Sony :: HD 3650 DDR2 Or DDR3
Mar 10, 2009I was wondering is the HD 3650 in the FW DDR2 or 3?

View 3 RepliesI got my system over weekend with following config
P8600
2GB DDR2
160GB
FullHD
Vista 64bit premium
I'm planning to upgrade RAM and I'm thinking if it is worth upgrading to DDR3 instead of DDR2 4GB. Price difference between two seems to be like $20-$30.
Yeah Yeah... I still have a 3650 DDR2
I am looking to upgrade my laptop very soon....
Back to the question in hand....
I want to overclock my 3650, but with the latest drivers (and after the 8.10 Drivers I have not been able to overclock) ...
Was just wondering if there any any new methods in order to overclock my card...
how to knw my gpu is ddr2 or ddr3? its nvidia 9600m gt
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have an acer 6935G and the memory installed is 4GB with DDR3 aswell as GPU which says DDR3.but since i've been browsing the forums for quite some time,i've seen people stating that acer doesn't really support DDR3 on this machines and it acts like DDR2.How can i change it to run as DDR3 than? And how am i sure it runs as DDR2 or 3?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI did some research on the Dell M4400 I ordered a few days ago. I got the minimum amount of Dell memory they would sell me of 1GB. I did the same with the hard drive (80GB/5400RPM) knowing I could get it a lot cheaper on my own.
Hard Drive
I've found a hard drive (Fujitsu MHZ2320BJ-G2 320GB 7200 RPM 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive - OEM) and a laptop drive comparison/ review in Laptop Magazine. Here is the hard drive listed above @ $69.00 for 320GB/7200RPM. [url]. I'll try it however I have been a WD guy for my desktop.
Memory
I have been pricing DDR2 and DDR3 and found other posts saying DDR3 wasn't worth it and will not work on this forum at this thread HERE and will not work in the M4400 however this review says it will HERE
The memory I found HERE is priced @ $57.99 Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory Model CT2KIT25664BC1067 - Retail
Quote:
"As a matter of fact the Montevina platform would in general also support DDR3 RAM modules. According to Dell, the standard equipment does not include DDR3 modules, because they still cost much and the availability is still limited while the performance gain of the new chips is rather small. But, they do not exclude that they will offer them later."
I was looking at FW's today and noticed that I can only upgrade to a HD 3650 if I get 64 bit Vista, is this just sony trying to get more money or does the HD 3650 actually require vista 64 bit?
View 8 Replies View Relatedi just opened GPU-Z to see that the speeds are: 450 mhz clock speed and 700 mhz memory speed.
arnt the stock speeds meant to be 600/700?
i used amd gpu clock tool to put them up to 600/700 but the fan is constantly on and the temps are about 55-58 constantly.
anyone elses 3650 at these clocks? mine is a ATI 3650 HD 512mb GDDR3 version.
Running my FW290 with an ATI 3650 through my AVR (Onkyo TX-SR706), I get video, but no audio - audio stays with the computer. I have no audio issues running the computer through HDMI directly to my TV (except at times I've had to switch the default playback device to HDMI). That option is not available here as the computer is not showing any HDMI output.

will the speed of the ram limit the fsb of the cpu in any way?
Does anyone know what type of video ram it has, GDDR3 or DDR3?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a ATI 3650 and for some reason its Core Clock is 450Mhz and the Memory Clock is 500Mhz
When I look up the HD Mobility Radeon HD 3650 on Notebookcheck it shows its supposed to be 600Mhz Core Clock and 700Mhz Memory
I have the newest Drivers using Mobility Modder. And could not be happier with its performance to date. However I would like to squeeze a bit more from it for Command & Conquer 4 coming up .....

