I have recently purchased a Lenovo V570 From Best Buy with an i5 2410m and Intel HD 3000. When browsing the web, I came across the option for the V570 to have a dedicated Nvidia 525m Graphics Card.

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I recently bought a laptop (Dell Inspiron 5520) with AMD Radeon 7670m HD graphics cards. However, the laptop came with another graphics cards too which is I suppose called an integrated graphics card. It's name is Intel HD 4000. So basically I was on a site which told me whether my computer could run a specific game or not. I passed everything like processor speed etc. but the graphics card. It said I use Intel 4000. I checked from some other applications and those also told me that I was using Intel 4000. I want to know whether I use both graphics cards or just Intel 4000 and if that is the case how I can switch manually from Intel to AMD Radeon graphics card.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got the Macbook for Christmas and it has been giving me no problems until last night. I was watching a video on it and I had it plugged in, as the battery was running low, when it all of the sudden went blank and shut itself off. I thought that maybe the battery had died for some strange reason, since it had not been in its charger long, went on my other computer and dismissed the situation until this morning.
When I unplugged it, checked the battery life (it was full, by the way, 8 green lights came on) and then tried to turn it on, nothing happened. I held down the button for a long time and still, nothing. I tried plugging it back in and turning it on, still nothing.
I got the manuel out and tried the Command, P, R and Power button thing, which made the laptop make a small noise. Then I tried once again to turn it on, but the screen just went to a lighter gray and nothing happened. When I pushed it again, it went dark. I tried removing the battery and putting it back in, but it still did the same, and I even tried holding down the power button for five seconds while the battery was out. Still nothing.
I have lenovo ideapad z510 came with windows 8.Then I have installed ubuntu 13.10 on it. But when ever I turn on my laptop in ubuntu brightness set to 0 & I have to manullay adjust it.
How could i turnoff it s.t. it stays as it is.
My Dell XPS 1645 [see sig for specs] will random shut off on me. I will be doing anything from watching a movie, listening to music, or just browsing and it will random shut off. They are like days apart but It shut off 3 times on my today :S.
These shut offs are not Temperature related as In BOTH Windows and Ubuntu it has shut off and I have been monitoring temperature in both, with log files so I can check the temperature @ shut off time.
I live in Jamaica and it would be kind of hard for me to just send it in to have it looked at. I'm hoping the next BIOS revision along with fresh installs of both OS's will do the trick.
I've had the E6400 for about a week. It's been perfect until today. Three times now, the computer has just shut down as I was using it, not falling asleep, obviously. It won't start right back up; I have to wait about 30 seconds and then it boots back up to normal. The fan is working and I set the power settings myself.

getting a lot of problems with it already:
1) won't shut off either on battery or ac power. Shuts down and after couple of minutes restarts and i get the Acer Arcade screen. when i Exit from that says windows XP is hibernating and turns off. Then again restarts to after some time. I tried putting on sleep and but comes out of sleep. My entire battery gets drained throughout the night so i assume must be restarting many times..Also with battery even if i pick it up and put it in the case it restarts.
2) while working the Windows Media Centre window keeps on popping up almost continuously for about 20-30 times n then stops. then will start all over again all by itself. (maybe this is related to the shut down/sleep problems?)

A few days ago I was casually browsing the Internet when my HP Pavilion DV7 shut down suddenly. I powered it on and it loaded to the Windows Screen and then powered off again. I removed the battery an the memory (I have 2 4gb DIMMs) and put the battery and one of the DIMMs back in but the issue remains. It's a very odd issue - when I press F2 to go into memory test it begins to cycle through a memory check and then powers off again. When I try to boot into recovery mode or safe mode it also shuts down.

