I heard that the ATI 4650 in this notebook is underclocked by Sony.
So is there any chance to overclock it?
Also, will I be able to install Windows XP on this notebook?
I want to overclock my hd 4650 on my FW. can hd4650 be overclocked well.and can overclocking get my computer hot and harm. and which software will be used to overclcok hd 4650.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI ordered a FW490 CTO w/ P8700, 4650 1GB, 4GB RAM, Vista 64, etc. Anyways, I was a little disappointed with how well it ran Americas Army 3. I downloaded and ran GPUZ, and I got some interesting results... It says that my 4650 uses GDDR3 memory, which is apparently the best setup for the card, but it also reports that my clock speed is 450 MHz, and my memory clock speed is 600 MHz. From everything I have gathered, that is below what most 4650 Mobilitys are at... what gives? What are the speeds of everyone elses 4650?

on the Sony FW with the 4650 mobility (512mb) is?
I'm looking at the VGN-FW510F/B model.
Just got my new FW CTO in the mail today and am loving it. I've spent some time downloading Windows Updates (I ordered Vista Business 64 with Fresh Start) and have been attempting to see if there are updated drivers for the HD 4650 1GB card that I have.
The version I have right now is: 8.583.2-090302a-076759C-Sony
Using Catalyst's "Update Driver" link (essentially a link to AMD's website) I was surprised to not see ANY Mobility HD 3000 or 4000 series drivers at all. Are there newer drivers than the ones that shipped with my laptop? If so, where can I download them?
Also, is it really very important to partition your drives?
Lastly, any chance that ArmaII will run on this?
Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz
4 GB RAM
HD4650 1 GB (with GDDR3 according to GPUZ)
320GB 7200 RPM

The page says that it gets 4 hours on battery life is that true?
I got my system over weekend with following config
P8600
2GB DDR2
160GB
FullHD
Vista 64bit premium
I'm planning to upgrade RAM and I'm thinking if it is worth upgrading to DDR3 instead of DDR2 4GB. Price difference between two seems to be like $20-$30.
the acer uk does not even show an 7530G only the 7530 , what is the G for?
Anyway does it come with GDDR2 or GDDR3
And it supposed to come with an integrated 9100m G , and you can switch between the 9600m GS in Vista , Is this correct and how about Win7
there seems to be a consensus that hdx16 is ddr2, but some people seem to be saying hdx18 is gddr3? this doesn't seem to make financial sense from hp's side, but it would be a factor in deciding between the two if it were true.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been wondering if anyone with the GPU HD 4650 could post your temperatures. I'm looking into a 2177, with P7550 and HD4650. But searching about the temperatures, I've encountered some people with problems (on older models...)
reporting your temperatures?
Also, does the keyboard, or the place where your wrist "sits" gets hot?
I'm really worried about the temperatures because my actual notebook (which has the same HD4650, but a little bit underclocked) has temperature issues. I can't even run Crysis on full settings that it will just go all black and I have to force the shutdown.
I'm looking my XPS 1640 using GPU-Z today, and I'm really confused about the GPU code. It reads out M96, which should be mobility radeon 4650 according to this amd website:
http://developer.amd.com/drivers/pc_...s/default.aspx
A right mobility 4670 should have a gpu code M96-XT. The wired thing is that the rest things, gpu clock, memory clock, device id are all right.
Just for the concern, did dell give me an overclocked 4650 instead of 4670 which it should have give me?
how I could get the latest ATI Mobility Radeon 4650 drivers? I tried the official HP site, however whenever I clicked the download link it doesn't connect (nothing happens and then it times out). Any direct links? I have Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.
View 6 Replies View Relatedjust got a DV6 with 4650 GPU. Usually I use HW monitor and the like but I notice HW monitor does not pick up the temp for the GPU. I have tried using the AMD tool and Speed fan, neither see the GPU, GPUz sees the GPU and gives me temperature information which as far as I can see is wrong (says that the GPU is only 42 degrees under full load and never changes from between 37-42 degrees). So does any one out there have a temperature monitoring utility that will WORK with an ATI 4650 and give some representation of what its temp is?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an HP dv6-1154TX notebook which has a mobility radeon 4650 graphics card. I read in a thread in this forum that you can overclock the GPU in the new version 9 catalyst drivers. When I go to the AMD site, there is no HD4650 under mobility radeon driver list.
Actually there are no HD series cards at all, only the older x1900, etc.. So do the HD series mobility radeons use the normal radeon drivers?

I have purchased a mobility hd 4650 from an Acer spare parts source and intend to replace my 8600m GT with it.
The order has been shipped and will hopefully arrive within 2 weeks.
Based on this thread (5920G Upgraded To...Radeon HD 4650?!) I should be able to simply install the card physically (I've disassembled this laptop for a processor upgrade before) and then just throw on the drivers (the device comes with the Acer vBIOS preloaded)..................................
I do believe this is relatively big news...
Screenshots from here.
I admit that one should take this with a grain of salt but still, the fact remains that an upgrade path now exists for the previously-tricky 5920G, and possibly for ALL Acer MXM models!
I just took the wraps off my new DV6t. I live in Japan so I had to wait two weeks while my parents spent $150 dollars to ship it to me, but it finally got here and...
There's artifacting everywhere. Little pink boxes appear even when I'm mousing over things in the file explorer, and when I opened up the catalyst control center (and it shows the two 3D scenes for comparison) there was artifacting like crazy!
I tried uninstalling the drivers, but the pink boxes still continue to spawn in random places on the screen. Then I went to ATI's website but apparently they don't hand out drivers for the mobility 4650... so I had to go to HP's website and get the same stuff I had before. Nothing solved...
what advantages would I have going with the Dell Studio XPS16 with DDR3 ram over an HP with DDR2 ram? I have read a bunch of very technical stuff on here which unfortunately I don't really understand.
I plan on having this computer for about 4 years hopefully. If I get DDR2 will it be outdated in the very near future? Will I benefit myself by getting the DDR3?
Can I install DDR3 on Studio 1555? the Intel PM45 chipset seems to support both DDR2 and DDR3.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn the spec, my current 4736Z system is running with Intel T4400 (2.2GHz, 1MB Cache, 800MHz FSB), 2GB DDR3 RAM with genuine Window 7 Home Premium 64bit installed.
As to my understandng, the new Window 7 can address more than 4GB RAM from previous 32bit Window OS.
The question that I don't understand is why can't I upgrade the 4736Z notebook RAM more than 4GB, said with the market offering of 4GB x 2 DDR3 RAM giving me the 8GB instead?
My reason being the Window 7 was installed and the system supports DDR3 also.
i have an acer 6935G and the memory installed is 4GB with DDR3 aswell as GPU which says DDR3.but since i've been browsing the forums for quite some time,i've seen people stating that acer doesn't really support DDR3 on this machines and it acts like DDR2.How can i change it to run as DDR3 than? And how am i sure it runs as DDR2 or 3?
