I was wondering if my Acer upgrade W7 Home premium 32bit key would activate a downloaded W7 Home Premium 64bit iso. (I have su9400 processor, so can run 64bit).
Acer claims its upgrade won't support this, but I'd be interested to find out if anybody has managed it.
I want to upgrade from vista business 32bit to vista business 64bit or ultimate 64bit...can i use the key i get from business 32 bit on either of these?
and should i upgrade, or uninstall and then install? using a latitude e6400 btw..

it has Vista Home premium preloaded 32Bit.
I'm waiting win7 to come out but i need some advices and ideas about changing from x32 to x64.
Is this a good idea? Will 4GB ddr used fully by x64 systems instead of 3GB limitation in x32, and will my pc boot and work faster?
Is true about x64 instability or a lot of issues and incompatibility with devices and apps?
I have recently bought acer aspire 6920 with vista home premium (OEM) preinstalled 64bit version. I have made recovery dvd discs from erecovery option for factory defaults.
I have two questions:
1: will Acer provide recovery discs free of cost if requested.
2: Will I be able to install vista home premium 32bit version on D drive from a retail version I have, side by side with 64bit on C drive. Shall be thankful if someone can clarify with procedure for item 2 since I am not very familiar with notebooks working.

It came with 32bit Vista Home Premium, but I have a 64 bit Vista Ultimate upgrade disc. Is it possible to upgrade from 32 bit Vista Home Premium to 64bit Vista Ultimate, or do I have to have a full 64 bit Vista Ultimate disc? And one last thing, is there really a big difference in performance going from 32bit to 64bit? I don't do anything very intensive with it, but if it makes everything seen snappier than.......

i understand 32bit windows can only use up to 4gb while 64bit windows can utilize over 4gb. It seems that the clear advantage would be using windows 64bit since it has 8gb of ram.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI opened up my Z last night and changed the stock HDD to a new WD Scorpio Black 320gb 7200rpm HDD. Aside from some difficulty with one of the screws already having a stripped head, it was a fairly simple process.
I turned the Z back on and installed Vista Home Premium x64 SP1 from the OEM disc that I bought for my custom-built desktop computer (to clarify, this means it's the official MSDN release of Vista x64 SP1 from March '08, w/ no embedded drivers), using the Vista product key under the bottom of my Z. All was well until the install completed and Vista rebooted... it gave me the blue screen of death. I shut down the Z and turned it back on -- same result. Then I started the Z and jumped into the BIOS immediately, took out the Vista install disc, and started -- this time it didn't blue screen and the Vista install completed and successfully booted to the desktop.
I was tired and went to bed at that point before installing any drivers, but I'm concerned that my install may be corrupted and that I should attempt it again (perhaps ensuring that I remove the install disc immediately upon the reboot?). Could the blue screen be an issue associated with my Vista SP1 disc not having the right SATA drivers for the Z? If that's the case, I may have to try to create a new Vista install disc with the drivers slip-streamed in.
Another odd thing was that, when choosing where to install, Vista saw the only partition on the HDD as "Disk 0 Partition 3." The HDD is brand new -- I remember back to when I installed Vista on my desktop and it saw my hard drive as "Disk 0 Partition 1." There was no missing space, it had the 298.9GB that you'd expect for a 320GB drive.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer 6930ZG with a fresh install of windows 7 RC 32bit. I can play Call Of Duty 4, Counter Strike, Flatout 2 etc. with no problems! But when I try to open MapleStory a blue screen appears, and begin to make a physcial memory dump? . MapleStory is a 2D-game, and Call Of Duty requires much more.
I made a little research, and I found out that alot of people have the same problem, and they said it was caused by a conflict with a program or hardware drivers. I have tried to delete my NVIDIA driver, and install it again. No luck.
And yes, I have also tried to run MapleStory in compatibily mode
As I said: It's only in MapleStory I experience the problem, and I don't think it's ram-failure, since I have seen the same problem on a different computer, and I can play Call of Duty 4.

I am not able to activate my bluetooth device since i have upgraded my laptop to windows 8.1 from windows 8. I saw the video added by acer for this issue on acer's official site but the thing is I didn't find that option to turn on bluetooth on PC and Devices section from settings page.

I know vista doesn't use part of the ram but my question was, does it really make a performance change to reckon with?

I just got this laptop (windows vista home premium 64bit) from newegg yesterday and I was wondering why in the task manger and the processes tab, most of the problems end with "*32".
For example:

pidgin.exe *32
Steam.exe *32
I have never used Vista 64 bit before and I was wondering if something is wrong.
Does the 4gb version of the 8930g come with Vista 32 or Vista 64 , as if it`s Vista 32 you will only be able to access 3gb of memory.
Now to my point, I have been looking at the free Windows 7 upgraded, but the Acer FAQ says if your notebook comes with Vista32 you will only get a Windows 7 -32bit upgrade.

In the GUIDE [Clean Install Guide (works for 32-bit or 64-bit) there is said, that I need to download Intel Chipset Driver/INF Update Utility and Turbo Memory Driver from provided links, but in my manufacturer's page [Acer 8930G] I have Intel_AHCI_v8.5.0.1032 and Intel_Robson_1.6_v1.6.1.1004.
The question is:
- do I install all four of them?
- do I install the first two?
- do I install the second two?
Which drivers do I need to download for everything to work perfectly?