ive attached the pic XD
Today I connected my 6530G (Win7) to my 37" LCD TV to try out Media Centre as I've sorted out all my media nice and tidy, only to find I could only display in the laptops resolution of 1366x768. This left a black border all around the picture which looked terrible especially when I did play a movie back.
I thought the laptop was capable of displaying full HD 1080p as written on the keyboard? Is this just a driver/software fault or something I'm missing?
My Fn+F5 doesn't do anything anymore, but when I connected the HDMI cable it instantly displayed on the TV aswell as the laptop (dual screen). Could this be the problem?
idea to go check out what HP has changed in their laptops recently. Well i looked at the dv5z and behold HP has put in a 512mb radeon 3650. If they can do this for the dv7z i will be saying goodbye to my dv7t.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got myself a shiny 1735. I'm not a big gamer, but I wanted something that could play the odd game and specifically World of Warcraft. With this in mind (and the fact that I've never yet met an integrated graphics solution that didn't suck so hard that Dyson wanted to patent it), I went with the ATi Radeon Mobility HD 3650 gfx upgrade. I've never been a fan of ATi so it wouldn't have been my first choice of card, but given that it's about the same choice as the vegetarian "option" in restaurants (ie, take it, or go hungry) I figured it was worth a punt.
Got WoW installed and played about with settings. To cut a long story short, it looks absolutely gorgeous and will happily fling the game about with all the settings ramped up to max at 1920x1200. But.
WoW seems to run... I'm struggling for the exact word, but it's "choppy". When you're running / flying, the terrain isn't smooth, it kinda jerks past in quick bursts. It doesn't feel like the card is struggling per sé, it's like the sort of thing that you'd expect to be fixed in a driver update.
I grabbed the latest Catalyst drivers from ATi (8.8). They appear to install fine, along with the control centre which is missing from the stock Dell install, but it doesn't actually appear to update the drivers from 8.4. Presumably this is down to it being a laptop adapter rather than a discrete ATi card, but I've not as yet come up with a workaround to make it install though I'm sure it's possible. Anyway.
I took a closer look at the graphics card. The stock 3650 from ATi runs at 600MHz core, 500MHz RAM. yet the adapter supplied by Dell appears to be underclocked, the memory is the same speed but the core is running at just 450MHz.
Experimenting with ATiTool, I can reclock the card to run at ATi stock speeds of 600/500. At this speed it runs rock solid stable under extended load, with no discernable thermal issues that I can immediately make out. Overclocking it much past this almost immediately crashes the laptop so I can't recommend taking it much out of spec, for the sake of a couple of MHz it's just not worth the risk / hassle, but at 600 core it's solid. I can only assume that Dell have underclocked it to improve battery life, I can't see any other reason for such a large crippling.
Clocking the card 'properly' and switching off Full Screen Glow in WoW has gone a long way towards rectifying the choppiness, but I can see that it's still not "right". I've not yet played with other resolutions or tried any other games so I don't know if I'm just asking too much in terms of graphics RAM or if it's specifically a WoW issue but I'm going to carry on fiddling with it. Short of persevering with hacking the Catalyst 8.8 drivers though, I'm not entirely sure where else I can go with this. In the grand scheme of things it's not a huge issue, it's just irritating that my shiny new toy isn't quite the beast I was expecting when I bought it.

ATI does not as far as I can tell separate Desktop Catalyst Drivers and Laptop Drivers.

My Stock Drivers DELL shipped the 1737 with are
Under Device Manager are

Driver Version: 8.512.0.0
But after downloading both files the 60.7MB Catalyst Software Suite and the Standalone Driver
Both Dated 12/10/2008 which is newer, nothing on my Machine changed at all I still have the old drivers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI found a nice deal over Dell.com for this memory - yes, I know it's crazy but that was the cheapest place I found, they offered 15% off + FREE Next Business Day @ DHL, which sounds pretty good for me.
I'm going from 2x1GB DDR2 533Mhz to a 2x2GB OCZ DDR2 800Mhz@667Mhz with lifetime warranty for as low as $44 each module. I think will be great upgrade since my 2GB always wasn't enough!
I have Acer Travelmate 7520G (Turion TL-58) and upgraded from 2G of 667Mhz RAM to 4G of 800Mhz, however the memory is still running at 667Mhz and FSB:RAM being CPU/6. Chipset here is Ati RS690 and according to Everest it supports 800Mhz DDR2. There is no option in bios to change the RAM frequency or divider.. I have tried updating the bios with no luck.

I see that thread BIOS Update V1.24: 4GB RAM in 9410? was already locked (yes, I missed it by more than a year).
I'm guessing there are still users out there using their Acer Aspire 9410 laptops.
I recently purchased two 2GB DDR2 modules. They both work fine individually and I've tested using memtest86+. When I plug both modules in, the BIOS only sees 3067MB. The Phoenix BIOS in my Acer Aspire 9410-4933 is version 1.24. I would expect that the BIOS sees all 4GB.
Is there any Phoenix BIOS newer than 1.24 that I can use for my Acer Aspire 9410-4933?
I've read that there may be hidden BIOS settings and I'm wondering if anybody can point me to a URL that describes how to un-hide those settings?
Lastly: according to the aforementioned locked thread, the BIOS is the one limiting how much memory is addressable. Is there any way to hack around that?
