I just bought a T7500 processor to upgrade my Aspire 5315. I understand that a bios upgrade should be performed before replacing the cpu. I read about some problems with bios version 1.34 and some went back to 1.33 and there is a new bios 1.43 now.
View 7 Repliesi own an aspire 5672 wmli i`ve done many upgrades to it and always try to have the latest updates for all my drivers but i`m curious i see in the europe site has different bios updates with different dates there is a update wich is the latest on 3239 from 2008 and there is another from 2/23/2007 3236 but under vista now i use vista ultimate should i use the one for vista is there some difference, some integration for vista or something or just go for the latest 3239?

I notice that there are several newer versions available... A14, A15 & A17
Since the details of the A14 version indicate that it includes an "Intel CPU microcode update", must I FIRST UPGRADE with this A14 version before I THEN upgrade with the latest A17 version, or by simply upgrading directly with the A17 version, will this also include all previous updates, including the Intel CPU microcode update...
I am using n5050 model from last 2 years, now i increased memory to 8GB and also changed intel celeron to core i3 processor, now when i plug in AC adaptor my screen goes to blank for just 2 seconds, a technician said you update bios, i downloaded, but it says " same version can't be flashed " .... View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat is going on with updating the Bios with Dell laptops? I have a Dell M4500 precision laptop. I'm running Windows 7 pro 64 bit an I7 quad processor and 8 gigs of memory. I can't update the bios past V 07. When I looked through the support  posts I found people asking the same question and when I did a search I found over 300.000 hits for the same problem many Dell laptops.  What I have NOT found is Dell addressing the problem.  Is it the update engine it's self or a problem with the computers?  I installed all the patches and all the updates for my computer except the Bios.Â
View 15 Replies View Relatedjust like my sony laptop FW510f, it have the ATI 4650, but the GPU frequency is 450 and memory is 600. i think dell can do like it to avoid the fan's noisy(its runs when i press the start button), and the throttling problem.
BTW: my 1647's fan keep spin and the gpu temp is 50 when its idle, is it normal? the ambient no more than 20c
I downloaded all win 7 drivers, and I'm ready for a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64b on my Vaio. I wonder whether it would be wise to first install the bios upgrade for Win 7, version R4041M3, before I start the OS installation?

Is it safe to flash my current BIOS version A04 to A11 for my Inspiron 7520? If not, why is that item listed in the first place?

Under system security it shows Primary Password unabled, Admin Password Enabled, Configure Setup Disabled and Configure Password enabled.
I need to clear these in order to setup new HDD and operating system.

How can disable my internal HDD from Bios version A08 of Inspiron 5423? I cannot find this option in the Bios. I'm trying to boot from an external usb HDD but it fails because of the OS installed in the internal HDD.
How I can disable the internal HDD without having to physically open the laptop?
Recently, my HDD and DVD drive went-off together and Dell replaced the parts.
Since new HDD has been placed, support team installed Windows 7 Home Premium and I had a excellent booting time of 20 seconds (total boot time, BIOS A07, no mSATA).
While upgrading Dell drivers for bluetooth,prompted for BIOS update and upgraded it now.
After upgrading my BIOS to A09, now my BIOS boot time itself 19 seconds, and windows boot time is 23 seconds.
Why previously good performance went down after upgrading BIOS...

I tested it on my Acer 6935G and Windows 7 64bit version. It probably should work on other models and systems to.
Some of the features that Acer CineDash Config supports are:

I recently bought Acer Aspire 6920g laptop. Everything worked fine but the preinstalled system was a 32bit Vista Home. I decided to install 64 system so I installed Vista Business 64bit which I got from msdnaa. I installed all drivers, empowering technology etc but when I try to install erecovery, the installer starts and displays this message:
Erecovery can not be installed - 6. Software Disc.
That doesnt tell me much. I downloaded older version of erecovery(Acer eRecovery ManagementV2.0.2021) and tried to install it. I got this error:
Old NAPP version, eRecovery cannot be installed in this machine.
I checked on my friends 6920g who has fresh preinstalled system and I have the same exact empowering technology and im trying to install the very same eRecovery.
So I am trying to play Dragon Age Inquisition on my newly aquired Acer VN7-571g. It's equipped with a gtx 850m. When I'm trying to start the game I get this error message "Detected NVIDIA driver is 333.17. The required driver version is 340.52 or later. Please update your drivers at geforce.com/drivers before playing the game" Now the problem is that the driver from acer is version 333.17. If I try to install a newer driver directly from geforce it won't recognize the dedicated GPU and will run on the integrated intel HD graphics in stead.

