View 3 RepliesI have a mac book pro with Safari OS..some kind of Hack, secret virus/stroke key etc..and I need help in trying to fix it. I need to be contacted at the hotmail address, as I go to the library to get this uncompromised email. If you write, I will reply with problem in detail as much as I can explain-I am not too computer literate..I DO know who has done it. I guess that is a start..They say they are better than any APPLE hackers, techs, genius bar etc. and cannot be detected..
View 8 Replies View RelatedSeems I get headaches or at least eye strain from staring at my Mac Book Pros glossy screen all day.
I've always spent way to much time on my LapTops over the years & I know that in its self is not good for your eyes, But it seems that this glossy screen is making it much worse.
I dont remember dealing with this with the Mat ( non-glossy screens ) before.
Might this glossy screen be doing this? Should I get a film for it?
I'm a PC user, and one of my friend has a Mac book. Recently he lost his data and ask me to recover his data for him but I'm not good at Mac. So, do you guys know how to easily recover all his data? What are the best software to do that?

I'm considering buying a new Mac Book Pro 13" inch. Will windows 7 run on this? Has anyone tried it, what sort of battery life am I looking at? Will I lose some functionality, like the backlit keys?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a SR Macbook pro (late 2007) with OS X 10.4. i hooked it up with Western Digital MyBook Studio 1TB (external USB drive). the drive is correctly partitioned and formatted. using GUID and HFS+, quite often upon connecting, the drive start up, then spun down again imediately. strangely enough, the drive is still connected, the indicator light is still on, and the drive is still mounted under "disk utility", the volume however does not. if that makes sense. should i be worried? anyone else experience this problem? does this indicate that there is a problem with the drive? or a problem with mac os x? - i do have freeagent pro drive before, and it also have trouble with the drive jamming mid file transfer.

MEMORY - 2GB DDR3 SDRAM
HARD DRIVE - 250GB 5400rpm Serial ATA
OPTICAL DRIVE - 8x slot-loading SuperDrive (DVD±R DL ⁄ DVD±RW ⁄ CD-RW)

I've got some questions.
1) how much is the maximum capacity of the new battery? I'm getting 5500mAh per full charge... is this correct?
2) "if you intend to keep your laptop plugged for a long time, remove the battery" Ok. So how do I follow this rule if the battery is built-in? ahhahaha!
3) Apple says to recalibrate the battery once a month... but how often is it good to unplug? once a day? once a week?
4) at what percentage should I plug the laptop back in if i'm NOT recalibrating?
I have a 13" Mac Book Pro (June 2009)
If I upgrade the hard drive on my own, will it void the notebook's one year warranty?
The sales people say yes... but the manual describes the procedure (why would it give directions for something that will void the warranty?)
I just got my Mac Book Pro 15" a couple of days ago & do love it! ( except I'm still adapting from my Dell I've had for so many years. )
& I'd like to protect it from scratches & spills etc.
I've once seen a single one piece of silicone that covered everthing, but I cant find it now.
I'm assuming its not available for the newer models.
I dont know if I'm crazy about the Marware's stuff.

Have only found one reference to a since-defunct piece of software. Can this be done, preferably via freeware -- or even software options I missed?
It's a old version MacBook Pro 15.4" 2008 Edition, Core 2 Duo 2.5Ghz (i think) 2GB Ram, 250GB HDD
The problem I encountered was that one day when I was using my laptop I forgot to turn it off and then my laptop went to 'sleep' mode, when I came back and tried to turn on my laptop I could hear the sound but my display was black.
I thought it was just a minor problem so I just restarted my laptop but the problem consisted...
Unfortuately my warranty ran out but still I still put my laptop through the checkup in the official Apple customer center and they said that I needed to purchase a new part PCBA, MLB, 2.5 GHZ, REV2.
My audio is not working and I did a restore point and that did not work. I also checked for the windows update mentioned and did not see that this was installed so I don't think that is the problem.Â
My machine is HP Pavilion dV6 Notebook PC
Product number: LW217UA#ABA
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
IDT Audio  -  IDT  -  1.0.6345.0
Due to what I thought were issues with SP1, I uninstalled it. Finding it not to be the case and that the uninstall left my machine somewhat "stuttery", I set it up for a system restore and went to bed. About eight hours later, I checked it and it was still restoring! I figured it had locked up (it's done this before) so I powered it off. Dumb move, I know.
Now, though, I try to start windows but it the screen gets stuck on black before it loads up the glowing windows logo. It will do the loading animation but that's it. I've tried loading Windows from CD but it doesn't make a difference. It loads the files with the DOS-like loading screen, then does the exact same thing.
I've also tried to get it to start in Safe Mode. I push the key to get there but the start-up selection screen only flashes before going right into loading Windows normally.
Please, I don't know what to do and I desperately need this machine to get anything done. It's just outside of warranty, so if there's any way for me to fix this myself I'd like to try.
Some things I've wondered about:
1) Is there a for sure way to get into the start-up selection screen?
2) Can I format the HDD with FDISK and then load windows from my vista cd and have it reinstall?
ATrying to do a complete System Restore, and

