I am trying to activate the infrared sensor, but there is no "advanced" tab in the BIOS.
Is there a trick to getting to this tab, or getting it to appear? I have tried pressing the "m" key instead of F2 when the POST screen is on, but nothing happens; it just goes on to boot the OS.
I own an acer aspire 3104 wlmi from 3100 series. It has a Sempron mobile CPU and i'd like to change to a Turion X2. I bought a Turion X2 TL-52 and tried to upgrade it.
With the last bios the Turion is recognized by the motherboard and the very first time started well on win xp pro. But just when windows installed "ACPI Multiprocessor driver" then it didn't reboot nevermore. With a system test software i tested the cpu. This software tested cpu1 and cpu2, but it failed only the "processor control cpu2 test".
Now i understand that maybe the motherboard doesn't have the multiprocessor support or it doesn't have it enabled. I looked for a jumper but nothing...
Also the service manual shows in the cpu compatibility list the Turion TL-52
Surely if i reinstall the sempron cpu, notebook works flawless
I have recently upgraded to windows 8.1 on my Acer Aspire and unfortunately since then, Dolby Advanced Audio V2 refuses to work. I have uninstalled my audio drivers, and re-installed with the latest versions, I have uninstalled DAAV2 and re-installed, and it still does not work. I'm not really sure where to go from here. It launches properly and you can turn it on and off, but ultimately, it does not show any difference between having it on anymore or off. As well as the fact that the little panel you open where it shows the bars while you play music, doesn't move at all. I use my Acer Aspire mainly for music and youtube videos and the like, so this is rather important to me.
The Troubleshoot icon that should be under the 'Advanced Startup' Option is missing. I don't know if it's because I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 but I used that previously when I need to go to safe mode. Suddenly it disappeared. I can only pick two options, "Continue to Windows 8.1" and "Turn off the PC".
Is there any modded bios available with some advanced "oc" features. I am trying to undervolt cpu from bios, shut down one core, slow down clock, change fan from silent to normal mode... etc... (This wouldn't be too much to ask from regular desktop board)
Until I boot and start windows my cpu is already too hot. (my notebook is ok, just cpu was upgraded and it's overheats a bit.)
Does this original bios has some secret menus to tweak those settings ?
How I can update the BIOS so I can be able to access advanced options such as memory config, enabling turbo boost, overlocking, changing the boot order (HDD, CDROM, USB, etc)
Currently the BIOS is a very simple and doens't give me advanced options and information.
We have two HP Pavilion dv6t-3100 CTO Select Edition Entertainment notebooks purchased at the same time. The screen on one of them has been flickering, has had to do a few recoveries, and has generated at least one BSOD.
Oddly, the problem child's Intel driver is 8.17.0010.0029, and the AMD driver is 8.741.1.1000, dated 6/22/2010.
But the problem-free laptop has Intel driver 8.17.0010.1043, and AMD driver 8.771.1.0, dated 9/8/2010.
Huh? The only difference between the two is the "bad" laptop has a i7-720QM ICU whereas the "good" laptop has the slightly more powerful i7-740QM. So why the different drivers?
HP Mini 110-3100. When power up, get the HP logo and then a blank screen with curser flashing upper left hand corner.
Ran diagnostics --- everything passed. Cannot get into System Recovery Cannot get into Safe Mode I do get into the Setup Utility but nothing there that fixes the problem. I do get into System information, but again, nothing there to fix this start up problem.
Estimates at local shops to fix start at minimum $110 - obviously could be higher However, Amazon selling HP Mini 110-1030NR for $110
Questions: 1. How I can recover to operate the HP MIni 110-3100 I have? 2. What are the differences in 110-3100 versus the 110-1030NR 3. If I decide to buy the -1030NR instead of having the -3100 repaired, what I am giving up and ALSO, what does the NR stand for?
I recently upgraded my aspire 3623 from a M370 to a M740. The bios needs to be upgraded to operate speedstep of the new cpu. Currently it runs at 1.3 instead of the 1.7 it's supposed to. At bootup it says 1.733 gh but in EVEREST it says it's running 1.296gh. I can't find on the ACER site where to get the BIOS upgrade download. Is there a 3rd party location anyone knows about?
what i did, was i downloaded the Windows 7 Beta Testing thing, and it completely overwrote my Windows XP, and now i have no operating system, i do have a reformat disk, but the acer aspire one has no cd/dvd drive!
i tryed going into the BIOS to try and see if i can boot from my flash drive, but guess what? the BIOS is asking me for a password, i never even set a password.
