HP/Compaq :: Ddr2 Vs. Gddr3 Hdx16 And Hdx18
Jan 3, 2009there seems to be a consensus that hdx16 is ddr2, but some people seem to be saying hdx18 is gddr3? this doesn't seem to make financial sense from hp's side, but it would be a factor in deciding between the two if it were true.

Nov 11, 2009I've been wondering if anyone with the GPU HD 4650 could post your temperatures. I'm looking into a 2177, with P7550 and HD4650. But searching about the temperatures, I've encountered some people with problems (on older models...)
reporting your temperatures?
Also, does the keyboard, or the place where your wrist "sits" gets hot?
I'm really worried about the temperatures because my actual notebook (which has the same HD4650, but a little bit underclocked) has temperature issues. I can't even run Crysis on full settings that it will just go all black and I have to force the shutdown.

Nov 10, 2009how I could get the latest ATI Mobility Radeon 4650 drivers? I tried the official HP site, however whenever I clicked the download link it doesn't connect (nothing happens and then it times out). Any direct links? I have Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.

Sep 3, 2009just got a DV6 with 4650 GPU. Usually I use HW monitor and the like but I notice HW monitor does not pick up the temp for the GPU. I have tried using the AMD tool and Speed fan, neither see the GPU, GPUz sees the GPU and gives me temperature information which as far as I can see is wrong (says that the GPU is only 42 degrees under full load and never changes from between 37-42 degrees). So does any one out there have a temperature monitoring utility that will WORK with an ATI 4650 and give some representation of what its temp is?

Aug 14, 2009I have an HP dv6-1154TX notebook which has a mobility radeon 4650 graphics card. I read in a thread in this forum that you can overclock the GPU in the new version 9 catalyst drivers. When I go to the AMD site, there is no HD4650 under mobility radeon driver list.
Actually there are no HD series cards at all, only the older x1900, etc.. So do the HD series mobility radeons use the normal radeon drivers?

Apr 10, 2009I just took the wraps off my new DV6t. I live in Japan so I had to wait two weeks while my parents spent $150 dollars to ship it to me, but it finally got here and...
There's artifacting everywhere. Little pink boxes appear even when I'm mousing over things in the file explorer, and when I opened up the catalyst control center (and it shows the two 3D scenes for comparison) there was artifacting like crazy!
I tried uninstalling the drivers, but the pink boxes still continue to spawn in random places on the screen. Then I went to ATI's website but apparently they don't hand out drivers for the mobility 4650... so I had to go to HP's website and get the same stuff I had before. Nothing solved...

Oct 10, 2009I've got HP dv7-2043cl laptop. I want to find out what max GPU temp do you guys get, when you put stress on the graphics card. I am interested only in DV7-2xxx series with Ati Mobility 4650. Mine is around 46-48 when idle. Temp goes up to 70-74 in around three minutes when I run the Fur Mark stability test (1600x900, MSAA 8x, post processing and xtreme burning turned on). Clocks are at stock frequencies.
I wouldn't care about the temperature (it is not actually that high), but I have a problem. The computer just turns off when I play some games. For instance, if I play Fallout 3 at ultra settings (1600x900, 8x msaa, hdr), the computer powers off after a couple of minutes. Same thing with Crysis Warhead at high setting (1280x720, no msaa), even Half-Life 2 at max settings! When I lower the resolution in Fallout 3 to 1280x720 and MSAA to 4x, everything seems to be fine. Same thing with Half-Life 2. No similar luck with Crysis though. Looks like Crysis utilizes every single bit out of the GPU in any case.

Acer :: Travelmate 7520G And 800Mhz DDR2
Oct 3, 2008I have Acer Travelmate 7520G (Turion TL-58) and upgraded from 2G of 667Mhz RAM to 4G of 800Mhz, however the memory is still running at 667Mhz and FSB:RAM being CPU/6. Chipset here is Ati RS690 and according to Everest it supports 800Mhz DDR2. There is no option in bios to change the RAM frequency or divider.. I have tried updating the bios with no luck.

Nov 21, 2009I'm looking my XPS 1640 using GPU-Z today, and I'm really confused about the GPU code. It reads out M96, which should be mobility radeon 4650 according to this amd website:

A right mobility 4670 should have a gpu code M96-XT. The wired thing is that the rest things, gpu clock, memory clock, device id are all right.
Just for the concern, did dell give me an overclocked 4650 instead of 4670 which it should have give me?

Feb 24, 2010I see that thread BIOS Update V1.24: 4GB RAM in 9410? was already locked (yes, I missed it by more than a year).
I'm guessing there are still users out there using their Acer Aspire 9410 laptops.
I recently purchased two 2GB DDR2 modules. They both work fine individually and I've tested using memtest86+. When I plug both modules in, the BIOS only sees 3067MB. The Phoenix BIOS in my Acer Aspire 9410-4933 is version 1.24. I would expect that the BIOS sees all 4GB.
Is there any Phoenix BIOS newer than 1.24 that I can use for my Acer Aspire 9410-4933?
I've read that there may be hidden BIOS settings and I'm wondering if anybody can point me to a URL that describes how to un-hide those settings?
Lastly: according to the aforementioned locked thread, the BIOS is the one limiting how much memory is addressable. Is there any way to hack around that?