I'm having some issues with my MacBook's USB hub. I have the macbook from 2007 I believe that has 2.0GHz and 1GB of RAM. WHenever I connect my iPhone to the USB port to sync, it pops up with this dialog box that says that my iPhone is drawing too much power and thus the USB hub will be deactivated.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi just got a new white macbook. It came with two restore dvds. one for osx and the other for applications. If i put in a new hard drive will i be able to install osx from the restore dvd or will i need a copy of a legit Mac OSX 10.5.x dvd. the guy at the apple store said the restore dvds will only work on this computer. i dont know if that means it will only work on the same hard drive or not. i plan on upgrading to a 320gb 7200 rpm.

I had a folder on my desktop and yesterday it disappeared. I also had some files in a folder "untitled folder" with some numbers after the "untitled folder" and, although I was able to save files to it, I can't find it on the hard drive.
I've had my Mac for a few months (and love it) but there are still so many things that I haven't figured out. On Windows you can "restore" the computer to a former date and have things just the way they were on that date.
Is that possible with OSX? It's not a disaster. Nothing critical lost (I hope) but I'm wondering what happened and what I might have done to "lose" those folders.
I want to restore my MBP using a fresh install.
I have an external hard drive.
I can transfer all my music files, but they won't be organized into my playlists.
Is there a way I can backup the music while retaining my organized playlists so when I transfer my music back onto the computer after the reformat, the playlists are still there?
I lost the restore partition on the original SSD that my Yoga 13 shipped with. Â Is there a collection of drivers and whatnot that would allow me to restore it to factory defaults on my own with a fresh windows installation? Â I have the win8 key from the BIOS but don't want to lose out on all the required drivers if I were to just reinstall windows myself.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust to state first and foremost, this is not an issue I have. This is a preventative post for anyone that may ask down the line. (as I've seen it asked on multiple other forums.)
I had this issue with an inspiron 1720 I just got. It had an issue, so I installed vista from a Vista RTM disk. It didn't fix the problem in the end, so I sent it into dell and got fixed, but I wanted to a fresh restore from the restore partition because on restarts, I'd get the blue screen of Death. Fun stuff right?
Well, Unknowingly, when I installed vista off of the cd, that removed the ctrl+F11 option from the dell. This is stated on many forums, and it seems that most answers to this issue is to format and install a fresh install from cd again, or call dell and get recovery disks. I figured "Heck, If I still have the restore partition, there is not reason why I can't get it to restore with some effort."
Some other people I've seen have just had viral attacks, or just want to sell their laptop and need a fresh install. This is for those people that need it. The answer to the question of what if Control and F11 don't work.
So, Here I am with the fix. There is one required bit of software that's required, and that is simply a dos boot cd. You can find many iso's for dos on the net. All you have to do is burn a copy and boot from it. [EDIT] IMPORTANT: I was wrong about dos. As stated below ( http://www.notebookforums.com/post3049150.html ) you have to do it from a 32 bit environment. You can get through one in the XP repair console (on the install cd) or through one of the options in vista's setup.[/EDIT]
Ok, so this is going to be dumbed down a bit, and I'll explain what the dos commands do. First off, after booting into dos, you need to change to the restore partition. This isn't hard at all, all you do is type "D:" and press enter. After this, you need to find the restore file. This is a file with the extension of *.wim. This is an image of windows from dell factory.
Generally this file is found in d:dellimage and is called Factory.wim. Just to double check, I'm going to tell you to change the directory. Type in "cd dellimage" and press enter. In dos, CD means Change Directory (or enter a folder). Now, to list all of the files in the directory type in "dir" and press enter...............
I have a time machine backup of my macbook, can I update to snow leopard, and restore everything from the backup? I have a bootcamp partition if that makes a difference.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'd like to stream some movies and TV shows from my laptop to view on my TV. The TV is a Pioneer Kuro PDP-5080.
I'm going to be ordering a Mini DisplayPort -> HDMI cable from monoprice to get the video going, but am unsure of what i need for audio, as i understand the minidisplay port doesn't carry audio. I'd like to use the highest quality option available, which i think is the optical out via headphone jack but what cable do i need? My TV has a "Optical - Digital Out" port on the back.
Also, the other option i have is to use a 1/8" -> RCA Y-cable correct? And the output quality won't be as good as the other method, right?
Well what can we use it for? I want to get a gaming head set but the ones I see are not the analog/digital optical port?
