Jan 3, 2009Well what can we use it for? I want to get a gaming head set but the ones I see are not the analog/digital optical port?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI would like to listen 24bit music from my Vaio to the iBasso D10 portable amp which I'm going to purchase. This has a USB connection which only supports audio up to 16bit 44.1khz, but through the digital inputs (optical or coaxial) it supports 24bit input.
The Vaio FW11S only has an analogue headphone jack, and a HDMI output. Is it possible to get 24bit digital audio from my HDMI output to the digital inputs on the iBasso?
Is there a HDMI > optical or HDMI > coaxial converter/cable/plug/etc. available, and what would be a very good quality one?
how about this? [url]
Will this support playback of 24bit FLAC files through the optical out?
I am still using Tiger, 10.4 on my MBP.
I have recently been having issues with my optical drive. I was burning a cd for a friend and it would not burn it or pop it out when I asked it to. I had to re-start while holding down the spacebar (or mouse button?) in order for the cd to come out. I forget which method I used, but using terminal did not work nor did the eject key.
It has also done this while running iDVD to watch a movie. The iDVD interface will not work and produces the spinning beachball of death and then I cannot eject the DVD. I either have to leave it alone for the night or restart the computer. Only then will iDVD stop acting up so I can eject the DVD.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it all to blame on the optical drive? I just went to the Apple Genius Bar a few weeks ago for a new battery. I hoping my MBP isn't falling apart.
Does the Aluminum macbook have optical out? Would the Aluminum macbook be horrible for any type of audio recording/playback. Such as djing, because of the lack of firewire?

I'd like to stream some movies and TV shows from my laptop to view on my TV. The TV is a Pioneer Kuro PDP-5080.
I'm going to be ordering a Mini DisplayPort -> HDMI cable from monoprice to get the video going, but am unsure of what i need for audio, as i understand the minidisplay port doesn't carry audio. I'd like to use the highest quality option available, which i think is the optical out via headphone jack but what cable do i need? My TV has a "Optical - Digital Out" port on the back.
Also, the other option i have is to use a 1/8" -> RCA Y-cable correct? And the output quality won't be as good as the other method, right?
Basically what the thread's topic is. Is the audio jack both in and out?
"ifixit.com" boldly states: "The addition of an SD card slot (and the omission of digital/mic port) is readily apparent."
Omission = completely left out or integrated into the audio in port?
Just installed Windows 7 on my new 15" unibody MBP. The audio output through the speakers is quite low, and realize this is a known issue.
Is there anyway (third party or otherwise) to fix this? How using external speakers? No low volume issues using headphones which is a relief.
I'm trying to put my mic or even my guitar (yes i have a mixer) through the line in/headphone jack, but the internal mic is the only one being recognised. What the heck? And in the mic options there is only System setting and built-in (both have the same result)
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor Logic Pro users... I know I can beat map an audio track using the global tracks beat mapping grid that appears by clicking analyse. The question is... Is there a way to add more than 1 track to this and not mess each other up. When I add a second audio track and beat map it; when I'm correcting its regions it messes up the tracks above...
I realise that the beat map is part of the global tracks, but is there a way I can use it on a per track basis or something like that?
I have a new 2009 macbook pro 15 inch, and I have no complaints whatsover but! when I installed windows xp using bootcamp, whenever I run games, the sound quality is rather poor and the volume is very low... is there anyway to fix this? or should I sux it up?
View 10 Replies View Relatedi cant get any sound to come out in bootcamp. Windows loads up completely silent. I think a file got corrupted or something. All the icons show up in windows, and it says sound is at the max.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAre there any? Basically I want to convert YouTube flv files to m4v files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was at Bestbuy yesterday looking at the new Unibody Macbook pro 13 and noticed that it only had one audio port next to the SD card slot, and it was marked with a headphone icon. I presume that this is the audio out connection. However, what was noticable was the absence of an audio-in connection that is clearly shown on the Apple website photo of the product (below)...
Was the unit I saw simply a fluke, or an "early" unit? Does the "current" new pro 13 have two ports as apple shows, or just one, as on the Bestbuy unit. My current unibody(early 09) has two ports, and I'd hate to lose one by upgrading.