What web browser does Vista Home Basic come with? Is it IE6 or IE7?
I'm a bit stumped because it seems that may have foolishly removed IE7 from my laptop.
Chrome is on there now, but a shortcut to IE7 is still on the quick launch bar.
I wanted to bring IE7 back and install it, but I don't see a copy for Vista home basic online.

I got my laptop back from repair and the papers that came with it said that they not only replaced the LCD screen, but also updated the BIOS to the lates version--1.24
I was messing around with my laptop and the various thermal monitoring programs it has while searching the net why the hell my by-core temps always gets stuck at startup. I kept reading on BIOS, BIOS, BIOS. So I went to acer.com.sg for hopes that a newer 1.25 or so BIOS would be available for my Ciel Noir.
Surprise surprise, they have only the 1.16 (came with my laptop when it was new) and the 1.23 BIOS (mine was presently 1.24, and they don't have it). I downloaded it anyway, and checked the readme. I noticed that the flash utility .exe was named JALA0123.exe and then I noticed through HWMonitor 1.14 that my motherboard was marked JALA0 so hmm...this prompted me to flash the BIOS.
Booted up, got into Windows, fired up HWMonitor and what do you know, now it's working!! HWMonitor reads a different TJMax though, so I adjusted it to be the same as CoreTemp's and Everest, and now it's showing (I hope) correct temps.
Now my question is this: Why does the BIOS that comes from Acer directly i.e. after purchase or repair makes the sensors not work? And why are these BIOSes not available online? Is it possible that they use BIOSes that are for different laptop models, hence rendering the addresses for the thermal monitors different from the actual ones? (I read up that thermal sensors depended on the correct addresses, too.)
There are a lot of BIOS MOD request forums out there but most of them only specialize in SLIC modification. Our job is to unlock hidden menu in the BIOS. We don't want to use "specialize" word here but we know the "how" to get the job done. Based on the old thread Acer Laptop with Phoenix BIOS: Enable Virtualization, we decided to open new thread which specifically deals with BIOS MOD requests.
Other BIOS modder (bob12x, Darkening & others) and I will help you to unlock hidden menu(s) such as Intel Virtualization Menu and Intel Speedstep Technology.............
Which version HDMI does studio 1555 have ? I dont know why computer manufacturers hide that information, cant they say HDMI 1.3 or HDMI 1.2 instead of just saying HDMI .. i am sure USB is not confusing since most USB are 2.0 now.

Does anyone with vista running on their machine have any feedback or impressions of the OS at this point as drivers have started to reach a more mature level? I don't know if it's just cuz i got some cash to burn or if my urge for a new OS is getting to me.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my HP dv6 1299ea laptop. I bought in in August, and was very satisfied with my purchase until lately, when it has been overheating. I have noticed that the fan is running almost non-stop for a while now, but didn't care too much, since I have been playing games and so on. But recently the fan is now running non-stop even when it's idle, or I just browse.
Today I installed speedfan, and it shows core temperature on idle of around 70 degrees C. Sometimes it even goes above 80, and that is without any games or complicated applications running - just browsing. In Medieval II Total war it stays above 80 constantly. Now, when I'm writting it shows between 65-70 degrees C. I see that speedfan does not support my motherboard, since it only shows core, no GPU, HDD, and nothing about the fan speed. Is there any other software that might help me identify and solve the problem?
I know AMDs tend to overheat, compared to Intels, but this just seems too much. I did some research, and saw that it is a known problem for HPs. I ordered a laptop cooler (Titan TTC-G4TZ), but will get it in about a week.
I picked up an old 256mb 500mhz G3 iBook on ebay. It currently has 10.2.7 on it, should I leave it the way it is, or go to 10.3 or 10.4?

Is that the latest available? Seems odd to buy a new high end computer & get old software.
Also, they have the hard drive partitioned into C: & D: The D: drive is called RECOVERY & uses ~8GB. I couldn't find where this is described anywhere. Sounds important.

After hunting around for a solid performing laptop for home and office work for a month or 2 now, I have decided that the Dell XPS is probably the best machine I have looked at. It sounds to be well built, perform great, and has a premium warranty to back it up.
The only negative things I have heard about it is the hard drive is loud and the slot loading drive is also loud, does anyone know if these issues have been resolved and updated in the last few months?
So I go to buy the laptop and realise they don’t have the new Centrino 2 chip! I assumed they would, however chip they only offer the Core Duo chip. I thought Dell was all about consumer customisation and they were able to get new technologies to the market faster because of their direct selling model? So why don’t they have the new Centrino 2 chips?
I want to buy the 15” XPS, but don’t think I can part with the best part of $2000 AUD without the machine having this latest chip. Even the new Sony’s now have the new Centrino 2 chip and they sell for around the same price for this XPS.
