result in such a drastic difference.
Is there something optimized for his system but not for mine?
I just purchased a used Elitebook 8540w with i7 quad core and four memory slots (I love it!).  It is running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional  It came with one 4gb memory module and I purchased an additional 4gb module to bring total RAM to 8gb. Â

Not quite.  In the Elitebook 8540w, the primary memory slots under the keyboard are clearly labeled "1" and "2"  However, the expansion memory slots on the underside of the chassis are also clearly labeled "1" and "2"  Opps!  There is no "3" and there is no "4"  In which of the unfilled three slots do I install the second 4gb module for correct functioning of dual channel memory?
Purchased my 8920G-8332Q32Bn a few months back and at the time, the GeForce 9650 wasn't available so I settled for the 9500M GS. I find its performance very sluggish and read somewhere that these lappies come with "MXM-II" meaning the GPU's are swappable? Would anyone know of the costs associated and if it's even possible.
I don't know if there's something faulty with my GPU. I installed Microsoft FS9.1 with AF at 4x and AA at 8 and used to average 40fps. Now, under the same settings, same scenery, same amount of scenery, I barely make 15fps. I've tried resetting all settings in FS and the Nvidia Control panel but to no avail. I do notice that the laptop is much much hotter than before.
I know it's possible to upgrade the hard drive in my Acer 5920G, but I've got no idea what type of hard drive to look for, and which will be compatible etc.

But what I would like to know is, would I be able to install a new coppy of vista on to my new hdd then install empowering technology and then use the back up image that I have allready created on my external hdd so that I would'nt have to mess around with installing every single one of my programs, apps and games again? as it litteraly takes me about 2-3 days to get it the way I want it (recently took it back tio factory default btw and it was a nightmare lol), or is there a better way to go around it?