I just want to know if somebody knows how to restore my laptop audio, it seems that I deleted the audio files by mistake, I have a Mac Power Book G4
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have when running XP/Vista/7 under bootcamp. Looking on the net beforehand, I've found things about the 'red light'.... I know what that is, so no replies about that....
Why doesn't the output work under Windows? When plugging speakers/headphones in I get nothing through them and the sound continues to come out of the internal speakers; which I also had to patch as the sound level was so low I nearly took the macbook back due to Apple not giving a damm that I'd just spent £900. But anyhow, I can live with that..... and the dodgy trackpad driver..... and the backlight keyboard that won't be turned off...... but not that the output doesn't work under Windows.
I haven't tried using a digital out; mainly since I don't have an amplifier that has a suitable input.
I want to convert a WMA file to MP3. What should I use to do this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a miniDisplay Port to HDMI and 3 HDMI Cables and a HDMI splitter from seller mambate on eBay. Surprisingly it was all really good quality, the audio works well, I wish I had a surround sound system to test it on but I use optical audio for HT. So my Hanns G 28 Monitor is really the only thing I could test it on, and it works.
The Splitter comes wit a remote too which I thought was cool.
This is my MBP13 and he Hanns G
Funny side note, the MBP quicktime plays better 1080p vids on the HannsG dont know why. either way plex is the best program for videos.
I'm an old TR and now a TZ owner, and my TZ is awesome in the fact that it could be spec'd with a 2nd HDD, replacing the DVD drive (which i used once in a blue moon, and have an external for that)
I have the 64GB SSD and now a 500GB HDD, so it's perfect, fast SSD for the OS and shed-loads of space for all my photos and films n stuff.
So since i now want to upgrade to something with more power, and the new Z looking so awesome(!), I'm hoping they'll offer the same 2nd HDD option.
I really can't express how useful and sensible this option is (especially for my usage)
i did c a Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy from this web [url]but i dont know if that's work for my hdx 16, anyone tried?it that sata 1 or 2?
View 8 Replies View Relatedi only have experience hooking up an amp to my computers via USB but have learned recently that optical is the way to go. i don't see it anywhere in the specs but can anyone verifiy if there is or isn't one on this unit? s/pdif as well.

I'm following the steps in the manual here:[url]
I'm trying to remove the optical drive as per the instructions on page 55. I've removed the screw and I have the drive open. When I pull on the drive drawer nothing moves. I am afraid if I pull harder I'll break it.
Will an optical drive from a Vostro 1500 fit into a Latitude E6410? Will this be difficult to swap?
View 4 Replies View Relatedan user has Acer Aspire 5920 notebook with OS Win XP Professional SP2. (He has changed windows vista preinstalled to install Windows XP Prof. SP2.)
Now, it not detects a basic optical mouse USB (logitech). But he can connect a mobile via USB.
I think is problem USB 2.0...?
But I dont know what he must install (without to install all SP3)
Already I have searched drivers on Acer but I have not found any driver usb for windows xp. And the mouse has not drivers.
the cd/dvd combo drive crapped on me as it only reads CDs now, no dvds. I did however steal a dvd rom drive from a Tr3ap1 , which is also the UJDA755 model so i'm assuming it well work.
Well when i tried disassembling the v505 it was impossible. i've sat for 2 hours trying to split the halves of the case to gain access and looked online everywhere to see if there were any guides but i have failed.
i even looked at the diagram but it didn't help me as all i could figure out from it were the hidden screw.
if you can take apart a Sony Z and replace the optical drive with a standard hard drive? Would the older tutorial here be the same way you can take apart a new sony Z or how do you think you could get in there?
[url]
Or is that a different model? I don't suppose there's a new tutorial out for the new Zs as they just came out.
On another note - I heard you're suppose make a new connector for the hard drive because the Sony Z uses microSATA or uSATA or something like that for their optical drives. There isn't a connector that you can readily purchase now.
I want to save money now and get this notebook with the regular DVD RW drive. Maybe later I want to upgrade to Blu Ray. However, is this even possible? If so, does it void my warranty?