I really need Intel VT for my laptop, however it's not in the BIOs does anyone have a modded version of know of how I can activate it some how? I can't afford a new laptop at the moment.
I'm a high school junior with a year+ old Acer computer that has broken down twice and is now out of warranty. I purchased this computer with my own money.
My Aspire M laptop will not boot due to the 'boot configuration file being invalid', at least, this is what the 'Recovery' blue screen states. The blue screen offeres to 'Press Esc for UEFI Firmware settings, but is not responsive. I've tried F2, F8, F10, Alt+F10, F12, Space Bar, Delete and Break to try to activate the BIOS interface, all equally unsuccessful.
I followed the instructions to purchase recovery tools from Acer, but without being able to access the BIOS to set the boot order, I've just sunk another $25 into a laptop that doesn't work.
I have a 4 different HDD's that I have tried. Frequently the BIOS does not see it. After a few reboots, the HDD eventually shows up and the OS boots just fine. It can run for days without any issues and then suddenly have trouble detecting any HDD. I have a little better luck my samsung HDD. It will always eventually work.
anyone using Acer Aspire 5580 having the same problem? I've upgraded my BIOS driver to 1.3508 and it only shows 3GB of RAM. With the previous driver version 1.3505 somehow I couldn't make it to the Windows GUI while having 4GB of RAM installed.
I've made a lot of study on the internet, looks like it's a common problem with intel chipset 945PM. I'm using Windows 7 x64,
i just have updated the bios for my notebook after a while i get a bluescreen error the microsoft error was showing the error and the error happens because of bios update my RAM and CPU not working very well with my new bios version so i just want to rollback the version from 1.10 to 1.05 one
any link that i can get the 1.05 bios version?
if i would do a full system recovery like factory recovery would that goes back to old version?
Second time this has happened. I've downloaded the BIOS update from Acer's website.
Closed all programs, disabled the antivirus and went to flash it. Right after clicking start I get a Verify Error and the sytem freezes and is a dead unit. First time this happened they tried to tell me it was something like $150 to fix even though I did everything right. Now I went to do it again, same thing. Now Acer is telling me it will cost $450 to fix it. It's only 3 months old. They are also saying they are not responsible for anything downloaded from their web site.
So, couple questions. Has anyone successfully flashed their BIOS to 1.34? Does anyone know where you can buy motherboards cheap?
I have a problem with the bios upgrade on my Aspire 5920G.
I have downloaded from Acer's site the 3813 version and i try to use it with winphlash, the program that is in the folder when i unzip.
I have always an error message, the one in the printscreen.
Yes, i have opened the program with administrator privileges, the same message pops out. I think that the problem is that i have Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
I flashed the BIOS using the windows software beyond my better judgement and the install crashed. I waited 30 minutes and the system never started to flash again. I have tried a few ideas to get the BIOS to restore. I tried the FN-ESC method and the usb-Floppy tries to install the system but i am still not able to get the OLD BIOS restore.
I have the BIOS backed up on the systems hard drive but I am gonna have to remove the drive and get the backup BIOS and try to install it on the recovery disc. What are some ways to restore the BIOS the system is also out of warrenty and I payed acer support to tell me that are not able to help me.
my laptop overheating problems ever since I bought it, I almost tried everything ..... but alas nothing worked the final straw im hanging on is to downgrade my bios to the utterly old version 1.13 which is the last known stable & heat friendly version which is not on Acer website anymore .... So I was wondering if anyone has the windows 7 x64 executable bios 1.13 for aspire 5738G on their laptop
I have no issues whatsoever with this laptop, but just saw that there is a newer version of the BIOS available from Acer. Should this be updated? What precautions should I take before doing so?
I have an Aspire 7720z. As Vista was having so many glitches, I set up a dual boot system with XP and Ubuntu 8.10 on two partitions on the same drive. Last week I upgraded Ubuntu to 9.10 but started having power problems. I read somewhere that a BIOS update would help so I flashed to v1.45. Everything is now going great with my Ubuntu OS. The problem lies in Windows. When I try to boot to XP the splash screen comes up for a couple of seconds and the the computer reboots. I used a test disk to check the drive and everything is fine. I then tried to repair the XP installation with the install disk but was told that it couldn't find an XP installation. So, for the umteenth time, I tried to re-install XP but was told that the installer couldn't locate any devices to install onto. Completely bewildering as my Ubuntu installation works perfectly.