When I turn off the computer, it does not turn off all the time (sometimes it does, and most of the time it doesn't), the screen truns off like it wants to shut down, but then the computer hangs up, with the HDD disk light flashing, and it never shuts down, requiring a hard shut down.
I have not installed any new software...nothing different has happened, and I did try system restore, going back quite a ways, it did not work....
I have replaced my old CPU (T8300 2.4/3M/800) with a new CPU (NEW SLGEE Dell Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 3.06GHZ/6MB/1066 Mhz Socket P CPU Processor )...All I get now is when I start the computer the "power LED" will blink once and beep once and then the "battery led" will blink once and then it will shut off. If I remove the new CPU and replace it with my old CPU it works fine...Does this sound like the new CPU is bad or not supported by my motherboard? From what my manual tells me this CPU should be supported by my motherboard. My manual says it can handle Intel Core 2 Duo, 6MB and 1066 FSB. Dell verified that my system is socket P.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using either a usb or bluetooth mouse with my new XPS 15z, and i'm getting tired of a problem...
The trackpad is impossible to shut down for good... i mean: indeed you can disable it, turn it off, and even tell it to turn off when usb mouse is plugged, but it never really does, it always, always, always stays on for a second before shutting down...
In other words: my trackpad is disabled, both buttons and touch, and i use a bluetooth mouse. but even it is disabled, if i pass my fingers on it, the cursor moves for 1cm before shutting down... then i wait 2 minutes, and i pass my fingers on it again, and then again the cursor moves 1 cm before stopping moving.
So it is never really shut down, with the consequence i never can type text without my hand touching it and putting the cursor somewhere in the page and i have to put the cursor back to where it was,
For example it happened 5 times when typing this very text....
I have updated the cypress trackpad drivers to last up to date version...
i have noticed that my HDD is making a sound of a fan first i thought it's the fan of the CPU but it's not it's the HDD also he makes this "thinking nosies" all the time even when ideal in windows Vista i personally am a student and cant stand studying from PC with this nosies my HDD model is segagate ST9160821AS 160GB, any ideas about how making it to make less noise? or at least not the fan noise?
View 10 Replies View RelatedRecently i had infamous video problem on M1330, so Dell replaced the motherboard.
But after that my m1330's video is fine, but it just shut down all of sudden. sometimes it shuts down when it is booting or it shuts down after 20-30 mins of use .....
This morning when I turned the M6400 on, my wireless had shut down, showing a X on the tray icon.
It has been working fine under my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit for weeks, since I used the free upgrade I got from the Microsoft Windows 7 demo. The Intel 5300 was fine in device manager.
When I ran the Intel ProSet Wireless diagnostics, it said that the Radio is Switched Off. The driver is the latest Intel 13.0.0 version for Windows 7 64bit.
I called Dell Business Support and the tech spent an hour uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, reinstalling the ProSet utilities and trying to find a way to get the radio to switch on.
He tried to uninstall the Intel generic driver and install the older Dell driver, but apparently could not get the Intel to uninstall, so the installation of the older driver kept failing.
i have a Dell XPS M1330 , First problem was a GPU failure & i had to change the motherboard ( Nvidia GPU ) . & it worked great .
After that the charger is no more working, And i had to order a new one & everything went great also .
A weak ago, It started to show a battery failure " Battery not detected " error message . But it's still running with Power Adapter .
The serious problem is that the computer started to shutdown randomly .....
i was watching family guy in the kitchen today and when i plugged the laptop back into the AC adapter it just shut down,
i attempted to restart but it will not boot up at all ive attempted to take the battery out and then try with that however nothing happens at all any ideas on what ive done and how to fix it?
I'm running a dual boot on my m1530 with Vista and XP. I used a link I found on these forums to find the XP drivers, put them on the disc, and install them that way. I tried to find the link again, but I cant.
Anyways, the problem is that when I close the laptop lid in XP (the problem does not occur in Vista) the screen goes black (maybe into hibernation?) and I have to hold the power button down to shut down the computer and restart it. I've tried fooling around with settings and that doesnt help.
Maybe it's a driver issue? Can some one lead me to the correct driver...or tell me what else may resolve the problem?
dell inspiron 1525 Laptop and I've been having this problem for 2 days now .. when I try to shut it down ..
only the screen turns black but the HD and everything is still on !! and I have to press the shut down button to shut it down !!
It started about a week ago. All the sudden I went to pick up my laptop while it was open and the screen just shut off.
The computer was running, but the screen wouldn't come back on. I tried closing it and opening it and it didn't do anything....so I turned it off and back on and it would flicker light in the bottom right hand corner but no image would appear.
Then eventually, after I kept trying it just started working again like normal until yesterday when I was watching a video and all the sudden it just shut the screen off..
My Acer Aspire 7520 Gemstone Vista,
Will not start but I can hear the fan start then stop after a couple of secs, also the power and hdd leds flash on for 4 secs and then off for 4 secs and keep looping.
But then if I press the on/off button to turn the machine off it will not turn off, even holding the button for 4 secs or more. The only way to turn it off is by disconnecting the battery.
Nothing is connected and nothing appears on the screen.
Well for about 3-4 months my acer has been playing up. I'l admit its not the greatest of the acers but that doesn't mean it shouldn't work. The problems im getting:
-When im playing Java games, or i leave my P.C on or I have the power cable plugged in(whilst on p.c) it gets hot..
-The laptop then beggeins to lagg...
-And then it just switches off without a warning.
- Also theres a terrible noise in my fan(atleast i think its my fan). I would send it to acer but my warrenty is out. I brought this P.C about 1 year and a bit ago.
Having a puzzling time with my 8930G. Just recently when I shut the system down it goes through the shut-down process as normal. Yet as it shuts down and the screen goes blank, the power button remaims lit as does the CineDash. The laptop has turned itself off, yet these two remain lit?

I had followed the Steps in notebookreview.com for "Clean install of Windows Vista" and installed Vista on my Laptop 6 months back and it worked perfectly fine.
Last week, i started facing issues with Vista and the system would automatically Hibernate.
The screen would go blank automatically even while its been used.
So, i decided to clean install Vista again.
I ran the Vista setup CD and using the Vista partition utility, formatted the Primary Parition c: (i have 3 paritions).
I started the setup and after copying 66% of the files. The system automatically shut itself down.
I Had to re-start the setup.
When i restarted the setup, the setup doesnt even start copying files. it shuts down during the initializing setup screen............
dv5 will not shut down when start>shut down>shut down is selected if screen is closed before entire shutdown sequence is completed, if screen is left open, shut down does complete, dv5 is running Vista Home Premium x64
On my other notebooks running XP, as soon as shut down is initiated I can close the screens and the notebooks complete the shut down and turn off while the screen is closed.
Is shut down hanging? Is it this way on all Vista notebooks?
I last used my DM3 about 2 1/2 weeks ago. When I shut it down the battery was at 100%. When I powered it up today, I had only 58% battery charge. This drain seemed excessive to me so I called HP and they seem to have agreed with me as they are sending me a new battery for free under warranty.
Anyone else notice excessive battery drain when the unit is shut down?
