View 4 RepliesMy acer travelmate P645m internet connection is quite bad. It happens quite frequent as well.
When I connect my laptop to wi-fi (my own router and in the library), it always has a yellow triangle exclamation mark all of a sudden. As my phone connects to those wi-fi too, I have checked the internet is still working fine when it happens on my laptop, so I am sure it is my laptop that doesn't connect to the wi-fi stably. I will have to turn off the wi-fi and turn it on again to make sure it has access to the internet.
I know it is not a complicated process of turning off and on the wi-fi on my laptop but because I just bought the laptop two months ago, if there is any hardware problem, I would like to fix it within my warranty. Why the internet connection on my laptop is so poor?
i have an acer 6935G and the memory installed is 4GB with DDR3 aswell as GPU which says DDR3.but since i've been browsing the forums for quite some time,i've seen people stating that acer doesn't really support DDR3 on this machines and it acts like DDR2.How can i change it to run as DDR3 than? And how am i sure it runs as DDR2 or 3?

I have Acer Travelmate 7520G (Turion TL-58) and upgraded from 2G of 667Mhz RAM to 4G of 800Mhz, however the memory is still running at 667Mhz and FSB:RAM being CPU/6. Chipset here is Ati RS690 and according to Everest it supports 800Mhz DDR2. There is no option in bios to change the RAM frequency or divider.. I have tried updating the bios with no luck.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI see that thread BIOS Update V1.24: 4GB RAM in 9410? was already locked (yes, I missed it by more than a year).
I'm guessing there are still users out there using their Acer Aspire 9410 laptops.
I recently purchased two 2GB DDR2 modules. They both work fine individually and I've tested using memtest86+. When I plug both modules in, the BIOS only sees 3067MB. The Phoenix BIOS in my Acer Aspire 9410-4933 is version 1.24. I would expect that the BIOS sees all 4GB.
Is there any Phoenix BIOS newer than 1.24 that I can use for my Acer Aspire 9410-4933?
I've read that there may be hidden BIOS settings and I'm wondering if anybody can point me to a URL that describes how to un-hide those settings?
Lastly: according to the aforementioned locked thread, the BIOS is the one limiting how much memory is addressable. Is there any way to hack around that?
I have read a lot of people ask if theyr Acer laptop are overclockable on the CPU, and sometimes different users say that is possible but is difficult. I search some guide, but i don't find nothing.
if is possible overclock my CPU?
I have try whit SetFPS, i have find the proper chip on my Notebook, but when i try to move the frequencies they return to original valor.
i tesed if my pc could run cod4, well everything was working i meeted minimum but i failed recommended, it said my cpu was not fast enought, so should i get adriver to overclock my CPU speed,

Are there any programs out there? I believe it uses the same PLL as the 5930g.

(after turning the video card up in the bios). anyway, i wish to overclock it to get around 1.8 to 2 GHZ out of the cpu. unfortuntly this means more heat, im wanting to replace the fan with something faster. but after a fustraiting battle, i cant find out how to open it. i removed all the screws and pried the edges open but it wont budge. it would be awesome if someone could give me a step by step way to open it. some pictures would be cool too.

Second question, is: this Kingston Hyperix 2x4GB 800MHz memory at 4-4-4-12 timings compatible with this laptop?
Does anyone have experience in modifying their GPU BIOS to overclock their graphic card?
I know its risky, but my graphics card (ATI HD3470 hybrid x2) has no desktop equivalent so i cant use ATI Tools.
I have managed to get a 30% overclock, from 680 mhz to 880 mhz, while at the same time undervolted it by 0.1 volts.
Are there any long term consequences if its stable?
For anyone interested, benchmarks ........
I'm looking for a stable driver for use with Windows Vista SP1 64-bit on a Dell XPS M1530 with 4 GB of RAM and a GeForce 8600M GT 256MB GDDR3. I tried 174.34 but it was unstable and caused some issues.
I require that it uses WHQL no modified INFs, games that I am playing are CoD4, UT3, NFS Most Wanted, and Company of Heroes.
I have a M1530 with 8600M GT running Windows 7 64x. The computer is raised +1cm above the ground in the back to optimize air flow. Ive also implemented undervolting to minimize heat generation from the CPU.
When playing games (mostly Aion) which shouldnt be that high demaning, I've experienced BSOD, Fragmented screen, High temperatures (92C) and high temp shutdown (unknown temp).
I have tried
186.81
195.39
195.55
Without any superior results.
My guess is that I have to contact Dell for mobo replacement again. This is prob. my 4th time since I first got a M1530. Got a replacement laptop in januari. In total, i believe Ive had +7 ..
I was all set to buy an M4400 last week until I started reading about all the bios/driver/software issues people have had with them. Is the W500 a better choice for someone looking for stability out of the box?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Idle temp seems to be within the range of:
27C-43C for CPU
44C-51C for GPU
These are temps when I'm not even doing anything. The fan activates when the GPU hits 51C and stops when the GPU temp reaches 44C. The CPU doesn't seem to be a factor in activating the fan.
Use I8Kfangui to see your CPU and GPU temps. Just don't click on AUtomatic Fan Control because that will severely lag your system until you turn it off. http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html
DISCLAIMER! - I will not be responsible for what you do with your cards. However, I wanted to create a thread that would show those that want to play what the 8800m GTXs are capable of.
Before we get started. Let me explain the theory and the reasoning behind this whole thing.
Dell is not in the business of creating computers that burn up, and as most are very aware, they factor in a lot of room for overclocking and game enthusiasts that want to push their hardware to the limit. Here however, they did a "no no" IMO. However it's also the only way that they could tame the beast the 8800 is.
At the heart of the problem is the Dell PSU which is only rated at 230 watts and is close to being maxed and general heat generated by the cards themselves.
The standard 8800s as they arrive from dell, are set to run @ 1.00 volts. This however is a long shot from desktop versions of the cards running @ over 1.3 volts which are near identical in architecture. (some desktop users volt their's to over 1.4 volts!!!!)
What gives? Well from doing a little research, I found out that Dell, is not alone in undervolting these cards and Clevo along with dell does this as well except they undervolt even more! Down to 0.95V!!
Now the benefit of the undervolt, is that you generate a lot less heat. However the less voltage you allow the card, the less stable the card becomes at higher clock frequencies. From reading the posts on this forum alone, I noticed that most people run into artifacting between 620mhz and 645mhz core clocks and 950 memory clocks. The reason for this, is that at those clocks, you are asking the GPUs to do more work, then the voltage supplied to them will allow. All cards are different, but for the most part will run into stability problems before they run into heat problems. Testing this, I found that the GPU fans don't even kick on high during Crysis a game that should push any GPU and its fans to high................................
